Just been on the WNEB forums for the first time in a while and can't believe how negative that place has gone, there are so many people criticizing the game that I don't think Adam can ban them all like he usually does when people criticize the game as he'll have no forum left.

:LMAO::LMAO::LMAO:

A week ago i put the game on sale, half of his price, and still no one appeared to buy it.

A clear example that the game is a real crap. :R1

Not everything's black and white, for God's sake. Some of the "flaws" as you see them are indeed design choices (e.g. wayward shots when heavily pressured, these were in 2011 as well and they're clearly supposed to be there, even if the idea is not particularly well executed). Others are obviously the result of tech limitations or sloppy coding, and I think we all know that - it's just that some of us can put up with them because we enjoy the game overall, others can't because they don't.

Yeah, how on earth did that happen, eh?

Theres a difference between taking quotes from a post that is on the same page, from ones that have been made over a period of a year and taken completely out of the discussion they were originally in and its context.

Are stand by what i said,i loved demo1 and demo2.I even prefered version 1.00 to either of the patches that came afterwards. However, after prolonged play of version 1.00,ive simply had enough of seabasses scripting to compensate for the lack of intuitive manual control, and the weaknesses of the ai.Not only this but ive tired of the same wooden gameplay mechanics that we have been served for god knows how long.Theres no challenge and pes has become dull,a shell of what it once was.Its just not enjoyable anymore, and im not alone in this mindset. You might want a dull simulation thats just playing out with limited control, but i want to control everything on the pitch directly with my stick and buttons with stats also playing there part.ISS on the n64 did so why cant pes,and considering pes2012 uses the exact ai system and stats as ISS on the n64 it is possible. So much so that demo1 actually resembled ISS on the n64 more,it even had the quick throw ins.But WEPS did a u-turn because of the fan backlash. This has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

How many other people started off liking version 1.00,or the patched version but have now given up because they have reached the same conclusion.

My egos not that big where i have to repeat the same mantra through fear of losing my credbility, because im not looking for friends,or to be part of something.I just like discussing, arguing and dissecting games,is that alright.

And for the record the asian demo of pes2011 had a system where you could apply back and top spin on the ball at the moment you made contact with it as did pes2009.This like over things never made it into the final version of pes2011.It was the same with the asian demo1 this year, you could curl the ball when you struck it when shooting. This is one of my biggest gripes over the course of the last two years, the demos felt more free and fluid, they might of lacked polish but they didnt need to be so butchered come final release, just to satisfy the automation crowd that couldnt cope with pes taking a more progressive direction.

Pes needs to be rebuilt,a new game with a new control interface, something that finally leaves pes on the ps2 in its mirrors and doesnt look back.Something that also serves up tech and ai grounded in the 21st century. If konami serve more of what we have this year it will be the end,if it isnt already to late.

Polaroid, atari, intellivision, followed a dated business model and didnt move with the times as have many other companys and developers,it generally spells doom and demise PETER.

You,jimmy and whoever else can say what you like,i will still post on here over the coming years, you will not intimidate or scare me off with your pack mentality.

I put my thoughts out there wrongly or wrightly,if people like it,good,if not dissect it.It doesnt cause me sleepless nights or offence.

Nobody seems to have mentioned how manual runs are problematic (well i probably have before and forgot). Far too often i'll switch to do it and my player, whilst already running forward due to AI, will stop or run in the opposite direction for a brief moment before adjusting his run to the direction i'm holding. It's pretty annoying. A lot of the time i'll do the manual run thang looking for a player to come and collect the ball in space (not outer space) and he'll end up going the opposite way first completely messing up my timing so i see that little stutter animation where the player can't adjust his body to control the ball that rolls closely by him. Is it just me? Does anybody else use the manual run control?

Also i've been ill for the past couple of days so i've been skimming this forum without posting. Some of you guys get far too mad at each other. CAN'T YOU SEE, THAT'S WHAT SEABASS WANTS!

