I can't seem to get hooked on gaming as I did many years ago - maybe it's a side-effect of growing
up/older - but PES2008 PS2 is becoming a serious threat over here...unlike most games, the more I play it the more I...want to play it. It's got a bit of the toughness of PES5, with gritty midfield battles, fumbles, the stuff
@MafiaMurderBag was talking about, added to the platform of gameplay of PES6, which makes a beautiful combination of realism and fun.
But not everything is fine though. My newgen keeper, who was supposed to be a FK specialist (80+ FK acc. and curve), has scored 0 of countless scoring attempts - surely more than 30 now. I'm so thirsty for a goal of his that I won't even allow Jaric to try and score a free kick, a guy who's one of the best FK takers of the entire ML world with a 94 FK acc stat.
He's improving though, has hit the bar twice on the last few attempts. Maybe one of these days he'll finally net one, and I'll get to post his glorious moment here on the Corner.
As for the state of the Originals Challenge on my ML, I'm getting closer and closer to the winter transfer window - which will serve only as a means to give a rest to our squad, since no player has retired and I therefore can't buy any player - and I'm currently 3rd behind Benfica (current champions) and Bayern, but Lokomotiv is creeping in alongside Besiktas.
Finished 3rd on the WEFA Championships' group phase behind Atletico Madrid and Tottenham, leaving Pompy as 4th (got one win and one draw vs. Pompy as my only conquered points). It's clearly too much for us at this stage, we were nowhere near ready to compete with those two teams. Now, we'll face North London White on the WEFA Masters Cup which I believe will be a more suitable competition for our ability.
Our roster survived the wave of matches that came our way in the beginning of the season. 2 seasons ago we had 14 league fixtures to play on an entire season; we were close of playing that many matches on just the first 7 weeks of the season. Remember we can't get players unless one of the defaults retires, so the roster is pretty much the same as it was back then. Though I couldn't rotate that much of the squad without risking losing matches, I was able to keep everyone out of fatigue trouble and they're all somewhat still fresh enough to compete at a good level for the last few matches of the first half of the season until the winter transfer break.
I'm counting on guys like Iouga, Espimas, Ximelez and Valeny (all 38/39 year-olds!) to retire so that I can keep on building this team with more depth than we have now, as I can only truly rely on 14/15 players out of the 28 we have.
