Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Look at the animation at 3:47-3:49
Germany player avoids realistically England player.

Really,really good!!

And in this same part the running animation of the other player is amazing.

What's so special about this video? I've seen it.

Underwhelming. You guys need to calm down before putting everybody counting on something good.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

why konami dont have the licence of all the teams from europa league??? its a shame !!!! teams like steaua bucuresti .....?!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

is ther any chance of the top four been in the game this year for real, been around quite a few dogy forums and they say quite a mojority of the english premier league is liscenced, i know it seems unrelistic to think this is gana be slightly true but to add something of me thinking this may be possible is that everthing on wikipida for this game so far has been true and they say it might be and the fact pes has been quite on teeling us what teams they have in the game as normaly this time of year they have already said what teams are in and arnt in. This would realy put the icing on the cake for me, i wouldnt go back to work if this game is gana be as good as i think it is going to be.

can't you seen a difference on the background a previous videos of PES10? I can see and I'm very happy that KONAMI made one a small step in the forward.

Hmm what about licence for teams.
When I was playing in PES on PC (it was PES6) I didin't worry about licence because I knew that I can do it in few seconds that I need to paste only one file with all things which I needed. When I am playing on x360 now no licence's causes that I don't wanna playing in this game because if I must to play a teams like FC Buruguruge and I must to thinking what is a real name of this time - that's shit!
I must to draw joy of wild game like f.e I'm drawing joy when I am inserting FIFA 09 to DVDrom OF X360.
We will see what will be with PES10. I cam't wait for FIFA 10 NG DEMO VERSION!:)

..and for PES because you know.. it's a fucking habit! :WORSHIP:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

@ Anderson - thanks for the HD video on youtube and the link to vimeo.

I've just watched the full-screen vimeo link and it looks more impressive than all the videos before now. I like the pace of the game and it moves very smoothly. I'm still not blown away by the animations. Hopefully these will be improved upon further before release.

But overall PES2010 is looking promising and more like a return to form.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't see what's so good about that video - yes we can see 360 movement and a slower pace but to me the actual game and animations still seem inferior to PES5...

That's because you still leave on the past, which won't return no matter what. Your sign says it.

The Europa League licence doesn't involve licensing for all the teams participating in this tournament.
The EL licence is just an argument useful in negociations with some teams/leagues.
But licensing isn't that easy, there may be financial constraints and of course legal ones. Anyway I think it's more important to have a team in the game, even unlicensed, than not at all.

I really don't think they could get Chelsea and Arsenal licensed this year.
But it's never been clarified why, there may be a kind of agreement with the PL about this, anyway there have never been more than two english teams fully licensed in a PES game, I really don't see why it would be different this year (PL remains exclusive to EA, maybe only two teams are allowed to sell their licence to an other video game company).

No I don't, just because a game is newer it doesn't mean it's better than an older version...
My sig says what it says because PES seems to have died after PES6, with the awful 08 and 09... I'd love it to come back better than ever...

Apart from 360 degree dribbling, I can't think of a gameplay feature in PES 2010 which is an improvement on PES5, or even PES6...

Its not habit, its an addiction for some.

Your Xbox 360 can be patched via option file for PES 2010, my Xbox 360 PES 2009 is fully patched. Real kits, Faces, Badges etc, you just need a data cable. Dont worry, it's possible.

For anderson, trust me, not everyone would have bothered taking the time, your a hardcore true PES fan, and I for one love that and the fact your here. It's been a lonely place of late but the mood and atmosphere is definatley more upbeat. Even from the old PES fans who now prefer Fifa because of how far Fifa has progressed to be a truly excellent game.

But some of us can only seem to get satisfaction from PES, and I think your one of the crazy few, me, Zee, Junka, Buzzy to name just a few.

Hopefully PES 2010 can win back all the other people who mostly joined this site for two reasons, but one common denominator, PES/WE and the magic created by Kon-am-i.

Is it me or did that last two paragraphs sound like a rhyme ?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think you must be speaking metaphorically.
Although the animations are much improved from PES 09, they are still not very smooth - maybe saying that PES5's were superior was a bit harsh, they seem about the same, if they are better it's not by much...

If Konami sort out the online servers though, this could still be a great game online, especially with online CL and co-op tourneys.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Apart from 360 degree dribbling, I can't think of a gameplay feature in PES 2010 which is an improvement on PES5, or even PES6...

PES 2009 - Better features - Gameplay not animations.

Shooting for one is harder, more complex, just better, less arcadey, wonder goals happen alot less and when they do, they are deserved and feel more realistic due to them happening less. The shooting is effected now by so many variables, pressured, wrong foot, wrong body shape, not out of your feet enough to generate power and accuracy, timing etc. I know personally why the shot missed, from what I did wrong, especially with world class players that would be hitting the target if I had got most of the aformentioned correct.

Passing - Massive for me this. This could put alot of people off, I loved it, I just had to learn it. Body angle, stance, body balance, preferred foot, stats are all taken into account now. In PES 5+6 it was far too easy. I compared them recently and I loved PES 6, it felt awful after mastering 2009. Every pass regardless of body angle or postion facing went to your player pretty much. Lofted through balls found players more even if the pass wasnt really on, the CPU made it on by poor defending ai.

There are mis-directed passes in 2009 that pisses you off, but if you wait for the openings, keep possesion, keep it simple with lesser players, even though the animations suck, you can play football beautifully. Patience is everything, as is keeping possesion and more than anything giving your players the best chance to make the pass complete.

The mis-directed passes are very frustrating but I'm hoping that this is just a transitional phase by Konami as its the exact opposite direction of the pathetic PES 2008.

