PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

Someone on Twitter was saying its a bug and should be fixed in a update. Time will tell if its true :)

It's a premeditated intentional bug :0).

Since day one there is Thai League in the DB, but not Thai Cup.
In DLC 2.0, still no Thai Cup in the DB, it doesn't look like it's meant to be playable in ML.

So what is this Thai League for as it is? Play a bunch of exhibition games? Play online against PSG and Real? Get super overpowered Thai League players in MyClub?

lol how many games is that without a win?
Glad you're enjoying it post patch mate
I'm doing absolutely rubbish,played 6 games today,two draws 4 losses,32 points behind Juve in 1st,I'm in 11th
Getting sacked for sure mate.
Yes,I'm enjoying it though.
But will restart to sort out my mess with leagues etc

So after playing a lot of Myclub this evening I have to say that Pes online feels almost like a different game compared to the pre-patch game. It's so responsive now and almost like offline. The catch up bug is almost gone so you really have to watch out for that fast players on the wing. Overall on full manual (or with assisted shooting) it's really really fun to play.

But what the fu** have Konami done to Master League Online / MyClub???
After just 2 Months of playing (and not even that much of playing.. I only have 60 games now) I already have a Team full of World Class Players (even better than worldclass because a lot of them are Inform players).
I don't think they will get much money with this strategy as all the people already have the players they want so why spending money on it?!

My Team is
Olson 85
Jordi alba 85 Pepe 88 (inform) Ramos 89 Arnold 81
Busquets 91 (inform) Rakitic 90 (inform)
Lozano 87 (inform) C.Ronaldo 94 Mbappe 89 (inform)
Suarez 94 (inform)

After 2 Months with only 60 games that's ridiculous.
Where is the long term motivation in that??

Just tried the new patch and it feels like the game regressed a bit back towards the demo version.
Ball is a little harder to control, but player response overall has been increased, making the game feel more dynamic as a whole. While this may sound like a good thing on the surface, the fundamental issues with the game such as player selection has yet to be fixed. FUMA still gimps the user in that you can not execute some of the passes possible with PA1. With the ball speed sped up, some matches have turn into ping pong ball passing.

This new patch feels like the usual one step forward, 2 step back pattern typical of Konami. In my opinion, while some of the most glaring issues has been "patched up," the game has regressed as a whole in that we are back to the more arcade like gameplay compared to pre-patch.

A small detail, but I never thought KONAMI would care of it. Basically, goal nets are not that thick anymore as they were before the update (day/fine/rain). Generally nets look better now and I'm not sure whether only its texture has been corrected or they've done something else, but I like it a lot from now on :-)
definitely placebo, no update on data file :SHAKE:

Some vids, post patch, full manual, vs. Legend (painful, but in a good way.. I love it):

Ai goal - harassed by Abraham, clear on goal:

Ai goal - holding off, and shoot from edge

Ai goal - diving header goals

Manual Headers at goals/at goal:

and finally some goals by me:

Love the new patch..

So I've played about 10 matches on ML since the new patch came out and the only things that really seem to have changed are the ai shooting more from different areas and less one touch passing from them.

Compared to pre-patch, I've honestly had more low passes from the wing into the box since this patch came out than high crosses. The low passes are more varied than before, but I think pre-patch I was defending low passes into the box better, so they started doing high crosses more. Since the patch, I stopped defending the way I had pre-patch and low passing from the wing is now more common. It`s not really an issue for me though as the passes do make sense (if ai can make the pass and it's the best option, then they should do it).

My biggest problem with the new patch is the ai shooting though. Every ai shot is a power shot where they go for the top corners every time. Only exceptions are headers or one goal from Lukaku where he shot low from 6 yards out on the turn. Other than that one goal, the ai never hit shots with placement using the inside of the boot along the ground. It's always with the laces and the trailing leg coming off the ground as they attempt to hit each shot with as much power as they can. The majority of cases still sees them score if they are no more than about 15 yards out or if they do miss, it hits the post or crossbar. Stats are back to my keeper making about 1 save a match as ai shooting is so overpowered and when he does make a save, its never a low save as the ai never shoot below chest height!

Has anyone else noticed this?

