Sony PlayStation 3

I aquired anothert ps3 (slim) a bit ago (did a swap for a spare 360 with a mate)

And although i dont get on with most of the games, uncharted 2 is the best game i have played on since i can remember.

Well I used to have Linux on my old PS3, but since I upgraded to the Slim im not too bothered about it. I can understand the frustration of those who were still using the Linux platform.

I had no idea this was happening. I was seriously thinking of installing red hat on it. Luckily I didn't.

That was the reason lol! They mentioned it in the press release that this update was made due to security concerns.

Bah.. There are still people who will keep their linux's and find a way around that as usual.

Surely if you refuse the update though (which gets rid of the option to use linux) you won't be able to use the online features. Which means there isn't a way round it until you install the update.

So they have solved the hacker issue, because those who are trying to hack the PS3 won't accept the update and will be unable to go online until they do accept the update.

With a bit of googling you can.... ;)

Update time again, and how quick the Easter weekend has come and gone! I hope you all sufficiently got your fill of chocolate goodness, and if you’re anything like me, you’re now suffering from the guilt and are working on hard on losing all those extra pounds you’ve gained.

Talking of losing pounds, here is the weekly release of content to help you spend your pennies (I know, that was one of the greatest links of all time right?). Our PSP Favourites promotion is here for one more week, as well as the latest batch of Special Offers which will be replaced with new deals next week.

Onto the new stuff, our friends from FirstPlay release the first episode of their new video magazine offering, as well as the option to subscribe for three months worth of episodes. We’ve watched this project come to fruition with great interest, and I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s been worth the wait once you try it for yourself.

Blue Toad Murder Files episodes 4, 5 and 6 arrive, with more puzzles and intrigue for you to delve into, whilst we also have the demo for 2010 FIFA World Cup, and the latest mini to hit our digital shelves – Freekscape: Escape From Hell.

As usual, I don’t have enough space to write about all the content available this week, so for the full listing have a gander at the list below.

A couple of quick questions: my girlfriend just came back from the US with a bran new ps3 slim (i live in madrid)!!!
1) What profile should I create for getting demos and stuff? spanish, Uk, american??
2) What's the best on line shop for games??

Sorry to bother i am a pc gamer..new to the ps3 world.

If you live in Madrid then you should create a spanish one, normally. You can create accounts from other regions too though. You just need to supply the right address.

cheers lads thanks for the info.

I still haven't managed to unpack it...!!!!
But red redemption is gonna be the firt game on the list, followed by uncharted 1 and 2!!!!

Just read this on an American site so I'm not sure if the same is true for the EU but it should be

Are you a PlayStation 3 owner that's tired of not getting new content until Thursday? Well, that extra day wait is almost over.

Starting on May 4, PlayStation Network updates will be arriving on Tuesday.

its gonna be Wednesdays for EU
Tuesdays become the new day for PSN updates in North America, as recently explained by Pulse's Christina Lee (pictured, above). In Europe, content will be updated on Wednesday, as explained by SCEE's Mike Kebby.

PS3 3.30 System Software Update

Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.

* Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
o Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
o Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
o Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)

In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.
