PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

You (or rather I) do see the CPU make passes into no man' land, especially high passes to the wing and once in a while through balls that go too far. This includes good teams on top player and superstar.

That said I agree with Chris, that the on point passing by the AI is still too much. At least lower rated teams should strugle to play balls straight to the feet of teammates and receiver should also have a harder time controlling the ball.
The worst for me is when low rated teams play tiki taka in the box and you feel like you've no chance of stopping it.

Hello, gentlemen.
I came home after 12hrs nightshift and just couldnt wait... downloaded the patch and played a match to check it!
Im actually surprised how much this game changed! And im also surprised how some people on twitter say its placebo patch.
When demo came out, this game had one little element that was standing out in compare to all football games I played - randomness
Ball was constantly surprising me, bouncing away from players legs. Sometimes I was bursting in laugh saying "What the hell is happening??"
And then it lost it with some update.
And now its back!!! Im not gonna lie - I hated low crossing obsession from AI, but I forgot how much I loved this ball unpredictability until I played this morning.
I dont know, am I more happy, that Low Cross obsession is gone, or that this ball randomness is back!
Its absolutely fantastic!
Played one match - 15 minutes, -1 speed, PA1, advanced shots, Superstar.
Man Utd (me) Vs Juventus (AI)
It was best fun I had on ANY football game in many, many years.
Finished 2-2. And I came back from loosing 0-2.
AI was aggressive....as fuck!
Pressure was unreal. Like on a Legend difficulty, when you dont have time to fart. I found it much harder than it was before on superstar. But much harder in such a nice and realistic way!
Some shots from distance that they had were unbelievable! In one match Ive seen dipping shots, rising shots, volleys, no-look passes, all sorts of craziness!
And keepers are so, so good now, with such a nice animations!

If I really had to be picky, id say that it got little bit hectic now and game seems faster, but its not game speed that changed. Its responsiveness and heavy touches that creates this impression. There was some ping pong passes on few ocassions but I also seen a lot of AI errors, both in passing and shooting.
Oh and I saw some dribbling from AI. Not FIFA style, more subtle, but it was definetely there.

So for me, honestly, 10/10.
Its a different game now. And sooo damn good!

There seems to be more fouls than PES18 and possibly more since the patch.

But how many of them are realistic? How often does the AI commit a professional foul to prevent a one on one for instance, or a deliberate foul in the box to stop a certain goal. Never in my experience.

Mostly either wild lunges out of the blue or nothing fouls from minimal contact which really shouldn't be given. Not very immersive at all. We want more fouls, but not just for the sake of it

I think it's mostly because the referee has been made harsher. Before the patch the CPU sometimes made sliding tackles which could warrant a red card in real life, but the ref let play continue. Same with the standing tackles.

I actually like the foul count right now, even if it sometimes seems a bit much. I had a game yesterday (I play on 12 mins) where the cpu made 7 fouls! All of which would've been fouls in real life too.

edit:

What a time to be alive. To be happy with foul-counts...

Whats the point of showing off stadiums in trailers when in game its the same cookie cutter cutscenes for every stadium ? I just wished there were unique cutscenes to show off the stadium and the atmosphere, it would add character to the game as well. Its a waste of brilliant workmanship because of 1 or 2 design decisions.

If You play online and you played Pes 6 online like me maybe its time to check our skill? What your ID?
PM me yours and i will add you

I have often felt maybe i am now bad at PES because i dont play much anymore but then they demos and beta come out and i win 21 on trot and i am reminded i am excelllent when game doesnt cheat me lol

if we play we need to best of 5 or 7 to negate scripting bias

Nope,you're wrong,you didn't have fun,it's placebo I tell you!

Honestly anyone who dosent see a difference in team style or quality, just do some real random matchups.

I picked Shanghai SIPG and played Police from Thailand in a EXB 10 min, top player. No mods at all, fresh install.

Let me start by saying im crap at the game, in my 'test' ML I won 3 games as Boca all season... yep, 3 games. Scored something like 14 goals in that time as well.

