You
CAN play a proper League Mode in Community, that's why I've never really understood what all the fuss was really about. Sure they have taken the option off the front menu, but it's still more than available in Community Mode. It's as if people have never even used offline Community Mode in PES 2012. You can set up any League with up to 20 Teams, you can choose all the match settings, and all the teams. If you want all La Liga then pick all Spanish teams, if you want all English, same again.
If you wish to create your own Super League, either Eurpean or I guess even mixing in the Brasilian teams now, then you can do that. Or, if you wish, go National teams. You even have the option to pick your own fixtures and which order they are played. You can do this with either a solo campaign or up to 20 humans. It's all there. You can even name the league as well if you want, to keep it authentic. You have the Top Scorer and Assist charts on tap as well. It really isn't a big deal for those who do not wish to play 'Jimmy Grimble' in the Master League.
For those who are worried or concerned, create an offline Community in PES 2012 and have a look yourself.
What does concern and bemuse me, is the reason for omitting Community Mode from the initial release. That's very bizarre. It was a fantastic addition last year, and is a massive part of both Online and Offline PES single or multi-player gaming. It's crazy, I have no idea why that would be. It also means until it becomes available in DLC in October (WTF?), then offline single or multi-player leagues are out of the equation. Which is a fucker for my weekly PES Lads Night and the 2013 Premiere tomorrow night.
Calico, totally agree about the over-hit high cross-field balls, I'm loving how you have to weight them. Also try tapping square a direction and then R2 for scooped pass over the top over a short distance, I'm loving those in crowded areas. Shame that although the trajectory is from a scooped technique, the animation is more of a clip with no follow-through. I wish they would sort their shit out with that technique, it's my biggest pet hate.
The game is just beautiful, and I mean that from a pure footballing technique perspective. Zero assistance is a joy for me, so much more expressive freedom, with a lot more control. Drilling balls along the deck over 30 yards with L2 and power is a joy.
I'm loving the Right Stick and Left Stick combinations for the skills, they are very direction specific and I'm pulling off some lovely feints, as well as producing magic with R2. I even pulled off that Neymar half-flicked stepover off the intro video last night. Wished I'd have recorded it now.
Roll on tomorrow already !!
