Football games in 2023!
Watch Rashford at 5 minutes and then watch United's number 14 at 5 minutes 15 seconds and then throw this sh!t in the bin.

What level does this guy play on? Cos I literally have never seen more passive defending, the defence aren't interested in the ball at all, they stand still, literally. Not even if you set PES to the lowest difficulty level are they this passive.

Does sometimes some players also disapear for you guys. i played a match GS-FB i played as gs and scored a goal after that the rival team ( fenerbahce) player Dzeko gets invincible. Doe anyone have the similiar problem?

I've played 3 games of the trial on PS5. It seems ok but compared to PES 2021 something is just missing. I've been playing iss /pes since the late 90s so maybe it's hardwired into me now and every time I try to play FIFA it just doesn't click with me. I really don't know what it is. I want to like it so much as its got so much going for it.

I'm going to complete the trial and if I don't like it I will just buy a new option file for pes. It offers so much it's just the on the pitch doesn't seem as engaging and it's fun to play for some reason.
I bought a steam deck just for pes 21 modded , never looked back

Gave it more time, with @Matt10 sliders.

Something I’ve just realised. It’s now completely a dribbling game. That’s all. Yes the press has got better in this version, but the basic mechanics of running, turning and kicking a ball are so screwed up, it doesn’t matter.

They’ve ramped up the responsiveness so much that all I need to do is give the ball to one player and dribble. I slow down, I speed up, go left, go right, and I’m away.

And I can turn any player easily. I can be on the ball with West Ham’s centre back, Ogbanna, and when Vinicius Jr comes up to me, I can just turn him. And not by doing anything fancy. Read that again. Ogbanna can turn Vinicius Jr inside out. Try it yourself. That’s how agile every single player is in this game.

Now, some people will say, well, just don’t dribble, try and play a passing game. But what kind of game would that be, where I can only play one way?

Some people say PES 2021 is too stiff. Well, this is what you get when you make everything ultra-responsive and “un-stiff” and unreal. And in that game, for all its faults, I have to choose when to dribble, when to pass.

I’m glad some people are enjoying this, but it isn’t football.

I've played couple of online games with Argentina and i noticed that this is the most life like Messi ever. He looks like Messi , he moves like Messi and he plays like Messi. Player likeness is improved (especially top players) compared to older Fifa games.

Man I miss Clive Tedsley and John Motson. Commentaries on those ps1-ps2 era games were very nice despite being more primitive and limited.

I wanna fold whoever's in charge of the art direction into half just like their bugs ingame.

Like i said, look at where we are in 2023 with football games.

These are dark times, only getting darker sadly.

I played Fifa 17, few games on 1.0 version on my ps5 and omg... what have they done to this game? That game even 6 years old got so much right stuff on the pitch that my eyes stayed wide open through the whole time. If this game was released today with all up to date stuff will be best football by a mile!

More exciting goals, first game, first exploit.

Fairly certain that was in 23 as well, it's all anyone does in clubs at least. Everyone used a damn lengthy build and just hit and hope

Played 2 or 3 games of Clubs, just 3 of us getting a feel for the game:
The speed still seems mostly okay (for now)
Too many tackles still go back to attackers - no matter what the context of the tackle
Keepers are better, until they aren't
Early cross still seems to make defenders forget to defend, but that's also probably down to the 1v1 bullshit.

whats everyones thoughts on the 'beyond broadcast' setting. Just played my first career game at goodison and it was 'very' noisy. Im liking it so far but defending worries me.

I'll bet my life they haven't added the option to switch off pitch wear in career mode. Premier league pitches looking like Sunday league in April

This annoys me more than most things, as again EA created a kind of unique idea and again destroyed it. Pro Clubs was wonderful from between FIFA 09-16. I was in a club for years and we played everyday. We argued, we laughed, we cried, but it was at least fun. EA abandoned it, as again it made no $ and FUT does, so they ignored it.

They should have fleshed out the mode years ago and added cosmetic items that you can buy, in order to monetise it. They could have even monetised adding real pros to clubs as part of your starting 11, temporary boosts to attributes, as long as it was capped. I have no idea why they didn't do all this, as I guaranteed it would have them millions.