So when I play games I dont expect much, yet I came out on top 5-0.. FIVE! Thats like a miracle to me. Not only that, but Police were absolute gash, smacking the ball off the pitch, long balls to nowhere, poor touches, comedy defending.. I mean their poor keeper got nutmegged by Hulk, whilst also palming one into the top corner somehow :D

It was as random and crazy as you could get, I should have had 10.

Its one game, its not the be all and end all of PES opinions, but id recommend just going off on a limb and playing some games like this as you can really tell the difference between poor teams at that level.

Sounds like you kept them under lock and key

Haha! Yeah I was probably delusional after nightshift.. tomorrow ill be back to my grumpy self!

@mehuk -- if you fancy improving your abilities - I really recommend you checking some Spoony Pizzas videos on youtube. Especially tutorials and tips. This guy changed my play style 180°. Last year I was struggling with Top Player. I was still having fun, but I was crap. Few tips from him changed a lot. And he is very helpful. Always replies to people clarifying any questions or doubts. Really nice bloke.

Edit:
so, anyway, my friends...
I presume it will be quiet here for a while, now that Pes is enjoyable and RdR2 is out..
Last one is switching the lights off!

Yeah, I´m probably the most active member on this forum right now... I keep spaming the refresh button each 10 seconds just to see if someone has posted another feedback since the new patch. Wich means, I don´t have the game and I´m starting to feel frustrated about it lol.

Even I'm happy now!!!

Played a few games with the new patch and whilst it is an improvement, I certainly don't regard it as anything more than a meagre improvement on a what was a poor starting position in terms of AI. It's still nothing great. I loath the ubiquitous perfect, first-time, laser-guided passes and perfect first touch that every cpu player makes, no matter the stats of the players. I see the same very limited range of patterns of play over and over from every AI team. Yes, some weaker teams are definitely easier to beat but too many teams and players are essentially identical to one another when controlled by the cpu.

One big disappointment for me is that in fixed-cursor mode, your AI team-mates are still as poor as before the patch, both in defence and in attack. It was the only mode I played in PES2018 and I loved it - your AI team-mates played proper football, they defended well, they played some really varied attacking play and scored some terrific, creative goals. And it was great to use different tactics and watch how your team-mates responded. In PES2019, your AI team-mates just fanny around doing nothing much - they don't make any worthwhile attempt to defend and their attacking play is so limited and one-dimensional - the variety and creativity from 2018 is gone. It's like your team-mates are all playing at Beginner level or like they don't want to be on the pitch. It makes this mode completely unplayable for me.

By the way I started a ML with Genoa at SS. Leaving aside the awful International Cup (I hate every form of summer friendly in videogames.. why isn't it just completely skippable? :\) and announced meager to inexistent ML contents, I actually had two nice matches against Spal and Sampdoria. The game delivered a good experience and most of all, physicality kinda surprised me even if it's a tad inconsistent.. one time I'm having the most beautiful shoulder vs shoulder, the other the cpu just takes the ball as if my player is a ghost. But it's surely way better than 2018 and when it triggers, it gives a nice unpredictability to contrasts.

I managed to draw both games from the cpu, losing 1-0 against Spal and even 2-0 against Sampdoria (derby).. it seemed they both parked the bus and I was able to pressure them into a comeback that felt natural, with a number of errors by both. I may hate this game tomorrow or even next game, but credit given where due.

Regard AI dribbling.. against Samp I had this happening to me:

No idea what was different about it, if it was the counterattack situation with my team all forward, or if the cpu actually tries to dribble when it sees the percentage to make it by high, or if it's because it felt that there was theoretically just one man to beat.. but in the end, it tried to dribble and even with a nice trick as you can see.

So cpu dribbling it's there.. would love to know what actually triggers it.

Played a few games last night and a few this morning. The last one epitomised my experience - a Master League ICC game against Boca Juniors (on Professional).

