For those having seeing Goalies not coming off their lines, who are they and check to see if they have Defensive Goal Keeper playstyle. I don't know why Konami keeps using this card but it's terrible I always remove it from all Goalies.

I convinced myself I wasn't going to play a huge amount of games on this demo and I haven't been able to put it down yet... I hate to be one of those people who rags on about "full manual is the only way to play bla bla bla" because I think that every level of assistance and passing is there for a reason.

However, swapping over to manual passing and advanced shooting for the last two nights and playing maybe 15/20+ matches against a variety of friends online (all using manual passing) has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had on PES. Hell, even against the AI it's been incredible - scored this tidy little goal that is entirely possible because of the weight / direction you can get on a pass with full manual.

Love it! Very nice goal.
That's what passing freedom is.

I say work on it and improve it - this is a good way to distinguish between various goalkeepers

How confident are we all that Konami will keep the pace of play and weight of players the same for release?

It's honestly my biggest fear that they won't stand firm and stick to their guns with this.
Lots of people on Twitter etc moaning about 'input lag' and 'slow response times' with most them not realising it's a design choice.

Here are a series of short clips from little bits I thought were worth uploading.

I'm gonna make you regret that now! :D look!:

I had the second one happen to me. They need to polish up the animation sequence (doesn't look entirely believable). When it happens, in real time speed, the jitter feels almost like a glitch occured. But it's cool they put that thought there. Just a matter of iterations, they just need to blend movement/actions/situation/weight/balance better.

Would be better if it happens contextually...for example, imagine if it's mapped to first touch (stopping the ball). How your direction inputs need to be timed correctly, and if rushed, then those events in your videos happens. Would be a cool contextual feedback from the game to tell us what we've done wrong etc. At this moment, I'm not sure if it's mapped to anything (feels randomly occurring, occasionally). Is it mapped to anything? Perhaps ball played behind the run?

Agree. This game has nothing to do with 2018. Day and night. I cant play a game on 18.

True. I went back to PES 18 last night as I could not be bothered to play 5 minute games.
PES 19 is more refined - better shooting with way more variety, better dribbling, more pronounced player individuality (I do now think that pace now somewhat plays its role)
Plus the lighting and shadows in the game look immense, I know now what stadium I am playing in rather than having each grass pitch look exactly the game.
The flaws in AI and keepers being glued to their line do hamper the experience somewhat but won't deter me from buying it. If these issues were addressed it would be make for a great year for Master League players. I don't get involved in online much, ML and human v human is what I have always done.
Definitely way ahead of PES 18 imo.

PES18 and now this feels so unrewarding and unsatisfying. and it’s because it is so assisted.

Yeah great i through balled it perfectly to my winger again who is completely unopposed and through ball to Messi and yeah it's a goal. Every pass and shot literally couldn’t fail, and anything i just pressed had little effect on the direction or power, so essentially we’re not really in control, so I feel no satisfaction when it works, as you literally require zero skill to bang through ball a couple of times on the counter and press shoot and vaguely aim past the goalie who hasn’t moved off his line AGAIN. old PES required at least some skill.

You could then say OK, then turn assists off and play AI, yeah that’s better and rewarding but the AI are so boring and have no personality whatsoever in their play so even that it is worthless. why do every team and player do the exact same thing? In PES1-6 the AI would do things i hadn’t seen or couldn’t predict, in PES 18 and this, they near enough never do anything new. they are robots. same passes, same patterns, same goals. Seen 1 AI team, seen them all. Messi should dribble and pass creatively, operate in the same space as Messi, he doesnt, no one has individuality. OK, then play online unassisted? You can't, the filters are crap and the game will lag too often like last year.

PES should consciously be the opposite of FIFA, by creating a game that appeals to an older gamer or those that want unassisted gameplay and interesting AI and teams with personality. That way you have a niche. Want assisted gameplay? FIFA. Want unassisted? It's PES.
Instead, right now, PES is just FIFA lite, assisted gameplay, boring AI, laggy online + a cheap Ultimate Team knock off.

How are you comming along the France v Argentina challenge?

I'm nowhere near, having only drew games using manual and now I've even started to loose games. But I'd rather stick to manual!

Just for the record, I'm in the camp that think manual is harder on this than 2018 was. The :l1:+:circle: is not nearly as effective either.

Yeah, probably gonna change. Would love if they did like this:https://forums.ea.com/en/nhl/discussion/224716/thanks-for-all-the-participation-and-feedback

In the NHL 19 Beta people complained that pokechecking had become less effective (it was the easiest way to take the puck from your opponent in previous years so they made it much more SIM, of course making kids furious who didn't care if it made the game more realistic.

There is lot's of interesting stuff from the developers in that post (that essentially defends their ideas and design choice but I like this bit:

"From looking at the data, returning NHL 18 veterans are actually more likely to trip players than new players to the game. This could obviously be that new players are using pokecheck less but it could also mean that using pokecheck more aggressively was a learned behavior that the previous game allowed and that people need to adapt to new conditions that may be better for the overall balance of the game. We also know that over time, all of our players have adapted to the current game regardless of their skill level and take less penalties over time. These are all great things from a gameplay mechanic perspective as it means there is a skill gap and that it is not random. I also like qualifying that against the leaderboards and other data. I see players who are able to have sub 1 goal a game against and still average less than 2 penalty minutes per game so the changes to pokechecking, even in their current state don’t compromise their ability to play defense."