According to Jon Murphy Demo 2 is the same as final game, i think he must of been on a couple of hundred mushies right enough when he said it.

No problem with shooting for me either, and I play with Helsinki! :)

Is the game broken or am I just content with the rubbish that Konami have served up?

So i guess Ronaldo meant to hit the spectator sitting in Row G instead of the back of net, oh and Torres missed an open goal on purpose. The ball doesn't always go where you want it to go. It's not hard and fast in PES, it's more about feel as it is in real life. Just like Rooney, he hits a shot based on his instinct and bearing when taking some shots. If he hasn't had a chance to look up he uses his pripheral vision or senses to ascertain where he thinks the goal is and the position of the keeper. How many times do we see a player hit a fantastic shot on the turn, with perfect technique and as he intended, only for him to look up and realise he's hit it straight at the keeper.

Like every PES game before, the shooting takes some getting used to. If it was broken then no one would be able to adapt to it. The thing that Jimmy is trying to get across, and you misconstrue as arrogance,is that you have to play the percentages. If you are capable of identifying the factors and assess a player's situation beforehand, you know what type of shot is possible and so will not attempt something that is not possible. It's very simple and so I'm sure you all understand this, so just put it into practice. The shooting is not random, it's contextual and very realistic.

It's all relative guys, the direction you aim is relative to the player's body position, the direction he is moving in, and where the ball is. Add to this the player's skill, pressuring defenders, goalkeeper's positioning, the game situation (i.e. 1-0 down in the last minute vs Barcelona in a Champions League Final), fatigue etc. and you realise that there are alot of factors that effect the shot.

Insight into my method of shooting in PES, may help some, may be seen as arrogance to others or it might just be ammo for those waiting to pounce and debate me back to Domboshawa or Timbuktu, or wherever it is I came from. I'm willing to risk it though - for a shot from distance, i make sure my player is behind the ball and has his momentum going through the ball.

I get my player to hit the ball ahead and use R1 to get some speed, as I get in the shooting stride (2 steps before contact is made) I release R1. Now, before I press the shoot button, I aim the analogue straight at the keeper and just before/as I press shoot I adjust to either side, depending on which side of the keeper I want the shot to go and how far into the corner I want it to go. So I aim straight and as I go to press shoot I yank the analogue either down, towards me, or up, away from me.

I use R2 religiously but this is not necessary to direct the shot, it just adds alot more control and defines what type of shot is made depending on when and how, in the shooting process, you press it. The aiming mechanism is always the same, so for instance, if your player is running in from the touchline and is facing 4 O'clock as he strikes the ball, my analogue is facing somewhere between 7 & 5 O'clock when I shoot, if I want the far post (player's perspective), or bottom post when looking at the screen (your/my perspective). Illustrated below:

Illus.png

If the player cuts in from the opposite wing and is facing 2 O'clock when the striking the ball, then my analogue is somwhere between 11 & 1 O'clock. I'm sure you get the jist. Try it out in training, remove the keeper and choose Ronaldo, then you will realise just how accurate the shooting is.

Oh one more thing, saying my player always shoots straight at the keeper doesn't really aid the broken game theory. The keeper moves, and better keepers positioning facilitates that they move as little as possible to save a shot in any direction. So sometimes it only "seems" as though you are shooting straight at the keeper.

Still not thinking this is the game for me, using some good advice from people on here has improved things alot, but I seem to go through the same cycle when trying to play over a few matches.

First game, I enjoy a lot. Second, not so much. Third game, I'm starting to get frustrated and a bit bored. Fourth game, I'm really bored and switch it off.

