PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

That's called poor collision system, and as long it doesn't lead to goals (which they do atm) we should be fine. Won't be fixed this gen. And I doubt it you won't see it as well on the Fox engine, since pretty much all "dynamic" games have this issue. Technology hasn't been able to deal with it 100%.

PS: To everyone feeling the CPU cheating (it's there), don't sprint at all (or just sprint when you have a clear cut chance). That cheating is actually triggered by you wanting to sprint past players, the AI boosts itself to deal with fast and strong players.

The problem is that you see players stumbling for lighter contacs in the game, even when they are running shoulder by shoulder the player with the ball stumble at times. What I ask here is that there should have at least an stumble animation that indicates that this was a foul, and a foul into the box: penalty.

This is an slide tackle from behind into the box, there's no need to a perfect collision system in the game to have a fair decision in this example.

But what about the game simply pulling off your defenders in the nick of time to allow their cpu-strikers some extra-space in my goal-area? Or the game letting the ball simply roll over my defender's feet to their strikers or right through the feet, ghostlike?

Or when you want to shoot the ball away with the goalkeeper after you passed back to him, and he shoots directly to the opponent's striker stomach who is two meters to the right of my goalkeeper? Of course the ball reflected perfectly from that stomach into the goal-net.

There are so many little cheating-things on top-player and superstar. Yes, they are a bit more subtle than in PES 2012, but they are there and this is just exhibition-matches. I'm already concerned about what will happen in the competitive matches.

Keepers are very good this year.

Joe hart won me the game on his own!

Also they have the sound of the ball hitting the ad boards spot on!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Regular. Never went to Top Player/Superstar. Last time I did this was on PES6. On new PES I find cheating is way too heavy in those.

If I get into grips with manual shooting/passing I will switch to PRO and that's it.

Lost my cool last time I did try Top Player ;) (that's why I wrote in yair25 patch that Top and Superstar must have cheating to make the game more balanced and hard to keep you occupied because it would turn boring fast otherwise).

Just my opinion though. Some people around here try too hard and I just want to enjoy the game after working frustrations :D.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

i really enjoy the games i am playing. There is absolutly no frustration whatsover.

does anyone know if there are many cheaters on pc? i played 2011 on ps3, then my ps3 broke. n that time i have encounter 1 cheater and 1 quiter in the hundreds of matches i played.

Enjoying the game but want to buy it on pc. so if anyone knows let me know.

Also want to mention that manual isn't really manual. l2 does nothing with powerbar. i don't mind it been stat based, but when i press it all the way full and it makes a lob then something isn't right.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

The passing is far from manual. I you want a taste of true manual passing pop in FIFA 10.

Thank God it isn't too manual. I was just struggling to put the right power on the ball, but now i'm loving it.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Have you been into the settings and changed the setting to 1080 (by default it's 720), also make sure it's on high.

See my video above, doesn't look appalling to me

Where is the option to cahnge the setting to 1080? Picture please?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

@DuduBr9 have u heard about scripting in Fifa 12? I have more than 1000 online matches in Fifa 12.If u want, ı can tell u something about that.If u call that position(your video) cheating which bores you,u can kill yourself by scripting..

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

This game is looking seriously good at the moment.. I was meant to play just 2 matches, ended up playing all night again, almost 10! :P

I'm getting the hang of it on the Top Player level.

The new R2 shooting animations and the ball curling are excellent! I'm playing a lot with C. Ronaldo, cutting inside and curling like mad! :D

The lobby through ball with L1 + triangle is working very fine too. I've played a handful of sensational passes with Deco today. And scored a belter from outside with Edinho, of all people! Ball ricochet inside off the crossbar. Amazing! Haven't scored one of those in ages.

Goalkeepers need some work though. When they charge forward to intercept crosses, many times the ball bounces back and high for a corner, in a very unrealistic way... when they should really be punching it forward.
And my main gripe continues to be with the weight on passes. Sometimes I want a pass to go faster and fill the bar high up, only for the pass to be lightly hit and intended to a player on the other side of the pitch, when in reality this was not what I wanted.
The only way to overcome this situation is by playing a manual pass. Then the pass is made with a really heavy touch. But I don't want to be pressing L2 all the time. And no, removing all bars of pass assistance doesn't seem to help this issue...

Nevertheless, this has the potential to be the best PES in this generation.

