FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

This franchise is dead for people who want a simulation of the beautiful game.

you only have to look at the crazy amount of YouTube content which is all about pack openings.
look at the feedback on the beta forums which is all about ultimate team.

even the fifa producer zero, when asked why cms don’t track back, he states because if they did, there would be less goals.

fifa today is all about goals, skills and packs.

mom finished with this franchise.
Yep, basically this sums up the current football gaming landscape perfectly.

I played FIFA 21 again earlier as it’s on Game Pass. I applied sliders, even set my assists to semi for a challenge.

It’s dire. It doesn’t feel or look like a football match. The presentation is incredible, but by the time you actually get to the pitch - it’s simply dog shit.

And what’s with EA’s shit new ideas for Career Mode? I had to simulate a million training sessions just to get to my first fixture. The press conferences are ridiculous too - say what you think your players want to hear and their morale increases every time. And then when you play the match, it’s still too easy because my players all play like prime Messi, Maldini and Steven Gerrard because they all have a smiley face above their head.

You have a plethora of tactics to get lost in FIFA now but none of them make a difference when the game’s engine is so broken.

No amount of sliders are fixing FIFA 21, 22 etc until it leaves this ghastly Frostbite Engine.

Post a few videos in here mate, we won’t tell anyone.
I would like mate but it's against the rules of the beta.
I have made 4 games, and I'm in love of this game, really.
I have apply my FIFA 21 nextgen sliders with some changes and they worked beautifuly.
A bit too speed, and always lake of faults but I love this. The new ball physics looks like Pes' one, it a good sign!
No problem of marking too.
It's a solid base.
By default, it's really really bad, but with some sliders, it's reminds me FIFA 16 demo, version nextgen 😍
I'm a FUMA player and it's more difficult to master FIFA 22 than FIFA 21 nextgen.
Bad foot and with a defender, and you kill the mother of a Royal eagle behind the stadium!
GK are amazing really! Donarouma is a phenomem😎

EA has a bomb, the UT Community hated this beta, especially the slow animations.

Haha, sorry but that's funny. It's what you get after years of pandering to the lowest common denominator. They make a game hated by all communities. Everyone responsible for fifa after 17 should be fired and never be allowed to work on a sport game ever again. Guy who came up with 1v1s, timed finishing, 2nd press cooldown, etc, should be locked up.

Bring in Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka I say!

I understand that FIFA 22 isn't what we hoped one year ago, with that PES Unreal Engine trailer ...
But today, its either FIFA 22 with some sliders, f2p android game, or nothing.

Is this lad not just going to get banned or are streamers allowed to stream?
Supposedly they are not allowed to stream the beta and will get banned but for whatever reason this lad is getting away with it. He said that he's done things like this with previous fifa too but never got banned. His streams starting from 2 days ago are still there in his channel

Yeah; I got a beta code for Career Mode and it was quite explicit that you couldn't share anything from it.

I bet he'll be complaining if he does get banned!

I usually have a look in the previous game section (FIFA 21) when reading great/good/bad review of a new game (FIFA 22).

If someone describes FIFA 22 as great ,and also hailing FIFA 21 as a great/fantastic game I rarely take those guys/reviews seriously.

So far all I've seen is pretty much much miles away from what (I've suspected) I want.
Hype's dead for me.

I have now played a few more games on it now about 10 and trying really hard to find some enjoyment out the game but I am just not.

