PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

Why does it always feel like the ai have 8 players perfectly placed in defence when I get the ball? Is it just the way that the comp teams are set up? It just gets very samey very quickly. Getting quite frustrated playing this game at the mo'.
 
Of course it isn't but similar. I prefer 100% more have a similar stadium to original one than nowhere similar. It's huge difference at least for me.
And that's fine but to suggest it counts as an English stadium is as daft as saying El Libertador in FIFA counts as a Spanish one. Regardless of how close, they aren't the real thing.
 
Kernowdoc - depends on when you win the ball - the team you are and the team you're playing and their advanced instructions. Teams often revert to deep defensive line (or if you're getting round them with through balls they tend to drop deeper) it's the AI adapting to your style, mix up your advanced instructions. Attacking full backs works a treat on deep defensive lines.

This is something that we really need to consider and I think a lot of people dismiss it.
80-90% of us play same formation and same tactics in every match. Why the fuck do we expect AI to play different in every match??
I mean, modern football is not that complicated. You either pressure-possesion or defend-counter. Short pass or long pass. And thats basically it. So unless we change the tactics and approach to a match and unless we start reacting to whats happening on the pitch - we hardly should expect that from COM teams...
 
Just bought PES 2019 in the sale, enjoying myself so far. OFs have become a crazy world however, anybody know the best OF available for PS4 lads? Thanks in advance.
 
For now on, you need to pick up export there to there and see if they're compatible...
Since the DLC 2.0, there's some changes. CYPES or PESTEAM.it are the best option file for me at the moment, both have their strength and weaknesses.
Pesuniverse does a very, very good job this year but it misses some leagues.

About PESTEAM, it's in italian, a bit unknown sadly because of the banner language, but i could translate the instruction when the V8 version cames out (they're currently re-structuring what the DLC problems have caused) and of course gives a link.

For Brasileirao transfers, i recommand Thiagopeseditor (check on youtube), his work is way more accurate than Emerson Pereira option file.
Faces/Accessories/appareances/stats for every new players, even the remaining one.

Sometimes, the best editors are practically unknown... Most of the "super option file" with publicity and website aren't always the best.

My goal is to make something looking as a "whole" in terms of players stats from created teams, not for example some low level Libertadores teams better than some Serie A teams or whatever.

1st version will be out in 10-15 days more or less. But something durable.

This game is infuriating in master league. And I can’t play exhibition or League Mode for long as I need my transfers fix.

I was 1-0 up against Cardiff and yes you’ve guessed it, they score on the 92nd minute because my midfielder refuses to control the ball, does this weird sidestep animation thing [basically so the CPU can tackle me and win the ball] and then the Cardiff player just runs at my defenders who PART LIKE THE RED SEA for no reason whatsoever, the opponent just walks past them and scores with ease, like it’s supposed to happen.

I nearly broke the controller. This happens far too much. I’m a capable player, I position players well and play cautiously when winning and there’s only a few minutes to full time.

But this Team Spirit and scripting BS man...I can’t put up with it any longer it’s killing an otherwise really good version of Pro Evo.
I had a similar thing against Madrid in the CL with Lyon. 1-0 up away from home with 5 mins left. They try to break into the box, but I have 4 defenders all close together. I tackle their forward and the ball goes loose (but very close to my players), the cpu decided to player switch to the wrong player, so as I correct the switch something weird happens where the cpu controller player dribbles the ball into the back of the player in controlling, the ball ricochet's to their striker and he scores. Infuriating doesn't cover it.

I have always said this about pes. The scripting is too obvious. I get that's scripting obviously occurs, but it's usually subtle. In pes however, you go through periods where you cannot physically stop a goal no matter what you do.
 
Been playing some more post patch and still enjoying it. Few more gripes are creeping in more now the novelty of the patch has wore off though.