Apart from many of the fixes already mentioned, a few things have really stuck out (fullmanual vs legend):

1. Definitely more heavy touches by ai and me when attacking (not necessarily bad touchea) which has the affect of 1. Slowing down game and ping pong affect if ai attack, and 2. making it easier for me to dispossess attacking ai. Very cool..particularly on legend, making goals n prior buildup more oganic n natural looking..

2. Slide tackling system is improved..ie. when u slide and take ball, you dont get penalised nearly as often as in pre-patch...so often u used to get penalised for a decent slide..im now getting away with these. Very rewarding.

3. Ai attacking wingers now actually spring ahead when they have space.. creates more organic wing play n build up..pre patch they werent nearly as direct or advantageous when in on space.

4. Noticed more physicality...more aggressive behavior from ai defense. .way more fouls. Love it.

5. More spin or odd backspin variations compared to pre-patch...just makes things better in my opinion..more variation.

6. More misses by legend ai shots..ie. more shots over bar. Good stuff..next konami needs to add more absolute skyward shots..ie. shots well over bar...n increase shooting sensitivity.

7. ai keeper seem more switched on n harder to beat vs. Free kick. Scored heaps prepatch where id expect keeper to make more of an effort. So ultimately seems free kicks are harder to score..mind u..jm at about 2 outta 10 shots so far..so not impossible. I could be outta form...lets just blame the improved keeper

8. Seen some new animations which are always welcome...some new keeper animations and some cool new player responses after a goal etc...ill try n make a clip.

Definitely impressed. Hope Konami continues to build on this ai stuff next patch/dlc (which im guessing is in December).

I've been noticing the AI defense got worse. Maybe. it's the same as pre-patched but just noticing it more now since majority of my goal yesterday felt unsatisfying in SS.
Here's an example of bad AI defense

And then I scored another header which I'm not even trying.
I'm actually using Man United and just switched to PSG when I noticed the tiny/unregistered player being subbed and wanted to check his stats. I didn't even noticed I'm controlling PSG when I resumed the game, so the corner kick and the header are just my instinctive button presses.
The header felt so scripted. The goalie didn't even react properly even though the shot was almost towards him. It felt like the momentum/scripting is on PSG's side.

Not complaining if this bad AI defense or scripted goals only happen occasionally... but more than half my goals yesterday are like these.
Maybe this is the reason I haven't played master league starting Pes2015. I just don't get satisfaction against the AI compared to Pes6(The last Master league I played).

Still enjoying the game though, maybe because I'm just using exhibition against AI just to practice ball control, team play, passing and shooting, and not really trying to win. Playing against my cousin is what I really look forward to, and it is the only time I have a motivation to win.

My first goal last night was a manual header, I felt like crying...;)

Anyway, loving the patch. Had some PA1 matches in divisions as well as manual and I gotta say the latter is wonderful. PA1 is fine but now that manual headers seem to be more consistent I can't see myself not just playing manual again, I get that endless possibilities- feeling (placebo, I know, but let me HAVE it!).

Might be luck but I got the feeling that button lag seemed to be less apparent as well, everything felt smoother.

I think button lag has improved - I've noticed now if you press pass the player will attempt to kick the ball even if it's intercepted so he kicks thin air..i like that ..not sure if it was there before , never noticed it.

Tried it as well. PC, exhibition games.

First impression is very positive. There are a few things I don't like, but let's start with good first:

+ AI so much more varied - different attacks, different outcomes
+ GK's are decent now: they move out of goal, cover angles, behave as they should
+ Physicallity is improved. Opposition bully my players at every opportunity in the area of the pitch that you assign them to using tactics. They are scary to approach with the ball
+ Fouls. So many of them. That's related to the point above, but also they are whistled correctly, without letting either AI or me escape with a murder
+ I think response is better and I felt some animations are more fluid

+/- It's harder. Losing on professional by 2-3 goals.

negatives:

- AI is more direct than pre-patch. Sometimes feels like PES2013 level of directness, and that's DIRECT. Would like to see it more patient sometimes
- I feel defensive positioning and awareness is somewhat worse. I don't trust my defence anymore, they are easily split by opposition through-balls and do not track runs so well. Need to re-learn defending to feel confident off the ball again.

Overall, despite these few negatives, happy with improvements. You would be surprised a patch can change the game so much.

I tried the new patch yesterday. Colour me surprised. It felt like an entirely different game! I think I saw about 12 animations I've never seen before! Mainly GK animations. Game feels so incredibly fluid now! The CPU finally misses shots!

