The Retro-PES Corner

Well I do get this warning when I am loading every Pes game for 2010-2017. I mean it is running good all of them, but recent ones on low graphics. It also crashes when I load BAL on 2010.

Yeah must be then the graphics card driver probably missing, or your graphics card is too new that is not compatible with the old game not sure if there's a solution for that, i think you should google and see if you find anything related to it

I bought this Pc 6 years ago so it is probably graphics card missing. Thanks anyway

P.S. this glitch happened once so I really hope it is like a 1 time thing, because the Pes 2010 does not run badly on my PC

You need an external graphic to run it. The message from your previous post is clear eventhough you can run the game with lowest settings. Just get 2nd hand VGA card since you mostly play older games.

The problem with the dude above is he's not having external vga only onboard graphics that comes from the CPU. So your video is kinda useless unless you have ext VGA, for example from the video he had RTX 3070, lol.

Hello friends. I'm asking for your help, because I know that there are legendary PES fans and brilliant editors here.

I'm in a dilemma. :CONF:
It's been 4 years since I started a huge project to improve PES 2013 "using PESEdit 6.0", which is based on the 2013/14 season. I've already added tons of faces, kits, boots, and extra players (taken from the J-League DLC of Winning Eleven 2013).
It's practically a remaster, a collector's gold version.

There are several young, generic players to be used in the Master League. European and South American.

There are 3 options:
1 - Keep the originality generic ML players.

2 - Or replace them with others who were young at the time? Who are not present in the game (I replaced generic players with real ones preserving a low overall average).
For example:
Thomas Strakosha at 17 years old.
Munir El Haddadi, age 17.
Leander Dendoncker, age 17.
Alexander Sørloth, age 17.

3 - Or, I keep the generic ML, and add extra players in the creation mode. Obs.: But they won't be promises in ML for you or the CPU to hire.

What do I do? I'm open to suggestions.

If it was me, I would definitely enjoy option 2! It's always amazing to have these kind of "What if"-scenarios with real players in their youth.

To be honest, I am also a little biased here, because I really dislike the new names introduced for the Master League defaults and the youth teams from 2013 and forward. They seem... weird and generic compared to what we had in previous installments.

During the lockdown and for a year or two afterwards, my brothers and I played a lot of PES 2008 on the PS2.

We mainly played the Champions League, Europa League, World Cup, and Euros, with the three of us competing in the same group during the group stage. It was a lot of fun and is definitely my favourite PES. That said, I’ve become really good at it and rarely lose to the AI on the hardest difficulty, it's safe to say that the AI has effectively become my bitch.

To make it more challenging, I often pick smaller teams, but I enjoy playing as the underdog anyway.

Master League, on the other hand, was far too easy, even on the hardest settings. It was a bit of a challenge initially with players like Espimas, Minanda, Ruskin, and the rest, but we all know that turds must be flushed away eventually.

I’m looking for a version of PES or Winning Eleven on the PS2 that offers more challenging AI. Does anyone have any recommendations?

At the moment, I’m using OPL on the PS2 and recently tried Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution and Winning Eleven 7 International. The gameplay wasn’t bad, but finding a decently patched version has been hard work. Because changing all the background menus and names of the master league default players is a top idea! (Not really).

Unless someone wants to take a similar approach to the way unlicensed Dutch players were named in earlier PES games e.g. Oranges001 etc... and name the master league default players Turd1, Turd2, Turd3 etc.... I could consider getting behind that idea.

But any tips or recommendations would be much appreciated!

Konami should have never ever had to got rid of World Tour (PS2) and Champions Road (Wii) plus International Challenge imo.

WE 2008 is the same game as PES 2008 but slower and with a 6th difficulty stars on the WE-SHOP.
Now i found JLWE2008 more balanced and some quick retouch make it, the AI seems less versatile there's less space leave by the CPU opponent. Almost perfect if you like PES 2008.

Some says (about PES 2008) it's a Pes 6.5 i don't think they really tried it.
To get the difference, simply play 3 games on the 2008 and make a step back on PES 6 and you will feels directly the difference, i won't wrote them one by one as it's boring for me to write and for you to read lol.

