The Retro-PES Corner

It would very interesting to watch the same game altering the difficulty and match time after each game just to see how many goals are scored.
Like I said earlier,on Pes 15 it was very evident that match time had an effect when simming, and even when I played CPU Vs CPU it was a goal fest.
Strange

@Lobbedball: I see your point but I look at it differently: are Hitchcock's movies not worth it because his work is now very old? I know that when I'm watching Vertigo or Psycho I won't be seeing the state-of-art special effects from modern-day Hollywood, but that doesn't put me off, I just learn to enjoy it for what it brings to the table. With retro-PES (and other retro-games too...) a similar thing happens: it's indeed old, but if you let yourself be immersed in it you'll love the experience.
And my guess is, even if a truly revolutionary, one-of-a-kind fantastic football game comes out in the future, these classic PES will still be played. It's inevitable. One doesn't need to dislike modern football games to be able to enjoy classic PES games - though many end up joining the retro-PES fever because of that dissatisfaction, which I fully understand -, all one needs to enjoy retro-PES is to jump in, test the water, dive in a few times and before you know it, you're already hooked on it.
Why is it so addictive? Because when you fire up a game like PES3, for example, you're not expecting Zanetti's nose to have the exact curve his real-life nose has, or whether Rui Costa's hair flows majestically in the wind as it did in reality. You know you're playing an old game, so you just go with the flow and accept its flaws and qualities...and when you do, it's impossible not to have fun with these classic games.

@MafiaMurderBag and @rockstrongo: I completely agree with both of you, Retro-PES is all about having fun in any game you prefer. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the midfield battles of PES5, sometimes I just want fast-paced arcadey action with PES2010...you're in charge.

@vialli82: Good luck with your project. I don't know if you read PLF's thread here on stat-adjustments but he spotted a lot of mistakes when it comes to player stats of PES4. Like real-life prolific FK takers having 60s for FK acc., massively underrated/overrated players...

Great day for my keeper, Fredriksson the newgen. He finally scored a goal but not from a free kick; I had forgotten he was also a penalty kick specialist (has a PK Taker star!). He stepped in and scored it marvelously...ML United 1-0 Lokomotiv, the keeper made the difference!

So he's a 19 year-old keeper with 96 Mentality (!), 81 aggression, 80+ FK acc. and curve, PK taker star...
...and, turns out, he's a wonderful dancer too!

What's not to love about this guy?

Finally had my first scripted game,my opponents Levante played like 2010 Spain.
Tiki taka one touch football.
I tried to replay the game a few times to see if it wasn't a one off,but turned out the same game 1-2-3.
Finally settled for a 2-2 draw.
I knew it had to come.
But I'll take it

Slowly moving up,in 7th now,34 games played.
Feels like the CPU wants me to finish outside the Euro spots.

Not going down without a fight though
Next game is Vs RM,got a bad feeling fellas!!

Keep it going rock never give up, just play a defensive game vs real madrid try to pass time with holding possession in midfield even if it will feel boring, but u have to, they are absolutely lethal in the counter especially in 2013 with that di maria and ronaldo in full form

Guys, i'm planning doing a PES3 option file, with starting transfers from starting 2003/2004 correct.
I'm totally on PES 3 for the moment, but also PES1... Which is unfortunately uneditable in terms of transfers and not on PC, you can only play it with PCSX2.

I'm a "stat-man", so for NIG players especially, i will take stats from WE7 or WE7LE (japanese version) that i've found.

...But i've remembered that since PES 4 which includes full leagues, stats were way better and more representative.
If you take on old option file on Neoseeker or Gamefaqs, you will have 2004/2005 seasons players, and find takes stats converter with the old CM, so less authentic and less adapted to PES.

So on the short term:
-i will update squad from 2003-2004 season, created players, flags, formations etc.

And on the long term:
-i will try to update every players with WE8 or PES 4 stats (they are the same as PES 3) but it will take time... And i've got project for PES 2019: so it could take more than one year.
...But if i take stats directly WE7 Liveware evolution, it should take less time. What's ennoy me is that PES 4 standards are much more realistic.

Why i want to update stats from others PES version?

-Because between WE7 and PES3, every players which aren't in WE7 and created from scratch was totally "randomised" in terms of stats.
Those players doesn't fit at all with their playing style neither with konami standard, and corrected in WE7LE japan version.
PES 3 was the game i've most edited, so you could trust me, or i could give you some screenshots to prove that.

- It's better to have squad from 2003/2004 but with their values not from the past season, but the 2004/2005 season, or the after the Winter transfers (WE7LE j version)

That sounds great.

If that would somehow help you, I have been slowly updating PES3 Wendetta patch OF to include PSD stats (with slightly lower mentality and teamwork, as I think these work better in PES3 when they are lower on average), as well as Chinghis Khan tactics where available (Porto, Arsenal, Milan, Real, Barcelona, Valencia, Deportivo etc) or my own tactics created based on principles of Chinghis'.

@miguelfcp , Hmmmm, just passed that video of your new teenage Wonderkid Keeper onto WADA as I have not seen moves like that since Lance Armstrong used to float along a Tour de France in an effortless manner. :NONO::NONO::NONO:

:OT: Will be most unhappy if this global heatwave continues and ends up turning our little blue and green planet into a blazing fireball and thus prevent me mastering the Default Originals Challenge in PES 6 and winning WEFA Championship and League 1 double in PES 3.

I am concerned as maybe our pal @rockstrongo , can confirm, that the arctic is ablaze with
wildfires ?

The end times are here, that dude who played a Civilization game for ten years and saw the planet reduced to a wasteland was spot on..........:COAT::COAT::COAT:

@WhoAteMeDinner I get what you're saying, but does that mean that Chiellini should have punched one in the net cos Saurez bit him?

@miguelfcp That'll be great if you can get 4/5 to retire in one season. I wonder if there's a limit to how many can retire at once?

@mattmid , I would say matters mate, you are right, we should not resort to retribution and revenge tactics, but humanity is not like that and the likes of Maradona, Romario, Edmundo (did he kill someone :?) and Neymar today are products of very difficult and impoverished upbringings.

Are you in a VAR studio? :P
Here's a photo of what you see as you walk into the living room:

All this scripting/handicap/cheatingAI problem in my eyes started to be too obvious since PES 2008 and the introduction of "adaptiveAI" which i believe does pretty rigid what is meant to do. In collaboration with the file "settings.dat" as someone has correctly mentioned many times in 2018 topic months ago. It simply reads how many games you have played and adapts the stats cheating of CPU against you . The only thing that changes is that in older games it was well masked while in 2018 is more obvious even from a littile child.Thats why for example a pass will be mispositioned when not the circumstances for a bad pass are met,or why CPU can score against you from a 30meters screamer in 13 and 14 while it is closely impossible for a human player to score from such a distance with an average player, either the shoot will go straight to the gk or the shooting animation in 14 will be executed so slowly that the opponent defender will cath up and block your shooting lane.
I know it sounds more as a theory but for me the best proof was in 2013 where i started vs superstar.Aftet some matches i found the AI was bombering me for no reason so i went to TopPlayer.I was competitive in the first games and after some matches i started losing every game hands down.It was weird cause my team improved so i should play bettet than the start. So i renerfed to professional where after some matches i couldn't loose. Here is the wierd part. When i reupgraded to TopP and SS,it was almost impossible for me to loose less than 0-3 when in the beggining i achieved many 1-0 wins and draws. In the second run after prof i could not connect more than 3 passes successfully even in my own half.I thought maybe i got "soft" cause of professional but after weeks of playing i saw that i was not improving despite the time advance i was getting only worse.

First master league game, celta viga at home to granada at the stadio municipal de balaidos had to convert my formation to a 4 4 2 instead of 4231 i used at the beginning of the match and i saw myself 1-0 down, it was 1-1 with that volley.
Shortly after that in 89 min, granada go forward and keeper found himself in no man s land for 2-1 granada i thought i lost it by that time, but soon deep into injury i managed to make it 2-2,and it finished like that. Next stop bilbao at home again

Haven't been able to get any PES in over the last few days, real life is frustrating. Got a few hours to myself tonight so should be able to get a Pes sesh in which I'm quite looking forward to.

Normal Gif service shall resume.

I'll be jumping between WE9LE, 13 and I'm gonna install '14 tonight - Wish me luck with that one, I hear it's gonna be a nightmare getting this patched and upto date with DLC!

This is exactly why I don't like the current PES games. The AI just cheats you on both ends (his own team becomes stronger and your team becomes a local pub team). Team spirit has really made me stop playing the Master League on the current PES games. How on earth can the same goalkeeper be Gianluigi Buffon (quality wise) in a high team spirit team and Loris Karius havin' a bad day in a low team spirit team? I want to lose a game because I'm playing bad, not because of bad programming. This concludes the ranting part.

I'm currently enjoying PES 6 on my PS2. After a hard fought D2 cup win in my first season with Celtic (and finishing almost at the bottom of the table in that same season) I'm fighting for promotion in the second season. We score many goals, but also concede many goals (there's only one team that has more goals against). I can't blame the players or the AI, it's just me being bad at defending :SHHH:

My first eleven is mostly like this:

Gk: Ustari
LB: Wilson
CD: Gary Caldwell
CD:Virgo
RB: Del Grosso
DM: De La Red
CM: Sno
AM: Ibson (C)
LW: Riordan
ST: Aghahowa (currently leading the topscorer chart)
RW: McGeady

I recently bought Leroy Lita and Morimoto (Catania) to add more options to our attack.

This summer has been insane, two days of rain and crappy weather since may.
I'm sitting indoors with a fan.
I have 2 minutes to the ocean but I'm to hot/tired to swim
Yeah we're in for mate

Cheers mate, yes it's gonna be a Def setup, and hopefully the odd counter, luckily enough CR7 has been sold to Bayern.
Looking fw to it though,a real challenge

@WhoAteMeDinner: the WADA won't find a thing. He's a bioengineered human, designed to be the perfect merger between Goalkeeper and field player, and they'll have to keep quiet once they find out about it...or else, how would the population react knowing now there are superhumans out there?
Romours floating around that he spent pre season in Russia.
Will manager @miguelfcp confirm?

@miguelfcp I wonder if he's a regen version of that Paraguayan keeper, Chilavert I think it was, that used to take free kicks and possibly penalties too if memory serves me right. :D Or possibly with those moves he could be warming up for a scorpion save.
