UFC Undisputed 2010 and EA's MMA

Looks like registering on their forum just gets you the demo a few hours before the general public anyway, and even then you're not guaranteed a code. Shitty by THQ.

Demo on Thursday anyway, for everyone.

29th is only for the early one

The date hasn't been given for the normal demo release yet

A new video with the producers, Mir and Buffer showing how subs work, posturing up, using the cage ect ect

http://www.fightofthenight.com/news/ufc-undisputed-2010-gamespots-in-depth-showcase-roster-reveal/

The new posturing up system looks brilliant, you can put your head down to make it harder for them to get out and posture up now and again to throw bombs also the cage work and transitions with dirty boxing and knees ect against the cage also look very very good

This game is gonna be the nuts

Thanks. The roster is also on that link.
Bit suprised to see Dan Henderson is still in there. I watched Strikeforce last week and noticed that Mario Yamasaki has also 'defected' so wonder if they'll keep him in the game...

Referee's aren't tied to a certain promotion I don't think. They are just assigned fights by the fight commission.

Henderson was one of the few fighters who was smart and never signed his life time rights away to the UFC. He can appear in the EA MMA game also so props to him.

I wish lots of other UFC fighters did the same as that demand from Dana was pure BS! The ones who were not smart can now be cut from the UFC and will never be able to appear in any other video game.

It's being released tonight Pacific time. We wont see it until 1am or so I reckon.

The ground game is a LOT harder than last year. The CPU seems to block loads of attempts and it's much harder to posture up as well as transition to a more advanced position. Same with defending, where I can only really try to kick the guy off as not much else seems to work.

In general it seems a lot more complex than last years was, the clinch is also more technical and you can spend a while battling in that alone.

Spending too much time on the ground not advancing will have the ref standing you up as well :)

Oh, and remember not to hammer buttons for subs like I've been doing

Got it earlier today but have been laying a lawn so haven't had a go but Dag's impressions so far sound great :)

Very disappointed that they have the exact same intro's for the matches. Same pre-fight fighter announcements, ring girl animation, and win presentation. All they did different was add T-shirts and cap when announcing the winner.

It seems the approach they took on the game was that 2009 was great to begin lets just make it better by tweaking here and there and adding more moves. So that's all they did.

I like the adjustments...involving the cage, animations look smoother, ground game is smoother, seems to be more moves, but so far nothing that makes me think 'Damn this is a huge improvement on last years game! I need this now!.

Time to wait for EA's game now.

Is that 360 only? PS3 users have to wait till Wednesday?

Nope, register on the forums and you can choose which system you want a code for.

Bear in mind it's a demo and they didn't really need to include the other intros and stuff. Maybe the full game wont have extra intros etc but I wouldn't say the demo is exactly what the full game will be like.

I can't wait for the full game, more so now. The gameplay has tightened up loads, the graphics are better, the modes are better and there's more fighters. Day one for me, easily.

I doubt their will be much of a difference between demo and final. There was hardly anything I noticed between 09's demo and the full game other than the online was full of quitter and the career mode went from piece of piss to AI's who could knock you out seconds into a fight and never seemed to get gassed.

Cracking game this is, the difference to 09 is massive as there are so many ways you can take the fight now

I'm gonna master using the cage and pummelling people against it

Also i have had the opponent who was on the floor with me in guard push his feet agaisnt the cage to counter, which looked very good

Just had a match stopped due to a cut

The doctor has a look first then said he was ok to continue then a little later the ref stopped it for another look and the doc said it was over :)

I have played it for a while now, although there are subtle changes from last year's game, I am not blown away. Fighters don't fight to their stats sats much as you would like, hope this is resolved in the full game

You don't find Shogun constantly wants to take the fight to the ground whereas Rampage wants to brawl?

No I don't, the fighters all feel the same to me bar a few moves, take Machida, he should be elusive moving in and out from the outside but instead he stays in the pocket throwing weak punches and then goes for his takedown which is impossible to stop a move which will provide spammers endless fun. I hope these are just demo issues and won't be in the full game.

Hmmm, I definately found I had totally different fights against Rampage and Shogun. And I hated fighting Shogun :(

Saying that, I found fighting Thales Leites on 2009 was a real pain in the arse because he kept taking the fight to the ground and he was so good.

Now that many of you have had a chance to play UFC Undisputed 2010, we've got a special post-demo release edition of the Developer Q&A for you!

The questions were pulled straight from the fans on our Facebook page, and the answers have been provided today by lead developer Omar Kendall. Omar wanted to thank you on behalf of his entire team for all the feedback and support that you have given the demo. They're also looking closely at many of the comments to see if any issues arise that they need to address - like the freezing in the clinch issue that some players have observed.

So, let's get down to it!

Anyone know how to switch submissions when attempting one? ex: Kimora attempt and switch to an armbar, cuz i know u can do it..just haven't figured it out yet

First, it's important to remember that Submission Switching is both fighter and submission specific; not all fighters have them, and not all submissions can be switched once initiated. Consult your fighter's Action List (available in the pause menu) to see which Submission Switches are available to him. Second, Submission Switches are performed by holding the Technique button (either L1 for PS3 or LB for 360) and pressing in on the Right Stick/Right Analog.

