EA SPORTS FC 24

Tried the trial (after the beta). Man alive. Based on gameplay alone, you would swear this was the free game (made by a team of approximately three people) and eFootball was the retail option - seriously. Just running/skating box-to-box, taking it in turns to score.

So fake that it's genuinely distressing, and the "pass error" slider doesn't introduce error even on 100 (it's blatantly hardcoded to prevent all error, loose balls etc.) - with other sliders similarly broken - so you can't even begin to pretend it can be made into a football game. I just cannot believe how they've butchered this game.

UT was fun till 2014. Its very old and stale even Fifa Youtubers dont bother with the game much anymore unlike fifa youtubers of the heyday...

This game is utter garbage out of the box. Players have literally zero weight, movement is lightning fast, ball travels too fast. I really don't understand why they bother with hypermotion because nothing in this game moves realisticly. So what's the point ? I've been buying this game since Fifa 09 but this is the first time i'll probably skip.

Now it hasnt got fifa on the box the series has no pulling power no more for me no nostalgia either. Plus the game has been in steady decline since 17 certainly from 20/21

Can I pre load it for tomorrow if I'm on gsmepass ultimate which includes ea play but not have it pre ordered. I don't see the option 😕
On PC, normal EA Play is enough for the 10 hour trial. I was able to preload it, but I bought EA Play directly in the EA App and not via Xbox Game Pass.

Will crossplay be available 100% between PC and console this time?
Yes, all modes should support it now. The FUT transfer market is still separate on PC.

I have made about 10 matchs with my sliders, not in vanilla.
When i start playing first, the game feels slow.
With a United Vs City, on FIFA 23 the speed was Always to high.

My sliders worked better with the retail game.
So it's my first match on EAFC 24, FUMA and champion

While it still has a lot of Fifa-isms, I can see improvements and more player individuality, of course as with every Fifa, I fully expect the day 1 patch to start the train of dismantling the game

From the videos above it looks awful. It is actually soul destroying to see how far football games have digressed.

The commentary is completely wank as well, it's like EA have been as cheap as possible all over (surprised? No), yet continue to make it all about casino mode.

How real footballers can't get together and actually state this is complete wank I really don't know.

I’m enjoying it tbh, maybe I’ve just accepted that we aren’t going to get the football sim we all want and just try and make the most out what it is.

Career mode improvements are decent while not spectacular.

Still the usual frustrating stuff in there, and the ice skating is hilarious. Sliders will improve the game a little so that’s something that will help.

Ultimately it’ll come down to whether I can justify spending the £50 on it which, with clubs as well, probably means it will be.

Something that cracked me up is that there finally seems like a decent level of fouls in the game (I see decent but still not a enough), and they’ve included the most horrific looking first person camera for bookings - it’s unwatchable.

just played Pes 2018!! yesterday and saw the "Realism" Videos from "KnightMD"

and even this looks way more realistic than EA FC 24.

really dont know what people are working on FC24 but i am sure they never saw a single real match.

EA never managed to catch up with Fox Engine in terms of realistic lighting. All these next gen FIFA games still look uglier than even the first FoxEngine PES game [PES 14] which was playable on Dx9 GPUs and consoles from 2005.

EA also never bothered adding high LOD support from gameplay camera. Even on PES 14, the players have full cloth physics, dynamic cloth wrinkle simulation whereas the LODs are still not high enough on current ps5 fifa games.

Too bad Konami ditched FoxEngine for Unreal engine and the LODs suck on eFootball too now.

And the body proportions on FIFA games still look like ass. This can't be engine related. Whoever is in charge of art direction in FIFA games have never seen a human body it seems.

so hoping it is going to be good, but realistically I know it wont be. Will have to buy the option file for pes 2021-yet again. I just wanted something fresh I guess but this might not be it. Will play when I get home.

Are you using your latest sliders from 23 on fc24 ?

I just can't believe state of current football games these days. It's so disappointing.

What's even more sad is the masses continue to blindly gobble this drivel up every year.

The commentary is like something from a game in 1999

Its mad, coz I absolutely love the idea of FUT.

Unfortunately when all this started I had a break from gaming, so I missed all the good beginnings of FUT and Master League Online..

First couple of years of FUT it was great, no buying coins, you actually had "sticker albums" to put all the players/badges in you collect which was really fun to complete, then greed took over and here we are, 100s of thousands of new gambling addicted children every year created by a morally bankrupt company counting the billions in revenues they make from addiction.

I don't think even you, the great magician, can fix this, @saturator

Your work has been amazing, but the way the passes just ping from player to player, the way they instantly control the ball, the way they change direction quicker than the speed of light, and more, in my opinion it's just gone way beyond sliders now.

I will download the trial and try your sliders, but I'm not hopeful. Thanks for all your work.

I played 2 games this morning. (vanilla, i havent modded anything, yet)

Match 1:
Swansea v Sheffield Wednesday
Lost 4 - 0
Difficulty: Legendary

Notes:
Pros:
- I could tell both teams are poor
- I couldnt create anything with such a poor team
- The formation and tactics were a massive hinderance, changing tactics helps but was too late
- The game in general was slow, in movement, passing, build up, both teams looked pathetic
- Nice to see the AI play some long passes out of defence
- AI fouled a few times, resulting in some tasty yellow cards
Cons:
- The game suffered with its usual problems when set at a higher difficulty
- The AI will ALWAYS score when this difficulty is selected, no matter the player's ability
- The AI will ALWAYS try the "killer pass" into the box to score, its boring and should be removed
- Not enough crosses
- Referee incorrectly called a penalty against me when I took the ball first ( this is up for debate )

Match 2:
Arsenal v PSV
Won 3 - 1
Difficulty: World Class

Notes:
Pros:
- I could tell both teams were much better than the previous match
- I had much more freedom of passing and movement, with top players like Odegaard and Saka standing out
- The AI had a red card
Cons:
- The AI will ALWAYS try the "killer pass" into the box to score, its boring and should be removed
- Not enough crosses

Summary
In my opinion, this game is not as bad as people are making out. It plays a game of football fairly well at an average level. It is nice to see attributes matter in a vanilla game after so many years. There are many options in the settings that must be changed before you start playing. I selected the competitive set but with "advanced defending", this felt much more natural. That combined with semi assisted controls for through passes and I felt more in control of the game. Yes, there is a "skating" issue but show me a game where there isn't. This is a step (not huge) improvement on FIFA 23, I just hope they don't ruin it with patches for those on consoles.

One thing that keeps bothering me is the upper body animations, the arms are very strange, almost like the weird animations PES had with the different arm movements.

in terms of gameplay I do prefer it over FIFA 23 for sure, but I have this huge feeling of disappointment overall. I guess if you have low expectations coming in it helps, but I got caught up in the early marketing beats ☹️

Somehow I don't think you have to worry about that tomorrow ;)

Well there's some realism in it then, certainly for us!
You haven't seen how bad Swansea are?? :D :D

But I agree with you. In terms of this game, you could tell Legendary was over powering the AI too much and World Class would have been more balanced.

Because the majority of real footballers are uneducated individuals spoilt by the excessive amount of salaries they receive. There are only a few out there (Vardy for example) who are genuine individuals. Check Vardy's interview on Sky Sports a couple of days ago.