I'm sort of fed up with how the game looks on the field. It's very samey. Turfs look horrible. Stadiums all feel really samey. Coupled with the fact that most cpu controller opposition all play the same way and I am starting to feel like I am playing a demo. There's a lack of variety that's going to probably stop me from playing this past Xmas.

The issues with the cpu playing with 2 defensive midfielders and having the swarm the box defensive tactic is a big problem as it creates a huge gap in the middle of the pitch. User controlled off ball runs are terrible and general off the ball movement during a counter attack is poor. Players just slow down to a jog and let the ball carrier run past them. Maybe that's a tactic issue though.

I'm also noticing that all cpu scored goals fly into the top of the net. Literally can't remember conceding a low shot. I'm also noticing that the cpu doesn't dribble, which is weird. Most of their attacking play consists of ball forward, pass back into midfield, instant through ball to man who has just passed back into midfield. Catching the opposition in the situations is very hard, whereas it doesn't feel possible to run away from the cpu in similar situations, regardless of the speed disparity between the players.

Anyway, besides from those few moans, it's still good.
 
Was thinking the same yesterday. I hate TS.

Has anyone here got past the first 10 or so matches? Do the games get a bit easier when TS increases? I am worried I will get sacked, my owner wants me to finish 9th with Newcastle.
TS plays a huge role, BUT , it is not only TS that affects everything in ML. It seems to me that TS affects our team in attacking - defensive awarness & how our players doing things during the game.But it doent help you when the cpu boost comes on.Even with TS at 90s when they start playing 6 one touch pass & first time shot and goal there is nothing you can do.You just watch it happens

Yeah, good idea. I saw the deal on the PSN store last night too, so I did it myself and put my disk version online for sale.
But next year I might get this by the end of October including the second patch for cheap?! ;)
But if you look at it, the patch comes out, the game is playable with fun, and the prizes down to 25 bucks. It’s crazy. :)

Out of interest, has anyone ever seen a goalkeeper come up for a corner or a free kick??
No, now that you say it, I haven’t seen that for a while and I usually set my team up to full attack at the end of the game. Hm.
 
I forget who wrote this a couple of pages back but using PA1 and mix it up with som manual L2- passes is a really good advice. It reminds me of my Villarreal/Riquelme days, before all this PA1, PA2 mumbo jumbo.

I literally have no idea what effects TS. I hate it, I’d rather just have form arrows and nothing else.
TS increases when players make a "bond" with you as Manager.When you play often with a player & give him more playing time he can adapt better at certain Playing style (those offensive tactics, wide-middle etc) & behave better to a certain formation.So if you stick with some players more & a specific system-formation your TS increases.That is why i you decide some time to put a "new" player at starting 11 that does not have this bond with your play styles then you see TS going down(green arrow) & vise versa.Also,you can raize TS if you own (buy) players with specific attributes that affect this.For ex. if you buy a player with high level of captancy and make him Captain, then TS raizes.The game informs you for such facts & there other situations like the above (with other player "skills") that some have that affect TS.When you are about to buy a player you can check how "familiar" he is at the given moment with your play styles & understand how it may affect your TS.I mean ,you can find a player with great attributes but if you play "wide & counter" on attack & "high pressure & agreesive" on def & he is not good at these instructions & put him on the team you will see your TS go down & it will be up only when you play him a lot untill he get used with your play style. (untill they do, you better get familar with the defeat emotion ,hahaha)

Hey fellas now that the patch has been out for a bit aside from the keepers coming out off there line, what else has been improved with the latest patch, are the AI superstars more threatening, Chris Davies mentioned the ball moves a lot quicker has that effected the passing individuality when comparing a modric to an average player.
 
The overall attacking AI is superb now. Play someone like city and they are ruthless on the counter attack. Seeing all different types of goals. Game is superb in my opinion now.
 
The AI definitely plays different in the Master League.
Not seeing any shots from distance. Im still conceding but none from edge of box like in exhibition mode.
 