Does anybody know how to do slams with Rampage? All I can pull off is the suplex.

Slams from the Clinch are performed exactly like Ground Transitions; use either a Minor Transition, Major Transition, or Technique Transition motion to perform slams. Check your Action List to see which Positions offer slams!

How come I can't finish a submission? I twirl the right stick over and over... am I doing something wrong?

Finishing a submission isn't an automatic thing – that would make them very powerful! The proper situation has to prevent itself, and you can create these situations yourself. My suggestion is to make sure you're in as dominant a position as you can be (like Mount), and to try to catch your opponent while he's low on Energy. Also, make sure you're fighting as a guy who's good at performing submissions – it's not likely Rampage is going to have an easy time submitting anyone!

Easiest way to sub? after you click on the stick do you still have to push on the stick while your rotating it?

See above answer for the ideal situation in which to execute a submission. You do NOT have to push on the stick while you rotate it; once a submission is initiated, just shine by rotating the right stick either clockwise or counterclockwise – it's your choice.

I thought we were supposed to be able to use the cage this year? I've tried but every time the opponent and I get close to its like there is a little wall blocking from being able to press up against the cage.

Are you sure you're playing the Undisputed 2010 demo? Just kidding. From the Clinch position, using the cage is easy. Simply hold the Left Stick/Left Analog in the direction of the cage and your fighters will move into it. Alternatively, performing a takedown near the cage will sometimes result in you and your opponent falling against it.

Does anyone know how to Triangle Choke yet?

Every fighter has different moves this year; the fighter you're using may not have the Triangle Choke. In the demo, Shogun has the Arm Triangle Choke from Side Control while Postured. In general, submissions are performed by clicking in on the Right Stick/Right Analog. Check the Action List in the pause menu for more info!

How do you reverse?

If you mean how do you reverse Transitions, it's the same as last year; flick left or right on the Right Analog/Right Stick the moment you see a Transition initiated. The timing is tricky and variable based on how good the fighter you're playing as is at reversing transitions.

Dude, when Shogun gets me in the Tai Clinch and starts kneeing me, I cannot get out of it. He blocks all my transitions.

We've completely revamped the clinch system this year, but the Thai Clinch is still extremely powerful; try to reverse his transitions, block his knees, and keep trying to transition - don't give up!

Anybody know how to get the standing Back Clinch or the Crucifix?

Back Clinch is possible any time your opponent shows his back to you; simply initiate a Clinch (flick forward on the Right Stick/Right Analog) when your opponent has his back turned, like after missing a takedown attempt. The Crucifix (which we call the Salaverry) is not a position that all fighters necessarily have, and off the top of my head I don't believe any of the demo fighters have it. Check the Action List in the pause menu to be sure!

I have it on Xbox and I can't sway.

Hold down RB and flick left, right, up, or down on the Left Stick while in the standing position.

How do you stand up?...an odd one to get stuck on.

Not odd at all , seeing as we've changed it from last year. Click in on the Left Stick/Left Analog.

But how do you do those "mini transitions" I would call them. Anytime I use the LS he moves the guy on the floor. the RS is for transitions and when I punch I get stood up after a while. Tried looking at the action list but got nada.

We call those mini transitions Posturing. To Posture, simply hold the Left Stick/Left Analog left or right while in any of the advantaged positions. Note that while in a Down position (Open Guard Down, Half Guard Down, or Mount Down – you can tell these positions because the fighter on the bottom wraps his arms around the top fighter's head and neck), you cannot Posture up, and the ref will come in and stand you up after a while if you don't move to a better position.

just had my first fight

i was shogun v rashad and i knocked him out with a head kick. it felt good

it is more fluid than last years which i hardly played tbh.

this seems to work how i would expect with what i am telling it i.e the control movements

how do you finish submissions?

i get them into a submission but can't finish them

the old games used to be hammer A

what is it now?

Cheers for this Dags, the bolded part was the only thing I was unsure of, I worked the rest out last night after 5 hours solid play.

Jeez this game is freaking unbelievable. I played UFC 2009 to death, played over 2500 online Ranked matches, and pretty much knew everything there was to know about the game. Last night I felt like a noob. :CONFUSE:

The game is so, so, so deep. The new system is brilliant. This is going to take alot of practice, so many different options. I finally beat Rashad last night on Expert after 5 hours of trying, with Machida. Bearing in mind I could beat the top fighters in any weight class, with the worst fighters on the game, within a round on UFC 2009, this is a massive change. If feels like a whole new game.

Some of the transitions, moves etc I saw last night were jaw-dropping. And Machida feel's just like Machida, damn it's scary how you can mimic his exact style in this game.

I cant wait till this game is released, until that time, plenty of learning to be done.

There are alot of KO's in the demo, mainly coming from wrong sway's, which are a gamble I guess but still too frequent. The 2009 demo was the same, it's coded this way I believe to attract the more casual MMA fan or gamer. The full game will be tweaked in this area, it was last year. I can tell it's the same, because at certain points throughout the fight the KO will happem, especially if you get into the later rounds.
