Sony PlayStation 3

Both games are great though, check the threads for them. Certainly experiences you cant get anywhere else, but if you a sports game fan, not sure they 300 quids worth of experience.

yea

maybe if i can get a good deal on a 2nd hand ps3

even if it is the earlier ones, is there anything i should know about these that has been improved in the later ones?

or should i go for a 80gb ps3, what sort of price is a good deal for one of them

£100 or we talking more

cheers

Think the older models problems have passed with the leap year bug just missed. Older models may come with a SIXAXIS rather than a Dual Shock 3. Also some older models have taken the YLOD. Just make sure it's working but I still doubt very much you would pick one up for under a ton.

Your getting a ps3? :CONFUSE:.

About fucking time

If you're thinking of getting the older models, make sure its the 80gb version. Mine didn't get the leap year bug.

Well I just sold my old 160GB PS3 (because I upgraded to a 250GB Slim) for £170. So I would expect them to fall into these price ranges:

60GB Launch Model: £125 - £160 - More expensive due to added features such as PS2 Backwards Compatability, SACD Support, Chrome plating, Card Reader and extra USB ports. More susceptible to YLOD failure but its still relatively rare. SIXAXIS supplied.

40GB - Around £130 - The model after the 60GB. Less prone to failure due to reduced component sizes and heat output. SIXAXIS supplied.

80GB - Around £150 - Same as the 40GB but with twice the storage and comes with a DualShock 3 instead.

160GB - Around £150 - £180 - Same as the 80GB but with increased storage. DualShock 3 supplied.

120GB Slim - Around £150 - £200 - Latest model. Further reduced component sizes. Reduced weight, size, heat output and electrical usage. Lack of touch sensitive buttons and Other OS support.

250GB Slim - Around £190 - £240 - Latest model. Same as the 120GB Slim but with over 2X the storage capacity. Both Slims come supplied with DualShock 3 controllers.

*ALL PS3's have Hard Disk Drives that are upgradable by the end user without voiding the warranty.*

Hope this helps! :)

cheers mate

appreciate that

might just buy one new and if i don't use it i could sell and still get a decent price back for it then

cheers

If you have an Xbox 360, why dont you trade that in? If all you want a console for is sports games and the other 2 you mentioned then you might as well just stick with the PS3. Its a fantastic console and this is coming from someone who owns all three. Just my two cents.

all my mates own an xbox so have to stick with that for fifa

fking car has just died on me tonight, lost power looks like this is going to cost me couple of hundred if i am lucky, which could of been my ps3..

going to have to really want a ps3 now

‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (25th March 2010)

EnglishSelect a Language:
FrançaisDeutsch

Countries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZ

Another week, another store update, and another chance to spend some quality time with me, you lucky, lucky people :)

This week’s update really is an eclectic mix, and quite heavy on the offers too. Continued from last week we the latest batch of special offers which are here for one more week (look out for the new batch next Thursday). We have permanent price reductions on the first two episodes of Blue Toad Murder Files, as well as the mini title Vempire. Finally, our friends at SEGA have rolled out some reductions across a range of their catalogue, and these will be available until the 29th of April.

Onto the new content, on PSP we see the release of Pinball Heroes, which you can buy as a full collection of four tables (themed as: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Everybody’s Golf, High Velocity Bowling and PAIN), or you can buy the tables individually, so for those of you who have been waiting to test your pinball wizardry here’s your chance.

Manic Monkey Mayhem joins the minis ranks, and is bound to please with it’s unique mix of angry monkeys and banana flinging antics.

For those of you who are looking to tinker with your XMB theme, or PSN ID, then we have new dynamic themes and avatars available also. Heavy Rain and Mega Man 10 bring new themes, and the latest batch of avatars features cast and origami figures from the world of Heavy Rain.

There’s still more to see though, and for the full rundown the complete list is below.

As usual, comments, you, me, etc etc.

Have a good week all!

which games do you recommend guys..

i have heavy rain, uncharted 2

looking at buying uncharted and little big planet for £10 each

cheers

If you have played any of the Metal Gear Solid series than MGS4 is a fitting finale, and in my personal opinion the best game this generation.

Killzone 2 is also a fantastic FPS with a solid single player narrative and fantastic multiplayer that is better than your COD's and Battlefields. In addition it has some of the best graphics in a console game.

God of War 3 which just came out sets the new graphical standard and is an epic finish to the trilogy.

Other notable exclusives include Everybody's Golf, inFamous, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Warhawk, MAG etc.

The first Uncharted and LBP are must buys then, I guess. There seems to be a lot of jewels already in the sony catalogue, to me this games are what make the difference: Heavy rain, LBP, Uncharted, Infamous... and Demon's souls of course. I liked a lot Demon's souls, but it is a very hardcore game and you end up putting loads of hours in it. It's not a game for everybody, but amongst the best games I've ever played in many many senses.

cheers i will look into infamous

but i will hold off buying anything else as i want to complete all the others

i have heavy rain, uncharted, uncharted 2, LBP

my son has borrowed surf up and he will play LBP

i will play heavy rain until i complete it and then uncharted 2

going to play heavy rain later, looking forward to it. hope i am not near finishing it

how many hours gameplay is there on heavy rain

It took me about twelve hours to finish Heavy Rain, there is a lot of replay value though.

Its better you play the first Uncharted though.

There's a little bit of carry over (including a couple of quips / jokes), so I'd recommend playing the first one first.

The other thing is that if you play Uncharted 2 first, 1 might not have the same 'epic / wow factor'. I won't spoil it, but something happens in Uncharted 1 that is a, shall we say, a little off-putting. It isn't a game breaker, but by the sequel more than makes up for it.

I only finished it last week as I was catching up on some other games (still haven't opened Fallout 3 yet!), so only just started Heavy Rain - about 3-4 hours in at the moment. I want to be up to date for when Red Dead Redemption comes out :)
