I still think that Top Player is by far the best setting, every time I try Superstar I concede unbelievably dodgy, glitchy goals. Literally this happens every time I move up to that difficulty. I said about it last night, and after some people praising the game since today's patch I decided to give it another go.
I mean, I posted that video last night of the Darren Bend 'wonder' goal where the ball suspended itself in the air so that he could bend his leg round in time to score, and I tried it tonight and similar bizarre stuff happened. I can't explain it.
I played Lyon v Galatasary on Top Player, just about held on to win 2-1 and was under intense pressure most of the second half once they pulled it back to 2-1. It was a great, fun game to play.
I then played the exact same fixture on Superstar, exact same settings across the board bar the difficulty (all players on green arrows for example). Within 40 minutes I'd let in 3 dodgy goals. The first was a bizarre own goal, my keeper parried a shot and the CPU made my defender punt the ball back against my keeper's face and into the net. 1-0. The second, a shot took two strange deflections before rolling over the line. 2-0. And the third, Galatasary played a ball over the top, and my keeper, without any instruction from me, ran at least 40 yards off his line, didn't reach the ball first, and they rolled it into an empty net.
It's really weird. I like the game on Superstar otherwise, I've realised that I think the CPU pressurises so much because I'm playing on zero assists and am still not great at it, which means my passes are slower at reaching their target, or not perfectly into the stride of my team mate's runs, which holds up the play and gives the CPU more time to close the ball down effectively. That, I can cope with by either just knocking the difficulty down or going to 1 or 2 bars assisted passing (which I wouldn't want to do now).
BUT, what I don't understand is how every time I switch to Superstar, almost every game, the CPU manages to regularly score comedy goals against me. On Top Player I've yet to see a goal that I even feel is remotely dubious, or felt cheated out of the game, but on Superstar I've had players scoring with their arm, the ball freezing in mid-air matrix-style for the CPU to reposition itself and volley home, my keeper rushing 40 yards out of his goal, and about 5 or 6 own goals in just half a dozen matches. On Top Player I've yet to concede a single own goal that I can remember, on Superstar I literally concede one every 3 or 4 matches, and they're all own goals that come about from random stuff like the CPU randomly making my player boot the ball which ricochets off another and in, or the CPU hitting a shot which hits a player in the face and then bounces off another team mate and into the net etc.
Really strange how this isn't happening for others. It's rare for me to play a game on Superstar where I haven't conceded at least one goal that you'd look at and say that's either a glitchy goal, comedy run of deflections or outright keeper gaffes.
Is it only me experiencing this? I can't find it a coincidence that I never conceded 'iffy' goals at all on Top Player, every goal I concede is down to good build up play from the CPU or my own error, then I move it up to Superstar and straight away my keeper decides to run 40 yards off his line without being told to do so, or my players start booting it against each other in the box etc etc.
So strange.
