EA SPORTS FC 26

im on 6min halves

another super positive finding

I switched it up to legendary difficulty with competitive mode on and AI never did any crazy skills moves etc , they actually play pretty realistic
another finding - increase pass error to 85 and for the first time ever AI on this difficulty had only 82 % pass accuracy , this was not possible in 25.
Thanks mate. I'll do the things you've suggested.. Camera you're using?

Oh very much the same as the beta, mate - an improvement in many ways but still frustrating moment-to-moment.

I tried my first in-person multiplayer game earlier, on Authentic, and God do the headers make me sad.

Literally. They make me so sad. Every header feels, and looks, so completely physically impossible that any immersion you managed to build up pops like a bubble.

The ball changes physics on a whim - with headers it's a balloon on a string that flies pixel-perfectly to target. When it's back on the ground it moves at a rate of knots.

The ball is never free - you never half-intercept a pass and create a free ball... It's physically impossible. You intercept it perfectly, or the target player receives it perfectly.

The physics, and the trajectory, all have "forced accuracy" to make the gameplay slicker, so there's no consistent "feel" where you know what button press length will result in what power... because it's all automatic (even on manual).

The ball is genuinely more on-rails than it is in most of the FIFA PS2 games. For as long as that's the case, I'm out. It's still enjoyable, but not as a football game - as something in-between.

They are going in the right direction, but they've only just turned the car around, and they're 100 miles from realistic yet (and I just don't know if they will have the remit to even go as far as modders will take this game, let alone go further).
That header Suarez scored for Liverpool on the edge of the 18 yard box can be scored by anyone in this game lol

I just want to see a corner where the ball flicks straight up in the air off someone's head and/or deflects around (NOT directly to feet), causing confusion and chaos in the box.

But instead you either see a perfect header from defender to teammate (even if they're 50 yards away), or a perfect header towards goal.

Openness of gameplay just doesn't exist, it's all so ... and I hate to use this word, because I don't mean forced scorelines, but individual outcomes ... scripted.

I desperately hope the "Authentic" devs have the freedom to delete all the rails and shortcuts next year.

EDIT: For those enjoying it, serious question (because I can't make my mind up about this) - do you think the primary reason Authentic Mode scorelines are lower (which is a good thing) is simply that the speed is significantly slower (meaning attackers just can't run away from defenders even in realistic scenarios)?

I was chelsea
AI = legendary + competitive difficulty

Gameplay type - authentic mode

this video shows high potential when we later have more slider testing etc

The pass speed is so hard to stomach (especially on Legendary, which makes it feel like a cheat). Yes there's a slider to slow it down, but the game is balanced for what we are given as default.

Wouldn't it be lovely if slower passes were hit on purpose, tactically, to allow a little bit of off-the-ball movement - instead of every pass being a bullet and defending teams just ebbing and flowing back and forth using the same crabwalking, at identical scurrying speeds?

There's so much depth in Career Mode and so little in gameplay (and yet, there used to be more). I'm trying so hard to keep playing and I'm just not being rewarded for my desperation.

...and I know it's petty, but little bugs like this (which are there every year) reeeeeeeally wind me up. It just says "we don't care about the details" and that's sort of the problem.

Can we turn off POV…I hate it.

Reading today the last pages of this thread, feels nice to watch and analyze lots of freshly posted FIFA 26 authentic gameplay footage (from my perspective was a decisive point, because I didn't purchased it to experience all the fuss). Regarding my particular tastes, I think all those aspects present in the footage is the reason why I gave up buying this game after FIFA 23: same graphics, slightly better presentation, awkward movement and turning, the defense is not acting to defend, easy long ball opportunity chances, too much back and forth, kits movement feels like it was soaked in the water all day, and so on... Just my opinion in the end, but I don't think this game is in a deserving spot for 70-100 quids (with that amount you can get a few and great new games). People demanding or expecting more of the same could eventually enjoy this, but for me the footage was enough to skip this for the third year in a row... I should wait until EAFC 27? The answer: LOL!

On the right track but still way off.

I’ve a played lot of career mode tonight and eventually you end up going through the motions. Every game feels the same (how are we at this point in 2025?). I want teams parking the bus, sending it long, passing it around (logically, not some poorly coded robotic version like we have seen over the years). I’m not saying there isn’t some variation but it’s not enough.

And don’t tell me it’s not possible because even iterations of PES in the late 10’s had it better than this. I remember I played ML games where I would have the AI pinned in their own box and still come out with a 0-0.

