The Retro-PES Corner

I just tested the game and have no crashes. Started a new ML campaign first in the Northern League. Game loaded fine, cutscene showed fine, fixtures loaded, match loaded and played to the final whistle, negotiations loaded fine and the next match too. Tried the same with the Southern League and all fine there too.

Please ensure you downloaded the ISO again as I had updated it a few weeks ago to fix any crashes in Cup, League and Master League mode. Also this needs to be played on an emulator not real hardware as I have changed the LOD levels which may crash the game on actual PS2 hardware. If I get time I will release a version that is compatible with official PS2 hardware.
Weird, I'm sure I have the latest iso because I downloaded it last night. I redownloaded it from https://www.mediafire.com/file/qw71cbrclfukbh2/Winning_Eleven_7_International.7z/file to make sure I got the right one, hashed both files and got the same hashes. I played on PCSX2 too

That's really cool, I loved those REal Madrid fonts and no patch seems to be able to reflect this correctly, how did you do this, Does those fonts replace a font in the editor or something?
the real madrid letter and number fonts were already in the reefur patch. I was able to fix the arsenal and chelsea kits so they compare to the original patch. This WE8 is the first game in the saga in which each team has its own custom font. It is a hybrid between WE8 and WE9, it has things from both, like this characteristic or faces of some players, for example, Samuel Etoo, Fernando Torres, they do not have a face in PES4/WE8, but they do have faces from WE8LE onwards.

Oh God! Guess who'll spend his time without sleeping after pulling an all-nighter, tonight?
Thank you so much, it looks so well made. I also have an idea of implementing the option file to the ISO, but I still don't get how to get them. Probably the puzzling hex-edit and cheat engine will help me again this time.
It would be nice if you could help me enter the option files to the game database I managed to do that in WE8 (player appearances and faces) but I always depend on the OF loaded to the memory card for certain specific things like the teams squads numbers and the team captains, the same for WE7 International and possibly with WE9 when I launch it later

(2004) Winning Eleven 8 (Original game translated english) [2003-2004]
Clean game with fernando's translation and default 2003-04 squads

Optional: option file with corrected numbers, faces and team squads, kickers and captains

Amazing, Thank you.

Question:
Not remember but the WE8LE haved the PARA_WE convert? to conver Option File to Bin File?

Remember friend marqisspes6 haved some tool but not remember its convert Option File to Bin Files from we8le.

i am re-search that tool... sure de kmochida work that tool

Thanks for ROM and hack :APPLAUD:

No idea how to import face on PS2 without special stuffs like faceservers / i don't know there's a name like that, but way too much time taking, i'm good with my corrected facebuilds for PS2 versions. I wanted to import some missing PES 6 or 2008 faces, as to me it's more fitting than super HQ faces.
For Messi, Ribery, Toni, Ibrahimovic, David Villa at least.

My guess is that you're only importing the image only and with ggs, if you're using ggs, first export the bin file not just the image and then import the bin file, you got that error because the image will try to fit on the face model for the previous player so the uv map won't be thr same and will create that distorted face, i hope this was helpful

Also, another tip, faces and hairs on ps2 from pes4 to pes10 i guess? Are always compatible with each other for the ones from pes 11-14 you'll need to use a tool to reduce the texture size, i have already shared that tool on another thread

Thanks i will try it mate, if i understood well of course very very useful. It shouldn't be complicated. So just make a simple "switch" by renamming the .bin?

But i got another issue for PES 2008 and JL2008.

Was converting players (All available on PES 2009 and JL2008 shop + NT) from PES UTD to Bayern. I tried tons of calculation with PES 7.0 2014 editor showing the Hair location, and i've made calculation to try to fit for JL2008 or around.
Will do Werder after.

If there were maps for faces and hair perhaps in japanese i don't know as it's a jap game. But even for PES 2008 it would be great.

I saw more or less the limits of calculation from Western players... So the only idea which came to my mind is change every players hair > assigning preset from 950+- to 1600 for every players and made base copy. Before there was a certain order following the player hairstyle. But after, they kept some old hairstyles hidden so it messed up a bit the order if you get it.

IF There's a trick like a signature unchanged since PES 5, then it should be easier with GGS to found it. Because checking textures, hair especially for GGS isn't really easy 😅 a flat hairstyle .png is not like a Preset faces in GGS. Most important for hair is the shape.

I got issue ftm i won't say it publicly and here, it's like my "refuge" so i'll pass like there's nothing.
So PES 5 project it will took time it took, but i'm a bit too perfectionnist. For every version i correct, even PES 2021 : i check the image on internet, boots when not available on Bootsdatabase etc. ... Researching took more time than creating, that's what discourage me. It's boring.