Well the switching between the 2 games is exactly what happened to me, i didn't played PES 6 for a long time and was shocked by how "easy" it was to pass through everything and how super-heroes were the (offensive) players.

I agree about those names, they look like the devs were either desperate to make them sound as unrealistic as possible or else they just laid their head on the keyboard halfway through typing each name :)

You refer to the original Master League players as turds?!? Blasphemy! :DD Whenever I play I try to keep them going as long as possible, favouring them over more highly rated real players if I can afford to, and sometimes even buy the rejuvenated 17 year old versions a year or two after they retire (this is in PES earlier than 2008 by the way, I've only ever been able to play the 'next gen' aka bad version of PES 2008 rather than the highly rated PS2 version so never played a full season).

What I liked about PES 08 in PS2 almost 15 years ago is the team rating you'd get at ML.

You'd need a certain amount of supporters and points to sign top players like Ronaldinho. If you weren't an AA team, starting from E or D if I'm not mistaken, you wouldn't be able to get him.

Something interesting about PES 08, at least in the PS2 version, is that youd have European Qualifiers for the Euros on Cup mode.

Yes, you could actually play the Euro 08 qualifiers with participating national teams. The only playable NTs available were the ones from Europe A and B as Europe C, containing trams such as San Marino, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Armenia, Bosnia, and so, were unplayable having fake named players instead of the original ones, as per usual. It worked exactly the same as PES 06 International Challenge calling-up a 18-man squad before having a 23-man squad after qualifying for the finals - Group Stage.

The Shop was also different having Bundesliga based players that you could buy - especially the ones that were not represented in the game via NT or playable clubs. Interesting to see how Konami dealt with EA's blockage of the Bundesliga, albeit the DFB is not associated to FIFPro until this day which made it impossible have the Bundesliga back.

I'm unaware if the Euro qualies carried tiself into PES 09 and later editions at PS2 level. As far as I'm concerned it didn't but it served as a pathway to make things compatible with PES 09 BAL and ML which was already been tested in some PES JP versions around 2006 and 2007 before it's full worldwide release as a playable mode.

Talking of which ML's - I appreciate the fact of having sponsors very much alike PS3 versions. It provided depth and realism into PS2 versions as well as leaving behind that fantasy approach from older PESs.

Hello everyone!

Great thread, it's really sad that in new games there is no excitement, soul, when in old games I got great pleasure from master league..

But, here's the trouble, the problem with OF, it's almost impossible to find working links to old versions((

I want to buy myself a PS3 and PES2011 for it, but I can't find OF for EU anywhere, please help... I need up-to-date links..

and what about DLC where to download them for PES 2011 for PS3?

And why not create a similar topic in which you could download working links to old versions of PES?

Winning Eleven 2008 with the extra star difficulty and slower gameplay, I have to say, sounds intriguing. As does the J-League version. Are there patched Iso's available for OPL? What does the community consider to be the best patch? and what do you consider to be the best?

Yeah, I share your disagreement, there is a fairly noticeable difference between PES 6 and PES 2008 in terms of gameplay. PES 2008 is better when it comes to exhibition matches with our fellow earthlings. I have never quite understood why PES6 is held in such reverence, although I suppose Adriano's left foot having the status of a demigod might have something to do with it! Honestly, he is like Christy Brown with a 99 shot power rating.

If you could point me to a download page or link or whatever, for JLWE2008 and WE2008, I would appreciate it. When not playing with others, it is preferable for me anyway to find a challenging CPU AI experience. No point in playing if it is going to be easy and you are going to win everything.

I am one of those sick freaks that actually does not mind getting relegated because it seems more real. Got relegated with Cardiff in FIFA14 from the premier league and had to beat Man United at Old Trafford to stay up and hope that Brighton did not win. Brighton drew and well I was winning 1-0 until the 81st minute and then Andreas Pereira equalised. It felt like more than a game at that point lol.

I like the challenge of playing with the ML default players because it is hard, but they are god awful, in terms of ability. The PS2 PES2008 is a quality game, it still holds up to this day. It is a much more enjoyable playing experience against a person rather than AI, especially if the person is good at the game and not a dog. Don't play against a dog, it is ruff experience.

note : don't forget to apply the O.F. for having reworked kits.