They made 114 passes and missed 8 - their winning goal came from a passing move where every pass was first-time, perfect and there was nothing I could do but watch them score a tap-in goal (which was their second - the first being a high, powerful smash into the net, like 50% of the goals I've conceded).

In terms of what the patch set out to do - it's a big tick from me. Goalkeepers move, the AI's low crosses I've seen have made sense (and not felt forced), they shoot from range more often (again, without feeling forced).

But I'm feeling no difference between players - in possession (there's no beating a man with pace unless the attribute difference is an absolute chasm) - or out of possession (every player wants to pass, and every pass is perfect).

Playing as Newcastle, there are no stand-out attributes I can use to my advantage, and every team I've played just passes the ball around with ease (a couple have been more direct, and their passes are just as accurate, which begs the question - why bother with short passes).

My players also don't seem to understand the runs I want them to make a lot of the time, which spoils the flow and results in me coming up against a wall of retreated players - a few times I've been on the ball in midfield and had a CM to my left with tons of space in-front of him, and when I've tapped the through-ball button (aiming at the space), it's gone sideways (not forwards) - almost directly to him, but into the space on his left (not ahead of him).

I think the patch is genuinely great, but match-to-match I'm not feeling a big difference between games, and zero satisfaction when I score (I feel like shooting is nothing more than pressing the shoot button and the game deciding it for you - it's more like the game has "let you have one" as opposed to you nailing the aim, shot-type and amount of power).

That being said, something tells me to stick with it (because I'm struggling to win consistently - and a major factor in my love of the old PES games was how much you had to concentrate to keep a winning run going).
Yeah, it's good I hadn't bought it yet. I was almost convinced but this is a big no. Individuality should be a thing.

Its terrible time for me with Pes since the patch. I lose most of games online. I dont know how to play. Everyone beat me. I always had skill in Pes until now. They changed core gameplay. I feel that i have to learn once again how to play it.

This game is superb now..most fun I've had on a football game is old winning eleven games. Seeing such varied AI attack and defence.. fouls are also now spot on ..i conceded 12 last game and got 6..i need to tone charging around too much.. Seeing loads of different AI goals ..volleys , controlled finishes even been chipped.
Around individuality, there is definitely some. You can tell the difference between lakarku and sterling.
Also love how difference a sub makes. Playing international cup 2-1 down. Bring on hardy for kane and also Rashford upfront and immediately I could outspent the defenders. Scored a lovely advanced low shot passed the keeper as he rushed out to level it up before sterling wrapped it up..3-2

Before patch it was 6/10 ..for me now, on the pitch, 9.5 ..also looks lovely in hdr

Never been so happy to see the AI actually take on a man and beat him!

Tranfers are still so bad in master league. First 8 days of the window and Tottenham have already sold Kane and Vertonghen (Edit- there goes Alderwield too). Liverpool have sold Firminho, Van Dijk and Mane. And Chelsea are about to sell Kante. It's like one of the programmers for this mode just hates the premier league.

I started a ML as Ajax.
Went to Liverpool to sign Sturridge but the bars by the players name that indicates how likely you were of signing them were 5/5 for Firmino, Salah, Mane, Fabhino, Van Dijk, Keita. The only players that had 0 was Alisson......and when I played Lfc in the continental cup he didn’t play,

How hard would it be for programmers to put into the game the real lengths of players contracts? With the real release clauses - so Firmino, van Dijk, Salah etc would have 5 years left. Can’t be that hard.

Also signing players is a pain. I go to buy Foden of City. He will only sign a 2 year deal with a release clause - but the release clause is lower than the £8m I paid for him! It happens with every player I’m trying to sign.

The whole mode is half arsed.

Just played 3 games vs Super Star normal (formerly medium in Myclub) on FUMA settings with one silver CB in my squad and for the rest Bronzes below lv 30, but playable guys.

1-0, 0-0, 5-0. Response, physicality, advanced throughball, crossing, headers seem way better.... They finally finished PES 2017 then? :D
