Sony PlayStation 3

Warhawk is still very popular online, over 500k people play ranked games, also more people downloaded it from the store. Gamespot weren't pleased with that.

So now Ive joined the ps3 gang, what game(s) do you gusy recommend?

Tried the uncharted demo and think its really good, so might get that at some point. Any other game worth getting?

Better come in and Champion the PS3 a bit :)

UTIII - Very good online shooter, great fun. And the first console game to offer user created mods and also the option to use Keyboard/Mouse as traditional PC FPS controls.

GT5 - People are down on it, but it is VERY good despite some flaws - and for £17 you cannot go wrong.

Warhawk - Also very good and far from losing popularity - its actually due another large expansion soon and will be one of the first games to integrate some interesting options with the upcoming Home.

MLB08: The Show - Bit specialist as Baseball is a minority sport over here, but if you have ANY interest in either Baseball or excellent sports games in general, then this really is one of the PS3s standout titles (really!).

Rockband - Not a lot to say, if you can afford it - get it!

Everybodys Golf - Very good single player, excellent mutiplayer. Great longevity.

Plus there are some good PSN games which can have some good value for ~£5.

Upcoming exclusives are looking good too - Haze, LittleBig Planet, MGS4 and Home will be launching soon which looks more interesting than anything the 360 has come up with thus far.

So dont worry - its easy for people to bash the PS3 now. The lineup started slow, but it has a very good back-catalog now and people seem to forget the 360 took as long to get going.

Seems to be fashionable to slag the PS3 with little way of backing up the argument. The PS3 online sucks, but its free (TBH, I'd rather pay to have a better service) and generally copes well. Sony have updated the firmware a fair bit and the next update (due in a week or so) should have either in-game access to XMB which people have been crying out for - or Home.

Other than the online (at the moment), the PS3 is a great machine...

Super Stardust HD is a must from the store.

Yea you can get it without the headset.

You can buy just the game in shops.

Tnx tobi, I looked at two shops over here, a gameshop and a hmv esque shop and both only had the with headset version. Thats why I asked, and wont be downloading it. With the games installing on the hdd I would quickly lose space, the 40gb is already down to 23gb with gt5 and a couple of demos!

I find that annoying, the ps3 is more like a pc in that respect, demos take a few minutes to install, gt5 was about 10min.........atleast the 360 you can just start the game straight away. But I guess it has its advantages for heavy games.

Firmware (v.2.30) Details and Store Walkthrough

Its very similar to Singstar.

I have more good news to report today – the system software update will also add DTS-HD Master Audio output for Blu-ray videos, which means the high-definition visuals of Blu-ray will now be matched with the highest quality audio for the ultimate movie-watching experience on PS3.

SCEE announces next PSN Store update, including MGO beta [UPDATE]

SCEE has confirmed that the PSN Store redesign will be going live on April 15th. It has also been revealed that the European Store won't get updated until Thursday the 17th, but it should be worth the wait. A list of upcoming content was included in the press release, including the Metal Gear Online beta. From the looks of things, it'll be an open beta for anyone who wants to take part, unlike in the US or Japan where beta keys were handed out with Metal Gear Solid 4 preorders. Here's what we can expect to see next Thursday:

* Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta
* Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror expansion
* Lair "Diabolical Dragons" pack
* Lair "Skyguard Upgrade" pack
* "A collection of trailers including the latest for GTA IV"
* Sega Superstar Tennis demo

Looks like that "special update" we were promised was pointing towards the MGO beta. Nice to see Europe not getting shafted in the end -- in fact, they get the best deal. A seemingly open beta. We're not sure whether the content listed above is exhaustive, but assume for now that it is. We'll let you know if we find out otherwise.

[UPDATE] Konami has confirmed that the beta will be completely open and will last between April 21st and May 6th. After May 6th the beta client will be removed from the PSN Store.

British Retailer Confirms GTAIV Bundle

smallish_gtabundle.jpg

Just in case you don't trust those shifty, foreign types from the continent, British store Shopto have confirmed to Gamesindustry that they'll be selling a Grand Theft Auto IV hardware bundle, consisting of a 40GB PS3, Sixaxis and a copy of GTAIV. It'll be available on April 29, and will set you back £299 .

We get an open beta whilst the Americans had to scramble and pre order :LOL:

Well, I will get the PS3 by the end of may, but something I have been wondering about. Games that are released on both the PS3 & the 360 are not always the same is my impressions. Like many people say that Fifa 08 looks and plays better on the 360 and a game like Assasins Creed looks better on the 360 + if you add X-Box live into the mix the PS3 starts to look poor..It will be good for the PS3 to get games like MGS 4 though.
Another thing that I find weird is that if you look at most games on the 360 they show on the cower that it supports up to 1080p while the same games on the PS3 shows only 720p support..Why is that I wonder :THINK:

Ps: Can you without problem change the 40GB with something like this without getting problem with the warenty?

i think its the problem of which platform is lead platform and the problems some devs have with porting games.

changing your HDD doesn't void your warranty. why else would they have it out in the open like that. ;)

So you buy some games on 360 and some on PS3!

Burnout is better on PS3...also wait until June you should be able to get either a 40gb with Dual Shock 3 or 80gb with Dual Shock 3

MGS4 will gurantee that!

Also the 360 games in 1080p are upscaled to 1080p hardly any are native 1080p and 60fps. 720p is fine for both. GT5P is 1080p native (i think).

Supporting 1080p is one thing and its great but when its not native 720p still looks better.

Thanx for the help Dead Man:)) I am getting a new tv(sony 46"X3500) by the end of may and thought about getting a PS3 cause of Blu-Ray. So the plan was to get the 40GB now and replace the 40GB with a 500gb HD and then get Metal Gear on release day as no one in Norway seem to know anything about the 80GB bundle pack with MGS4:tumble: There is no release date for the Dual Shock 3 either.. Patience is something I dont got so I think I will get the 40GB now with a game and then change the HD and get MGS4 and Dual Shock 3 when released. Sounds good or just stupid..:THINK:

Naruto looks nice but i thought they should be releasing a game based on season 2 instead. You know when he's older.