Yesterday I started Master League (challenge) with Lyon. Full manual, -1 game speed, professional difficulty. Started pre season tournament and I find the game harder than exibthion matches, also teams played very different and varied, Barca won 2-1 against me and so Celtic 4-1. Both games were very entertaiment and enjoyable, Messi dribbled against me and Suarez scored finesse shot from outside of the box. Match against Celtic was very difficult, I take the lead with beautiful header and the game after that was real war on the field, there are 20+ fouls during the game and 6 yellow cards. I think team spirit is what made the game difficult to me but I enjoyed and don`t feel cheated at all, even 4-th goal was own goal from my player while I was clearing the ball, my player lobbed my gk.
This year pes won the title on the field, really was miles in front of fifa, not to mention player individuality and flow of the game... Can`t wait to play more :)

AI individuality stands out more does it?
in my opinion it does but others say otherwise. I guess it depends on what you want. For example you know the lines of hazard, Silva etc on the ball. Lakarku is slow but a beast. But I also think team individuality is good. Palace for example were tough team, tight game but Everton more open , end to end lost of fouls (derby match)

Do they have PC version as well? I speak Italian, but couldn't find it on their website.

This is exactly how I feel.
The problem is this dropping back too often leads to a lack of midfield...it prevents you ever moving through the gears as a team because there's nothing progressive in the way the cpu transitions from attack to defence.
Too many of my games devolve into me coming up against a rubber band-type brick wall-which I absolutely love in theory, it's my idea of a football game (not every game should be like that of course).
However, instead of probing for gaps or playing a kind of cat and mouse game with the defence, it just becomes a slog as my teammate AI can't cope with the structure of the cpu defence and either stands still or just runs up against that brick wall.
There is so little horizontal movement from teammates the whole thing becomes a bit dull.
It's virtually impossible to play a barca type interplay with little triangles which you could in pes 17 and 18 because a) defences leave no. Space behind them and so don't engage you which means you can't take anyone out of the game and exploit space b) your team mates barely move, they keep equal distances between them at all times like they would in fifa in the past.
It feels like konami have screwed up with bad design decisions somewhere along the line and it's ruined teammate ai, for which pes has always been the gold standard (not in the efficient way fifa's teammate ai works, but through making creative runs and truly associating with your moves).

I went back to.pes 18 two days ago. I stopped playing it well before the final.patches as I fell out of love with games in general.
It's a breath of fresh air compared to 19. It has it's faults of course but the game feels free, dynamic, more compressed than 19, as bayern or napoli I can move through those gears and open the opposition out.
And although the pitches have less detail, the grass colour and tone matches real world pitches far more closely to my eyes.
And although the ai has it's issues, playing against real, Ronaldo benzema and bale can be a real handful, doing tricks, driving at my defence and generally scaring the scrap out of me.
Playing Dortmund, they swept the ball from right midfield on halfway out to reus with quick high cross field pass, reus drove at my right back, went past me with a proper trick than hit a low dipping drive into the far corner of my goal.

I genuinely like parts of pes 19 and I want it to succeed, maybe with patches it will. But right now, pes 18 feels more fun, more alive and more free. Whereas pes 19 feels oddly stale. I wonder whether subsequent patches will unlock whatever patches they've built into it's code like the ai patch did?
 
With a very improvised assumption,a human controlled team with TS 99 in ML plays like it does in exhibition mode.
 
Game is much, much better now. Would like to see more long range efforts from the AI though, like 20-30 yards rsh. Anyone seen them?

Just played a league match against Bournemouth - score 3-3. Fun action packed end to end game? No - Me peppering their goal for the whole match trying in vain to get the better of their 8-1-1 formation and their boosted, superhuman defenders and somehow forcing 3 goals out of them. Them scoring 3 one on ones out of absolutely nothing which were their only 3 attacks of the match. All put away by the deadly powerhouse that is Marc Pugh.

The flow of this game is an absolute joke. Punishing, unrewarding mess. Fun factor is gone.
