EA SPORTS FC 24

Played one game enjoyed it , little things that annoyed me in last game was all goals were same, if ai had an open goal they would still put foot right through it rather than side foot in, looked unrealistic ,that seems to have been fixed, shooting looks more realistic

I have tried few more matches with @Matt10 sliders and they definetely improve things.

Its not a fix, but he always says that it comes down to what can you live with and what you are ready to sacrifice.
I argued with him few times that I just want Basics and Im not ready to sacrifice Basics of football.. cos.. they're basics ffs..

But like I said earlier - basics seem to be there at the moment. And his sliders are improving my biggest annoyance, which is flank runs. It gets tighter and I cant just run along the flank without being challenged. Which is good.

Overall - Its growing on me and I would even consider buying it if I knew that it will stay like this at least till Xmas. But I know they will speed it up, remove injuries, make stamina irrelevant and Skills easier and faster to perform.

So I'll say this to all EA people lurking in the shadows:
1. Please, for the love of God, allow us to pick version of the game to play offline in the future. Its a small thing. If I want to play Career Mode on version 1.0 - let me. Its offline. I dont mess things up for FUT players.
You need to understand that people dont trust you, as a company, to have the same product that they're buying one month after purchase. Which is borderline illegal. I dont buy a car just to have Gear box and brakes removed one month later..
2. Bring back match intros. It doesnt feel right not to have them.
3. Get rid of this female commentator! my God, she sounds like a scumbag picked up by coppers from the sidewalk near off licence..

@Emroth, don't forget - a 1v1 switch that allows us to enable the AI. That's the most important thing, IMO.

If it can't be enabled online so that it becomes an 11v11 game... then fine. Hard to take (cos I want to play online), but fine. But offline, it really has to go.

oh yeah jesus, thats a given.
This and the switch to split the gameplay into Arcade/Sim, like they used to have.
But this is all future stuff, FC2025 and beyond.

I was thinking mainly of this version.
If they could allow us to pick gameplay version after patches - they can patch whatever the fuck they want. they can even add jetpacks in FUT as far as im concerned..
As long as I can play my 1.0 version, or whichever suits people most.

@Emroth Another one - I'd love to play friends online, but without being able to use sliders (and disable 1v1)... I doubt it'll happen.

Being able to really customise gameplay with friends online is another must IMO. I'm sick of having to play offline simply because online (default) gameplay isn't made for me/us.

That's next week's FUT content spoiled - use spoiler tags next time!

this is one thing I cant understand how we dont have it at the moment.
If you create your own private room and invite your friends - you should be able to customise everything. its your own private room. its like having your mate over.
Its so surreal to me that this is not the case now, that I almost think its omission rather than deliberate mechanics.

I wish they'd return the FIFA 15 match scenario recognition. Losing 2-1 CPU should go all-out attack, not just stay in balanced the whole time. As much as I love Everton here at the end passing among their defenders, it's stoppage time and you're losing 1-0! hoof it up!

I also want to address the lighting. I thought there was supposed to be some improvement here. The dusk lighting is exactly the same as last year. Very bland and one-tone. Maybe just too spoiled with PC mods on PES, but still really wish there was more depth to the pitch etc.

See, I'm not always Mr. Positivity

I'm noticing that position matters especially with slow players as one they're beaten there is no chance of catching up which I like. I've seen the AI targeting weaker players.

I played as Arsenal vs Spurs, Maddison got a red card and Spurs instantly took off Richarlison and brought on a midfielder, I can't say I have seen that before

Thanks for the sliders @Matt10 games plays way better, when I’m getting owned by the opposition the only goals they seem to be scoring is by passing it in the box and hitting one in from 6-12 yards, defensive reactions don’t have a chance.

Do love the weight of the players and they all play different from a small technical player to a big centre forward or lumbering centre back, think they’ve done a good job so far.

Played some hours with ma 10h trial version. And I'm not sure what I can think about it.
Some good things and some not so good to very bad things.

Sure, we all just with our first hours with this game and maybe mods will come too and better sliders and so on. I had changed a bit the OS sliders. And I don't know if it was this or the fact that I made the three options (pressconference, training and opponent scouting) at prematch.

At the preseason tournament I had big fat looses. 5:1 against Gunners and 4:2 against Real Sociedad. But on the third match I won 6:3 against CFC with the new tactical mode. I was playing manager carreer mode with BVB.

Now I'm not sure if it was the scripted presaeson tournament, other gameplay settings and sliders or if I have to make every time befor a match these three options which I wrote befor. But my first 3 season matches at Bundesliga I have 9 points and 10:0 goals.

So everything needs a bit finetuning and micromanagement.

BUT EA, WHAT DA HELL WAS IN YOUR MIND TO REMOVE THE LIVE BROADCASTING LINEUPS AND SO ON. It is a real shame! Please bring them back! But not with EA FC 25.... :HAND::NONO::SHAKE::BRICK:

I've just played a couple of matches. I'm looking at this game as a base for how I could mod from here, so my comments need to be looked at in that context. There's really no point starting from 0 every time (1v1, skating etc).