Aside from that though, the bigger gripe is that it still feels fast. It’s hard to explain, but the best way to attack is fluid one touch football. It’s so easy, even on legendary, to just to ping it around. You can play with the intention of doing something differently but ultimately the game just feels designed to play quick passes and bomb forward (and with competitive gameplay as a base it probably is).

Authentic football shouldn’t feel like this, it should be a battle. We should have to work our arses off. We should have to mix things up tactically. Spend an entire game defending against teams so we don’t get battered, or spend a game trying to get through a rock solid defence

Again, it can be possible and it can be fun because other games have done it previously, I just don’t know if EA FC will ever get there in its current form.

Coming across overly negative which I don’t intend on because it is good, and I’ll definitely dip in and out of it, but it’s just a shame that we are so far away at the same time.

Paid for a month of EA play to test it out. It's definitely better and I'm trying really hard to enjoy it because I'm so desperate to play a career or something but unfortunately I think it could be another year playing the odd game of efootball.

The changes to authentic have made a difference but the lightening turns, magnetic touches and totally unrealistic movements just continually undo the (plenty of) good stuff the game does. As always though these are such fundamentals and affect the way the whole game moves.

Maybe next year.

Played a 10min half match on Legendary difficulty after WC became too easy.
Not a SINGLE foul was called. Also I have no idea why the game sped up on that difficulty. Lightning quick turns, Messi like acceleration by EVERY player. On World Class, it was somewhat okay.
I'm convinced that authentic mode is just a set of sliders.
So yeah, authentic mode my ***

First PC impressions are positive. They improved the frame pacing compared to the last 2 games, and headers and crosses are finally fixed. The default authentic sliders are bizarrely slow, though. I don't get why anybody would want to play a game that's slower than actual real football.

No full support via BT?!
What could be the technical challenge behind that?!
I’m using a dualsense via BT since I’ve been playing on PC (4-5 years). I’m not gonna lay a usb cable from my play room to my living room tv-couch combi, where I enjoy my matches on a big screen.
Bluetooth doesn't support transmitting this kind of information. The console uses a proprietary protocol for its controllers.

Some new videos on Xbox Series X with Authentic mode :

Chelsea Vs Liverpool FUMA Legend Authentic gameplay

St Etienne Vs Montpellier FUMA World Class Authentic gameplay

Real Madrid Vs FC Barcelona FUMA World Class Authentic gameplay

Portugal Vs Argentina FUMA Legend Authentic gameplay

Celtics Vs Rangers FUMA World Class Authentic gameplay

There is something wrong with custom sliders(when authentic mode is on), game is much faster then authentic mode even when i use the same sliders as ''authentic mode'' :CONF:

What camera is this mate?

EA cant be serious with the way the players move ...
Unfortunetly you are right. Played my first matches this night in early access. The magnetic balls on the feets of the AI is really over the top, even for a first release of the game. ANd the movement speed in authentic mode I played makes me fear to try the UT Gameplay mode. I also got this goal against me by the AI. I upload it without wanna tear EA in pieces but what the f... are doing Manuel Neuer there. I am tensed about Day 1 Patch next week, so I don´t take it so serious for an early access. or should I? I played FUMA on world class difficulty and authentic Gameplay mode. Match ends 2:1 for Leverkusen (AI). I tried the game with hands (penalty) on. Was a mistake. 2 hand foul penalties are given by the ref. I scored with Kane and Patrick Schick of Leverkusen missed the pen by shooting the ball in the crowd. wtf? A longer video I will upload later that day with more gp content.

Seems again modders will not retire this season. :-)
The base Game vision by EA is clearly more worse than last year. The Player movement is horrible fast by all sliders default.

I find that playing from Steam on TV with 30 fps helps with the animation not looking too cartoony and fast-paced on 60 or 120.

Not a great way to curb the problem in terms of the flow of animations but at least it helps for me.

Playing on everything ultra even then it doesn't look that good. Maybe need to up the resolution to 4K. With only playing on 30fps I think that won't be a problem for my rig hopefully.

Maybe 45 fps is the sweet spot? Put the fps on 90 then vsync of display to half framerate to get 45?

I'll try that after Friday prayer lol.

Thinking about it maybe want to try on 32:9 aspect ratio now that the game natively supports it.

I don't have that kind of monitor but I did play other games on that aspect ratio in VR.

