Kezman making eyes at Liverpool
PSV Eindhoven striker Mateja Kezman claims that Liverpool are among the clubs queuing up to sign him.
Earlier this season, Birmingham and Fulham showed an interest in the forward, with Blues making PSV an offer for the Serbo-Montenegrin international but failing to reach an agreement with the Eindhoven outfit.
Kezman, who scored twice in PSV's 5-0 victory over Volendam at the weekend, has an ongoing contract with the club.
However, it is understood the Eredivisie side are willing to cooperate in a transfer, with Liverpool being the latest Premiership side to show an interest in signing the 25-year-old.
"Liverpool are back in the race, that's true. It is a marvellous club with a great history. It would be great to join that club," Kezman told De Telegraaf newspaper.
LIVERPOOL will sell Emile Heskey to Birmingham and use the money to lure Alan Smith to Anfield.
Kop boss Gerard Houllier is ready to tempt the young England striker to Merseyside despite already committing £14million to the purchase of Auxerre forward Djibril Cisse.
Heskey has long been surplus to requirements at Liverpool and his Anfield career will come to an end in the summer with a move to Birmingham looking increasingly likely.
Steve Bruce is willing to spend £5m on taking Heskey to the Midlands, and at that price Liverpool will happily do business.
The money will then be placed in a war chest to tempt Smith from relegated Leeds, if the price is right for the Merseyside club.
Anfield chief executive Rick Parry has already held an informalmeeting with Smith's agent.
The crucial factor though is the fee that Leeds will demand. Liverpool are totally committed to buying Cisse which means they do not have fortunes to spend on another striker.
Leeds are believed to want as little as £5m for their prize asset after relegation because they need to clear him off the wage bill. At that price, Liverpool will be ready to splash out.