The AI on Legendary is incredibly predictable and tries the same attack every single time, it is just pass it to the striker straight away and then the striker will through ball it down the wing for it to sprint down the wing, before it cuts inside to do a pass back to the single for a simple tap in - This was infuriating at the beginning as was conceding lots of goals and I combated this to then just go gung ho myself which resulted in very high scoring games.
I then changed the tactics of how to play myself to try and stop the high scoring games, and mainly stop the scummy way the Legendary AI plays and scores, which is incredibly efficient but boring as fuck.
So I noticed that playing 4-3-3 attack, is suicide on the new game even playing with maximum depth the defence will still play on the half way line at all time when your attacking.
Full backs have to stay back when attacking, to stop the constant through balls and long through balls that are played.
But this then limits my attacking options, but after these changes I found that the game is then reduced to being tight games - It stops the AI from scoring, but then just makes me have 70%+ possession every game with the AI just sitting with 11 men behind the ball, with the defence blocking every single shot going.
Blocking has become so overpowered in this game that literally every shot is blocked by the AI/CPU and because this is all automated the game is just an absolute bore to play and feels that they have removed all skill in timing tackles and putting in blocks away from the player - It is just so automatic, every single aspect of the game.
Even L2 teams play with such precision that I played Exeter v Stevenage and both teams ended with 90%+ pass accuracy, even though L2 teams can't pass longer than 12 yards.
But anyway the games have now gone down to being 1-0/2-0 games, due to the tactical changes being made and me getting to the stage of blocking all AI attacks due to the severe predictability of the AI.

Other aspects of the game like shooting, has been slightly changed, when you now double press the shoot button to do a low shot the striker will now no longer do a low shot it will just scuff the shot - I am sure this can be changed in the million different settings now in the game to automate everything.

The keepers do the strangest things now and look completely broken and unnatural in both their movements and abilities.
They seem to do stuff which you only see down in Sunday League and TBH they are absolute dog shite this year.

I will write more when I have played it more often and try to make it sound like actual sense rather than a rant on my opinions.

Or if anyone has any genuine questions then let me know.

The funny thing is, the beta forums. On the FUT subforum, the vast majority of players say "speed it up, you're slowing it down every year, and remember it's a game - but good job on (removing) defending". On the career subforum (where there are FAR more posts, interestingly), the majority say the exact opposite.

They can't win. Unless they make two separate games. (Well, durrr, right?)

But they won't.

You have to come at this issue like you're not a gamer, you know nothing about games, you're just a businessman.

It's the most purchased game in the world, every year, with more revenue coming from microtransactions year after year. Even the people who hate it, buy it, because it's the only real choice (especially now that PES is dead).

What would be the point in creating a splinter studio, and investing in them, to create a whole new game that a more "serious" gamer (generally older, generally less willing to pay for microtransactions) would want, that will have very limited sales? You'd spend a million to make a million and be left with no profit.

Just as with PES, we have to wise up and realise it's dead for most people like you and I. It's not going to give us what we want.

We are in "build a hut in the woods and retire from this life, cos there ain't nothing left here for us any more" territory. Except we take a CRT TV and a PSX with us.

Just as, with PES, we have to (after 20 years) wise up and realise it's dead for most people like you and I, so is FIFA. It's not going to give us what we want.

It's so confusing ,this game isn't for anyone it seems.
But in the end it's definitely not for the likes of you and me.
Starting to feel like the "off grid living in a cabin deep inside in the Canadian wilderness guys" on tv.

This world isn't for us Chris.
(Funny thing there's a thriving SIM community for racing/basketball who get their boxes ticked).
We probably need to go full circle ,hopefully this gaming trend dies out and 'boring and no goals" gets trendy again

I just wish EA would dial back the deliberate arcade elements they insist on adding year after year. On another note I find it difficult to believe this "Hyper motion" tech isn't possible even on last gen consoles.

I don't know why but even this stream looks nothing like that little gameplay they show us in the trailers. Everyone who played the game on next-gen console have positive things to say that there is a lot of improvement over fifa 21.
Don't want to enter the circle of how to play the game but every video I saw there is only attacking, attacking and using fastest players in the game.
It's hard to judge the game like this. Again from what we saw on trailers, those long passes feom Kross, that ball trajectory is not present in any video I saw from the beta, probably all of them are on last gen. Will wait to judge the game until I play it for myself.