It's the Panini Sticker Simulator aspect, it's really unfortunate that gambling is so addictive. We've been robbed of some wonderful experiences.
Gambling really destroyed both of these franchises. Ever since FUT and MyClub or whatever it's called became a thing, their focus slowly shifted towards milking idiots that waste half of their salary on these things because they have no self control.

And the fact that gambling is present in a kid's game [yes it's a kids game since it's rated E for everyone] is disgusting. The fact that ESRB and PEGI doesn't rate FIFA and PES as 18+/ AO game is disgusting too.

As much as I dislike what FUT is, think about Japanese gacha games, or Kinder eggs/Joy, or a Happy Meal in McDonald's. You don't know what you get in those either, it's a form of gamble. As long as EA make it clear the kind of card you get in the pack, and deliver that, there's nothing anyone can do

It is.

Because if you go to 'custom' the sliders are set exactly the same but then you can adjust them.

So, they haven't given us '2 unique game modes' they have basically fiddled with sliders, like most offline players have been doing for years, and marketed it as a new 'authentic' game mode.

The lack of fouls is down to how quick player movement is. When you can get the ball into someone's feet and magically move every part of that players body in 360 motion defying the laws of physics, fouls don't need to be a thing.

For context, after trying this and going back on PES17 straight after, I played a friendly game. Huracan v Veracruz. By Half-Time, they had 4 players booked. 2nd half, they steam straight into me again and get a 5th booking, so I'm like 'right, doing this are we' and start giving it back.

Game ended with me on 3 bookings and 1 red, AI 6 bookings and 1 red.

How such a big part of football is basically missing from a game is mind boggling.

I am still amazed how many are apparently missing the authentic toggle for AI behaviour. So again it is not just a slider set.

If you go to Custom immediately the next option on it is Authentic Features On or Off which influences AI behaviours like Center Midfielders tracking back.

It is a slider set plus different AI settings, really don't know how you can miss that one and claim it is only a slider set, when it is so visible as the second option below choosing sliders?

Watching some gameplay, it's quite easy to come to a conclusion.
Opting for FULL MANUAL is intended to provide more realism and variables. The team controlled by the PERSON is consistent. YES and YES.
But all the weirdness happens with the AI (CPU). The way it leads, controls, and executes each action the programming developed by EA is ABOMINABLE. Annoying.
This game would be interesting it would have a different perception if PEOPLE got together to play.
Unfortunately, due to the brave modern world, people are far apart, and the only contact is virtual.

Not to make this thread about another game but I played PES 6 for the first time a few weeks ago and passes not magnetising straight into the feet of the player was one of the first things I noticed lol, funny how I got excited over such a little thing

I was able to play my free trial for a couple of hours today and to be honest it's crazy that they call this gameplay "authentic" lol, everything is fast paced, passes feel like rockets, in some goals the ball goes so fast it feels like it'll cut through the net, career mode momentum/scripting is still a thing (at least in legendary) and by the way, it feels like the career mode gameplay is worse than kick-off... It's so crazy to me that depending on the offline game mode you choose, you get a entirely different experience. Played one kick-off match before quitting the game and even though it was still somewhat bad, it was better than any career mode match that i played. The first goal I've conceded in this game was because my defenders AI turned off, so they clearly haven't fixed this like they claimed. They're charging triple A price for something that is a small update from the last iteration like every year, I don't know what we expected. This game will only be playable if they actually do something in updates or when we get some gameplay mods. I will not be buying until then. The only good news: I play on PC and apparently they fixed like 90% of performance issues, stuttering was bad in FC25 even with great hardware. The gameplay performance was really smooth, I've only experienced stutters rarely in some cutscenes.

Edit: Forgot to mention that AI doesn't make any fouls. I turned the tackle aggression slider up to 75 and saw a total of 2 fouls in the whole 2 hours that I played. Terrible.

Edit 2: They haven't even added Gyokeres celebration, this man was Europe's top scorer last season, I might be naive but I wasn't expecting this level of laziness..

I don’t think mods will fix it either, they need a completely new engine and to get rid of Hypermotion

Do EA seriously not realise you will never please the streamers, so why skew the whole game in their favour?

If even they hate it, why not just focus on Authentic mode as the core game and give them something fresh at the very least?

Get the entire mechanics of the game catered towards them and still complain. It’s like they want players to have superhuman abilities, just play Rematch at that point

I reckon half the things these streamers do is on purpose. They know they probably get more views for doing something stupid or having a complete melt down.