I just don't have the patience anymore. There are so many things about it to enjoy which is why a lot of my posts are enthusiastic one minute, negative the next, but the bugs are just doing my head in now. Just feels like the game continually finds new ways to kick you in the teeth. I was 2-0 up in one game, using Robbery's tactics which worked a charm before, but in the 79th minute the CPU snatches back a goal out of nothing. Lofted through ball to a lone striker, I have the chance to clear the ball, power bar charges but he doesn't respond again and the striker slots it home for their first shot on goal. I already concede that the game WILL come back to level the game now. Sure enough, on 88 minutes, another loose punt upfield falls straight for their 70 odd rated striker, who, in the prior 88 minutes had been incapable of doing anything against my defending, suddenly turns into Leo Messi and slaloms through three tackles before a huge gap opens up and he slots it past the keeper.

HOWEVER, on 90+ minutes, I go up the other end on a counter attack, get in behind them, drill a low ball across the face of goal which beats everyone, I tap shoot because Ribery has an open goal and just needs to tap the ball in. He slides, misses it completely, and the CPU has completed the most scripted feeling comeback yet. Bemused, I view the replay, and see close up how Ribery indeed got to the ball, slid to touch the ball into the net, but the ball actually physically passed THROUGH his leg like it wasn't there. Brilliant. Another bug that somehow cost me another game. I can ignore certain deficiencies with any game, but not on this scale. I concede due to an animation/input lag lock up, then due to a scripted AI 'Messi' dribble, then a certain goal denied by the game allowing the ball to pass through the body of my striker a yard from an empty net. So a 70 rated CPU player can dribble 30 yards past a ton of players, but my 90 rated winger suddenly has a hole in his foot/leg when he has a tap in?

I just think there are too many buggy issues which seem to effect the outcome of matches. It's a shame because I don't have any football game to play with any enthusiasm now, FIFA12 is better in many ways but still has something missing like Jamezinho says. It feels too static and predictable.

I agree with what Pere said elsewhere, I don't doubt this game is great when played properly against like minded people, but offline, it's too frustrating for me. There's something about it that sucks all the fun out of it. Maybe it's the CPU. I find it too predictable and boring. No matter who I play, without fail, I register 60% of the play, every time. I suppose the boredom comes from the fact that the CPU doesn't feel like any kind of representation of a real life football team. It somehow 'feels' robotic.

Just a quickie LT, you dont need to charge the power bar to clear it, just press Square, or tap Square, that's the clearance button. Trying to charge up Circle is a very bad option. Like your football manager always would preach, 'If in doubt, kick it out'.

I really hope thats not true because I have just given up online because of similar issues, I loved MLO last year I wasn't great at it and sat around D3 but it was fun, win some, lose some, but if you beat a decent team you were rewarded. This year in the UK we get the game 2 weeks later so every superstar is now 30Million plus and the game is so one sided to anyone who has a superstar and can dribble, you cant play football, because you cant pass the ball around quick enough without passes going awol, superstar sprinting etc.

If you take the world of football according to Seabass you have.

1. Superstar players can sprint for 90 mins without ever getting tired.
2. Defenders will fail to re-act to any movement of another player or the ball.
3. Defenders would rather duck than stop the ball going in the net
4. Free Kick outside the goal = Goal (imagine the scores in the premiership)
5. Midfield is worthless, 5 defenders, 5 fast forwards....Job Done.
6. Goalkeepers cannot stop low shots from 40 yards as they are unable to move to their left right but must dive from where they were standing.
7. Shooting doesn't bother me that much but the player slide when you press [] for him to power up but instead he slides and misses the ball seriously winds me up.
8. Goalkeepers cannot stop a 1 on 1 , they run where the ball was and cannot read its flight at all.

In MLO this daily wave of condition is madness, I know what they were trying to achieve, making people think more about the team etc, however surely the easiest way was the more people who have a player the more his condition is in the lower regions , therefore Pato, Piatti etc would be worthless and people would look to other options.

I am a Fanboy I will admit it , 1 game for 12 months and I have played PES since day one on the 64, however this is the 1st Pes I dont want to instantly play when I get in from work / on a weekend, there is no sense of enjoyment its just difficult, it maybe because I am not good at sprint dribbling and all the tricks etc, however I really really enjoyed the Demo's making space and trying to find an angle to feed a ball through, thats all gone in the final release.

