Definitely worth picking up - if you can train your brain to get used to it then it's so worth it.
How's that by the way? It's good - it's a little odd to get your head round at times. I remember reading a post from
@Chris Davies back on PES 2017 when Chris was looking at getting used to advanced shooting and he mentioned how counter-intuitive it almost feels. It's a a case of once you get used to it and really, really stick with it then it's something that you don't need to even think about. I don't usually have the 'aiming reticle' on but have kept it for the demo to see if there's a difference to PES 2018 with how the sensitivity of aiming works.
You only aim for upper and lower corners and middle, right? It sort of differs depending on the situation. It gives you a much greater chance of keeping the ball low when shooting from range - you're able to pick height and direction every time you shoot so you can just pick where the ball should hopefully end up. It's also really great for surprising keepers or opposition players with near post shots - rather than always going across the keeper. On top of the you can take advantage of shooting low down the middle or high down the middle if the keeper comes out - on PES 2018 I got really good at sliding the ball through the keepers legs or just underneath them straight down the middle.
How about missed shots or hitting the post? Happens a lot - advanced shooting isn't a guarantee that you'll work the keeper every time. You'll put it over the bar, past the post or miles wide more often than not. PES 2017 was a little bugged with advanced shooting where most shots aimed high would always seem to hit the bar but it's a lot better on PES 2018 & 2019.
This is from PES 2018 (so mods please do delete if you'd like!) but shows how you can shoot low & hard from range as well as catching the keeper off guard:
