PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

Hey guys. I have a question. Which match legnth do you prefer in Master League or online? 10 minute as a standard or something else?

I always stick with 20min, -1 speed. This way cpu AI does not rush their build up, I have 12-20 fouls in every game. This means that are enough stoppages for the cpu to make subs, stoppage time in first half is always +1 or +2 and always 90+3 to 90+6. Also with 20mins you will see that cpu makes more tactical changes on the fly because the parameter/algorithm code kicks in. If you're causing constant trouble in the wing for example with Hazard they will call for tight marking. In 10min there is not enough time for these algorithms to kick in.

I use 12 mins on top player in league mode.

It's pretty good, especially if you turn off all the enhanced tactics and use the 'simple tactics' with the default settings.

Playing on speed 0 too.

I find the enhanced tactics pulls your defence all over the place and you get caught several times with a through ball and you can never get anywhere near the player who's broke through.

On simple tactics with no enhanced instructions I find my back-line stays together and moves as one and I rarely see the old cheating through ball ploy by the AI. In fact I find the formation tends to stay as a unit over the whole pitch when you don't use the enhanced instructions.

I simply use the attack/defence levels if I need to defend a lead or come out a bit if I am down and need to go looking for that equaliser or winner.

Been playing a bit more these days and damn! ML is a fu£§ng mess! So disapointed now... Scripting is all over the place. I´m on mid season and playing on Pro, and still all I see is the ping pong CPU pass into the box and BAM, top corner shot, all the f€§#ng time!!!! I just came from a session were I had to repeat the same match for 5 times because of pure nonsense results and unrealistic flow, and it always happened the same old thing. CPU berserk mode kicks in and I can´t do a damn thing to stop it! I can´t even understand the diference between Pro and Top Player anymore... Really guys, very very disapointed with this game at this time. If I could, I would ask for a refund. The way I see it, this is some serious decieving marketing from Konami and it´s enough already.
I´ll leave this on the "ready to install" games on my X for now. Time do play something else...

this did feel different , felt like my team were making decent runs and didn't get caught out by a cheap through ball..nice tip

They are just not investing enough resources into ML and the other single player modes. The ai programming is just not up to the standards we expect from a pes title anymore.

The stupid thing is the prorgaming is already good as it is. Then on ML they screw everything up with TS and scripting. It´s just unbelievable and frustrating...

Yup. Learnt my lesson from PES 2018 not to touch 2019 cos of this.

Is the "live update ON" in exhibition not working since yesterday?
On online friendly, is the team form "letters" not showing up anymore?
I'm on PC, so maybe it's just a PC issue and not in console.

The worst are the matches after your coach gives you a mission (win first game, win against rival, finish 9th etc). You’ve probably hit one of those. They are like boss fights. I now mostly skip them because they are just a waste of time in the way Konami celebrates their own scripting.

The second worst are the matches where a really shitty team, that’s 14 places down from your’s in the standings, visits your home ground and plays on red attack level from kick off and they still have to cheat to score.

I am through a Championship season with QPR now, came in first and got delegated to EPL. It was fun for the most part, but currenyltly I have no motivation to continue because I already know it’s gonna be more or less the same story all over again.

Tap R1 on first time touch with 36 technique Valney in PES 6 and the ball with bounce 4 yards off his feet. Do the same with a lower base stat player in 2019 and he will slide his feet and get it in instant control .

On PES 5 I always trap the ball holding R2, otherwise I would lose possesion easily. Thats what make those game harder to play. You had to play cautiously. It was not about some frenetic script or something.

So, is that it? PES 2019 still have scripting, pin pon passes and "cheating", only with better graphics, physics and more fouls?

Edit: Well nevermind. My wife bought it for me today. Even I telling her not to do it.:II

Playing master league as Liverpool full manual,I have tried setting up my formation and strategys as close as possible to the way Liverpool actually try and play,I Play with fluid formation on like this:

IMG_2551.JPG IMG_2552.JPG

Like Liverpool do, I play with a high defensive line, this helps keeping it compact in midfield no big gaps in between the defence and midfield, playing fluid formation also helps keep my three forwards compact and close to the midfield,
instead of playing on superstar l started with regular because when playing superstar I find myself playing how the AI want me to play, always trying to ping pong the ball around with quick
1'2s and always feeling like your on the counter attack at 100mph,
It just becomes repetitive and boring, also with every team playing the same, mirroring you with quick ping pong passing counter attacks back and forth back and forth,so I tried working my way up The difficulties and found that even on regular difficulty the AI still defend well making you work the ball around to create opportunities,
but don't attack your defenders with any real porous, they were still a threat because of my high line and my attacking full backs always trying to support in attack
and leaving my two CB's and DMF vulnerable at the back, witch keeps you on your toes all the time even on regular difficulty,it works ok until you get annoyed with the AI forwards running right into you at times
But still managing to score on some occasions,at the minute I'm trying to find a sweet spot between professional and top player, but having fun passing the pall around how I want, at my pace, talking of pace I play on -1
Which for me is perfect, feels like it slows the AI down a little also adds a little bit more realism to the game,I won't go any higher on the difficulty because that's when the scripting kicks in,
and that's when I see all the games flaws come to life and all the realism goes out the window.
I see a lot of people on here talking about there experiences playing full manual so though I would tell you mine,
also to tell the ones that Are getting board or need a new challenge to come and give playing in a team of full manual players that play for each other in a proper full manual 10vs10 online league where everything is arranged, from organising friendlys to official matches, all you have to do is show up,I can't express how good it is playing in a full manual team with like minded people,I've never felt one bit of script playing in this mode, it's the most realistic football sim I've played to date and Ive played every game from Fifa pro clubs to match of the day on the spectrum, yes I'm that old.why not give it a go if that's your thing,I promise you would love it,master league is great when it plays well, but nothing compares to playing with like minded full manual players for a proper team in a well run organisation,
you can win great prizes too.
whenever we can we train and play against a lot of the teams from the league.most of the teams are very organised and play a very high level of fooball,
We're not too bad our selves,
We're currently sitting in 5th in the league, but we just played wap Pheonix in our official match and gave them there first defeat 2-1 which was a very intense game,so we're probably up to 4th maybe when they update the league standings,up until that point they hadn't even conceded a goal,if interested contact me on

I play the demo for 20mins; speed -1.