I am not sure what Jon Murphys job actually is as he seems to have been lied to or undermined with his comments about the final version, but the last 2 patches dont seem to have made the game any better from my viewpoint, however I would admit that if I was good at dribbling, sprinting , close control then this may be the game for me as it seems to be very much positioned as that.

Demo 2!

Demo 2!

Demo 2!

They were making the demos all year! Then they bottled it! Again!

That was football! Defending was about holding your shape! Tackling was a last measure - like real football! Positioning in the demo was superbly manual and so rewarding!

Active AI was superb! Teammates with intelligence! Since when you're attacking you are only controlling one player and the defending team can switch between as many as they like, you need intelligent active teammates! Not guys who stand in an unavailable position! Why was this removed! The R3 player run feature doesn't really work anymore either!

The ball was a ball! It weighed something! you could spray it without defenders outrunning it! You struck it and it dipped! You pass it and you felt the manual pass was really working, and how satisfying getting even the simple passing game right! Like real football, you could get the ball to do the work!

You could get round the back! The games could become truly stretched and 1 vs 1 opportunities could be carved out! The attackers body actually had weight! And a pacy player once clear was clear and the excitement is at it's max!

WE SHOULD START A PETITION TO GET OUR MONEY BACK, WE PLAYED A DEMO, WE LOVED IT AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS FINAL CODE. THEN WHEN THE CHEQUE CLEARED WE WERE GIVEN SOMETHING FAR FAR WORSE.

SURELY WE'D HAVE A CASE! AND KONAMI WOULD GET THE FUCKING MESSAGE!

PS Playing Demo 2 now - Absolutely superb!

Oh! And the refs punished fouls!

How do I get in touch with this complacent company? I demand a refund and I want them to know why!

Not wishing to start a debate or anything but WENB must have been on crack to give this game a 9/10.

By giving it a 9/10 are they seriously saying this game is up there with the best this generation has to offer? Is this game really a shining example of the genre? Because that's what a 9 rated game is for me.

I'd give PES2012 a 7/10 - it's a love/hate experience. In places it's classic PES at it's best with a strong emphasis on player individuality and a tactical game, but more often than not it's a confused, unbalanced mess. Some nice ideas - particularly trying to push the boundaries with the AI - but in the end deeply flawed to an almost game-breaking level.

Exactly, the final game and the patched versions were so compromised and a empty shallow vessel compared to both demo1 and demo2,totally scripted with all the fun and manual enjoyment stripped away.Devoid of all the control the demos offered.

Both the demos were a more tecnical experience and required genuine skill to play, two of the best representations of football ever made, all they had to do was POLISH.

Im taking some time out now,ive said enough and to use the pes messiahs words, its pointless stressing myself and others out,pes isnt a moving target anymore and moaning isnt going to make a jot of difference.

Im not buying into the promise next year, unless i here superlative after superlative at ever stage im keeping away from pes.Ive got skyrim, halo tenth anniversary and numerous other polished, well thought out and genuinely enjoyable games to play. That are pushing the most out of the ps3,pc and xbox360.I just cant do this to myself every year as i have the last five,im getting to old.

The closest you can get to Demo is by deleteting the patches so the game is 1.00, now it's still not quite Demo 2 but it really aint that far away.

If I had 22 like minded friends I would get them all together with a video camera and play a game of football where we are bound by the laws of PES. Similar to the video below it would highlight just how ridiculous many aspects of the game are compared with what they are trying to recreate.

Thanks for the help Jimmy, it's really appreciated but this time I have genuinely played it for the last time. Full respect to those who love the game, maybe you're just all better than me at it, but every PES has a learning curve that eventually sees me able to fully delve into the depth the game has. Not this time though. I must have played hundreds of PES2012 matches now and there's no learning curve for me at all. I still have at least 60% of the play, I still get hounded off the ball all game by a CPU with limitless stamina, and I still get shafted on the counter. Add to that instances where you 'score' only to see the ball passing through your player's body and I can't take it any more.