I found a lot of face-build on the net but can't resist to redo it myself : and that's every year the same when i start facebuild. Fortunately i can launch an ML without carrying about it. So if you want the file, it's already the PES 5 with the best totally original database (means no teams changed except PES/WE United) since the game was created.

if you do it with ggs not need to rename, just select the file where you need to import and will be overwrite, probably you will need to use deferred mode rather than real-time (if im not wrong with the names for those modes) otherwise, you can try with dkz studio and yes there you will need to rename and verify that the file extension is correct

I don't exactly have one map for that, someone told me something related to those pes after pes6 with the special hairstyle 2 option so im not so sure with it if im brutally honest, i will need to check and make many test with that to understand it, mainly the ps2 scene of modders is focused more on the latest versions of pes/we so there's not much information about the "older" ps2 games, but i promise sometime i will crack the logic for that :)

I have been able to fix the bugs and issues with the Winning Eleven 9 Liveware Evolution PS2 database and me and @morodolarama1 will be working together to release a patch, hopefully within the next week or so! :)

so happy to read this guys :) waiting to see some amazing work from you two!
If you don't mind taking some advice, as i understand why you upload most of the stuff into mediafire or sharemods, would you consider uploading into archive.org too? as i search and surf over the network i see so many patches and good data being lost for using some storage like rapidshare or megaupload, would be a pity that your hard work get lost like those too

anyway, thanks a lot for your dedication to the community!

Hmmm i'm building a PES 5 patch, starting by an Option file too and for WE9LE haha.

I'll send it to you @marquisPES6 in the state of advancement : it would be done for everyone but i want to make that game perfect for PS2 and a perfect basis for 2005-06 season for any editor but i plan something bigger for the database and basics.
Done, i'm working on aesthetics now.

Will send it to Madmac and Millos (and whatever want too) after exporting, everyone asking. Totally ML playable.

I talk about it since a while but never showed a "beta" lol. Well it's beta for me as i got a big plan for that version, but it will be done if we were in 2005.

If i forgot as i got stuffs here and there FTM, PM me guys ;)

I am doing it with the translation of Fernando plus the original database in Japanese from Konami but I must translate the names if someone wants to join let me know, It's just translating the names of the players by seeing what it says on the back of the shirt in the same options file, If I do it, it can take me a few days, like I did in the original we8, but it's worth it.

I would like to combine some single option files I made before now into one big OF, trying to find the easiest and fastest way. I know it is possible to copy team names, colors etc from one OF into the other in PES fan editor, but is there also a way to copy tactics and numbers?

there's no save date for Winning Eleven 5 Final Evolution ?

I downloaded the we9 iso with Fernando's translation, but since I'm not an editor, I'm transferring back to the original Japanese we9 teams the players that Fernando transferred because his patch has several transfers from the 05/06 season and the game is still set in the 04/05 season, so I'm just putting it back to the "original game" teams
That's one main issue i noticed in almost all translation patch vs original Japanese version.
Like one for example, nothing as changed except some low rated players removed : WE10. In fact Cagliari was with all fake players not even ressembling.
He "sacrified" some players departure on July to complete Cagliari with real players. To be honest it was more playable.

I don't post for it but i discovered something really interesting about J-league 2008 while i was creating Bayern and Werder : it's almost the opposite system as PES 2008! haha... Here's the simple tutorial. But don't worry i will create Bayern and Werder instead of PES and WE United.

Just for info @geeeeee and @marqisspes6 : JL2008 is probably my main favourite game in part with WE2008 which i'm desperate to found an editor lol, don't worry i don't ask anything marquis, i'll do it manually. Differences there's NT, more complete, but less ML really game changing option and less mode. They also removed tons of Preset on JL2008, i trough i could've recreate perfectly Bayern but no :(
You can play against NT even on JL2008 BUT only with the Japan Challenge Mode, so with Japan vs very very unusual nations, which is interesting. Gameplay : tiny bit slower than PES 2008, but JL2008 is a the top of the top WE/PES to me.

A. You can unlock every players and Special Clubs. They (WTF) don't appears at all in ML . Even if they registered to a club. Explanation:
Test 1: i searched about almost 5 unlocked players on their original section they're only here if you want to create some fantasy teams in fact ;)
Test 2: Ribery, Toni, etc. were registred to PES UNITED and didn't appeared in ML neither, unlocked or brought in WE-Shop.

B. There was some issue i completely forgot about those PES/WE UTD players : their cost are really versatile and lower, a bit like the "PLAYER A001" on PES 6 and 2008. As Unlockable players didn't worked. So i trough there was an annoying problem... BUT :

1. Players from PES/WE UTD disappears from ML when they are registered under the "Legends Clubs". :SMUG:
2. And in the opposite now : i recreated Ribery over a player from the Legends club > He appears in ML if he's registered to PES/WE UTD, so you don't have the same issue as the WE-SHOP players as Legends clubs Players. So everything is almost perfect or should i say you can with some tricks have a very "clean" database

CONCLUSION / WHAT TO DO :

-Just for ML : you got to base copy the players from Legends clubs or create necessary player over them, then "replace" them with the PES/WE United players.
Then with the PES UTD players registered in, for example, Classic Bundesliga (classics are made by league) you can recreate identically the old players...
Or for example, one idea i really like but i don't think to do it : recreate the 2007-08 best players of the league season, even if they're duplicate they won't appears in ML ;)

Ah yes i also forgot one thing to mention to @geeeeee about the PES 6 converter : it's probably the best and most logic converter in never see for any PES.
They did exactly the same idea as i was thinking to do : stats with priority. You made a very good choice to take that converter and i recommand it ;)
It's a bit hard to set manually some players from league which have disappeared from FIFA 23, but it's alright if you're motivated.

