Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......
Demo is great. Many similarities to PES12 however most changes are in the gameplay.
I use RT alone as make quick turns and trap. Don't hit RB until immediately after you turn with RT.
Ball Physics:
Ball physics feel heavy and great. Because of this, you need to power up your shots more to get some power and velocity behind it. At times though, the ball physics act erratic and it feels either too floaty, or too heavy. I beleive a balance is needed for final version.
Dribble:
Dribbling is great and looks more organic in my opinion. It's a lot of fun.
Heading:
Heading seems the same as previous versions, but responsive which is good.
Through Balls:
Through balls are a delight when performed on Manual. You can really split the defense with some great well-times through balls.
Collision:
Collision seems ok to me. Nothing out of this world but good enough not to ruin the game. I would like to see more stronger beleivable collission and feel it in my controller without the clunkyness.
Crossing:
Crossing is fine.
Player switching:
I have no problems with player switching on Semi. This on xbox ofcourse.
GK's:
Gk's perform some amazing realistic saves in this demo, however some of the past nuances are still there. Such as spilling the ball into an opposing player's feet. Doesn't happen often, but it happens.
Shooting:
Tried manual shooting for 10 matches and couldn't hit the target if my life depended on it. I got frustrated so I switch to auto shooting which seems fine to me and allowed me to score some nice goals and to enjoy the game.
Player ID is great. One thing though, you need to try playing this game on +2 speed. That's were the real movement of players becomes responsive and more natural. Although "0" speed and +1 speed is also very good and playable. Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Bolatelli, C.Ronaldo, Neymar, Rooney, and others are a joy to control.
Passing:
Passing is great, especially on Manual.
Defending:
Defending has been touched. I have no problems taking the ball away from a player by double-tapping "A", or squaring up with RT. Slide tackles are still the same, In future games, I would like to see more nasty lunges at players feet if I choose to be dirty like Van Bommel. I want to see and hear the impact of a hard, dirty, tackle.
Dash:
I don't have any problems with the Dash button execution. I have noticed that the players accelerate faster and run at a more noticeable full-pelt speed when you play on +2 speed.
Game will be a definite buy for me. Gameplay to me does feel a bit clunky however the positives far outweigh the negatives in this area. I also noticed that the graphics, though may appear to not have changed, have been polished because I am able to see more sharper details in certain things such as the players shoes, goal-nets, ball, stadiums and pitch.
The night games are still crap though. They really need to fix this and make night games look more natural with better lighting. I try to avoid night games because of this. Even the goal-nets look more gray and invisible on night games. Makes no sense at all. oh well...
Another little thing that I see as a negative is that the ball does feel light at times with no noticeable sound coming from a punt. Must be a glitch. Another glitch (on the xbox) is that there is a noticeable stutter when the ball crosses the goal-line. Don't these geeks at Nokami check and test the Demo for glitches/bugs before release??? Unbeleivable.
All in all though, the game is great. I just hope the players animations get tweaked some more to look more organic in the final product. And hope that they implement more camera options FFS!
I'm having a fun with the Demo, however I am aware that I still need to give it more playing-time because to this point, PES 5/6 are still the most fun and enjoyment I ever had on Winning Eleven Games. This Demo in my opinion is playable and fun, but it's still far from what I expect this series to be in 2012/13. There is still lots of room for improvement of this game in the coming years. I just hope those improvements in the coming years are major and not minor. I hope these portions of improvements are in large doses, not small. Especially in the gameplay area.
