Don't agree with You. Rose Park in Pes looks very similar to Villa Park but El Libertator nowhere looks like Camp Nou.

I have stopped more than i have conceded but Napoli finished 4 out of 10 plus in one game. It wasn't situational it was like Napoli would only attack like that.
No i admit it isnt automatic as i have made some brilliant blocks but i just find the reliance by the AI in their attack doing this is annoying.

Im not seeing that many high lines, im playing as Inter at the moment and im not getting that many chances to break through any high lines. It seems the AI sit deep when i use a team like Inter, Roma or Liverpool.

The patch has made the game worse imo, even in local multiplayer its like arcade ping pong with zero physicality.
And the passing is worst i have ever seen, i have sometimes held thumbstick left and the pass has gone right, no exaggeration!

Online is terrible at this moment. I don't know how to play. It's like different game.
After a long weekend post-patch i agree that KONAMI delivered on all areas they announced and some things beyond. What stands out most for me is the immense variety in outcomes and the higher position of CPU defenders, which makes it a little bit easier to get behind them.
So i am conceding more goals due to the better shooting awareness and the resulting trouble in my box, but i also can play counterattacks (with low teams) now. Maybe that makes the game a bit more speedy at times, but general game speed as well as passes are same as before (maybe even a bit slower).
Playing on Full manual, legend difficulty, offline.
So without a doubt PES still has its issues on the pitch and a lot of issues off the pitch. But to me it is the most lifelike replication of football to this day, which seemed literally impossible to me regarding the mess of PES2017 where they are coming from. Given what they did in these two years to improve the gameplay is remarkable to me, especially when you take a look on EA which seem to go backward in technology.

Off line, I feel that game speed has been increased.i had it at -1 but after the patch it feels faster to me.
Also i feel Cpu agression has been pumped up a lot in ML.They press almost all the time now (not only top teams) & they dont seem to have an impact on stamina,plus they are more agressive in all other area of the field.

So I started a Master League post patch. Newcastle Utd. Just played first game in pre season tournament v Celtic [Superstar difficultly]
I play 4-3-3, aggressive pressing, my DMF drops between the centre backs and the full backs attack. It’s a joy my friends, a joy.
I won 1-0, a Kenedy header. I was out of my seat. I just don’t get that feeling with any other football game.
I am in love with PES again and it makes me happy. Need to start the cowboy game at some point, it’s sitting on my hard drive since Friday but I need a football fix.

Missed out on the CSL by one point with Jiangsu Suning (normal league mode). Some great games along the way though, come back wins but a couple of frustrating draws (a 0-0 draw with many missed chances, and a 2-2 draw where the opposition equalised from an easily avoidable corner I needlessly conceded). Really enjoyable, will try master league when I find a patch I like, worried that transfers will kill the immersion though!

Peter, if I remember correctly you also were quite focused on individuality in football games like me.
What do you think about Pes 2019 in this terms? I'm actually enjoying more than I tought I would have the "environment" the game is in, but I still have my high doubts on player characterization. It's like I can't tell differences between players the way it should be. And to me it would kinda be a game killer..

For me I'm pretty happy with the individuality from my experience so far. But it should be said I only got the game at the weekend and playing in CSL. Alex Teixeira is by far the most useful player for me and is a level above dribbling with the ball. In terms of CPU players the likes of Hulk and Paulinho have stood out. But I feel this may just be because of the fairly low level of the average CSL player. Maybe playing in EPL, La Liga etc I wouldn't see such a difference.
It is something that needs to be improved but for me it is passable. Also no way I would have bought the game for more than £20 so have to take that into consideration.
I can't say I agree with Online becoming worse since the patch. I keep going back and forth between PA1 and manual (I have two PSN accounts just for the sake of it, lol) and I can hold my ground with lesser teams against the Barca/PSG:s everybody picks. My main thing I have done is to completely stop using pressuring (they just ping pong through it) and taking away my finger from R1 all the time when on defense. Works quite well but it is hard work, you can't realx for a second. And I'm using all my subs no matter what.

Not really sure but it looks like when you do a normal shot, they automatically do finesse(R2) shot on some situations.
I played 6 games online friendly and it happened twice.
Maybe this is also the reason we've been noticing that AI shoot more finesse shots since the patch.

Just played my first ever game on PES2019 and had constant low crosses against me from the AI and got reallll sad. then i realised, it hadn't installed any patches yet

What mode are you playing in and what level? Because it is really funny sometimes, how the experiences of two users of the same game can be the exact opposite. I am halfway through a Colombian league and all the COM teams are doing is park the bus in the box. The first few games were a bit more 'open', but the longer I go, the more impossible it gets to penetrate their defense.
Perhaps it's because I am only playing on 'Professional' (and on Superstar they apply different tactics)? Or because I am playing in a career mode where – in my experience with PES – there is always a time-based factor involved (Team Vision) that doesn't play a role in exhibition matches? Or perhaps I use different tactics? Perhaps there is a difference after all between Colombian and EPL teams, but you need to play at least 10 consecutive matches in a career mode to make it come out? Who knows... The game's AI logics and their rationale have always been a mystery to me.
Don't get me wrong. I do not want to slag off your experience as something of a non-issue just because mine is different. To the opposite: I think the game has become too complex and too contextual to make generalizing statements on "how things are now".

