My apologies for complaining about a game that had huge technical issues. What was I thinking, I must be so unreasonable. Me and a huge number of other people for that matter.

Oh well, I bet it does play a good game when the moon is aligned with the equator, you drop it down to 520p, remove transfer updates, keep that patch that stops your console from switching off or crazy amounts of judder etc etc.

But then I'm unreasonable for wanting a straightforward game that works out of the box, that I paid good money for.

Pes6 was very enjoyable and i remember me spending countless hours
with my friends, playing mini leagues...
But i think that PES14 offers this "get and learn" sentiment!

I'm hearing that the game is laying a good base for the PS4 version next year. I'm concerned that those, like myself, that cannot afford a PS4 just yet will now be stuck with an unfinished game every year with just transfer updates.

It's new but the worst of last 10 years..I really really don't understand that Konami has been making football games for 20 years but they can't even implement proper shooting system..It's mind blowing..Apart from shooting, ı've always thought that they couldn't get rid of on-rail system because of the old engine..Fox engine feels more restricted than old engine(for now).We've heard lies since E3; the ball is soo free,it's entirely different entity etc..Where the fuck is this?

Its hard to please people i guess, i do not know why anybody will say that there is no individuality in this game i noticed that after the patch the fluidity in dribbling of certain star players increased mind you it was already there but subtle perhaps in attempts to curb spamming . I prefer pes 2014 to pes 2013 although i agree that pes is the thinking man's football game, i feel more or less like i'm on the pitch with pes 2014. The individuality of players on pes 2013 was too much it was annoying. Both ronaldo and messi, with people spamming all day long, I have a friend who will take a freekick with dani alves on one spot and score it like he built up momentum before taking the shot it was undefendable dats why i stopped playing pes 2013 too much wierd stuff going on . I understand why konami opted to make sure the dribbling foundation was natural on pes 2014 first before tweaking it for pes 2015 to make messi shine even more. The major problem with pes 2014 is the programming konami is using to make up for the low spec hardware carrying a powerful engine. What i expected konami to have done is to release this game for pc only since pc and ps4 have similar architecture and try and get everything right using the pc hardware because this same programming is ported to the pc explains why pes still maxes out 1 core in an i7 processor . Like someone mentioned the AI layer,the physics engine and the game all move at different levels leading to many errors. That is why pes 2015 will be very important for pes but i am afraid that disjointed feedback will ruin the game. If i were Konami i'd be confused too. Look at neymar on pes 2014 he has a very uncanny ability to escape tackles people do not dig deep to notice. I have played on all levels and for me i have more success beating teams on superstar, On professional i get a well balanced football match but occassionally the computer plays well on superstar , bayern beat me 6-0 from nowhere leading me to believe there is something wrong in the programming. Superstar started getting easy to beat on pes 2013 due to feedback from people, i loved pes 2012 superstar because it was a challenge, u go there you get beat. I want that for pes 2015 a difficulty mode people do not go to out of fear.

Pes is too far developed to be dumbed down like that but I am concerned players will start turning 180 degrees like Fifa NG. It ends up being a end to end bat shit crazy game. KONAMI must stick to this there is already a game for the arcade market.
Mind you once you have the dribble mechanics you really start to exploit it but in a good way.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea really. Nowadays I avoid Top Player and Superstar out of another kind of fear... it's simply stupid and not particularly hard. I have more realistic results on Professional and I lose more matches, if only just barely, on that difficulty.

It wasn't arcade. It was a fun game, not as believable as PES 5, but a great game overall, with some well-known exploits (cut-back goals, that shoot animation, Adriano). However, I think the main reason 6 still has a big fanbase is simply because it happened to be the last one released at that moment, so patch-makers continued to create content for that game.

I don't think I've even seen a copy of PES 2014 in a shop in my city centre, here in the UK the series really can't be doing too well. For good reason too, they've been putting out lackluster products for many consecutive years.

Despite me getting enjoyment out of the gameplay of a couple of PES games last gen, as a complete product it's been woeful for the entire lifespan of the 360/PS3. The dated and amateurish presentation, the piss-poor sound effects/commentary, the lack of variation/quality of animations, the lifeless single player modes, the very limited online modes etc... Even PES 2011 which was my favourite of this gen suffered from all of these issues.

PES 2014 is a laughable product in terms of overall production quality.

PES 5 was much more realistic than PES 6. Defense was a mess in PES 6 and speed was all to fast. I remember that patch makers made the speed slower and the defences better though. It was good times. But animation wise I think PES 13 is up there with them now, if you play it manually.