Could you see Konami doing this? Saying for example; "Yes, we have toned PA1 down but people will adapt and our vision of creating a more realistic football experience can carry on"

Hoping they do; expecting that they won't.

after playing a dozen of 10min matches i would say that this is a good year for pes :
I wont detail everyting as ive done it before but this pes is way better than '18. I really enjoy it in terms of gameplay.
But i just finished a 10min match with France against Argentina, superstar difficulty, i had 64% possession and zero shots from Argentina.
In my opinion this pes is really great : the only issue is the AI which is very very poor. I have the feeling that for the past 2-3 years the AI in pes is just idiot in the lower levels of difficulty and cheating in the upper levels. Konami hasnt find the right balance to make the game tough but fair. But i think its pretty normal as the AI is a problem for the entire video game industry. You can now have amazing graphics, animations, open world games but programming a "human-like" AI which can learn and make contextual choices is almost impossible for now. Even the specialist are struggling with AI so a video games studio cant do any better.
Anyway if they dont messed up the ML, its just a great game this year thanks konami ( first time i thank them since pes13 :) )

What kills me is, the AI don't pass like that.

Absolutely gorgeous replay. Graphically and in terms of your passing and movement. Love it.

If the AI played in a similar fashion and wasn't completely tiki-taka (on Superstar - it's too easy on the lower difficulties IMO and even then the passes are always perfect to feet), it'd be one of the best games I've played.

With the AI as they are, though. It ruins *everything*. For me.

I m really surprized by the way pes19 is so well accepted. Yes it has more variety, less assisted passes, ball is more unpredictable.
But nothing in pes 19 resembles real soccer.
Players have no weight, are extremely fast and agile, like cockroaches on steroids.
Ball, is way too light, travels extremely fast, and sometimes bounce and rolls funny.
Graphics are oversaturated, eye straining, and i have the feel that ball and player models levitate / hover an inch over the pitch.
How can i have so different opinion from the vast majority in here?

So far, with whatever little experience I've had, this game plays best on Professional/ -1 speed/ PA0. Some animations look really good and there are some that need improvement. There are some that need to go like the player tiltling like a motorbike when turning right or left while running. Keepers are too floaty still. Ball physics are really nice. HDR lighting looks lovely. I haven't played without HDR to compare though, I should. I will keep playing more to form a proper decision whether to buy this game or not.

So far so good though.
i did turn off HDR last night for the first time, to see the difference myself. as a lot of HDR enabled games, it just looks brilliant and you will never go back to "regular" colours! its night and day, imo! "washed out" colours might be a good discription.
i was just doing it, because i wanted to record a little clip to show on youtube... and as all my video footage so far is HDR, some users might expirience probs with the colours when watching on non-HDR screens.

anyway... ill give -1 game speed a test tonight. played -1 all year in 2018. in 2019 the default speed was quite nice so far... but lets see what reducing speed does to the animations and such in 2019.

holy... that last one, that save with one hand.... that looks so cool and life like.
sometimes its just in the game! maybe not shown enough. but it shines so lovely sometimes! :)

i saved a video myself, where the keeper is rushing out perfectly (triangle enhanced), after some deflection by the defense.

the ball physics and whats happening on the pitch cause of it, thats my star so far. deflections, swirl, curf, back bouncing, turning, whatever...

There is definitely a nice game in there, it s a love hate relationship for me with this game, but simply game is only playable with manual shooting and passing, pa1 is simply too automated after playing 10 games or more, game is simply too assisted on pa1, and basic shooting is too assisted, press shoot from anywhere and u will hit the target..shame that overhead kick was not goal, sometimes you feel the game is lifelike with the shooting animations

I was Palmeiras. Look at the Free-Kicks count. I got EIGHT fouls! This is getting out of hands!
I hope they tone AI aggressiveness down! Too much interruption!

:LMAO: just kidding!
Love it!!! Seems they did pay attention to us. At least, on this matter.
i really feel it, this year there is more fouls. as i said, i have at least 2-4 bei the AI every match. none in the pen area just yet!
i swear, sometimes its like the opponent gets really angry and tries to hack me down a lot. saying that, the do more brutal sliding tackles then standing shirt pulling or tripping into my player. wish there was more variantions in foul play.
like the air battles though, where the AI got called for fouls a lot! :)

i pray to god ;) that they keep the pace! oh how i wished they not change it to be faster!

Guys I have a question. Sure ...You remember PES 2017 and goals with no-move goalkeeper like during Henry´s shot here time 0:45 - - just epic!

Does PES 2019 have the same no-move goalkeeper reaction after shots sometimes? I really really love this kind of goals! I will be thankfull for every reply. Was somebody able to score this kind of goal?

Just turned it off and the difference is night and day. The picture comes to life with HDR because of HDR's lighting alone.

And put on 2018 a bit, I couldn't finish the first half. I'm not going back to it ever. 2019 the players feel weightier, well on -1 they definitely are. The ball physics alone are much improved. Now if only they could reduce the skatiness, have better foot planting, and first touch.. oh, and keepers. This is good stuff so far.

And AI, and fatigue and physicality. Well, Pes is still far from being great. It's good but not great.

-1 game speed is perfect for me.
Hammered the demo a bit more - ive played loads which I haven't wanted to do for years.
I put this down to me being a casual gamer nowadays. I only play every other day for about an hour, if that.
Couple of little annoyances as always but have spotted that every time you put in a high head cross the AI will a bicycle kick to clear it. Looks great at first but then becomes the norm and gets annoying.
Other than that having a real good time on this.

100% agree!
what did you guys set your ingame brightness settings to? first i did as the game told me (both fields should be the same "white") and up'd it to 82. the 2 fields where the same white. ingame it was a little to much so i changed it down to 68. the 2 fields are not the same colour now but the game looks awesome.

i could not fake a throw in just yet. any help on that whould be appriciated.

HDR game mode on my LG looks rubbish compared to other modes. All washed out. You loose the detail in the grass texture. LG issue I believe
