PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

Which is a shame because I think it's a fantastic idea, to make a career mode about more than just buying the best players you can afford.

They could also just give newly transferred players an orange or red arrow for a few games. This way the rest of the squad doesn't suffer.

EDIT: Or even an entirely new purple (e.g.) arrow. That only newly transferred players get.

How do you even increase TS? It seems random af. Like, why does my TS increase when I put a
Zimbabwean in the starting 11 over an English player (when all of the rest of the squad is English too?)
Nothing to do with nationality. It is, in theory (though perhaps not execution), a much better system than FUT's (does myClub work based on nationality too, I didn't think it did). It's a much more realistic idea.

It's to do with the style of play they're used to. After a player's attributes, there's a page of tactical instructions - the same ones you pick when setting up your formation. Stuff like pressing/stand-off, short-pass/long-ball, possession/counter-attack, etc...

All of that is (supposedly) based on the instructions they had at their previous team - so if you buy a midfielder used to standing off, and want him to press, the TS takes a hit. Which presents you with a choice - do you give him the instructions he's used to? Or force him to get used to playing your way?

What TS actually does though - I'm pretty sure a low TS score A) boosts the AI's abilities (leading to insane first-touch passing and tap-in goals you can't do anything about) and B) lowers your squad's passing/defending attributes.

A high TS likely does the opposite - which is why it goes from "way too hard" to "way too easy". In my experience.

They definitely need to be better, but the one thing I do like is that if you run with the celebrating player to the ball he will kick it back into the net again, only satisfying celebration in the game. :D

If I am still trailing when I score I make the run to pick up the ball every single time. I actually like the celebrations, I thought I would hate them when they first got introduced but I have fun with them actually

The one where you take pick up the corner flag and start pretend shooting people with a smile that would scare off the Joker though, not sure about that one, seems almost insensitive in today's climate

it does, and as it gets easier, the speed of the same seems to increase as everything becomes a bit more fluid. I usually end up switching to -1 when i'm at a high TS.

A lot of their celebrations are still based on the older games, have noticed a few from PES 6 with minimal differences.

My biggest problem with celebrations is when it goes to the cutscene then all players are re positioned. So if your player is near the goal and you press a button to start a cutscene celebration they will instantly be 20-30 yards away on the pitch, just a bit jarring. :)

PES is discounted on PSN at the mo.

Any other year and I'd be on this if I hadn't already got it that year.

I'm seeing the discount and wondering if PES deserves my money after all the "investment" in past years.

I probably have a week or so to decide but I have a feeling I will wait for a heftier discount come summer (or just give it a miss as a reminder to myself...whenever I will look back at my collection and see no PES 2019 I will remember).

Was thinking the same yesterday. I hate TS.

Has anyone here got past the first 10 or so matches? Do the games get a bit easier when TS increases? I am worried I will get sacked, my owner wants me to finish 9th with Newcastle.

I can´t say much about TS, except that the idea is fine, but bad implemented.
But I have the same struggle with difficulty. I switch between regular and professional on full manual.
Professional, I was on a losing streak and it never got better. I didn´t wanna spend another year in the 2nd english division.
That was prepatch though...don´t know if proessional is any different now with the latest patch...I have to try that.

I went on regular (post patch) which I really enjoy as Ai also scores there and matches against bigger teams are harder too. But it´s a tiny bit too easy.

Celebrations are awful. That pause and jogging before the celebration starts kills any atmosphere.

Yeah I have to agree! It looked better in PES 2018!.
The transition from scoring to celebrating looked a lot better last year.
Specially when the player dances in a circle with backward steps, turning his body to another direction and pointing out (to the assistant I guess), looks quite off.

Let me try to sell you on League mode.
-addional cups included, like the Euros
-teams don't look ridiculous after one transfer window (because there aren't t any)
-No team spirit

But no team transfer I guess. No squad building. No board to please.

Just seems ridiculous to play? I am really tired of having footie games that doesn't live up to my own hype.

There is always something that don't live up to expectations in both titles.

Really strange thing in my ML. Had the perfect games in the pretour. Good games. When normal season games came along it was just fast... Simple. Hard to describe really but you guys know it.

Sold it 3 weeks ago but it's dropped to £20 on the store, with a combination of cd keys and game top-up cards I've managed to get it for £16. Really enjoying the other game this year but i reckon this is worth another go at this price.

Was a good game, but nowhere near genius, in my opinion.

What i said above Pes 2013 was not good enough but not in the toilet.

I think it was ahead of its time in many things.
The most complete football game to date. You could even add real pictures to create a face in EDIT MODE.

When Konami tries so hard to go re-create the PES golden era now, I always think they are aiming for PES 5-6, when they should be aiming for PES 2013.
But that's just my opinion. It seems I gotta be the one that goes against the grain lately...

Really? it was option in EDIT MODE to add real pictures for faces? On PS3 too?

I have to check it. If it true it's BIG joke what they are doing with EDIT MODE. The same was with mp3 files for chants. It exist in the past but not in this time.

The funniest part is that when they talk about this featured being removed from PES 2014 onwards, their excuse is that they only have HQ faces now. In using photo scans like from PES 2011 to PES 2013 would bring the quality down.

Yeah right... like PES generic faces weren't AWFUL to begin with.

Ok it's time to write another post on official twitter pes account about it. Why they removed this option in Edit Mode!

Thats true regarding innovations. But purely from gameplay perspective I don't think it was as special as it's often remembered.

And yes, it's not PES 5-6 that should be an example of great gameplay in the series. It's PES 3 ;)

I will write to them until they make it :D I make Pes great again(if they listem me of course):BOP:
