-1 game speed is perfect for me.
Hammered the demo a bit more - ive played loads which I haven't wanted to do for years.
I put this down to me being a casual gamer nowadays. I only play every other day for about an hour, if that.
Couple of little annoyances as always but have spotted that every time you put in a high head cross the AI will a bicycle kick to clear it. Looks great at first but then becomes the norm and gets annoying.
Other than that having a real good time on this.
-1 game speed make gk in slowmotion dive, a no go whatsoever. i don t want any slowmotion dive

100% agree!
what did you guys set your ingame brightness settings to? first i did as the game told me (both fields should be the same "white") and up'd it to 82. the 2 fields where the same white. ingame it was a little to much so i changed it down to 68. the 2 fields are not the same colour now but the game looks awesome.

i could not fake a throw in just yet. any help on that whould be appriciated.
i do what the setting says to do, less until u can t see logo, and more for brightness, so 55 and 45 for me

i really feel it, this year there is more fouls. as i said, i have at least 2-4 bei the AI every match. none in the pen area just yet!
i swear, sometimes its like the opponent gets really angry and tries to hack me down a lot. saying that, the do more brutal sliding tackles then standing shirt pulling or tripping into my player. wish there was more variantions in foul play.
like the air battles though, where the AI got called for fouls a lot! :)
there is definitely more fouls, but playing vs a friend online, and not offline,

what a screamer!

Great goal!
Only little nitpicking thing I don´t like that much, which is present since PES 2017:
The second replay actually has a really nice angle but after the last pass it switches behind the goalie.
Would love to have seen the goal with that first angle, if you know what I mean.

It´s all the time with the second replay. First angle is great to watch, but after the last slowed down pass it switches to a worse perspective. Not gamebreaking though.

Fouls are very much in the game. If Your not on PC and not using Sider 5 by Juce to play 20 min games, You will never see enough in a 5 minute demo.
Believe me, fouls are there.

I've noticed Shalke is more aggressive than other teams. Might be a simple chance, but it felt like that to me.
They got a couple of yellow cards too.

Absolutely!
This is from one of my games last night, playing against Schalke (20 mins, professional, full manual):
e2o2zyry9

e2o2zyry9

AI even got sent off after 2 yellow cards!
uBcs1p6

(WHY IS THAT IMAGE LINK NOT WORKING??)

I still play on Professional though. I think it is challenging enough for me.
I may suck at PES 2019 but on manual passing and advanced shooting I don't win easily and there's some error in the AI.

Same here. I´m on professional all the way and I hardly see any bullshit tiki taka style...it indeed is challenging enough.

They produced something good last year with the demo/beta I thought. For whatever reason, they decided to hold that version back.

Yeah, isn´t it? Somehow I had the feeling that the PES 2018 beta felt quite a lot like this demo...at least very similar according to weight and pace.

I convinced myself I wasn't going to play a huge amount of games on this demo and I haven't been able to put it down yet... I hate to be one of those people who rags on about "full manual is the only way to play bla bla bla" because I think that every level of assistance and passing is there for a reason.

However, swapping over to manual passing and advanced shooting for the last two nights and playing maybe 15/20+ matches against a variety of friends online (all using manual passing) has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had on PES. Hell, even against the AI it's been incredible - scored this tidy little goal that is entirely possible because of the weight / direction you can get on a pass with full manual.

That looks awesome and makes me wanna think of learning advanced shooting.
How´s that by the way? You only aim for upper and lower corners and middle, right?
How about missed shots or hitting the post?

i did turn off HDR last night for the first time, to see the difference myself. as a lot of HDR enabled games, it just looks brilliant and you will never go back to "regular" colours! its night and day, imo! "washed out" colours might be a good discription.
i was just doing it, because i wanted to record a little clip to show on youtube... and as all my video footage so far is HDR, some users might expirience probs with the colours when watching on non-HDR screens.

anyway... ill give -1 game speed a test tonight. played -1 all year in 2018. in 2019 the default speed was quite nice so far... but lets see what reducing speed does to the animations and such in 2019.

Where in Windows do you have to enable HDR? In the NVIDIA settings?
My HDR box is greyed out.

