PES 2013 Discussion Thread

I think the only solution will be to download an OF that includes all summer transfers and then ignore all the updates Konami may release.

I might play PES with my Internet cable disconnected from now on. They leave me no choice since I just want to start playing offline ML in peace. I don't wanna wait another month, only to have more bugs with a new update.

F*cking hell, how did this company do when there were no online patches and updates? They only had 1 chance to finish the product and release, and they used to get it right.
Now many years later, give them resources and new possibilities and they get lost! Konami don't know what they're doing!

Just because they can release updates and patches online, they rush an unfinished product into the market, full of flaws. They think they have a much bigger margin of error now, because they can "fix" fuck ups with updates. But what's happening is that they're getting careless.

Not happy about this. Bring back the old days when we didn't have updates! :P

borrowed pes2013 from a m8 while he is on holiday, cannot believe they are charging full price for a game with less modes, under maintenace more times than british rail. games crashing cus they haven't tested there data packs properly.game play wise it is good in certain areas, but the problems still remain and have not been fixed regarding gks, still shit on 1v1. ai of your team mates still no reaction to loose balls still standing still or backing away. and player switching only had a few games but have had lots of instances, where two players near ball game selects neither and both back away from loose ball. just what have these two guys working in his dads garage been doing for a full year.
at present i cannot justify paying £40 for this which is pes2012 with a patch. they seriously need to get there finger out.
how many will be pre ordering next years version after this years little suprise no league mode but hey lets not tell em let them buy it first fiasco.
a very disgrunteled pes customer who has bought every version bar this years!!

You're not a customer since you haven't bought PES2013, you merely borrowed it. I don't think you have the right to complain like someone cheated on you if you haven't actually spend money on it.
That said i agree with you about the modes and all the maintenace (the past about British rail was funny). I think the gameplay is actually quite good...

Looks like it might be released today!

Though it only says this for the PC and PS3 versions. If I select 360 version it says no news as yet :((

Where does it say so? Not on this link, I guess. Plus, they are only referring to PC version here.

If you go to PES 2013/Konami official website, there's no mention of it and no clarifications on the matter.

This is just outrageous and unacceptable!

Still absolutely no comment on the situation from Konami, barring some 'rep' on their Facebook page saying that they are having 'continuing issues'. Oh dear.

Does anyone think that the engine is so old and creaking that it's now causing major issues? It's just a guess. I mean they manage to make the gameplay the best it's been this gen, but as a trade off loads of stuff has gone missing (afternoon matches, game modes, even the number of music tracks in the game have disappeared from 20 down to 8). And now there are so many issues with data pack updates, I'm just wondering if the old engine is completely shafted now.

I say that in massive and clearly false hope that the new engine next year will offer a game with brilliant physics, lighting, AI, and with the game's architecture sufficiently modern to be able to cope with all those things AND keep stuff like game modes and game options in place from game to game. Maybe the crappy engine has meant that they have needed to remove stuff to facilitate others?

Misguided optimism maybe.

Do you really think that the decision of remove stuff was because of the engine? Really?

So why on PS2 they managed to include much more stuff than nowadays, with an older version of engine? Like snow, stadium tour, trophy gallery, dirty kits, breath on Winter matches, different ball physics depending of weather, etc. Konami live on their own bobble, and don't give a **** about feedback. They do what they want. It's a different style of making games.

Both games are good but flawed. That being said I can't stop playing PES 2013 since the patch was released yesterday. There seems to be a fluidity and freedom to the game now that I hadn't felt before the patch and haven't felt from a PES game in a while.

Exactly. That 2013 was the bees knees right up until about two or three days ago. It was okay and I'd have put up with it over the next year, but as I ventured further into ML the game started to feel like 2012 more and more with only the odd game that resembled the demos. BHAM 1.01 - freed up the game, and given it what I can only explain as a 'boost'. CPU feels much more balanced, more variation etc. Less cheaty parts. More responsive, less constant CPU through balls. Different shooting trajectories and more skimming shots. More free collision ball bounce, heavier first touch on players both CPU and human.

Much much better experience.

Based on two online games I think something has changed in the gameplay.

I played Schalke (me) vs Real Madrid and my (slow) defenders held the line well and cut out a lot of through balls (ground) because of their improved positioning. They feel like they are a lot less idle now, if only the other players felt the same.