It's definitely better than I was expecting it to be. There are some nice improvements from 23 in here.

My big focus is always on the off-ball defensive side of the game. I was especially curious to see how some of the pitch notes regarding higher pressing and passing lanes being blocked on the wing. They have improved in that area - which for me is a big plus as it gives me a better base to work with when it comes to gameplay modding! It's not the optimal level obviously, but the midfielders are coming across more from what I've seen now, instead of sitting rigid in their midfield 2 or 3 in the middle of the field while all the action happens out wide. Exactly the impact this makes (or doesn’t make) still remains to be seen as I have to spend more time with it. It's definitely not WORSE than 23 in this regard, so any small improvement is something I'll take as it gives something more to work with.

I've also found the pressing in general is better than before. It's more intense and there's a little more effort for other off ball players to push up and cut out some passing options. From what the pitch notes said, this will happen more with teams who have a certain tactic/depth. Again, it's not to the level I would like yet, and it needs to be tightened up in areas, but there have been base improvements which will give us more to work with when modding. These two improvements have made me have to pass the ball around more than before, trying to find gaps and think more which is what we all want here. It can certainly be improved on though.

I've also noticed certain areas where stats are making a bigger difference which I like. By default, turning times etc seem more pronounced than before. I played with a lower rated team and immediately noticed the big CB was much slower to turn etc. There will still be plenty of areas where this can be built on in mods, but to see a bigger difference by default is nice.

The CPU seem to be quite varied and overall smarter. I've seen less crazy dribbling and always running to the byline to cut back (although Man City do it a little too often for my liking). They also seem to be a little less in a hurry to get the ball straight down the field, so some more build up- still not to the level I would like, but better than it was. I've seen missed shots, missed passes and some nice little moments.

There are still definitely some areas of concern, and even some of these I've listed as positives are just initial impressions, we all need more time with it. As a base to work with though, it definitely seems to be better rather than worse. It's not a huge leap forward obviously, but our expectations have dropped now, so as I've said I look at this as a base to build from and in that regard there's more to work with than last year, so I'd say that's a positive.

It's the same old story, buggy releases, limited options, I mean ffs Hojland face, I swear they have used the chic from Abba's face. I imagine that they will be able to mod the eff out of it which is the saving grace for me.

I've played 3 games of the trial on PS5. It seems ok but compared to PES 2021 something is just missing. I've been playing iss /pes since the late 90s so maybe it's hardwired into me now and every time I try to play FIFA it just doesn't click with me. I really don't know what it is. I want to like it so much as its got so much going for it.

I'm going to complete the trial and if I don't like it I will just buy a new option file for pes. It offers so much it's just the on the pitch doesn't seem as engaging and it's fun to play for some reason.

For some reason, I have no commentary. PC.

Trust me, you don't want any.

Everyone at EA should be ashamed with the commentary. It's an absolute disgrace. It's like something from Actua Soccer 3 over 20 years ago. Then add in Sue Smith who played 15 games for the dog and duck. How the hell did we go from Martin Tyler and Andy Gray to this?!

I've played it and meh...it players better than Fifa 23 but the bar is so, so low. I feel there's too many people on here with such low standards now. We've been brainwashed into accepting mediocrity. And it'll all change in a week anyway. How is that allowed? Buy a product based on your trial and then totally change it afterwards.

Check the ingame audio options. The slider was at 0 for commentary when I launched the game. The commentary is the worse I've seen in a sports videogame. It's just laughable, I can't even describe how bad it is.
Speaking about the game, I've played a few matches and I can't believe what I'm seeing here. This must be the worse sports videogame ever created, only NBA Elite comes close to this. It's just shocking. Where to begin:
Legendary difficulty, with any single LB/RB from ANY team I cruise the whole pitch and into the opposition box. It doesn't matter if you mess with sliders, you can do it over and over again.
There's no midfield at all, it's non existent. You can end up with 50 shots per game.
Cpu for no reason makes suddenly these heavy touches to bring the ball forward, even when they're clear 1-on-1 against your GK.
I'm speechless. And yes I also tried Matt's sliders and I can still run through the whole pitch and score with a defender. On Legendary! It's a bit more difficult if I take a League Two team vs Man City but I did it twice already.

Got to play with my trial. I enjoyed my time with it but didn't get to play it much. I loved '22 more than '23. '23 ended up feeling sometimes "dull" this one seems a bit better in that functor aspect. I find it has small improvements from last year (could be just the new wow factor). Its what I expected it to be.

Saw some good AI plays, however I hope once the game releases I can get some sliders. games felt very end to end (could've been that adaptive difficulty too), I usually don't notice that but on one game it was mostly from side to side.
Don't know if heading is easier as well, I scored like 5 headers total in 2 years, here I was able to score at least once per game.

Still a positive impression, not an instant purchase but probably for Black Friday at $40 if Forza can hold me till then.

One extra note, you remember commentators for PS1 FIFA games, or PES 2012? these ones feel the same, very robotic one liners, disconnected from the action on the pitch. clear step backwards.