This game has some great potential if only the cpu would play in a more human way in the last third. Don't know why but they always seem to go for low crosses. It gets very repetitive after some time.

Other than that I experience some brilliant games and others a bit more meh and it seems to be heavily related to the tactic the cpu is set up with and the tactic rigidity of the game (Argentina defence for example seems to only want to defend in their 6 yards).

I had a great game against barca (except cpu last third attack approach) using schalke during which they fouled me 10 time in a 20mins game.

I've started playing on the "blimp" camera, which is the only camera far-enough out A) for me to be able to think tactically and B) to make the game seem slower, without having to resort to lowering the game speed (which makes the goalkeepers' slow-mo dives even more ridiculous).

I wish I could just zoom out the default camera a bit more. But, I'm getting used to it - and the game looks absolutely beautiful, and when I'm on the ball I can really appreciate the changes to control.

But how anyone can get past everyone passing/shooting with the same accuracy, and (more importantly) the AI... On Superstar, Colo-Colo play more tiki-taka than Barcelona do. Their pass accuracy is always between 92%-98%.

We've said for the last year that the big issues are at the core of the game. Those issues are still there. I don't know why someone who couldn't get past those issues in 2018 can get past them now, just because it feels nice to move around with the ball, or because the graphics are amazing.

Adam has said on Twitter that he's loving his Master League at the minute and that different teams feel different to play against - which sounds great. Just free the ball up and rip first-time tiki-taka out of the game, and I'll be the first to say it's the best PES ever. Especially if the latter applies to the AI and online.

If we said the AI makes decisions and passes using PA1 - which I think it does - imagine what would happen all-round if PA1 was suddenly 50% less assisted. If I could make the AI play on PA0, I'd never stop playing it.

Maybe they don't play against Colo Colo on Superstar? If anyone wants to experience Pes 2018 AI gameplay 2.0 just play that and you will see.

Ist it just me or is the pitch extreme grainy like a crumble cake on FullHD screens (PS4)? I tried to combat it with me TV sharpness setting to get some sort of antialiasing, but of course with massive influence on ball and players. It´s really no joy to the eye and i am not sure if i can get used to it.

Definitely worth picking up - if you can train your brain to get used to it then it's so worth it.

How's that by the way? It's good - it's a little odd to get your head round at times. I remember reading a post from @Chris Davies back on PES 2017 when Chris was looking at getting used to advanced shooting and he mentioned how counter-intuitive it almost feels. It's a a case of once you get used to it and really, really stick with it then it's something that you don't need to even think about. I don't usually have the 'aiming reticle' on but have kept it for the demo to see if there's a difference to PES 2018 with how the sensitivity of aiming works.

You only aim for upper and lower corners and middle, right? It sort of differs depending on the situation. It gives you a much greater chance of keeping the ball low when shooting from range - you're able to pick height and direction every time you shoot so you can just pick where the ball should hopefully end up. It's also really great for surprising keepers or opposition players with near post shots - rather than always going across the keeper. On top of the you can take advantage of shooting low down the middle or high down the middle if the keeper comes out - on PES 2018 I got really good at sliding the ball through the keepers legs or just underneath them straight down the middle.

How about missed shots or hitting the post? Happens a lot - advanced shooting isn't a guarantee that you'll work the keeper every time. You'll put it over the bar, past the post or miles wide more often than not. PES 2017 was a little bugged with advanced shooting where most shots aimed high would always seem to hit the bar but it's a lot better on PES 2018 & 2019.

This is from PES 2018 (so mods please do delete if you'd like!) but shows how you can shoot low & hard from range as well as catching the keeper off guard:

I deleted the demo this morning but not for gameplay reasons (although the AI low cross/first time shot high into corner is getting irritating and the keepers glued to the line issues) but for 2 main reasons...

5 minute games - I mean really whos idiotic idea was that! Game barely starts and it's half time, your lucky to get 2 patient attacks in per half on PA0. It's impossible to judge most of the games systems vs the AI on such short timeframes. As an offline only player, ridiculous decision.