Ideas Like Crosses and Long Passes fits with my vision of things, converting FIFA isn't that hard with a bit of logic and PES acknowledge. I would take the maximum of 90-95% for Long passes for Crosses, 100% for Long passes. But if crosses are lower than long pass, the maximum of the two value would be took in charge. That's a bit how PES balanced his stats 20 years ago. Same for Balance vs Physical contact. And it's EXACTLY how they converted stats : by logic and limitations :)
And those stats aren't alone, but needs a complementary stats even if it's for 10%

I checked stats used for conversions, with one or two exception (like Long shot / Shoot Technique : Inzaghi and tons of players excel in shooting from every angle but aren't especially good in long shoot, same with Lampard but the opposite : he excel in long shoot but he needs to be well positioned etc.)

Otherwhise the rest is a very good choice. Attack/Defense is okay, since the time they rectified it ;). Nice choice of converter, i suppose they use the original 1st database. Fifa stats are very dynamic, but big changes are made on half season.

Ah yes sorry guys about PES 5 OF : it's not as much ready, you won't notice the difference directly. Better to send it later, when i will get more things rectified then it's PES 5, we plays it since 20 years (not me but well, i rediscover) i think there's already tons of "new gems" to check and test, and i want to give at least a most representative BETA of the final version... If i can do it as FTM, i switched to PES 2021 and JL2008 since PES5 database is finished (miss all faces and errors corrected, some player are completely wrong ;) )

Or for example, one idea i really like but i don't think to do it : recreate the 2007-08 best players of the league season, even if they're duplicate they won't appears in ML ;)
eally, I saw all the errors in the translation of fernando in we10 and fixed them all based on the japanese game, now my we 10 is original

I do the same for all version in fact. Take translation, then reset the names.
In very very rare case i found a new player created above the real one. i keep the real and just assign name.
But i don't like WE10, i remember at the time just to say : that game was so bad after PES 5 era than PES 6 was considered as "playable". Well some pro said PES 6 is the worst PES (Bruce Grannec) but he said "thank you for PES 5" after the end of PES Haha.

WE10 was just used it for editing PES 5 : the full database is converted as PES 5 were upper outdated from 2 years. WE10 restored it.

The one with the most transfers is JLWE9. In fact, Europeans teams are the same as PES 5, but here you got added players, stats changed etc.
Wanted to found some real names from that time, Asian teams especially but for example there's a Vietnam club it's practically impossible to found any info, in every language. I given up that version then, plus Asian, or should i said AFC squads (all teams added are mostly from AFC Champion's League) weren't up to date neither. Don't like that much to play with random stuffs.

Not all those teams appears in ML, only K-League, J-League and some exception if i remember. The fake Viet team for ex. wasn't there and players unaivailable, same as the other Syria club etc. etc.

PES 6 decimated the passing system. Every pass became so slow and inaccurate that the gameplay got turned on its head and became unrealistic, no pro footballer on the level of being included in PES could pass that badly without getting screamed at by the gaffers. Players didn't move at all, running into space = NIH

I'm Vietnamese. Let me know if you need help, I think Dong Tam Long An was the Vietnamese team in that game

I don't need to have the names translated from the base data, but there are always things that I can arrange using option files here I share my personal configuration of memory data for we5, we5fe, we6 and we6fe

Talking about WE5FE (so PES 1 too) i saw a month ago a post on reedit showing teams with kits. One thing i've always searched for as a big fan of the 1st version / and even more WE5FE. He posted it 3 months ago, you can see pictures... Nothing about his "iso" or where to ddl it, not even an idea of his twitter.
Do you know him? Just take a look mate :

Pass slow i don't remember but players really fast and tanks pass trough wall (Tanks equal players with high body balance and acceptable or good speed)

Thanks about the help, and yes is Dong Tam Long An (DTLA), but not only on that teams, most known teams got a wrong name. That one got players who left 2 years ago... I don't know as it's a "deja-vu" on every PES i edited.

Now, i talk about one team for giving an example but there's around 10 others teams waiting to be corrected at least name and height often wrong... And i believe it's DTLA level of difficulty to found (i suppose about Syria or Iraq). I can't search in Hong Kong or Syria even Thailand from 20 years ago : the "20 years" is THE problem. The information seems to be gone since the 2004 or 2005 AFC CL.

If those teams were actual, since PES 2018 i know more or less X websites and key word to wrote in Persian for example for Iranian team, Arabic, etc.