Looking at that last video you still need to do the above. I just hope the horrible mis-directed passes that can happen are gone with the evolution of 2010. Just a shame the sprint glitch fucked up 2009 badly.

I played over 1000 hours of Bal + ML and never seen so many jawdropping moments that only extensive play brings.

Graphics, commentary, Bal are just a few additions that are better Rob. PES 2010 looks to improve on all of that and rectify the faults.

Offline for me best PES yet. Never played PES so much and I am a fussy fucker. Online sucks at times due to the pathetic at times ai, and the glitches, lag etc.

Konami cant match Ea's animations Rob, but PES needs quick response times, it's core to the game and concept.

Just my opinion.

That's how I feel. Yes, the animations look better than last year, but last year's were terrible so that's no big achievement. Now they look as they should two years ago. Konami should be further along the line in this department.

Looking at the video The Knight just posted, and from playing PES5 a couple of months back, I have to agree that the animations in PES2010 still haven't surpassed that of last-gen PES.

I really do wish I could enjoy PES 09 as much as you do.

I don't see what you see in the passing and the shooting, it just seemed very scripted, add to that the whole feel of dribbling is wrong to me (especially that 90 degree turn with skilled players) and it just results in a game which got played for a couple of weeks, got uninstalled and I havn't even considered playing it again.

I'm glad some people (like you) have managed to get enjoyment out of the game though.

I know Konami will probably never match EA in terms of animations, but come on... PES is the only game I know where the animations are not far superior to those on the last generation.

This isn't having a go or anything, but please just stop saying stuff like "proper footballers like me will prefer PES, i'm paid to play football etc...", ok? It's pretty much an indirect insult to people who actually like FIFA, as if to say they don't know much about football...

Looks much better than PES 09 I'll give it that, The graphics are just amazing (look at close up of Rooney at 7:50) and the animations look a lot better than the Gamescom build. Seems like you have to pass your way through which is good. I think it seems a solid 7.5/10 game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Youtube's just finished processing the HD.

YouTube - PES 2010 Gameplay - Press preview code

Still think Vimeo is better :P

Said in the video:

- Playing with d-pad feels awkward/stiff compared to analog stick.
- 360 movement is there, but not so noticeable.
- AI defencive positioning is pretty much better than in 2009
- Still easiest to attack through wings.
- Freekicks and crowd noices pretty much the same as always.
- Not all the final animations are in this version.
- "No wonder England don't play well, they have Heskey up front." :P

Fair comment and point taken Rob. I have sounded like an arrogant prick but I wont lie down and take the insults as if I'm some 15 kid who doesnt know the game. I went about it the wrong way. Wind up merchants sometimes get the better of me when they state things I know isnt correct from a physics perspective. I know Fifa is an awesome game in its own right. Different concept though and I know I couldnt be happy with the lack of individualism that for me makes football, as well as the physics in alot of areas that I can feel is correct from all my years in the game. I'm not saying Fifa players dont know football, they just prefer a different concept to me, and thats cool.

Oh I know what you mean about twats who throw insults at you, saying you don't know anything - i've replied to them in the past on here (and other forums) and made myself seem like a bit of a dick, it's understandable how you can get annoyed with some people on forums with how stupid they can be! Every forum has them, just have to put up with them I suppose...

I completely agree about individuality, that's why no matter how good FIFA gets in terms of animations, physics and modes, it will never truly be able to call itself a true simulation while Gerrard and Kevin Kyle (a really crap former-Coventry player, now back in the Scotland squad!) have exactly the same positioning if you put them in an attacking midfield role. Likewise for anyone you put in their wrong position.

The positioning and off-the-ball runs of the players are just as important as their actual technique on the ball in terms of individuality - remember that special ability star thing, called "Lines" iirc, Solskjaer had it, he would hardly ever be caught offside and timed his runs really well, like he did in real life.
Target men would have the "Post player" star, they would be in the right position more often than not for a cross to come into the box and would hold up the ball well.
Michael Owen would have the "Scoring" and "1-on-1 Scoring" abilities, making him deadly in the box and feel like the instinctive finisher he was.
Gerrard would have "Playmaking", meaning teammates would move more off the ball when he had the ball, Beckham had "Passing" which made teammates have a better first touch when they recieved a pass from him (I think).

I could go on... all of those special abilities really helped make the players individual, and a team of the players with the best attributes wasn't always the best, if you got a team where the special abilities of the players complimented each other well, you could play great football...

I do love FIFA for what it's trying to do though, and as an online game I think manual controls give a fairer game and help you express yourself, in Clubs this wouldn't really take away individualism as you are yourself (in 10)! :P

If I had to choose between the two games (pretend the PES i'm mentioning is as good as PES5) on each of these modes and give a reason, i'd say:
Offline v CPU - PES, because every AI controlled player on FIFA plays the same way and crap players do superhuman things, shame the ML hasn't been very good but that could change this year.
Offline BAP/BAL - FIFA, manual controls again make you feel like you can express yourself and be the player, PES' BAL mode is far better though off the pitch.
Offline multiplayer with friends - tough decision, PES would edge it due to the more varied types of goals you can score and most of my mates not playing on manual.
Online 1v1 multiplayer against random people - Easily PES, I had some great games against people I didn't know in the past and FIFA against randoms makes me want to tear my hair out.
Online multiplayer with/against people I know - Mainly manual FIFA, but PES is still a fun alternative and co-op tournaments could be fantastic.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

There's something weird about the way players carry the ball. It looks like the ball is in a force field, and it looks like they are running without moving. They're probably still tweaking the animations, some are looking good while others are looking really off.

That you're right. It does seem a bit like that. Maybe due to the lack of foot planting, so the distance covered is not necessarily related to the way their run...