As one who enjoys FUT, I really dont like the women cards in the same team as the men. It just looks weird in game Wish they could separate them. Im all up for women teams but its weird seeing my defender battle it out against a woman and getting pushed around.

anyway, game is growing on me but then again i enjoyed previous ones. will mess with sliders as all my games have been high scoring (had a great half that was battled out 0-0 just to break apart in the second half for a 4-2 goal fest)

going to wait until release patch to see what they do to it as i got my heart broken with a fifa 22 update

It is a dribbling game, but I'll take that over the old dribble-dribble-pass game that it used to be. There's some variety there for sure where the CPU moves the ball with patience at times. I like the hesitation as well.

I'm trying to figure out how you guys who are using the sliders are able to dribble past everyone. The Sprint + accel values are designed to prevent that. As you can see several times I try to and I even try to turn the forward with my CB - no such luck. You're definitely better players than I am (and my testers apparently).

Ok, where to start with this? Firstly, I like the title better than 23 because that was the bottom of the footy barrel for me, I'd genuinely rather never pick up another football game again than play that for 10 minutes of my life. 24 is clearly better in terms of players positioning on the field but good grief, it's like only one or two players on your team make any supportive movement that reflects what is happening on the field at any one time. The ball just rolls past players who make no effort (even with pass intercept turned on) randomly to either intercept a pass or move to mark a player clearly about to receive the ball. The skating is still very evident as is the ball glued to the foot just like FIFA 95 when you turn with the ball. The ball goes from loose and free with an organic feel to not adhering to the laws of physics once a player has made contact. Bumped the first touch error up to 90, 95 and 100 to see if it affected the players control but Cambridge United have the ability to field Messi in any position once you're over the halfway line. Engagement drops as you get towards the last third and we're back to the defences who don't give AF.

I played a couple of games of 19 afterwards and there's just no way I can touch 24 again unless they remove the nanny hand-holding when you're in possession but your team are blind, lazy and deaf when your team doesn't have the ball. It's just the player you're controlling against the CPU basically, that's the best description. Other players are less than interested in the game until you switch to them. Everything 15-19 bought to the table, this game takes it away. The tackling is neutered so timing a tackle to get the ball and knocking the player out of the stands at the same time is a lame affair and mostly, any attempts at a physical game is a joke because the controls don't respond very well, especially direction wise on a slide and the momentum is random and doesn't take into account how fast you were travelling before you slide or often, what direction you were facing.

This game must be aimed at 10 year old girls because if you wanted to stereotype a 10 year old Barbie loving girl as what she would like if you made a footy game especially for her and her friends, this would be it. Women and men equal on the field (please! - I don't care how woke or progressive you are, this is BS, the best women players in the world can't compete with boys U15 teams and it's been shown in real life repeatedly so why have a game where the girls are as good, if not better than the men? You have to spend 10 minutes in settings to turn off the dozens of auto-assists throughout the game and even when turned off, they're only sometimes turned off, auto actions still occur randomly.

I don't care how many patches they release, this game isn't going to touch 15-19. You either keep an older game from that date range or before to play when you want to feel like you're playing the real game and you play this when you want bells, whistles, balloons and sideshow clowns. The best example I can give after all of this is for those of you who play first person shooters, FIFA 15-19 and prior were like Black Ops 1-3, original Modern Warfares, etc. FIFA 23-24 onwards is basically the equivalent of Fortnite.

So spent 78p on the trial. My god this is really bad, no sliders will save this im afraid. The sliding and foot planting is poor, the player selection is all over the place but the worse thing by a country mile is the defending. My defenders literally just stand still when there's an attacker running in the box and the AI defense is worse.

Video below is from world class level - skip to 1:12 when VVD picks up the ball and literally walks from my box to the oppositions. - its beyond terrible. Thank god for football life 24 coming out at the end of the month

This is a dribbling game, alright. See the clip below...

Occasionally I do wonder if I'm just stuck in the past, but thank God others out there have the same issues.

But the saddest thing is, they will just never be fixed.

As the tweet says... "Care for offline players is zero". But how this is okay in the opinion of online players, I don't know. SURELY it should be better for the benefit of both?!

Had a go with the E.A play trial. How does anybody play this for extended periods of time? I had to stop playing after an hour because my arm & wrist were aching! It's like a twitch shooter with the speed of everything. You can't just chill & play this game, even offline. Horrible experience as per usual.

It's like street fighter. That's what esports becomes, mashing button combos. Same things work every time.