That is soo true.
I have no idea how does AI work myself.
Some people are saying that they can easily go up to the COM penalty area unchallenged where as I have troubles in coming out of my own half most of the time. On Superstar or Legend they pressure me from the moment I kick the ball out. Im finding myself afraid to pass the ball with my GK when I see AI player not far from him. Have to pick the place to kick very carefully.
Plus AI is constantly changing their mindset. If its a weaker team they switch to defense straight after kick off but when I score they go to attack. Im finding it difficult to break them down.
After patch they are much braver which sometimes gives me opportunity to counter, but the flip side is, once I loose the ball their counter are lethal.
Im really enjoying it but at the end had to switch to PA1 as with the constant pressure from AI I couldnt create any chances with my gammy passing.
One thing that annoys me a bit are High Shots in penalty box on Advanced Shooting. When I power them up im usually hitting crossbar from up close. When I put just a bit of power they have a floaty, weak shots. But dont want to go back to basic shooting as advanced shots from outside penalty box are so damn rewarding!

There is indeed a quite big disparity of opinions on defence. But I can't say it's so monodimensional either.
Personally I play on superstar and on my still limited experience there is some good variety on behaviour. I've seen teams parking the bus or pressing to my same box with some unseen ferocity (like Leipzig in CL.. they were man marking every single defender on my goal kick among the other things).. deep defenses sometimes and super aggressive markings other..

Just wondering what difficulty (PA) people are playing on (don't have patience for manual) to enjoy decent games.
My experience so far:
Top Player - Too easy. Opposition camps in their own half, don't press and invite wave after wave of attack. Games will occasionally look closer than they actually are due to the AI's knack of scoring from one chance.
Superstar - Absurd levels of scripting and cheating. AI wins nearly every physical duel and footrace and can walk the ball into the net in the blink of an eye. Chore even when winning. Goals usually scored by hot potato passing until an AI marker drops off somewhere. Dribbling/skill/headers/long range shooting and hold up play nigh on impossible.
Thoughts?

Right now, after playing PES post-patch, my biggest gripe with the gameplay (let alone everything off the pitch) is players movement.
I know I've said this before, but my head just can't get around it when I play. I can't understand how the devs and people at Konami/PES Team don't notice this when testing the game.
Players move so stiff and rigid. Either in a straight line or 45°. So edgy.
How players go from jogging, to running to sprinting is not natural either. And the noticeable loop animation when sprinting in a straight line for a few meters, you can literally notice when the animation starts - when it stops - and when it starts again. Which is odd because most of the new animations included in PES 2018 and PES 2019 are so lifelike, that I wonder why the haven't totally recreated these 3 simple but vital concepts for a football game: Walking, Running, Sprinting with and without the ball. Oh and changing directions too, sometimes players do a weird thing with their legs and torsos, that one wonders who don't they break their spinal cord.

I dont have the game but in previous versions Challenge means that the board give you different targets and i think you can be sacked. I could be wrong though.

Superstar for me. Top Player is easy. The issue is Team Spirit. Wait until that’s higher and you’ll enjoy the matches, the first 6 or so when TS is low is crazy. But coming from FIFA which is way too easy even on Ultimate, I am enjoying the challenge.
Thanks! I think will change it to Classic. Because I play on Superstar, I will probably not get the chance to build my Newcastle side. I need better players and time to develop the squad.
Saying that, the board only expect me to finish 9th which is achievable but I don’t know if I can handle the stress of it!

I've only played a couple of games offline exhibition mode using English D2 teams, not sure if it's the quality of the teams themselves but the AI defensive positioning seems pretty poor on superstar. I've had a bunch of enjoyable games though and the AI in general are so much better than at release.
I've also played a couple games online trying my demo tactic of defensive shithousery and stealing a win... No luck so far, the advantage assisted players have over manual is too great unfortunately.

Yeah i did the same. Last thing I want is to build a team for the future and get sacked after a season...
Most of you might have a diferent idea, but I’ve always felt that game flows on momentum, and if you play PA1, and start nailing most of the passing, CPU also gets a boost, because the game tries to achieve certain stats at the end of each match. The match will be a bit easier to play, but some things will happen more often, and sometimes I believe scripting is more noticeable than in manual pass, where you already fail enough, so the CPU doesn’t need that bit extra of help to make your life harder. It’s what I feel anyway.

There is definetely a bit of that. But as much as it was very noticable to me before the patch, after its not the worst. Its enjoyable.
Ps. When I play on manual COM really dont need any help... they would have to start scoring own goals to level the chances...