And WE2008 vanilla (Billykong version works bad with OPL, lot of slowdowns) here : https://archive.org/details/WE2008-PS2-JPN click on "iso" to start download (it's pretty slow on Internet Archives)

Here for th V1 of Juventino option file, rosters are the same as PES 2008 it's an only aesthetic O.F. / Well, same as JL2008 but that one got, like "final evolution" or the usual WE out in april-may, transfers updated from winter 07-08

(IF WE2008 takes too long to ddl, tell me and i'll upload mine on mediafire) have fun

I don't know about up-to-date, but you can find some old PS3 of from here ..
https://www.pesnewupdate.com/search/label/PlayStation 3 Patch?max-results=10

Perhaps keep note of some of the patchmakers, they may have continued making an up-to-date patch.
Unfortunately the community is a bit too divided. Alot of stuff is "exclusive" now .. you have to like a facebook page , or join a discord.

It's a shame PS3 doesn't get talked about as much, but I think it's due to all those generation of games being much more moddable on PC.
You got the PTE (Evo-Web) or the Smoke Patch, made your own adjustments if you wished, & you were golden.
I still highly recommend those patches btw.

Recommended to post here also, so...

Having trouble on some PS2 football games. Players appear like a black shadow. Anyone know of a fix for this?

(Mainly TIF 2005 & Football Kingdom)

I am afraid, I am bit confused by these instructions, silly me :BRICK:

It seems like most people are using PCSX2. However, my set up involves using OPL through a MEMCARD PRO 2 with Free McBoot installed and an MX4SIO to load ISO Files from. It is a handy wee setup, but I can see the appeal of using PCSX2. Most Iso files I have tried, have just been like patched ISO's. I have just loaded the ISO and played.

I did try a BillyKong version for Winning Eleven 7 international and it froze every time when loading an exhibition match. Just to clarify, are you suggesting to download JLWE2008CC by Billy Kong and also apply an additional option file? If so how is that achieved? Or can I just download that ISO without the need to add an option file?

And are you suggesting the same for WE2008 Vanilla to download the ISO from internet archive and to download an additional Option File (Juventino OF V1). I suppose the main issue for me is how to add the OF on OPL, never done this process before or are there just patched versions of these ISO's that contain all the changes detailed in the Option Files, you know more of a load the ISO and play solution without the need to load an option file or whatever. Maybe adding the option file to OPL is straightforward enough and I am just overcomplicating and overthinking it haha.

send me the option files you want to convert for OPL, I will modify them, and you will just have to place them in the right place.

for my part, no iso made by billykong, works without the slowdowns on my PS2 console (even after having followed the indication to correct the problem).can someone upload all his achievements so that they are PS2 compatible?

Thanks for your response. I’ll be honest, I’m still fairly new to all this and not entirely sure how to proceed with your suggestions. Another user previously recommended WE2008 and JLWE2008CC along with accompanying option files, but I don’t have much experience with setting them up. This was recommended to me today in this forum.

I only joined EvoWeb about two weeks ago, but I’m already finding it a bit overwhelming and considering deleting my account. I recently set up my PS2 with OPL, and my main aim was to access download links for Winning Eleven Final Evolution games—particularly WE6FE and WE7I—as well as PES2014.

I’m really just looking for simple patches: real kits, correct player names etc... and as much English translation (text and commentary) as possible. The Final Evolution games offer a unique and interesting gameplay experience, but finding decent patches has been such a tedious and time-consuming process. It feels like I’m endlessly searching through webpages, YouTube videos, and forum threads. Sometimes I do come across a promising patch, but then it’s let down by odd design choices—things like removing the player cursor, adding distracting custom backgrounds, or even using a light green ball on a green pitch.

It would be so much easier if these patches and option files were organised into clear threads or folders, but maybe I’m just missing something as a newcomer. It’s disheartening when you don’t have the time to spend hours on this.

Thanks again for your reply - really appreciate any further guidance you can offer.
