What? Did you actually read what I said?

I said several times that like everyone else, I've been waiting for Konami to release the update with all transfers across the board. A full transfer update, also because as a customer buying their product I shouldn't have to do it myself.

It's only crossed my mind to start editing my own transfers now, on the day of the patch, because there is no patch. Did you miss that part?

It's been pulled because it doesn't work. So now we have a long, drawn out waiting game of not knowing when Konami will bother fixing and re-releasing the patch, hence me losing patience and thinking maybe I'll just go ahead and do it myself.

Yeah, it should have been a day 1 update. I presume it's taken until now because they brought the game out early, but it should only take a couple of employees a few days to a week at most to go through the official transfer records for each club in the game (and there aren't actually that many) and make the changes.

Total farce. Hopefully the DLC will come out very quickly, like tomorrow or something, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're still all wondering when it's coming out halfway through next week or something.
 
It seems I have to delete my edit data then... That's hours spent creating classic players gone. I don't know if I have the will power to come back to the game and recreate everything I've lost.

Oh, and I don't want to download the patch that came with it, but unlike other games those lovely people have Konami have made it so that you can't download the data pack without first downloading the patch, which means I'm gonna have to DL the data pack whenever it's re-released, then empty my system cache to get rid of the patch, which means deleting all other patches in all other games on my xbox hard drive.

I noticed the patch notes state, tucked away at the bottom of the list, that it includes a nicely vague 'various changes' to improve game experience.....hmmm. Why can't I just play the game as it came out of the box with up to date transfers for fuck sake? To me that implies that gameplay tweaks have been made, which is something I want to avoid as I enjoy the game out of the box.

In fact, what is the problem with both companies this year?! EA have released FIFA13 in such a shambolic state that it's appeared on Watchdog thanks to what sounds like dozens and dozens of huge bugs, and Konami remove game modes, don't make well known option files compatible with data packs, fail to update transfers until mid-October, then release a bugged version before immediately pulling the download.

Erm... the patch fixes a fair few things in my opinion after about 12 games or so. Defender glitching seems sorted as does COM's tackle success and strength (seeing players ride challenges or recover more often) and the passing game feels more free and crisp. This is in exhibition mode but I was playing on Top Player all last night and today it feels a far tidier and fairer experience overall.

it's only just crossed your mind now to transfer players.. really ? :SHOCK: i just think its ridiculous to wait to start your ML because of lack of transfers, then a month later, on the day of the patch and transfers is when you decide to start it!!!

Well, I'll have to wait and see until I've tried it but I was coming from the viewpoint that I already enjoy the game and didn't want to start this age-old Konami update thing of wondering which 'version' was better. I'm sure there will soon be debates on here with people claiming the patched version is better or worse.

Sounds encouraging, will need more people to convince me that it's worth updating though

Well, yeah, seeing as Konami's update will include over 500 player transfers and new players (according to their dlc notes), I'd be bolloxed if I was gonna do those myself. So I figured I'd just wait a little while for the update before starting a ML. What's so wrong with that?

Now that the day has finally arrived where the transfer update was being released, I was looking forwards to starting a ML with all 500 updates properly installed. What's wrong with that?

And finally, now that Konami's transfer update totally freezes your console, and has now been removed with no indication of how much longer we'll have to wait, then yeah, I've now lost patience with them and considered editing a small handful of players myself and having to make do with what I have.

Again, what's wrong with that?

I guess we will wait a while now until Konami sort out the problem. We are not talking about some extra hours and i don't think we will get a transfer update in the next 1 or 2 weeks.

Never had to delete mine. Just downloaded the patch and the DLC and it asked me to save edit data, which I did, and all was well. My option file and all the edits to players I had done over the past few weeks were/are sill good to go.

Who said it's a few hours late? You just made that up. They've offered no indication of when it's going to be released..

Its gonna be more than a few hours. Im thinking at least another week. If konami have to resubmit the file because something critical is messed up it will mean it has to go though microsoft and sony again before they can put it back up.

Yes, there are problems with some of you with DLC updates or whatever it is, I haven't been following the drama today sorry.

BUT -

I've just played a game with the 1.01 installed and it's absolutely raised my enjoyment levels of PES to another level. Why isn't anybody mentioning the new gameplay? I was enjoying the game, but sometimes it was feeling like 2012 and little script things were starting to niggle me. Also the CPU were just switching to super human ruining the game now and again.

1.01 - Unbelievable freedom. Space and a much better ability to shape attacks. Tackling is better. The randomness and the ball bounces is insane. Challenges are flying in and there is a freedom in the ball bounce now.

AND -

The biggest thing for me - CPU playing the ball around much much more. Played a game v West Brom and by half time they had 54% possession!!!! At full time it was 52% to me, and this was on three bar assists, Superstar, 15 mins. The way the CPU pressures is now far better, much more realistic and so I may even go back to zero assists.

West Brom were passing it from side to side, round the back, holding it in midfield. The lot.

Whatever is in 1.01 I'm having some more of it please lol!

I think you may be onto something. Always leery of the old placebo affect, I've been playing some back-to-back games with and without the 1.01 patch installed and the patched version does seem like a more fluid and free-flowing experience. Shots seem to have a little bit more whip on them too.
 
Okay to those getting the "communication error" its because. Konami have removed the Data pack due to crashing. It seems the only way to have overcome this was to delete you edit data. But you can't do anything now till they release DP2 again.

You can only play against opponents with the same DP. They need to fiz this soon.

Do you find the shooting weaker? Surely Konami aren't deliberately trying to sabotage the option files created by external sources. . . . or maybe i'm being paranoid.

I never even said I was going to edit my own transfers, only that I was thinking about it. I probably won't bother. And I haven't started a ML yet. I'll probably wait until I find a bit more info on possible transfer updates before deciding. But don't let that stop you from trying to argue with someone for absolutely no reason.

At no point did I actually say I'd started a ML tonight, you've completely invented that, but you just couldn't wait to jump down my throat because you wanted an argument..

Yeah I initially complained about having a patch but I was wrong on that (I was just annoyed about the whole transfers thing), and so far the gameplay has indeed been more enjoyable. The one thing that I didn't like from version 1.0 was that when you had the ball with a fast player you'd get caught easily by a much slower defender even when you were at full sprint. Well that seems to have been toned down and is now far more balanced. Players like Bale can get ahead down the wing now, and stay ahead, which makes such a huge difference. There are tiny tweaks here and there but they do make it better.

I just had a game as Newcastle v Norwich on Top Player with zero assists (I think superstar on zero assist is slightly beyond me to be honest) and it was great. Physical battles were perfectly balanced, both teams had periods of domination and though I won 2-0 I was clinging on in the second half. Both teams ended with 50/50 of the ball, just over 70% pass completion, it was great.

Yes, but I didn't get that far - it froze before asking me to save anything, then upon restarting I get stuck at the loading screen, and people have stated that deleting their edit file has solved the problem. I'll be waiting a few days to hear if any other solution becomes available obviously, as the last thing I want to do is lose this.

Yup, there it is, I said I MIGHT do some of the transfers myself. Not that I did. That I might. Nor that I'm starting a ML tonight. So seriously, stop trying to call me out about something that no-one remotely cares about!

I'd rather we all got along than bickering about stuff like that.

I think it's the exact same gameplay but tiny, tiny tweaks have been made. You'd have to look pretty hard for them but the experience does seem a bit more enjoyable :))

And I'm not sure why but I've become a bit of a beast at scoring headers. I've scored off crosses in every game I've played tonight!