PES 2014 is not even ready yet, frame rate issues persist and manual controls are f##ked still. Add to that the removing of the color of the bars for manual passing and shooting. The bars came back but as stupid as things still are you can't see others bars, so it makes no sense having colors online anyhow because you can't tell if your opponent is playing manually or automatic.

PES 2014 has truly divided opinion. it's not a total failure for everyone, some rightfully annoyed it's a'beta' some are content witht he potential and look to explore the new features.

It's not that I don't see the mistakes and errors but they're kinda invisible in all the good stuff this game has to offer. Anyone who isn't able to enjoy this game simply won't ever be satisfied. If they're so focused on the few mistakes here, then they're people who see the glass half full. (EDIT: It's supposed to be "half-empty" whereas "half-full" is the positive attitude? )

lol, only here the reviews and impression for FIFA NG is super-positive, on the fence of "too good to be true" camp. Even the most level-headed FIFA defenders, the PESFAN community don't think it's all rosy with FIFA 14.

I can look all through the flaws. But personally i think PES 2014 could do with more stadium. That's where it really lacking.

I can understand a lot of the praise for FIFA 14 NG, it does a lot of things right, in particular pretty much everything I mentioned that PES has been doing wrong a few posts back.

However, whenever I see people say the gameplay is realistic or it feels like football, I struggle to take that that seriously. It's so far away from realism in such fundamental ways.
It's a great game to have around for playing with your mates after a few beers and I'd have a lot of fun with it that way, but as a game to really get into on your own... Nope, not for me.

Another error with power bars at 0 assistance.It shows manual color (green)for passing AND shooting even if you are using basic shooting.

In Pes 2013 if passing was at 0 bars,but shooting was assisted it showed yellow for passing and rainbow colors for shooting.That way you could understand passing and shooting system your opponent was using.It should be that way again.

About Ps2 Pes, if you dedicated more time with Pes 5 you could see that game really was the KING of football games,not Pes 6. Like you said Pes 6 is already the beginning of Pes decline,too simple, too fast.

Before the patch the bar was always showing the same color (rainbow),even if you were playing at 0 bars. Only with L2 manual passing it was green.
Now it shows a different color if you are using 0 bars (green),but it's the same color for passing AND shooting.

Example

If you are using 0 bars passing but assisted shooting the game shows green bar even when shooting like you were using manual shooting.

I played some PES 2014 yesterday with a friend. I don't want to elaborate to sound like a broken record again, but it wasn't a particularly joyous experience for any of us (more like hilarious, as the game seems so flawed). Anyways - I have been out of the loop for a couple of months, do you know whether Konami plan on releasing any gameplay fixes, or have they jumped ship on PES 2014 already?

I posted in here as a direct response to people criticising those of us who decided to stop playing the game. For a while the topic seemed equally as concerned with why those who don't like the game were 'wrong' rather than just discussing the game itself. That's why I commented. I think I've pointed that out several times now.

It's perfectly fine to not like the game, or any game for that matter. It's a matter of taste. What most people don't seem to fathom is that it's just an opinion regardless of what it's based upon. OK, clearly the negatives outweigh the positives if you don't like the game. I believe that if that's the case then you probably won't ever be satisfied. I base that opinion (and it's just an opinion) on the fact that I've played more or less every football game on the market since 1986 or so and none of them has had the gameplay the latest PES versions have offered. PES2013 gameplay mixed with 2014 engine for the physics and animations will be great and it's just a matter of tuning on Konami's part. When that's sorted we can petition for fairer ref's and minor details later. The most important part is getting the physics and gameplay sorted and it isn't too far off at the moment.

There are step-backs in some areas but the progress in others are undeniable. I think that a person that is too hung up on the things that could be better, or the things that outright sucks probably does that in other areas of their life as well and should consider doing something about it to get a better life. Again, just an opinion.

Anyway, this post isn't just meant for you even if I quoted just you so don't take it too personal. The main reason why I'm not bothered to comment on the negatives too often is because the whine choir on this forum is beyond pathetic. People act as if Konami owes them to tailor a game to each and everyone's preference and we all know that's not really possible. The outright bugs are one thing but design decisions should be criticized with a different level of respect.

PS. Just having watched many PL games this season made me realize how often weird stuff happens in real life. More than enough to excuse a few weird incidents in PES, for example. This includes major blunders by high profile players, both real and in PES.

BUT if we were to compare pes with fifa CG then yes i agree pes is the much better game. i just fkn hope konami get there act together and bring us a great pes 2015 NG or else its RIP konami for me.

Sadly FIFA NG costs €510 since i would have to buy an otherwise useless box just to play 1 game.
IF it gets down to €60 normal price then I might reconsider it.