After posting about the bizarre things the game did last night, I played a FL match with my Marseille team and ML defaults. Now, I know they're by definition crap players but they are supposed to be the same standard as the rest of D2. Yet this match summed up everything I hate about this game. I conceded a 3rd minute goal from a raking, magical 70 yard through pass and weak shot under my pathetic keeper's dive, then proceeded to have 65% of the possession, they had TEN players crammed in their box when I have the ball 40 yards from goal, yet again this means I slog away the whole match with almost all the play but can't get any shots or chances on goal. The CPU frankly chase and press with no stamina effects at all, they are all stronger, run faster, and the ball almost 100% of the time rebounds kindly for them. They then go and score another two unstoppable goals with the only times they venture into my half. One, a 35 yard strike, the last from another massive lofted through pass to the one striker who's on his own by 60 yards or more.

In short, I play the same game over and over and over. Until the AI starts to get punished for constant sprinting for 90 minutes, any reference to this as a sim is way off the mark.

Again, it's just my opinion, but the way these games pan out doesn't feel like any kind of realistic flow of a real match. I agree there are many technical aspects when you HAVE the ball that are sim-like, but I can't play offline if the AI is so atrocious. Losing or drawing most games on Pro in FL is one thing, it's another where you lose EVERY time massively against the run of play. If I have a shit team I should be pinned back by the CPU, the AI should have more possession, more shots, but it's not capable, it's incredibly limited.

Ten men behind the ball, soak it up, venture 2-3 times into the other team's half and s ore 2-3 goals. That, over and over again, just isn't fun.

Fair enough LT. Maybe a decent break might help. Also, Top Player and defaults on Zero sounds awful to me bud.

I would love to see the CPU hold the ball up more though, they do seem intent on just getting forward too quickly for my liking.

Is anyone else having problems with the game lagging, juddering and skipping frames when OFFLINE in single player mode?

Is there anything that can be done to fix this as its making the game unplayable? I have been playing on mid range camera, speed 0, 32" hd tv.

Cheers

Things outside of core gameplay where the game needs to improve

Sort the entire foul/card system out - It's so basic, there's no other description for it. Consistent fouling should result in a yellow. Fouling when an advantage is played should result in cards if the initial tackle is bad enough. Fouls given on the edge of the box should not be seen as equal to fouls in the middle. You shouldn't be able to brush somebody a little bit and give away a free-kick on the 18 yard box line every single time. Plus how often do you ever see reds in this game? The game doesn't seem to have a system in place to differentiate between fouls. All card worthy fouls seem to be yellows with an arbitrary red thrown in randomly for the same tackle every 25 or so games.

Sound - It's fucking awful. I scored an equaliser in the 90th minute and it's the same crowd noise as if i scored at any other time (which isn't much to begin with. Player noise too should be there.

Celebrations - See above. Felt like there was no passion at all considering the circumstance.

Dynamic drawing system in tournaments - It's not good how you just proceed to see who you get rather than having a real time system (see FM) that shows you for each round.

National Anthems - Show both teams anthems you imbeciles (Konami). It makes no sense not to.

Better intro to match - I dislike the way it shows every player and stops on each of them. Seems like a waste of time where as they could just pan all of them and move onto the refs and the other team. You know like real tv coverage does.

Get rid of that fucking stop-start running man on the side of the pitch - Nuff said

Players warming up - Would add atmosphere that's sadly lacking.

Player ratings - They haven't actually worked for about 6 years now.

There's probably a ton more but these are the things that i thought of from two games earlier in an international tournament. Sadly the game is basically negligible in all other areas away from the pitch.

He is an oddball, why is he at every ground running about the edge of the pitch then stopping for a minute or two before running again for the FULL match? I cannot understand what they are trying to replicate with him?

Heads or Tails before kick-off. :SMUG: - Why always Home player has to start the game attacking to the right? It was OK on ISS series, is part of the game. I don´t get why Konami removed it.
