The Retro-PES Corner

I managed to fix the main crash that was occurring when going into player settings in the pause menu. Now I'm just trying to fix a bug with 3 teams who have minikits affected and the Besiktas home and away kit which is using an incorrect model causing the kits to look stretched. Once these bugs have been resolved I will be able to release the new version.

I found that they "overrated" the players from the J-League.

You can find a Team from the J-League better than a mid table team in Serie A / Liga.

I mean wtf !
I would have to check, but if i remember correctly almost every Japanese team has a lower diagram than the midtable/lower teams from Europe.

To add to that, i have been searching for a Centerback which has +- 75 defence, there arent plenty to choose, especially them not being from the top top top j.league 1 teams.

When I started playing PES4, I started to think I was being unfair to the game. Everyone plays like they've been drinking Red Bull, the shots are a bit awkward, and the ball bounces a lot. But that's what makes the game so unpredictable and so much fun. It's strangely addictive.

It was actually my first PES that i started replaying recently. Its felt like a massive step up in physics compared to PES 3, even though it can sometimes feel like a game of ping pong, its a fun title.

But after playing 30 hours i started to see the exploits, the game is more attack oriented compared to a more balanced PES 3.
You could play 2 strikers up front and spam 1-2's.

Still, i feel like its underrated, i had more fun with it than with the PES 6 for example.

Yes, I admit it has its flaws, as with almost every series. But there's absolutely no robotization. This game is unpredictable. Even the 2008 series, considered to have the best AI, becomes robotic after a while. Limitations of the PES 3, WE7, and WE7I series, such as not being able to score from long range, can also be a drag on the fun.

from here on comes WE2008... and the ps3 era. Sorry for the triple post, it was the best way to present the images, I will make a topic for you later where all the editions of the saga that I uploaded in previous months will be.

see for yourselves and compare the fluidity and the differences that these asian versions can have with the ps2 european versions of pro evolution soccer that we all know, in my opinion these games are faster and you must be faster to think about giving the passes It's still more entertaining even if it's more arcade.

@morodolarama1 please,

Can you fix the problem with the ISO?

The game freezes permanently after loading if you stay in the menu for too long without pressing any buttons. It freezes when loading a visual demo, so it's imperative to restart the console.

Can you fix this?

After starting Master League on Superstar in J.League Winning Eleven 2008, after 18 fixtures im on the course to become the manager of the worst team in the Premier League history. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/worst-premier-league-teams-ever-points-total

I even set up ML difficulty to very hard, but i"m starting to think that it might be an overkill.

i have never ever struggled that much with the defaults in the Master League lol.
Are you playing J.League Winning Eleven 2008 CC?

It is interesting that master league is that hard? You are new to pes/we series? Or AI is that strong in that version you have?

Yes, its the CC on superstar. I have been playing PES since 2015, earlier i was a FIFA kid.
I always was pretty decent at footy games, my managerial career in PES was most of the time alright haha

I replayed PES 5 2-3 years ago and managed to win the league and CL with middlesbrough after 3 seasons.
Earlier this year i started to dip my toes in other older PES games, managed to win the league and CL within 4 seasons with defaults on superstar in WE8,
but it was quite hard, so i would say that im at least alright lol

There is something about Winning Eleven 2008, especially when you start with the defaults, they stand out more with their awful stats (Especially the defense)
in comparison to other PL teams. it is really a challenge, especially with a really good attacking AI.
Thankfully the CC version fixed one issue that i had with 2008 AI, the constant dribbling, they dont dribble that much in CC.

I gave up that ML with the defaults for now and started a new ML that fully embraces the J.LEAGUE version.
the Roasso Kumamoto are my new team, it seems like they are one of the worst in the J.LEAGUE 2.

As you can see my league posistion after 9 games is more solid than the earlier ML, but still its a challenge.

It might seem like i sugarcoat this game too much, dont get me wrong, other PES titles are also top top games, but the way this game recreates the match flow is just right for me.

I played J.League 2008 CC but it is too easy for me, and when there is no challange I just lost interes. Where did you download your version?

You can try this version also. J.League 2009 CC, amazing graphic and gameplay.

Maybe you are just way better than me :)

By the way, which PES do you find the most challenging?

PES 3, PES 2008 (PS2) and maybe Winning Eleven 6FE and Winning Eleven 8LE are the ones that put up a challenge I think

6FE is weird in that aspect, one game you van win 3-0 with ease, while the match other is a tough 0-0.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I had originally added a widescreen patch with the correct render fix but when someone requested a version of the game for original PS2 hardware I must have mistakenly swapped the widescreen patch for the new zoomed out camera with the standard widescreen patch. Thanks for providing a solution.

Get ready in the next week I will be uploading a version 2.0 of that patch that will be a major upgrade!
Hey man, love your work. Thx for all the patches.

Do you know when this new version od J.League 2008 CC is coming? 🙂🙂🙂

PES 5 has such nice close control dribbling animations (the strafe movement as the ball is rolling which isn’t in PES 6) and ball physics for ground and dinked passes, compared to PES 6 which does feel more of a reversion. You also notice a strong foot plant when the player takes a first touch. PES 4 actually feels very fluid which in hindsight makes it feel the most PS3-like, almost as if there’s 360 turning, but is slightly too fast and the shooting is awkward. 5>4>6