And the main reason - the noise/heat/strain this demo is clearly putting on my Pro, no other game causes this sustained fan speed, I mean it's a nice looking game but it's no God of War or Horizon. Poorly optimized? Maybe. Uncapped framerate running wild? Possibly. Whatever is doing it the final game better not be like this...

Thx a lot for your write up!
I guess I´m gonna try it!

On superstar score a goal is very hard. Ai defenders follow the calls, theyre well positioned, AI does a great job at defending. But in attack its very bad, they manage to keep the ball, makes some good passes in midfield and when they get in the final third they start acting strange. Going backwards, searching to cross the ball at all costs, never try to dribble, to go straight forward, thats the big AI issue this year i think and thats why i have also too many games with zero shots from AI

YES, THANK YOU! This is what I've been trying to say but couldn't explain it properly!

It most clearly manifests itself for me when you give the ball away to the AI in a great position, they start passing around instead of trying to score and it's so obvious.

For me, the programmers have read "people say the AI keeps using exploits and is too perfect", and the way they've "fixed" this is to make the AI do this.

Averaging the same number of fouls myself, I love it! I'm slowly increasing the match time to see if the fouls are increasing as well, but loving the results so far.

Yep. The game feels good but the AI is Republican dumb. Hopefully Konami has been working on it...

Had to put mine on 100. Looks brilliant.
HDR game mode on my LG looks rubbish compared to other modes. All washed out. You loose the detail in the grass texture. LG issue I believe
Really? I have the C6 and calibrated. You sure yours is done right?

Where in Windows do you have to enable HDR? In the NVIDIA settings?
My HDR box is greyed out.

If it is greyed out in Windows, it means Windows isn't detecting any HDR output connected.
I have a 4K HDR TV as second screen, and a 1440@144hz monitor as my primary one.
When I open Windows Display Settings on my primary screen (monitor) I have the HDR option greyed out.
When I open it on my secondary screen (TV) I can turn it on and off.

I agree.

I'm currently having a love-meh relationship with this game.
One day I have erections with it and think this could be a gem.
Then the next day I'm like this is PES 2018 with some tweaks here and there. Not good.
I don't know what to make of it.

So 4 actual fouls by the AI in 20 minutes. I think that's poor.

Matter of taste and expectations.
Felt right to me, tbh.
Compared to last year, AI didn´t get away with murder all the time and I can´t remember having a CPU player sent off the last time in PES 2018.

Plus, that´s only one example^^.

Haha gotta love your persistence:LOL:

For the other point, I actually found that it's only when you loose the ball in dangerous places that the AI is direct, like this:

Hell, I must be honest, for all the lacks it has it overall feels truly much better than Pes 2018 (even if I ended up completely despise it, so I don't know how good of a comparison it is). Player weight, defending the ball with L2, shooting. Even dribbling physics seems to be much improved and satysfying than 2018. And fouls seems decent (most importantly, cpu isn't afraid to tackle).

I also feel manual passing super accessible, which I don't know if it's good for you guys or not, because when I tried it last year I wasn't having an easy time at all, but now I don't have much problems moving the ball around. I kinda even forgot I set it up at one point.. maybe it's also the less super human cpu, I don't know.

I did a Liverpool-Palmeiras that for the first time since the demo came out, made me think I could maybe give it a chance, but the problem is that I might hate the next game and so on, it's not a reliable experience. Plus, they may screw some of those positive points in the fjnal release (not new for them) and not address at all the things lacking that I find important. We'll see, by the way.. still trying to keep an open mind.

I've started playing on the "blimp" camera, which is the only camera far-enough out A) for me to be able to think tactically and B) to make the game seem slower, without having to resort to lowering the game speed (which makes the goalkeepers' slow-mo dives even more ridiculous).

So what's the plan? buy the game anyway and hope for the best? i'm not sure Adam really understood what I was saying when i attempted to tweet to point out the issue which is essentially the discussion below (not a dig, just hard to convey points properly in 280 characters) I can't honestly believe that the master league he is playing has different AI to the demo we are all playing? maybe he doesn't see/feel these issues, maybe its a case of once you've seen it you can't unsee but if you are just enjoying the game, until then, ignorance is bliss?