2.5 mins 1st half.
Take a dump for 10mins.
Return for remaining 2nd half.
5 mins to wash my hands and face after playing PES.

Can anyone understand what KONAMI means here with the #1 issue. My english are not so good, maybe better than KONAMI's :P :P , but although my team has more than 10+ loans and i can train everybody normally. Also it is so fun to see such warnings like "DO NOT LOAN PLAYERS UNTIL NEXT UPDATE" . It is like the Multinational Corporation KONAMI is a fan-made amateurish emulator development team! :P :P

Played about ten matches yesterday and here is my two cents on this; the game plays pretty much as the demo, even worst I might add. CPU AI attacks the same limited way as the demo. Way too direct, way more direct than 2018. Its like every team plays on counter. Dont see a single long range attempt by the the CPU. This is still the worst CPU AI I see in years.

Passing is easier. On demo you miss blind angles and first touch passes with some frequency. With this latest patch, its a ping pong fest with any player and the passes are faster. On the demo was ok.

Footplanting is ugly and animations is choppy. Way better and smoother on PES2018.

Well imho, the only thing this game are better than PES 2018 is on fouls and graphics and thats it. If you are a offline player like me, stick with the othe game or PES 2018 or 17 or any other. Single player is shallow like on demo.

Its a shame that now, to us PES fans, its down to fouls. The game have foul so its a better game....(?) c'mon man....

20 Min of course, everything below that is to rushed, plus it gives realistic stats

Might take @g2bam 's advice and go for simple tactics ,even set my opponents to that to on a fresh ML.

Has anyone tried that in recent years in ML?
Would be a good idea if it keeps the lines better and maybe keep the Cpu a bit less frantic

20 Min of course.......... maybe keep the Cpu a bit less frantic

i'm going to experiment with this in 2018....never played above 12min in general. will try simple settings too

.....lol...first game on top player.... conceded 2 goals and aldereweld got 2 yellows all in the first 20mins ...switched off. ill try professional tomorrow.

I'm gonna try a fresh ML tmw.
Right now I get super aggressive just thinking of playing ML or career mode,Pes or Fifa

Completely agree. I gave PES19 a good chance over the 2-3 months since release but am firmly back with PES18 again simply because the AI is so much better. As I play fixed cursor mode (ie. player manager), the AI is all the more important to me.

I'll try any future patches for 19 but am satisfied that I'm not missing out on anything by sticking to 18. All 19 has done is basically nerf a bunch of thing to make it "more difficult" but all it achieves is nerfing the variety and realism, as you end up scoring, and see the cpu score, the same 2 or 3 goals repeatedly by every team. And stats have never meant so little in PES.

Incidentally, the one other thing where 19 is better is they fixed a particular issue with crossing. This is where in 18, the AI (both human and cpu AI) far too often won't attempt a first time cross but instead nearly always cuts back inside at the bye-line and crosses an in-swinger, and too often the receiving header of the ball doesn't shoot from the header (even at open goal sometimes) and instead passes out from goal, sometimes passing it to way outside the box. That's the one thing I wish they would patch into 18.

Oh, I'll also add that I think 19 has toned down a little the stringing together of first-time pixel-perfect laser-guided back-heels. They're still there in 19, particularly in the box (and indeed are the source of the AI's most common goal) , but perhaps not as bad as in 18 in midfield areas.

I know the perception of a soccer game is down to individual preference in large parts, but i am very surprised to read this.

1) AI attacks: This part made me wonder the most. In PES2018 all teams had exactly on standard way of attacking - lng balls to th wings, which could only be avoided by extreme player switching. PES2017 apparently didn´t have an AI at all, it was barely possible to lose a game on superstar level thanks to the opponent strikers simply running into your defence like headless chickens. PES2019 may not be a wonder, but to me it is worlds above the last two PES games.

2) Passing speed seems to be untouched from the demo, but maybe this is down to me playing full manual. It was way faster in PES2018 and laughable fast in PES2017.

3) Regarding animations PES2018 set a new mark for ingame soccer movement, but to me PES2019 maxed out fluidity and animation transitions even more. Playing on -2 speed.

Just discovered pressing sprint and R3 button and direction flicks the ball away. How did I not know this , unbelievable for bearing a defender and creating space

r3 is pressing analogue down? so its press down and direct at same time?

i do it by accident sometimes, never really seen much benefit

unlike on pes 13 when you could shift it diagonally left and right if you mapped it beforehand, used to help me alot.

If I've got my back a defender and ball is coming towards me..i press up ,sprint and r3 and it flicks the ball to the side about 3 yards in front so you can turn the defender

R3 is handy enough tool to use.
Either to flick a ball behind you or to pass the defender flicking the ball diagonally.
You can also use it on a high ball into penalty box instead of instant header, without any direction. Player will take a ball on his chest so you can have a nice volley when ball is dropping.
