PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

I really love this game post patch. City players started dribling even Aguero fall and cheat to get get a penalty and he had. Sane scored from outside of the box and game was really life like. It's not perfect but it's closest game to real life until now. Can't play other game after the patch also, ball physics and that stuff just turn off all addictivness that pes gives me :)

What mode are you playing in and what level? Because it is really funny sometimes, how the experiences of two users of the same game can be the exact opposite. I am halfway through a Colombian league and all the COM teams are doing is park the bus in the box. The first few games were a bit more 'open', but the longer I go, the more impossible it gets to penetrate their defense.

Perhaps it's because I am only playing on 'Professional' (and on Superstar they apply different tactics)? Or because I am playing in a career mode where – in my experience with PES – there is always a time-based factor involved (Team Vision) that doesn't play a role in exhibition matches? Or perhaps I use different tactics? Perhaps there is a difference after all between Colombian and EPL teams, but you need to play at least 10 consecutive matches in a career mode to make it come out? Who knows... The game's AI logics and their rationale have always been a mystery to me.

Don't get me wrong. I do not want to slag off your experience as something of a non-issue just because mine is different. To the opposite: I think the game has become too complex and too contextual to make generalizing statements on "how things are now".

My issue is not the number of players in the defense. It's the space between the defense and midfield. Even when they park the bus, they backtrack all the way down with 7 players on a line.

When I say high line, I meant how deep the defensive line is. I think there is a bit misunderstanding so my apology.

Set up a Konami Cup with Liverpool and won a 6-5 thriller against a team from Venezuela. Impressed that only one of their goals was of the low cross variety. For me, still the dominant way for the AI to score. Would be nice to know how for some players these goals seem to be in the minority now.

This game comes alive in broadcast cam.
Just have to get used to the camera changing by the touch line but it won’t do it for long periods

- Try Wing Back Tactics
- Mark their wingers with your side MF's, so when side MF's go back it will leave your SB's to cover the area and prevent them being lobbed.
- Switch to your SB's when they attack and use secondary press with your side MF's to pressure their wingers.

Best formation for me is 4-4-2 which gives me wide MF's to cover back flanks. These are all extreme precausions, which I was using pre-patch. If they work for you, then you can gradually tune them down and see if its still effective. What you can remove and what should you keep.

i repeat myself again... ;)

post patch, this game is a joy to play!! its so good weighted, the pace (at -1), fuma controls, the physicality...
that randomness the PES series always was known for, is back! yep, i said it! :D this "everything can happen anytime" feeling is back. for me at least.

when im playing this game right now, and leaving my cowboy game aside, then this is telling something. i've been playing for years now... ah f' it, you all know and i don't have to explain myself. ;)

its just pure fun with PES these days. i like it. and i don't have any prob when you don't like it! :D and that feels so good.
sure, i could moan about all the bad stuff that is still there. but you already know about this. what you don't know about is how much fun i am having right now. :D

had a friend over this afternoon to play some matches. he beat me 2:1 in the first match. second one got drawn 0:0! pure fun!

this game isn't perfect and yes, we (and myself) will move on and pick the next stuff that needs fixing. thats just normal...
but for what it does right now i can't blame the game. it is putting a smile on my face, letting all the good stuff overrule the bad stuff for me! thats it...

just a quick shoutout... a little text to let you be part of my good feelings right now! these words don't do this game justice as i'm not able to put it all down in words what i want to say! ;)
have a good night everyone!

I tried an online divisions game tonight , don't normally play online. I was Milan and they were napoli. For whatever reason they seemed lightening quick..beat me to every ball by yards and every through ball cut open my defence. Was weird. I lost 2-1

Anyway good part was back to my league as Liverpool. Currently 3 draws in league and 1 euro win.

Next league game got beat by palace 2-1 ..i went 2 nil down with zaha taking the piss a lot. 10 mins to go and brought on big shack and he changed the game salah pulled one back but was unable to equalise.
Next game , probably best to date . Home v Everton . 16 fouls 9 AI fouls inc a pen and 7 from me. Was a brutal derby. I went 1 nil down , levelled up with Robertson overlapping . They went 2-1 up. I brought on lalana in 80th minute and he scored on 82, 92 and a pen in the 94th (I dived on contact). Final celebration was team in the crowd. 4-2 ..classic

I play online divisions on full manual and I have to say that this is the best pes experience since at least Pes 13 for me (after the latest patch) maybe even since Pes 6. It plays so nice now online I don't know what they have figured out but it's really responsive and fun. In online divisions I didn't even experience momentum or scripting until now I just hope it stays like that. In my club I experienced momentum as the games just felt weird and I struggled to win against easy opponents that I beat with a high score before and vice versa. But divisions is great and almost every guy that I play chooses a low rated team.
I don't have anything to moan right now I just hope that I don't experience scripting/momentum then I'm fine for the next few months.

