EA SPORTS FC 24

Im not sure its generation issue we are observing here. I used to think it was, but Im not so sure anymore..

EA created this colourful Casino. You have Mbappes and Haalands and Ronaldos popping everywhere, in every cutscene, every background picture.

Naturally young people going to want this. They want whats on the cover. They are conditioned to crave these players.

The whole FUT machine is just a sticker album to collect. And young people want to show others that they collected more stickers than them.

I truly believe that if FUT was designed and promoted as football journey with unique players, where everyone can create their own identity - young people would enjoy it.

But they are just responding and acting accordingly to what they are seeing - Football Las Vegas.
Good analogy, Football Las Vegas.

I agree. FUT at the beginning was fantastic. As you felt the sense of achievement and satisfaction when you took your starting all bronze squad of players and had to grind out results in-order to upgrade your squad to silver players, one by one, and then gold. Great idea, great execution. In fact FUT is literally the only revolutionary original idea FIFA has ever had. Everything else, including the gameplay, buttons etc was blatantly stolen from PES.

So FUT was good, but then GREED took over and EA realised, OK let's dilute the trading market and instead of players making profits via the market and selling coins, we are taking everything for ourselves and we're gonna systematically take BILLIONS. We'll introduce boosted player cards and 1000 themed cards to dilute the market even more and entice little kids to spend more and more.

The original FUT was perfect. As everyone started with bronze players and you could even play in bronze tournaments, but FIFA stopped that too, guess why? Correct. GREED. Cos they will not make any money from you if you just play with the lesser quality players, and they can't have you doing that. They don't want you to have fun, they want your money and they'll do whatever it takes to get it.

100% I bought FUT09, when was a pay "dlc" in those times. Great idea for Madden (MUT) and FIFA.

Same gameplay producer across all the modes, David Rutter. He was the last guy with intention to make a good football (fifa) game.

In fact, when David left from FIFA franchise (2019) the disasters start.

Its mad, coz I absolutely love the idea of FUT.

Unfortunately when all this started I had a break from gaming, so I missed all the good beginnings of FUT and Master League Online..

But only imagine if EA went the other way. If they continued to build this awesome online experience where you take your team for a journey from shitty little club to famous football club. Where you could grow your team, build bigger stadiums, expand on your youth and training academies...

They could attract so many more people this way. If the mode had depth, immersion and soul.

And they could still sell cosmetics for it. They could still sell unique boots and balls and kits and stadium blocks. They could still make shit ton of money, coz people would be buying all the cosmetics to show off online.

It could have been such an epic mode...
Instead we have soulless casino...
Its so sad.

I remember playing the Bronze Cup matches with my all-bronze starter team in the first year FUT started, and I really enjoyed it - like a Master League online, almost (working with terrible players and only getting better by grinding over weeks and months).

Which is why, when people tell me sliders are the fix offline players like me need, I just feel overwhelmingly sad - because I'd rather play online, but I just can't bear what they've done to it.

I don't get why, in 2023, we don't have a footy game that has an online career mode.

Not to play against other people but say yourself and 3 mates could pick a team, all control players, and do a career mode together. You could argue over transfers, tactics, who gave away that penalty to cost you promotion, it would be a right laugh and negate a bit away from the flaws in the game.

Yessss, this is what I've wanted for years. Guess you can do this with Parsec, right? I've played PS1 and PS2 PES games online and done like an online co-op Master League.

I've done this for the past 25 years in various ways on various games. These days due to circumstances (we are all old farts with kids) it is all done over Parsec. PC's do have their uses.

No way of doing the new Zealand thing with pc then? I've only got an xbox series s and the game looks mega shit on this

Look, I'm sad the intros have gone too, but.

Streamers are seriously THIS upset/angry about the pre-match intros being gone...

...but couldn't give a toss about the state of the gameplay (i.e. objectively one million miles away from football)?

The game would be better overnight if they gave this much of a toss about gameplay (not views).

In other news.

Do you remember EA promising sponsors for your custom team kits in Career Mode?...

I played a little bit on my XBOX. The first couple of games feel better than the previous one, but after some time game became repetitive and it is similar to an old game. With some stuff updated.

It has some positive things but overall gameplay is bad. Players movement without physics and inertia is so annoying.

I did feel more randomness in ball behaviour on the pith but still not enough.

Presentation is really on next level. Its great. No doubt about that.

Intros was something I enjoyed the most playing FIFA and this was one of just a few things that EA did perfectly.. I can’t believe what a piece of garbage this is and I can see now how offline mod is put off and something EA don’t give a shit about anymore.

I don’t fucking understand this. Maybe they will bring it back in day one update?

Maybe intros consume too much GPU and consoles can’thandle it?

Instead we have this funny, crappy, cartoon style cut scenes animations of fans dancing one the street to fill in the gap.

The other side and explanation is that they know that 99,99 of FUT dumb heads skip all the replays and intros so they decided to remove it.. I even played FIFA with some real world colleagues who always raped fucking START button as soon as game loads to start playing asap and don’t care about line ups, intros, introduction. Same with replays - they just don’t give a shit and once replays starts, they want to skip as quick as possible.

Nowadays people don’t have time for such things. Kids don’t want the whole matches, prefer quick highlights.. don’t watch movies - they prefer TikToks. So even in games, they can’t be bother to watch intros, replays, highlights - it’s all about to do the rabona and flips with Mpabbe pressing 50 buttons at once and spend dad’s money to buy cards..

The world of footy games is mad, is gone.

How would this work playing a career mode with friends? Have you done it ?
Been spoken about multiple times, let's not clog the thread with this please.

One of you buys the game (on PC), you can then stream the game through Parsec to friends (also on PC, but any crappy old computer will do). They just need to download Parsec too, hook up a controller and they join you as if they're in the same room as player 2. However, you both need decent internet connections. It's completely free, and it's brilliant. For more, see the website.

Don't want to spam the thread with same stuff and I really respect if someone enjoy the game. Watching videos on youtube and guys around 30 years old opening packs and having orgasm really make my head ache. I will understand being aroused by some really good action from the back and have a rewarding finish but this.... cmon...

You just know pre-match cut scenes are coming back in four years or so as a new feature called Dynamic immersion™ or some shit.
18+ years ago, PES had an "entrance scenes" switch. Including the seemingly revolutionary "only for important matches" option.

Yet here we are with intros (and years' worth of AI development) being forcibly removed. Progress.

Couldn't just be a coincidence with eFootball removing their intros too though...?

Is there some kind of focus testing where they decided most players just skip them anyway?

Less time spent watching cinematics means more time playing the game, finishing matches and spending money 2 minutes faster?

I can't imagine it has anything to do with performance issues as the games are 90% the same as their previous versions.

Still though, the fact they remove them entirely rather than just give the player the personal choice of just turning them on/off or skipping them is infuriating. I'm tired of these companies patching/locking out random content inexplicably.
