Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Anyway there is no way konami would allow you to see the finished product this early before release.(do you think?)That's why i think those screens were just work in progress and to try and zoom in and judge it like that is just the pure Muppetism!:P

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Urban, if PES gets back to the way it was then I'm sure people will overlook the little flaws because you'd be so happy with it, any little addition becomes fantastic news, that's how it used to be of course. I remember hearing you could select a free kick taker straight from the menu, there would be three page discussions on just that! They just need to get the basics back on track - so come on, forget the admittedly great faces for one second - passing, shooting, crossing are the building blocks of the game, it's what you spend most of the time doing so if they aren't improved then we are back to square one, would you agree?

I do see some strong hints in that video that the physics are improved, the back spin on the chip pass towards the end and the cross which whips past the goal look really promising, but for me the pinball passing problem is still there. You're PES2170 jibe or whatever it was isn't really that funny, because I'm not even suggesting they need to have full manual passing or anything but just make it like the old PES games, at least have the odd pass bobble or something, or a pass that the player has to react differently to trap, so it doesn't look like a golf ball rolling along a marble kitchen surface.

The first time passes that accelerate at 200mph really annoy me as well, it can totally ruin the realism, look at any football match - when a player receives a pass that's moving towards them quickly they will usually perform a cushioned lay-off to take some of the speed off the ball and find a team mate, then quickly make a run to create space. In PES they just stand there, instantly pass the ball as soon as you press X which then speeds off in the other direction with no adherence to basic physics or reduced accuracy.

I know this is partly down to the control system but it was never that bad in PES or PES6 which I'm currently playing a fair bit of and in fact, PES has had pressure sensitive passing for ages so they could easily implement different speeds of first time passes - so if you tap X then you lay it off to the nearest team mate (very accurate) or if holding X for longer the player will do a different animation and try a longer, more difficult pass (less accurate). I reckon that would make such a huge difference to the realism of the game and make it less arcadey.

My opinion would be, look at recent times, look at games in general, this close to release there will not be any big gameplay developments. This is a recent video, they are showing Messi motion-capture in the Messi close-up (I would imagine), which means it is a fairly advanced build, it's unlikely that it will change too much between this video and the final product.

I agree though, it's not a good enough video to judge the game on and is clearly not reflective of the real speed of the game, so I'm reserving judgement for now.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Faaark some people cant be pleased.

Optimist: ''guys untucked shirts are back''

Pessimist: ''you can't see it during gameplay''

O: ''The sandbags are gone''

P: ''The net animations must improve''

O: ''The grass looks improved in lighting and textures''

P: ''The grass looks like PES4,5 and 6''

Yeah, it's a shame but it works this way for Pes :(

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It works that way for FIFA as well and in many ways people are more demanding because they actually listen to what the community wants.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Player faces are awsome, can not wait to see more

THIS is a good gameplay pic for me

I doubt the gameplay shown in the video is representative of the finished product and as Dr Force said is probably just a testing code used in developing the new tactics system (they were speaking to the tactics guy after all). I certainly wouldn't take too much from this seeing as WENB, PMS3 and others have not mentioned that the speed of the game was this fast.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The grass looks wicked on that gameplay pic. Only bad thing is the baywatch animations but I guess we have to hope to high heaven that the mo-cap will sort that :p

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

damn i can actually spot untucked shirts in that gameplay pic :p

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I played some Football kingdom on a PS2 emulator today (at 18-ish FPS. It has been discussed alot in the past, but I was really impressed despite the slow gameplay and choppy performance.

Some screenshots:

And the obligatory video: YouTube - Football kingdom Highlight[03]

This view owns anything PES or FIFA have done till today, on Next-Gen. And this is from a fairly old PS2 game.

Closeup graphics are shit obviously, but the general appearance is absolutely stunning, and is so realistic that it should be what the other games should be aiming for. This looks like the view from a real TV camera, check the pitch textures, the shadows from players, overall colors. Nothing strikes me as CGI except for the graphics like icons and such. Check the net shape and such, that's how it should look. After seeing this I don't see how anyone could like the PES nets with the stretched our corners and the sagging middle section.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Great music on that video lol. Football Kingdom nets will NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER be beaten.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The goals look amazing in that video. And not just because of the nets. The look and feel of the shooting animations and the way the ball travels just feels right.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Football Kingdom done a lot of things right. This is even more apparent due to it being the first football game developed by Namco. The nets are PERFECT and the camera angle is brilliant. Plus it had 360 degree movement!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Oh my god. I just want to cry now. Everytime when I was saying about the nets, almost everybody on this web said: not important, who cares and such as things. Thanks for the attention guys! Believe me, nets are not the most important key thing in a football game (gameplay!!!!!!!!!), but it is so nice to score a goal like in a real football match in for example santiago bernabeau and to see the net moving like it does on tv.

Sorry =) I've had to say this...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I still have this game because it's a pure "classic" of a genius on the freedom you have of your player. The nets animation are simply breathtaking. The game is a lot of fun and did some things right to near perfection that NO other futbol sim up to this day has accomplished.

Live on Football Kingdom!!!!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

are you on crack this game has no flair, typical japanese arcadish take on football...but it doesn't look like football to me, 3 patterns for goal, pinball style gameplay

the only thing in it I'd really want in future PES is curling passes, ball is not glued to the player - that's cool. Oh and nets of course lol

but comparing this to likes of PES 5 and saying it's better? nah, you must be drunk

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Call me optimist if you want but I really see a big improvement in the animations. The faces look really impressive too but we can't see them while we play so that's not that important, just a "bonus" if you want to show how good the player's faces are to your friends in the replay mode xD

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

All the action and goals are pretty much identical, and all the teams play like current Barcelona lol.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

yes only1ronaldo, the game overall seems to play like crap and a million years behing the best ps2 PESs, but were just referencing specific cool elements of it.