For Pes 20 my wishes right now are.

- new and better physicality system (with button pressing for things like pulling on shirts)
-better shooting (its decent but could be better)
- finally better menus
- completely no scripting and momentum in both off and online
- no more floating keepers
- better player ID (strong players stronger, passing stat more obvious and so on..)

That is soo true.
I have no idea how does AI work myself.
Some people are saying that they can easily go up to the COM penalty area unchallenged where as I have troubles in coming out of my own half most of the time. On Superstar or Legend they pressure me from the moment I kick the ball out. Im finding myself afraid to pass the ball with my GK when I see AI player not far from him. Have to pick the place to kick very carefully.
Plus AI is constantly changing their mindset. If its a weaker team they switch to defense straight after kick off but when I score they go to attack. Im finding it difficult to break them down.
After patch they are much braver which sometimes gives me opportunity to counter, but the flip side is, once I loose the ball their counter are lethal.
Im really enjoying it but at the end had to switch to PA1 as with the constant pressure from AI I couldnt create any chances with my gammy passing.
One thing that annoys me a bit are High Shots in penalty box on Advanced Shooting. When I power them up im usually hitting crossbar from up close. When I put just a bit of power they have a floaty, weak shots. But dont want to go back to basic shooting as advanced shots from outside penalty box are so damn rewarding!
Same for me.i play on SkyBet ,TP ,FUMA & they apply high pressure very much. Also they are extremely tight on all areas & lethal when they counter attack.I have to pass the ball back & switch sides more now before i make an attack otherwise i loose the ball and they score. It seems a bit harder to me now on TP ,after the patch.
But i play only ML.Game plays totally different in ML.Different gampeplay...

See? Complaining isn't such a bad thing after all ;)

I don't have the game though so I've no idea how this plays now.

Agreed. I played last night a lot of online matches. Great experiance for me at least. Don't forget about much better presentation&atmosphere. Its one of the most importatnt stuff in Pes. Better supporters chants( Fifa 19), realistic supporters banners(FIFA 19),full customize cameras( make the best and realistic angle camera during the match), nice menus and licensed scoreboards for each leagues(FIFA 19). It's nice to see stadium creator as well.

Played a few matches in a new ML file last night. Was great fun, but also ran into some unexpected things!

Hard data:
Team: Arsenal
ML difficulty: Professional
ML type: Challenge (instead of "classic")
ML team: Original players (Castledine and friends)

For starters, I played matches 10, 11 and 12 of the season. I sold a bit too many shitty players in the first transfer period so fatigue is building up quite quickly. I've set autosubs to early, so that if a player becomes fatigued, he gets changed right away. My star player is Jese and because he's my best, I left him on for too long, which resulted in a sprain injury (out for a week). Then in the next match there was another player that started limping and the commentator said something about fatigue and keeping him on would result in injury, so took him off. Next match, his energybar was half empty so he needed a breather.
Also, in the final match, a CPU player sprained something and had to be substituted (without me tackling him), plus one of my players had a serious injury after a tackle and is now out for 2 months.

Never had this in PES2018, and I really like it!

Do we have any official response about the Thai league? It will stay “exhibition-only” or it was a fault?
From editing perspective it was a key league to reduce the free agent pool from average free agents since the removal of secunda and serie b.
I hope we know soon as I want to start building my OF to play a proper ML.

Regarding the atmosphere i find it better lowering the all the sounds to about 8 (i still like having some commentary on) and having the pitch sound effects on max (15) and then turning up my tv - the sound of the net is superb and all the other little noises stand out

Is there no cristiano option file this year? just looked on PESgaming and can't find one... what's the best non Pesuniverse file out there right now?

Manual chip shots are a bit OP now since the patch. GKs giving too much space between him and the goal.

Playing online friendly in the past, you have to look for sign that the GK will move forward before you do chip shot.
Now, the GK is expected to move forward(or already outside 6 yard box) so just master your manual chip shots and you'll score a lot.
I wish human team GK is the same as before, where moving forward is less automated and you have more control when to make your GK move forward.

Not sure if this is an issue in basic shooting since they also adjusted basic chip shot accuracy.

That's why I'm not complaining about the pre-patched GKs because I know this will happen.

Yeb I have to agree on that. Chip shots are too easy a quick button press is enough to easily chip the keeper. They have to make them harder. Only thing that helps is a defensive goalkeeper. They don't rush out as much as the offensive ones.

Hope they'll adjust/patch it soon. Not really sure if they're doing tests with these gameplay changes because some issues are very obvious. Although, majority of the AI/gameplay changes they've done are nice.

I forgot which one it was, but after one patch after release, it felt like something I felt in the demo and in the full game has been gone.
The physicality, weight, physics...something felt being toned down.

Now after the latest patch, the game feels better again...so random...ball is bouncing off players bodies...feels more free and you have that anything-can-happen-feeling back.