Only think I'd like Konami to change now is the difficulty of free kicks. I scored 3 in one match yesterday, with a player with 80something Place Kicking.

I remember in PES6 when you scored a free kick it actually felt like an achievement.

But that's just nitpicking. I actually enjoy the game now and can't wait to get home to continue my Leeds ML!

I've seen quite some finesse shots taken by the CPU during my new ML campaign. Settings: PA1, Professional. Got slaughtered by the way during that first cup thingy and then the first two matches in the regular competition as well. Most goals conceded were powershots indeed, and high in the goal, but like I said, finesse shots are there as well. Was playing with a big smile on my face though.

It really can't help to think they made some fuckup somewhere in the AI code with the retail version which caused some loop and didn't trigger the full code or smth. Difference is night and day.

For me this patch has made the game even worse online

Fast paced ping pong and physicality is worse than ever. No such thing as shielding ball and i see no difference in trying to win headers when you are behind your man.

Response delay still causes most infuriating losses of possesion and the game still decides to pass where it wants no matter where the thumb stick is pointing.

Exactly like Pes 6 online ;) I know what i say because i played 1800 matches online with Pes 6 as well.

Pes 6 online was best man wins

This game still has momentum scripting, i played a guy with 34% win percentage compared to my 52% and he scored from kick off and then went on to win 6 nil, i hardly touched ball and had 1 shot to his 18. everytime i did get ball his pressure won it back in a split second, his players won EVERY single header or tussle on ball.

The online defenders will say i am crap but i know when someone beats me because they are superior.

Yes they fixed manual headers.. I am a full manual player, and often use the L2 aimer when heading, and Ive now scored 3 headers in total. None of those ballooned ones yet.. which is good..but I do think the ballooning should happen if you mistime the header. In regards to headers... and this time, not on goal, but whilst getting up during a goal kick, I find my player (particularly) a tall one, gets the head to the ball so much easier than pre-patch. Gives me more control which I love. In the past, id get frozen and not even go for a header (after pressing the square or x button) even if in front of a player. Great they fixed this. Just makes me feel more and more in control.

Only thing I haven't really tested is the r2 finesse shot via full manual shooting. This has been broken since 16 I think (sure it worked well in 15). You'd aim (even using the L2 aimer) at the corner of the goal, but the ball would often start so much wider than where you were aiming, and not even get close to bending back to where you wanted the ball. you'd practically have to aim at the keeper, straight at goal, to have it go into the left or right corner. Ill try in training....

But they didn’t on support one. I still can’t find how to probably head the ball, it goes wide a lot. I don’t play manual.

Do You play on PS4?

Cheers, love you guys :-*

Played a few games last night and a few this morning. The last one epitomised my experience - a Master League ICC game against Boca Juniors (on Professional).

They made 114 passes and missed 8 - their winning goal came from a passing move where every pass was first-time, perfect and there was nothing I could do but watch them score a tap-in goal (which was their second - the first being a high, powerful smash into the net, like 50% of the goals I've conceded).

In terms of what the patch set out to do - it's a big tick from me. Goalkeepers move, the AI's low crosses I've seen have made sense (and not felt forced), they shoot from range more often (again, without feeling forced).

But I'm feeling no difference between players - in possession (there's no beating a man with pace unless the attribute difference is an absolute chasm) - or out of possession (every player wants to pass, and every pass is perfect).

Playing as Newcastle, there are no stand-out attributes I can use to my advantage, and every team I've played just passes the ball around with ease (a couple have been more direct, and their passes are just as accurate, which begs the question - why bother with short passes).

My players also don't seem to understand the runs I want them to make a lot of the time, which spoils the flow and results in me coming up against a wall of retreated players - a few times I've been on the ball in midfield and had a CM to my left with tons of space in-front of him, and when I've tapped the through-ball button (aiming at the space), it's gone sideways (not forwards) - almost directly to him, but into the space on his left (not ahead of him).

I think the patch is genuinely great, but match-to-match I'm not feeling a big difference between games, and zero satisfaction when I score (I feel like shooting is nothing more than pressing the shoot button and the game deciding it for you - it's more like the game has "let you have one" as opposed to you nailing the aim, shot-type and amount of power).

That being said, something tells me to stick with it (because I'm struggling to win consistently - and a major factor in my love of the old PES games was how much you had to concentrate to keep a winning run going).
