PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Perhaps it's an old article then - shouldn't be though because it's in the RSS feed from this evening. I notice they don't say which team Owen is playing for at the time of the interview, maybe they do during the interview...

First 30 seconds of the audio clip says PES 2008 and says he's at Newcastle United.

He sounds like Chris does in your podcasts.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It might sound a bit weird but the long shots in PES were one of the elements that grabbed me by the goolies and really struck a chord with me.
Can't agree more. Long rangers in PES6 were yes a little too easy, but they were a hell of satisfying!!

I wish the Dreamcast was still about with that Virtua Striker game. Even though it was an arcade game it had a few pretty nifty features; long shots were groovetastic and there was even a rating system in place to judge your goals (goals over 500 points got a rainbow trail!)
Oh, those were the days!! I remember VS2 having its bugs (in the 1998 version you could score exactly like you described for FIFA: get the position, charge, and watch the ball always hitting the post and going in with the keeper not reaching it) but it also had some very nie features.. Long shots were really fantastic and with a little bit of practice you could really score some great goals. Goalies also used to have wonderful animations (well, they used to react too late to the shots, but at least they looked credible while trying to save).

Personally I disagree with the fun = arcade, simulation = unggg idea. PES5/6 was able to mix them both so I'm going to sit here and wait for my cake to arrive so I can eat it
Again, can't agree more. I always said VS2 was a great game even if it was arcade at its best, and I'm not changing idea. But you have a point here. PES6 was a mix of both (yes, the long shots looked a little arcadey to me) and it was perfect.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Tuesday, I thought we would not get anything new untill games-com, or am I missing something...
Some people ( Caniggia ) do a playtest on tuesday, so I think people expect news from that, but I think the playtesters will be under NDA.
I don't expect news at tuesday.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Erik over at Level7 will be playing the game on thursday (
originally Tuesday but it was changed due to that it was "something wrong with the game code" or something like that.

According to him, he will be able to write about his experiences with the game.

Always thought Erik was Caniggia for some reason...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Good news then

Ahh translated off Caniggia's site:

I sit on the bus on the way to Stockholm. Just when I moved on and the bus went off I checked my e-mail. Konami had sent an email saying that the version they had contained not worked and that a new version would come in on Thursday. Damn, I thought and thought about jumping in Jönköping and take the bus home again. Internet stopped working also on the bus so I just sat there and philosopher were what I would do in Stockholm. Suddenly the phone rang. Konami. "We have received the game" Wohoo - Back on.

I took the opportunity to ask some questions. It seemed that all teams were created but that the costumes and the like were not fixed yet. The special news that everyone talked about on WENB become official on Wednesday. Zlatan was in the Barca game and the feeling was "different". Me and Erik at Level7 will brief you imorrgon. Will see if I can make Twitter also with some special goodies.

/ Caniggia

This is sounding good. Caniggia was very critical of both PES 2008 and 2009.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Just posted on WeLovePets:

Animations Are In

Which might seem like an obvious statement for many, that seems to be the reaction from most when they read the 'confirmation' on WENB. But to me it means a whole lot more.

It's one thing saying you're going to do it, but going through with it is something else altogether. The past few years have seen Konami break a lot of promises, to us and media. Remember the continuous claims that PES would work online for example?

The first playtest was full of these promises, and much of our judgement on the experience weighed heavily on what we were told was yet to be implemented. I can't stress how important it is for PES 2010 to move right, and the word right now is it looks a treat. And it's not even the normal movements being redone, its the fact that those subtle ones (player has a look around before receiving a pass etc) are in too. These add to the whole experience, and bring us back to the old days when months down the line you would discover/see something new.

What Konami need to be ready for though is fans being expectant regarding these sort of things, as they're unlikely or applaud Seabass and co for what they do right this year - we've been waiting long enough. More pressure on Konami then, but it seems it will bring out the best in them.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Konami want to keep Manual Pass on Right Analog... and remove Tricks /Fients from D-Pad !! Well then they must return to the ISS3
YouTube - International Superstar Soccer 3 PC - Some Tricks

Trick are whit R2 , L2 + shot , pass , etc. They are so GOOD . Hole game ISS3 is much , much better than next gen version of PES.

Yeah I agree, the ball attached to a boot by a peice of elastic is far superior:YAWN:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I found a website (http://translationparty.com/) that translates from English, to Japanese, back to English over and over until the text finds an equilibrium. In essence, I was looking for what it would be like for the Japanese if they were trying to decipher English news, but it's more a mish mash of jumbled words.

Unfortunately it only takes a few small phrases at a time, but you kind of get the gist of how terrible this would be. Here's what you get when you take a snippet of that Welovepets thing;

"The first playtest was full of these promises, and much of our judgement on the experience weighed heavily on what we were told was yet to be implemented. I can't stress how important it is for PES 2010 to move right, and the word right now is it looks a treat"

Turns into

"Promise of these initial playtest, the experience of our big decisions, I must implement the full pressure. Pes 2010 on exercise of stock options, highlighting the most important and appropriate treatment."

Kind of a miracle the only spelling cock ups we've had in the games is small things like "Shoots" and whatnot.

Everytime I read a translation like that makes me laugh so hard :LMAO:

Good, so we' ll have all the players and teams of the bundesliga even if unlicensed.
It has been officially confirmed? There is no bundes in we j league 2009 club championship and I don' t know if exclusive contract of EA with bundes has expired.