PS: I'm enjoying the game even more in a camera which is closer to the default one... but I'd still adjust it by zooming out like 10% of it... do you guys think we will be able to do so in the full version?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I must agree with the others who say that the Player Switching is an issue, before I've had a player nearest the ball that was loose, and I tapped L1 and it wouldnt take control of him.... tapped it about 5 times actually and it still wouldnt select that player nearest the loose ball ..... :(

I came on here to post about cameras. So far I haven't tried any custom camera angles on the PC, I've just being playing with wide cam. Tonight I switched to the 'long' camera (previously 'normal-long'), which is my usual gameplay cam and the game feels so much better. I like being a little closer to the action and I'm one of those people who plays with one eye on the radar. The game looks smoother and I can better appreciate the animations, flicks and tricks. Wide cam gives a greater field of vision but I find you lose the detail, not just graphically, but the little individual touches of each player which get lost from afar.

That's the camera I like most as well, long wide cam. You feel like you are directly on the pitch, much better football-feeling, dribbling and manual passing feels just awesome on that cam. And that you can't see everything on the pitch adds to the realism, cause real players also don't have that top-down-supervision.

Highly recommended.

And regarding the playerswitch-issue: This issue has actually two parts. Part 1 is the one most people recognize immediately as a problem, that sometimes you just can't select the player you want no matter how much you press the button.

But part 2 is imho even more problematic and that is the switching that happens when you play a pass into empty space, ie. a throughball or long pass and the game tries to guess who should be the recipient, then sometimes the wrong recipient gets chosen. It happens that the striker gets pulled off out of his position in the middle front to go to the wing, because the game thinks that a throughball or pass into the path of the wingman was meant for the striker. Very infuriating.

But what baffles me the most is why is it possible for Yair to fix playerswitching but not Konami?

I tried out yair's PES 2013-demo-patch and playerswitching is way more reliable.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

The game looks great on Normal Close I guess it is but it's not really playable that way. Too bad you can't customize.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Damn, there are so many new faces! :O

Newcastle for example have Ameobi, Demba Ba, Ryan Taylor, Steven Taylor, Pappis Cisse, Shane Ferguson, and more :O

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

blimp is the best camera on the demo for one reason: no silly godamn sway. it actually moves in line with play instead of staying in the middle and swaying left/right - those cameras totally mess up your angles

This.

I like the radar on the bottom and translucent.

The close cam would be great if we could tweak it to be close to the dynamic cam on FIFA. I think it needs to be a lower angle and a touch zoomed out and it would be great. Has anyone tried that with a camera tool? Or maybe adjusting the long cam to flatten it out a little.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Someone said the other day that the AI doesn't know where the touchline is. I actually have seen a couple of times where they've taken the ball over the line but it looked great because they had taken a touch too many on the dribble. Looked like an error in touch and not an AI problem. Also liking that there's a few more battles and turnovers, probably a result of the tackling mechanics.

One thing I'm really loving though is that 1 v 1's now feel more real than 2012. You can actually side foot the ball past the keeper like on 2011. Just beautiful. Hopefully we can still choose direction properly on the retail version :P

the bolded parts happened to me as well, i don't know if i must worry or not
at least (for now) there is no more players dribbling past defenders it seems, that was the most infuriating thing

i agree that we should feed it back to Konami, maybe they can still do something about it, but where should i put my feedback (aside wenb)??

Does Konami read this forum and take feedback from it?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

OK
i will put my feedback here

i will only focus about the negative elemets of this demo, the part of the game they must improve

- player switching: even on semi assisted is a real problem, especially while attacking. This MUST be fixed

- cpu cheating, weird rebounds giving advantage to CPU players

- it's too difficult to give desired direction to normal high crosses ( the ones executed with a single circle button press)

- too much difference between 0 and the rest of assistance bar setting (again like in pes 2012). While at 0 bars passing is too difficult at 1 bars it is too easy (especially through balls)

my rating to this demo is 7/10

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Are you talking crosses in the box?

I tried the way I used to do it on PES 2011. Pull down on the stick for near post, away from goal to hit the penalty spot, push towards the goal for the back post etc. Seems to work fine.

yes, i will try this way, thanks

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

No probs. And you can try LB/L1 plus cross for early cross but if you do it from a normal crossing position it might give you a nicer curl to it. I haven't tried it yet but the theory is sound :P lol

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

God I'm loving the game right now on Top Player. Superstar is deffo there to annoy you, but Top Player has a great balance to it (minus the somewhat static AI I mentioned before, that kinda makes it harmless sometimes. I hear that's a demo "issue" only).

I've now mastered passing (actually using 2bar because It feels really close to PES2011 passing), the incredible shooting, and as for defending, I'm doing it "manually" most of the time, meaning I'm just mixing no button presses at all with quick R1 taps.

Love the pace of the game, the build up, R2 dribbling, the through balls and how eager the players actually are to use all their body to trap, pass and shoot! Oh, and I haven't felt let down by a keeper mistake yet :D

Really happy right now.
