PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

She saw me playing pes 2017 and wanted to have a go. So I set her up as Barcelona vs some 1 star side, put it on regular and left her to play a game. Came back and she was on her third. Then got her involved in co op master league and she has loved it! We even played co op online a few times but that can be a little too frustrating at times. Persevere :)

You should get a platinum trophy for getting you girlfriend involved in the game. An actual, platinum trophy, delivered to your door

You can, but I want to maintain.the random element, if there was a filter to only pick teams from certain leagues it would be perfect.

Oh ok, I get you now. I did wonder what you meant. Would be a good idea, the only way to do it is to do your own draw... which can be fun but time consuming.

We used to do it years ago when I was a kid, dice pen and paper for our football. We would do cup draws writing the teams out on paper and cutting them out :D

Simpler times.

Firstly, the patch has made it very playable and in the most, I am enjoying it.

However, still quite a few issues. There's very little player individuality with the AI and most teams still play the same. No football game has managed to find a way to display a high difficulty level without the AI just pinging ridiculously fast balls around all over the place.

A few things are still highly annoying though. Champions League games being in the daytime is just weird. And I think the stadiums/pitches in game all just look the same. Same washed out pitch textures, same colour palette, same ambience. Coupled with the lack of AI variety, the game starts to feel a bit samey.

There are also two other things that highly annoy me (and have done forever with pes games) and that is firstly, the fact that defensive lines are so deep that you can literally walk unopposed into your opponents final third (think this is a fault with the "swarm the box" defensive tactic). Secondly, player off the ball runs are just so horrible to try and execute. Why are they so fiddly? Countless times I'll be on the counter and one of my ai controlled guys will be through on goal if he just moves, but the ai feels like it is deliberately handicapping me. So when I try and select him using the 'player run control, the ai always selects the wrong player, or if it does actually select the right player, the player just jogs. I know there is probably a skill to it, but it is so awkward.

Never had an issue with player run selecting wrong player. Your aim is off.
Player switch on the other hand is not perfect, sometimes cant switch to player closer to the ball. Especially if through ball is stronger. It passes by first player and Im trying to switch to another, closer to the ball and it wont let me. Maybe manual switch would work but I never tried it as it was happening too fast.

As for the second part, yes, agree. It shouldnt be called player run. Should be called player jog. Even when AI team member sprints into position and you select player run, he stops. Like player run was switching the actual run off and turning jog on.
Heard people explaining to me that players are tired, but i dont buy it at all. Its happening throughout the match.
Hence I dont use it at all.
I replaced it with R2 after pass or L1+pass. Works better. Pity that once u trigger another player this way it cancells the previous player run.

I can live with these sort of issues tho.
Not gamebreakers to me.

I see the scripting and bullshit is still present online. Killing this guy and then all of a sudden, my defender takes 40,000 years to clear the ball, keeper turned his back on a Messi freekick leading to cheap goals, clear one on one and my striker takes the softest shot ever that dips and hits the bar even after I power up for a rocket. I'm done with this shit.

The player lines seem to be deep as a way to help with the Goalkeeper not rushing out problem. That is my biggest issue. Because then you can just pass to your striker and a skill move and shoot and score. It can be very repetitive.

Agreed with the AI player individuality. They really have to program player roles better (in both games) not just characteristics, but also the intentions they should have. A deep lying playmaker trying to brake lines with passes, wingers playing as inside forwards cutting inside, but regular wingers trying to reach the byline. But how they do it should be based on the attributes. Mata on the wings should try to cut inside and immediately try the pass or shot, not dribble much, but say Robben will try go past a couple of defenders and then decide to shoot or pass given the success of his dribble. It's the dynamic programming that is lacking, that the AI understands the attributes of its players and uses them accordingly. But that would also require for attributes to much more noticeable, which they aren't so far.

When you play games like PES 13 and notice how quick dribblers aren't afraid to take on a man you quickly realise how much AI dribbling techniques has regressed in PES 19.

Definitely the sticking point for me at present, I want to see players like Neymar Mbappe beat 2/3 men at a time. Now its 80% pass and move and not near enough of what it should be.

Good work on the patch nonetheless.

There are times when CPU does dribble. They just need to make it more frequent. Even in PES 2018, players like Salah, Hazard, Messi, Neymar, etc dribble more than now. The obsession with tiki-taka passing is annoying for both footie games.

I agree to this, Konami are resorting to hiding issues rather than fixing them, When my full back takes the ball and runs with it all the way to the edge of the box unchallenged with every one retreating then it is somewhat silly.

