PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

You know what I really miss?? Fair play rules and plays from previous Pes games.
Especially now with improved physicality and a lot of player clashes.
That one game I had last night, where it was a slaughterhouse, few times my players were absolutely destroyed by COM and were lying there for a good while rolling around like Neymar... and nothing...
Id like to see AI kicking the ball out like they used to. That was a great feature!

Edit:
Im actually gonna tweet it to them.
Most likely it will be
"Thank you, we will pass it over to our development team to consider."
Yeah, whatever..
But no harm in trying, haha!

Yep, it was. I remember that sometimes I was so furious about being behind in a match, that if a CPU player would injury himself, I wouldn´t throw the ball away like they used to do for me ahahaha. So much for my fair play...
Hahahaha! I was always too much of a softie!
Loosing, absolutely raging, then my player was getting injured, COM kicked the ball out, I was throwing to my player and then there was always this moment, where I was considering just playing along, but at the end I was kicking the ball back onto their half whispering "fuck sake!!!" through my teeth...

About CL games at daylight:

I´ve read somewhere (probably on here in one of the edit threads) that it only happens when you enter the stadiums menu before starting a match.
If you don´t do so, matches are at night. That statement was made by a few users on here.

I can´t test it yet in my ML, as I am in premier league for the first time and not qualified for the CL.
But I guess I´m safe, as I never enter the stadiums menu...at least not in ML mode.

No doubt about, that this has to be fixed.

Yes this is true, thank you!

Only downer is that you can't edit weather type...

Has there been any word yet about the inclusion of Celtic Park and Ibrox stadiums and face scans of said Celtic and Rangers teams?

Or have we all been conned again and will get these sometime in March 19 or not at all?

@rockstrongo used to say Top Player gives you much better manual passes as apparently manual passes are bit handicaped on Prof to level up chances.
I dont honestly know how much truth is in it.
I used to play Manual on Top Player before the patch but low crosses were killing me.
After patch i switched to Superstar and pass assist 1 and had fun for a while, now im back to manual but i also dropped to profesional. If I see that im doing well on profesional ill bump it up to Top Player as I didnt test it after patch.
Sorry for late answer lads, yes I think TP is a good and fair level, even though SS is better,it's tough as hell
I always feel that my sharp players gets dumbed down on professional, that's why I don't play that difficulty, but apart from that,it's a good and balanced difficulty otherwise.
I haven't played in weeks, but I loved how the cpu plays Vs you on TP/SS

i tell you what folks.

i thought i was going to join the pes party when the game went free to play.

this freebie trial theyve given on xb.....i havent touched bar logging in once to complete the myclub intro.

haven't played fifa this week either.

the realisation of FUT and MyClub being temporary modes where your rewards are only there for as long as servers are on is truly here.

Have they patched this since the big update? Ive been playing red Dead and I've just come back to it and it doesn't feel the same at all.

The player switching is so fucking slow its infuriating and the cpu randomness seems to have vanished. Also you still can't outrun the cpu! Oh and now the cpu stutter in the middle of the park sometimes when tracking back.

I believe there is scripting, specially in ML.
The first time I realized it, was on PES 2010 and it followed with every next release.

It was so noticeable, because AI pulled off combinations where I absolutely literally couldn´t do nothing to prevent them to score...no matter what.
Ping pong passing, goal hits the net.
Sometimes with strange behaviour from my defenders, like stumbling over the ball, walking slowly behind the ball which is rolling over the sideline - even I am hammering R1 - which leads to a corner for AI and scores, etc.

I would quit and replay those matches and with the 3rd or 4th time, the outcome was finally different.
Scripting is dynamic...means...in some matches it´s quite extreme and in some it´s not.

However...here in PES 2019 I haven´t noticed it that extreme yet.
I play on professional/regular, full manual, speed -1.
All the goals I have conceded have been comprehensable so far.

Except for the COM challenges in myclub where some matches automatically are set on top player or superstar.
Those matches have been awful. I never touch those difficulties...full manual and professional is challenge enough for me.
In PES 2017 and 2018 I had a few awkward ML games on professional too, but not that many.
This year though, I can´t really remember that I had one of these.

But maybe they are coming when I made it to the EL/CL tournament.
I hope not.
I think the scripting is insane to be honest. The amount of OBVIOUS scripting really hurts the games. Lost count of the amount of games the CPU has scored with their first attack....usually from a cross. Or if I am up by a couple with ten mins left, the CPU will score a ridiculous goal (either a ping pong fest or an issue with my own defenders where they will decide to run the wrong way, or the ball will bounce off them for no apparent reason). It is terribly frustrating and ruins the feeling sometimes.