Note: Edited after the 2 last post following from @Mathgamer and @Chris Davies (if you didn't see it an want to gives an opinion, just a notification mates)

Well "over Fifa 21", even FIFA 18 or 19 have a lot of things better. And they were just average game, not even good. I checked and it seems i seeled all version / Only keept the 16 i retried last day way better sensations, but still too fast in ball circulation. Maybe i should try with sliders on career, even if don't feel the intertia, and some fundamentals impossible to change (ball physics on pass different form shots, players real weight/not motions slower i want to feel : but at least a way better footplanting)
Thanks god i really like PES 2021, even if there's issues, but not the one i see here mentionned, i make a spoil because i talk about both games and tactics, not really "comparing" directly but point out the differences.
: it's more database related, ML system, and sometimes the feeling that players runs everywhere without destination. Also, the way i play, i try to change : sometimes i try to manager counter attack, or tiki-taka, long balls etc. the way i defined the tactics. So it gives me much more variety in terms of gameplay, or should i say way to play. I didn't do it before, but if you don't take profit about the tactical things and plays the same when your team is designed to play to another playing style, of course you will feels that every games looks the same. AND even if the way you can settle your tactics and gives consign to each players, it's the same in Fifa. I don't see that there's more variety in Fifa on tactical terms : only a pretty different system.

Still like it more than than 2017 (less physics algorithm, less weight sensation when you turn, and even for the ball while you shoot and pass)
But i noticed here you're way more focused in AI positionning than 1vs1 or pressing with multiple players situtations : i carry about it, but a bit less than you. Only for Fifa as the way the game is designed with liberty of attack : you NEED to get players on the right place at the right time even more than any game.

I know it's normal to compare to the last version, but if the version was one of the worst... They're talking to a wall (i'm the wall) when they said "better in that area than FIFA 21/or 20"

Also, as i talked about tactics and were on Sofifa as i created player for our OF, for some tactics i noticed that practically all CMF/DMF got as instructions "cover the wings" and "overlap" for Side-backs. That's perhaps one reason, probably but imagine if you got to change EVERY team to "stay in the center"/knowing that in reality some teams cover the wings.
In fact, it should be a secondary tactical consign : every CMF / DMF may cover the wing if it's necessary, but they don't open the midfield game. But if you gives, or more, leave that consign, then... OPEN THE GATE!
Seriously, there's should be a different consign than those 2 (or 3 i didn't checked). I know players already got ATT/DEF contribution. But you may force them also to press or not, they will be more or less effective depending their attributes. Or stay at their place, don't press but help defense, or press directly... There's tons of tactical systems you may introduce. Simple system, and obvious.

and youth players who got "0" on the pre-game FM editor (of course i got a system to "intepret" Fifa stats, i don't take directly them copy paste, also the average is different. I use for example Reaction for speed stats as an exemple in my calculations. And i don't calculate the same for a LMF than for a CF about dribbling, speed, defense etc.)
Sorry for the OT 2 lol

The presentation is fantastic. I really love all the little touches and close ups. It adds so much immersion.

But gameplay, as it stands, looks really bad.. the skating seems to be worse than it ever was. Whole sequence from 02:40, when Man Utd (in grey) has a counter attack... my god, there really is no weight in players at all. There are moments where they are not even skating anymore, but hovering..

Even with all this - I could probably slow it all down and "add" a bit of weight with the sliders.

But there is no way in hell I can ever enjoy a football game where there is zero physicality. In all clips I have seen so far I havent seen one instance, where tackle got someone to the ground and foul was called.
Even in the worse leagues in the world you wont find a single match where players dont pressure, just stand around hoping to intercept the ball.
Even when my daughter plays in U7's I see more pressing than in here..
To claim that they are focusing on the realism and then implementing Covid19-Social_Distancing-Fifa22 is just insulting. Really is.

"Over FIFA 21/Improvement, better than Fifa in X area" i repeat from my last (edited with a light novel btw) post, are really convincing arguments 🎅

Unfortunately, we can edit IG players height and weight and gives them all +50% weight.
Well, you will got the impression to play a charity match with old glory who are now 170cm for 95kg, but well

It's beautiful, but still hard to reproduce natural lighting and shadows on skins not really recognised as , especially in a day match.
Looks weird, perhaps that's Frosbite, i don't know about other games using/if they use, that light feature : light directly on how should i say it with my english, "skin tissue". But well, for what i care, it just because we're talking graphics.