Regarding online, does anyone know the team rankings? When I pick teams like Schalke and Roma my opponent can still pick Real Madrid.

Anyone feel like their playing snooker online?

Fluidity since yesterdays patch? you sure? Seems worse!

I've tried and tried and tried to really like this game and give it a chance but the honest truth is its just brutal, utterly brutal.

I just played Ajax v Gronigen and i swear their player had the ball 40 yards out back to goal and he back heeled it 20 yards to their player edge of my box, who for somereason was standing around unmarked whilst my players ambled about. He proceeded to walk into the box and pee roll it under Vermeer who just watched.

Brutal.

But then it will do something wonderful like a nice shot or goal mouth action.

But for the most part its criminally poor. Fifa has some problems, but for me offline is a better all round game, i dont get screwed out of matches.

And the cameras, i mean for goodness sakes, i love broadcast but they still have that stupid angle change in corners. I mean its just POOR design, poor, poor, poor. I mean who did they think would benefit from that?

Konami have a lot to do next gen, a huge amount because its a really disappointing game, stiff and on rails which it cant shake. It NEEDS real investment, not just a sugar coating on an already flawed game.

Honestly im peeved.

Mate im not calling you a liar but its just a Placebo. Nothings changed, the game is the same as it was. Theyve done nothing to it at all.

Ha, every year we go through this! Konami probably puts nothing at all into these patches, just a bunch of empty files, knowing that immediately after it's applied people will start exclaiming that the gameplay is much better.

Don't know about that, there were definite differences between the patches last year. I haven't tried PES 2013 since the patch though, and I doubt I would notice a difference if there is any, haven't played the unpatched game that much.

you know its possible they just upped the difficulty to proffessional

So it seems PS3 and PC are now sorted, but still no news on the Xbox version :((. There hasn't even been an update like the other versions had saying when they're gonna start fixing it.

Really? Do you have a link confirming this? Because on Konami's official site they don't bother explaining to us what's going on :(

Despite defaulting all the transfers before downloading the update, then overwriting my Edit Data after downloading it, I STILL had to go to transfer edit and default all the registration data before the transfers showed up. Weird.

Just warning everyone now: you have to go through pretty much every team in the game and correct their starting line-ups, because Konami haven't checked them - the update has bumped players around inside the squad and most teams now have people in completely the wrong positions, e.g. Man United have Carrick at centre back with Kagawa up front, while Juventus have Paul Pogba at left wing back with Giovinco playing as target man up front (a bold decision, that). 90% of the teams in the game have something like that seriously wrong with their line-ups now, and it's not just a cosmetic problem, it means that you have lumbering CBs on the wing changing their overall rating to 41 and stuff like that. Some of this may be because I'd edited the team formations beforehand (overwriting the Edit Data hasn't changed that) but there are also loads of fuck-ups in teams I've never even touched.

I've just been through the Brazilian league (cos I'll be starting an ML there this weekend) and altered them all (I also had to manually transfer Ganso to Sao Paulo cos he was still at Santos - nice one Konami, it was only the biggest transfer in Brazil this year). I don't know the Brazilian league so well that I know exactly who plays in central midfield for Ponte Preta or whatever, but you can correct the obvious errors by looking to see who's rated below 60 in their current position and swapping them for whoever actually plays in that position and is on the bench. It took about half an hour. Not relishing doing this for every single team in the game, but I guess it might have to be done.

Cheers for the DLC, lads. Great job.

Can someone give me some good defensive tips, formations, or tactics to use in this game cuz I seriously suck at defense.

@pere

only carrick as CB here, not the other examples..
weird
now everyone has it different :D

OK, must be something to do with the fact that I did some transfers / changed some line-ups before the DLC. I can guarantee that there'll be more of this somewhere in your game though, because I definitely didn't touch the Brazilian teams' line-ups and they're all over the place too.

A lot of the starting lineups are wrong but I just checked Man Utd and Kagawa is in the correct position but Valencia is at RB and Carrick is CB.

Your point does extend to player cards though, offline can be changed but it all adds up online and makes a difference.

Hazard has a Goal Poacher card and Thiago Silva has an Offensive Fullback card. There are many more examples.

Quality control at its finest.
