Something I’ve just realised. It’s now completely a dribbling game. That’s all. Yes the press has got better in this version, but the basic mechanics of running, turning and kicking a ball are so screwed up, it doesn’t matter.
They’ve ramped up the responsiveness so much that all I need to do is give the ball to one player and dribble. I slow down, I speed up, go left, go right, and I’m away.
And I can turn any player easily. I can be on the ball with West Ham’s centre back, Ogbanna, and when Vinicius Jr comes up to me, I can just turn him. And not by doing anything fancy.
Read that again. Ogbanna can turn Vinicius Jr inside out. Try it yourself. That’s how agile every single player is in this game.
Now, some people will say, well, just don’t dribble, try and play a passing game. But what kind of game would that be, where I can only play one way?
Some people say PES 2021 is too stiff. Well, this is what you get when you make everything ultra-responsive and “un-stiff” and unreal. And in that game, for all its faults, I have to choose when to dribble, when to pass.
I’m glad some people are enjoying this, but it isn’t football.