I don't know if adjusting tactics or Incas gameplay patches can help, But the reality it that we're still going in circles for 3 or 4 years trying to solve the same issues which turn up again and again.

Why are you still playing PES19?

We are in 42019, PES19 was good back then, but now, wow, you are missing out. Theres woman with robot arms in the game now....

In the near future in Pes will be next two licensed British stadia. All British stadia: Anfield, Emirates,Celtic Park, Inbrox and Rose Park( Aston Villa). Its not bad at all.
Still, FIFA19 has 102 stadiums as it stands, Pes19 has 43. Thats huge difference. Especially now, they need to bring a lot of small stadiums, even fake ones.

Another thing is - whats the point of having stadiums if, apart of intro before the match, we dont see them for the rest of the match.
We should see the stadiums more, during replays for example. Or when ball goes out, it would be nice to see few shots of the stands.

And managers. We need to see managers, bench and their reactions. Whats the point of customising your manager if you wont see him for the rest of the season (apart of ML intro).

This is it. This is the time, where gameplay on the pitch just needs polishing, but everything else requires major renovation.
I firmly believe this was their last year, where they could get away with only gameplay on the pitch.

Did the new update remove the option to change the time of the day for cup games? I was playing CL games at night a month ago now i only have an option "-"

It’s not a skill pal. It’s completely broken and has been for a long time. It’s something I used to use a lot. Tell a player to make a run and I would not pass to him but monitor it and play passes until I wanted to slip him in or find a cross to them. It used to be great but now is another big reason why I just don’t bother with PES. Fundamentals like that are still broken. They may play it off like it’s nothing but to press a button for an AI player to sprint and it’s works when it feels like is terrible. They’re supposed to sprint too, not jog, the jog comes from the the CPU having s meltdown.

Yep I think the sprint command is broken as well. Last time it worked properly was PES2017 I think.
The part where they don't run, I mean. Picking the correct player is on the user.

@gabe.paul.logan
I think the patch/update broke it. I played Europa League games through League Mode (Danish) before the patch and it was all night games.
Anyone with a Twitter account please report this to OfficialPES (+ the issue with sprint command)

Got the game for £26.85 from Simply Games and i am enjoying it after d/l the patch. But that is all this game is worth retail, tbh. Konami need to take a giant step out of the nineties to bring this title up to today's expectations.

The LCS is much less prevalent now, it's no longer an issue.
Only thing they might not have tuned is the back turned pass accuracy, which seems to be 100% for the CPU.
Also the power is often too strong on these.

If you've been using a dt18_x64.cpk - then remember to remove it from the DpFileList.bin,
else it will still be active when not using Live Update.

Loving the post update gameplay. One thing that I'm starting to see a lot of, and would love to hear if others are as well, but has the CPU scored a low shot on anyone? Or a slotted finish? Seems like all goals are in the air, sometimes upper-90 compared to low shots. Just wondering.

The high line by the CPU is making it really easy to win matches now. It's like all defenders have Cahill syndrome now where they keep backtracking. Also I notice that my defenders sometimes takes ages to follow an attacker and their marking is horrible. Also I am getting offline input lag in PES 2019.

You're clutching there. That's like saying the Nou Camp is in FIFA because they've got El Libertador.

I'd also disagree that 2 English stadiums is "not bad". I appreciate they're limited licence-wise but I'd never describe what they have as anything other than severely lacking.

I hope that is sarcasm lol.

Of course I have, there are also new animations ect.

But the LCS is still rife.
the only time I see this is in the right situation like i have left gaps by pushing forward too much. Certainly not rife and the AI doesnt automatically divert to that tactic. In about 15 matches I might have seen 4 or 5 low cross attempts and only one goal. All others have been varied wide and centre

Not sure if anyone's noticed but the patch defaults the bundesliga to 20 teams and puts the 2 German teams officially in the game back into other European league.
I noticed when looking to start a master league .

Shot or Cross?
Looks like a shot to me but might be a cross since Messi's asking for a cross.
If it's a shot, it's nice that AI's occasionally attempting shot at this angle.
If it's a cross, it's nice that they are missing crosses as bad as this.:D

EDIT: Btw, the commentator said, "He's tried one". Must be a shot?

Well you are unlucky then as I think you are the only person ive seen continue to complain that the AI spams the low cross.

I see a couple a game or so, but its not an automatic goal and its fine in the sense that ive give them the by line, so by default you hit it in hard and low.