I'm still getting annoyed at the CPU and their Swarm The Box defensive strategy. All low level teams play this way. It eliminates the midfield and turns it into a big open space but makes it difficult to carve anything out chance wise. They then have ridiculous success on the counter due to their target man (Who always wins the first ball) playing 1-2's and running in behind. Often, to ensure that the CPU get to the through ball, the running direction of the user controlled defenders gets overwritten by the AI so then you have to course correct your run. Usually the AI changing your running direction is enough of an hindrance to stop you from being able to get back and make the tackle.

Anyway, I'm still enjoying it other than that.

Just turned it off in disgust. Played 8 exhibition games lost all of them apart from a draw scored 1 goal.

Cpu was just playing around me, couldn't switch in time. they also scored some ridiculous back heel goals and every rebound was falling to them.

garbage.

I miss posting my master league stories so sorry to have to bore you all here with my online division adventures but managed to get promoted to division 8 with a win in my last game of the season with wales. I mean who cares if my opponent wasn't in ckbtrol of his team for the whole first half, they all count!

Is there a reason that every pitch has vertical lines as a turf texture when using wide cam. Has anybody else noticed that when in replays or during goal kicks, the patterns switch depending on viewing angle.

Btw how is it that AI teams have insane ability to keep picking up runs and execute perfect passes at all times when any of my defenders leave even half a meter of space for any of the attackers. It is super tiring trying to keep my defenders close enough for those passes not to succeed no matter the quality of the opposition, because my defensive AI teammates are extremely stupid unless I control where they stand at all times, and because I can at most position one or two of my own defenders it becomes a chore to defend just due to the sheer accuracy and potency of the passes and the shots from the AI. The game is still good but this is an issue that has been present on the higher difficulties for a long long time. I can kind of accept if KdB picks out one amazing pass here and there, but to have somebody rated in the 70s perform the same accurate and lethal passes completely sucks out the fun.

I hate to bring attention to scripting, but it is definitely present in this game. Especially in Champions League matches, derby matches and late match situations against any random decent CPU team. It is a two fold problem because not only is the AI suddenly godly with quick rapid passes and accurate shots, but my defenders and midfielders decide not to follow players or position themselves in natural spots towards the end of the game.

It is strange to say, that even with the multitude of problems in regards to AI, scripting, localization, lack of turf options, underwhelming turf textures etc, etc.

There still is a decent football game here, yet it just feels like I am playing the same teams over and over and over again in ML, as they all exhibit very similar patters in regards to shooting and passing. This monotony saps out the joy, and monotony in my own passing and shooting resulting similar end results 99% of the time is bad too. I can not recall the amount of times, a CPU defender will out sprint a fresh neymar, or how often a pass that looked on is just snuffed out by the way the ball decides to spin into the path of the defender. Hope they eventually sort it out.

Well i played this for hours today and never won a single match. The cpu even on professional is super aggressive. i can't beat the cpu keeper with my shots and everything is super accurate from them.

What the hell did it download when i first turned it on and it said it was implementing and downloading contents????

It wasn't like this after the big update 1.05!

There is zero human element to the AI. They don't need to build momentum or pressure, they can flick a switch and walk the ball into the net. There are no desperate long range shots, no extra strikers thrown on, no aerial bombardments, just constant tiki taka waiting to force a one on one, whether winning, losing or drawing and whether playing as a 1 star team or a 5 star team.

I used to laugh at the farcical all out attack system the AI would employ in the last 3/4 games where they'd religiously put a centre back up front in the 67th minute if losing or drawing a knockout tie. Now it's finally gone but I'd take it back just to lose the feeling of playing the same match over and over again.

I've now played a season and a half and have yet to concede a goal from outside the area or a header. The only substitutions the AI makes are programmed straight swaps at certain minutes of the match. Really is shocking in this day and age and can't believe anyone is happy with it. Offline modes are clearly an afterthought at this stage and I can't see them being around much longer.

i'm also fairly sure, that if the AI get a man sent off, say a centre back, they dont even try and plug that gap with a sub or a formation change, they just play on with one CB

Yes the scripting in this is painful at times. It’s like the outcome of the game is decided before kick off.

Previous match, I played away at Rotherham and from minute 1 I couldn’t do anything, even after dropping the difficulty down to Top Player. The commentator said that they had not won a game all season. They beat me 2-1 with a last minute goal. This happens all of the time.