I enjoy my ML a lot at the moment!
I don´t know if the following fact is just coincidence, but the matches against harder teams like Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea have been hard and I lost a few of them and had draws.
At least they felt different than matches against low teams.
Earlier I had it the way that matches against bigger teams have been easier than matches against low teams, who had been unstoppable.
I hope it stays that way.

I have made a few games on the PS4 and enjoyed the matches very much.
Came back to my ML on PC (EvoSwitcher, modded zoomed out broadcast cam, inca´s gameplay patch (i don´t know if it´s necessary now with the latest patch), gfx mod, a little lower game speed, ful manual).
I´m playing with Stoke and made it to the premier league now.

PC version with the above settings and mods and post patch: I clearly can say, best footie game I ever played!
Sure, it´s not perfect and yes, there are so many things left to be worked on...but fuck it, this game rocks!

It shows how big potencial they have it and not use it. Its killing me how this game can looks and plays but its not enough because for KONAMI’s mistakes.

You are so right about this! Absolutely agreeing here!

That's what I was saying in the Contrast thread yesterday.
At the risk of coming off as a hater (which I'm not. I've loved, bought, played and modded PES since forever) I get this strong feeling that a lot of people (not everyone, of course) want it to be GREAT because they can't like the other game, so they overreact to the patch, constantly.

I'm 100% sure that in a week, or two, or in a month, they'll start spitting out the truth, the one they don't want to admit now (not to us, but to themselves). We'll start seeing a lot more posts starting with: "I like BUT..."
Until that shy statement becomes "X is broken" or "If only they fixed this on PES 2020, it will be the best game".

With all due to respect, couldn´t believe reading this, since I noticed you as respectable user with reasonable postings and constructive criticism. if that´s your opinion, so be it.
Since you already had replies on this, I´ll leave it like that.

It just looks like people have to be sorry to finally enjoy the game...

So after the “great” patch

Still no injuries that affect ML significantly

Very few penalties won

No need to rotate the squad in ML due to accumulated fatigue or suspensions (for me or CPU)

Fouls are still too few and most of them are identical (late lunge,Brushed shoulders or an aerial clash)

Def lines are back to being too deep, Retreating and acres of space to run with the ball. Usually this issue is fixed after a couple of updates but it seems that it came back

AI is very robotic and the individuality is non existent

Champions league games occur in the daytime

BUT...

So many BLATANT issues have been addressed by Konami and the game is in an ok shape as we speak judging by their track record. It seems that they’re a very limited team in quantity and quality and this is the most they can deliver with this engine.

The community will help out and we will try to enjoy what we have.

Injuries are fine. They keep happening to me and forcing me to act on the squad.
When I don´t sub tired players I get the warning to do so, otherwise they might get injured.

So I can say, I get forced to be active on the team more than ever.

Never had any penalty though...fouls are okay, could be a bit more maybe, but then I also have matches where AI plays a bit agressive. Already witnessed two send offs in one season by CPU.

About CL and EL in daytime:
I didn´t have any of those yet in my ML since I just made it to the premier league now.
But I read it quite often, that those matches happen in daytime since the latest patch, which is a big immersion killer.
I hope they gonna fix it very soon.

have a good night everyone!

I´m with you on this!
And specially about the bold part: that´s the best way to go!

Keep on, dude!

The patch has made the game worse imo, even in local multiplayer its like arcade ping pong with zero physicality.

And the passing is worst i have ever seen, i have sometimes held thumbstick left and the pass has gone right, no exaggeration!

That just sounds like PA1 to me. The reason I can't use that at all.
I have to admit though, and this was pre patch as well, that manual passing just fucks me on a regular basis. I don't mind the odd bad pass on my behalf as those are my fault but rather when I make a perfect pass and the game just decides I really meant to pass to someone else, while the player intended to receive it just stands there and does nothing.

Agreed, this is something I have found happens a lot when using advanced through balls for me. I try to push super cancel like a maniac but nothing happens.

Well, since the patch, I have played a full season as Ben Woodburn on become a legend. While it is great fun and I can't stop playing (I have Shadow of the Tomb Raider gathering dust here), there are things that still need looking at.
In 46 Championship games, I won no penalties or got any red cards from the A.I.... Ive also seen no injuries.

Without harking on about the past, I remember in PES 6 that if I tackled a player with a C injury rating (Woodgate, Owen, Hargreaves), sooner rather than later, they'll be carted off on a stretcher. I can cripple Sturridge on 2019 all day long and he's fine.

Also wish that smaller stadiums had a quieter crowd. Woodburn got a transfer to FC Basel and all the games sound like there's a crowd of 90,000 people.

Finally, my option file is good now apart from a shit ton of random fake teams in the "Other Asian Teams" section. If anyone knows of anywhere I can download teams to overwrite them, let me know. Also, I wish Konami shoved them teams in the "Other European Teams" section... :(
