EA SPORTS FC 26

im on 6min halves

another super positive finding

I switched it up to legendary difficulty with competitive mode on and AI never did any crazy skills moves etc , they actually play pretty realistic
another finding - increase pass error to 85 and for the first time ever AI on this difficulty had only 82 % pass accuracy , this was not possible in 25.
Thanks mate. I'll do the things you've suggested.. Camera you're using?

Oh very much the same as the beta, mate - an improvement in many ways but still frustrating moment-to-moment.

I tried my first in-person multiplayer game earlier, on Authentic, and God do the headers make me sad.

Literally. They make me so sad. Every header feels, and looks, so completely physically impossible that any immersion you managed to build up pops like a bubble.

The ball changes physics on a whim - with headers it's a balloon on a string that flies pixel-perfectly to target. When it's back on the ground it moves at a rate of knots.

The ball is never free - you never half-intercept a pass and create a free ball... It's physically impossible. You intercept it perfectly, or the target player receives it perfectly.

The physics, and the trajectory, all have "forced accuracy" to make the gameplay slicker, so there's no consistent "feel" where you know what button press length will result in what power... because it's all automatic (even on manual).

The ball is genuinely more on-rails than it is in most of the FIFA PS2 games. For as long as that's the case, I'm out. It's still enjoyable, but not as a football game - as something in-between.

They are going in the right direction, but they've only just turned the car around, and they're 100 miles from realistic yet (and I just don't know if they will have the remit to even go as far as modders will take this game, let alone go further).
That header Suarez scored for Liverpool on the edge of the 18 yard box can be scored by anyone in this game lol

I just want to see a corner where the ball flicks straight up in the air off someone's head and/or deflects around (NOT directly to feet), causing confusion and chaos in the box.

But instead you either see a perfect header from defender to teammate (even if they're 50 yards away), or a perfect header towards goal.

Openness of gameplay just doesn't exist, it's all so ... and I hate to use this word, because I don't mean forced scorelines, but individual outcomes ... scripted.

I desperately hope the "Authentic" devs have the freedom to delete all the rails and shortcuts next year.

EDIT: For those enjoying it, serious question (because I can't make my mind up about this) - do you think the primary reason Authentic Mode scorelines are lower (which is a good thing) is simply that the speed is significantly slower (meaning attackers just can't run away from defenders even in realistic scenarios)?

I was chelsea
AI = legendary + competitive difficulty

Gameplay type - authentic mode

this video shows high potential when we later have more slider testing etc

The pass speed is so hard to stomach (especially on Legendary, which makes it feel like a cheat). Yes there's a slider to slow it down, but the game is balanced for what we are given as default.

Wouldn't it be lovely if slower passes were hit on purpose, tactically, to allow a little bit of off-the-ball movement - instead of every pass being a bullet and defending teams just ebbing and flowing back and forth using the same crabwalking, at identical scurrying speeds?

There's so much depth in Career Mode and so little in gameplay (and yet, there used to be more). I'm trying so hard to keep playing and I'm just not being rewarded for my desperation.

...and I know it's petty, but little bugs like this (which are there every year) reeeeeeeally wind me up. It just says "we don't care about the details" and that's sort of the problem.

Can we turn off POV…I hate it.
Yes.

Settings > Visual > (scroll to Accessibility) > POV Camera Scenes.

Reading today the last pages of this thread, feels nice to watch and analyze lots of freshly posted FIFA 26 authentic gameplay footage (from my perspective was a decisive point, because I didn't purchased it to experience all the fuss). Regarding my particular tastes, I think all those aspects present in the footage is the reason why I gave up buying this game after FIFA 23: same graphics, slightly better presentation, awkward movement and turning, the defense is not acting to defend, easy long ball opportunity chances, too much back and forth, kits movement feels like it was soaked in the water all day, and so on... Just my opinion in the end, but I don't think this game is in a deserving spot for 70-100 quids (with that amount you can get a few and great new games). People demanding or expecting more of the same could eventually enjoy this, but for me the footage was enough to skip this for the third year in a row... I should wait until EAFC 27? The answer: LOL!

On the right track but still way off.

I’ve a played lot of career mode tonight and eventually you end up going through the motions. Every game feels the same (how are we at this point in 2025?). I want teams parking the bus, sending it long, passing it around (logically, not some poorly coded robotic version like we have seen over the years). I’m not saying there isn’t some variation but it’s not enough.

And don’t tell me it’s not possible because even iterations of PES in the late 10’s had it better than this. I remember I played ML games where I would have the AI pinned in their own box and still come out with a 0-0.

Aside from that though, the bigger gripe is that it still feels fast. It’s hard to explain, but the best way to attack is fluid one touch football. It’s so easy, even on legendary, to just to ping it around. You can play with the intention of doing something differently but ultimately the game just feels designed to play quick passes and bomb forward (and with competitive gameplay as a base it probably is).

Authentic football shouldn’t feel like this, it should be a battle. We should have to work our arses off. We should have to mix things up tactically. Spend an entire game defending against teams so we don’t get battered, or spend a game trying to get through a rock solid defence

Again, it can be possible and it can be fun because other games have done it previously, I just don’t know if EA FC will ever get there in its current form.

Coming across overly negative which I don’t intend on because it is good, and I’ll definitely dip in and out of it, but it’s just a shame that we are so far away at the same time.

Paid for a month of EA play to test it out. It's definitely better and I'm trying really hard to enjoy it because I'm so desperate to play a career or something but unfortunately I think it could be another year playing the odd game of efootball.

The changes to authentic have made a difference but the lightening turns, magnetic touches and totally unrealistic movements just continually undo the (plenty of) good stuff the game does. As always though these are such fundamentals and affect the way the whole game moves.

Maybe next year.

Played a 10min half match on Legendary difficulty after WC became too easy.
Not a SINGLE foul was called. Also I have no idea why the game sped up on that difficulty. Lightning quick turns, Messi like acceleration by EVERY player. On World Class, it was somewhat okay.
I'm convinced that authentic mode is just a set of sliders.
So yeah, authentic mode my ***

First PC impressions are positive. They improved the frame pacing compared to the last 2 games, and headers and crosses are finally fixed. The default authentic sliders are bizarrely slow, though. I don't get why anybody would want to play a game that's slower than actual real football.

No full support via BT?!
What could be the technical challenge behind that?!
I’m using a dualsense via BT since I’ve been playing on PC (4-5 years). I’m not gonna lay a usb cable from my play room to my living room tv-couch combi, where I enjoy my matches on a big screen.
Bluetooth doesn't support transmitting this kind of information. The console uses a proprietary protocol for its controllers.