It’s a damn good game this. Just not in Master League - the CPU talks absolute BS. And that’s that mode I play, I hate myclub and I’m not playing online against Barcelona every match for a year.

I am curious. What styles of gameplay do you guys use in the games?
I used to enjoy playing counter attacking football, but since I switched to "possession" based attack, with a reduced support range (1 bar) and 4-3-3, my football has been unbelievably fluid, and a joy to play.

In other words, are you team "possession" or team "counter attack"?

I don’t know why this happens so hard on you, but I can tell I don’t relate on this at all. Matches have been hard, but I do see the teams playing very diferent acording to
the situations. Yes theres the ocasional odd situation, Cpu sometimes does insist on the first time pass first time shoot, but not has often has people are saying here.

Like I said before, Pes is at its best when you play patient football. Even AI reacts differently and they play less tiki taka. Whenever I can im playing possession.
Im only switching to counter attack when I play against much stronger team, or when Im winning and AI is going full attack from around 75th minute.
I also play 4-4-2 in order to have stronger mid field build up and more ballanced defense.

Game 1 of my ML,Vs River Plate in the Argentine Super cup.
And they kept shooting left and right.
So I can't relate to that either

As much as I like the gameplay, the scripting is just insane and deal-breaker.
If I take a top team from a good league and it's existing squad, and still can't go over 68-69 in TS,just ridiculous.

If I had a long term project,bringing up a 2nd division team,I'd accept it,if not just ridiculous!

And scripting effects everything,my manual passing, shooting ,CPU suddenly scoring out of the blue.
15-20 shots a game Vs CPU 3-5 and still lose 2-1/3-1 just because that's the way Konamis games work, suffer a season with retarded players, then you'll enjoy it.
Done!
Playing the other game isn't an option either,so football season over

I’m with you sadly.

Football gaming over for me for another year except for online co-op sessions on the other game.

The scripting is insane in PES this year, in Master League anyway. It’s ruining an otherwise lovely football game.

I’ve tried and tried with it but I’m getting nowhere. Why should I accept that the CPU ‘has to win’ certain games?

It’s absurd.

PES has been uninstalled. And there is no way I’ll be spending hours installing an option file again so for me, it’s a year of the other game. Again.

Come on Konami, step up your game.

Can't deal with Pes scripting, can't deal with the other games bullshit either, even though it's less frustrating it's to much of a shitpile getting shoulder barged off the ball getting fuck all freekicks.
It's back to retro gaming for me.

Gaming football season for me never started and judging by the reactions here this year won't start at all.

I'm more and more convinced that it's time to buy one football game once every few years (when there will be enough improvements that make it worth the full price).

I will follow every year the news and gameplay impressions about the games hoping that there will be the huge jump forward i'm waiting for.

PS4 FUMA players,we are a full manual team, playing in the largest full manual 10v10 online league, there are 20 teams in the league that compete every week against each other, every team try to play football without using any exploits, there is no feeling of momentum or scripting when playing because everyone is full Manual,we ourselves play in a 3,5,2 formation as this allows more outfield players to get involved in our play,we are looking for players that want to play the wing back position,
other positions are available depending on availability,As a team we like to try to defend and attack together,we try to play simple passing football to get everyone involved in the team,we try to train most nights between 20:00 and 23:00,this involves playing friendly games against other teams from the league, this is all arranged before hand during the week by our captains.
we have a WhatsApp group to communicate with each other to see when team members are available to play,we are also looking for centre backs,we have a core of 5 players that's nearly always available to play.
We have 12 players in total,we are looking for players that like the team play elements of pes,We try to keep organised and take it seriously but at the same time have fun,if you would like to know more or have a practice with us please get in contact:on here or

Play the league mode that you will have much more fun.

I really think the game sacrifices play-ability and quick response time for extra frames of animations. While animations enhance the look of the game they hinder the fun factor, because human footballers do not struggle to switch pace, footing or general position of their bodies as much as the players do in this game. There is a reason PES 4, 5 and 6 are so revered in the community, because even though you had limited movement options, less frame animations for running, walking, sprinting etc it still felt great because you got great response time without hurting flow and general play-ability.

Embrace what you were good at Konami, stop trying to shoe yourself into a market you can never compete in anymore due to the sheer nature and expense of development and the volume of licensing agreements EA has amassed.

P.S. Does anybody have an up to date PES 5 or 6 Option File for the PC or preferably the PS2? Would love to hear whether the community has updated the legacy edition in 2018.
