PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Oh and I KNEW the long pass thing in training mode was a bug! Fuckers had me trying that long pass on zero about 40 times.

Also, if ML has to be restarted for the teamwork stats to work correctly then screw this game. I've sunk weeks into my ML already without having to start from scratch.

Same here mate....... :(

The Teamwork stat thing shouldn't require a ML restart to work, not sure about the boots though.

Very true, the refereeing in PES is abysmal, it works both ways though. 3 times in the last week the CPU has played one of its infamous through balls and their CF was one-on-one with my GK, using my last defender i slide tackled the CF from behind, waist height, it was more assault than a tackle, and every time it was either a Free Kick or Penalty BUT, i only ever got given a yellow card.

There couldnt be a more prime example of a professional foul or a red card but none are given. yet Red cards are given for nothing tackles on the half way line.

its because of the random things that occur within the game.even online i am convinced that in a proportion of games there is something coded that decides the outcome of the game win lose or draw and it has nothing todo with you or your opponent. like, the other day iwas playing somebody online and i was convinced the game wanted me to lose because of the things happening AI etc when i scored a overhead kick wonder goal. i thought to myself how wrong could i be. 2 mins later he pumps a ball up field to ronaldo my defender wins the ball, ref gives a foul as the game lets him take a quick free kick, the player who tackled ronaldo and another of my defenders close by both run up the pitch, for no apparent reason. as the whistle had gone for a foul, allowing him to tap it forward to benzema who is not offside, because my left full back is playing benzema onside, marking no one on the opposite side of the pitch, and he scores to make it 2=1. again nothing i could do about it just random actions and piss poor AI. so in the end i was right along the game was determined to make me lose.
these are the things that happen quite regular and really pisses me off because they have done nothing to fix problems like this over the last 4 years at least,

Glad our petition hit the mark and konami are doinmg sweet fuckall about it. How about an anti spam filter to stop constant throughballs. Seriously Konami if it weren't for my PSN list PES would be DEAD.

no mention of league mode coming back or fixing piss poor AI or gks or player switching or scripted matches online or, or shall i go on.
not good enough konami piss poor customer service. will not make me buy this 100%.
pes 2014 better be something special otherwise i bet i aint the only one not buying it, if certain things are not fixed or implemented!!!

It's a complete shambles. Konami could easily patch-in the three things most people want....

- league mode
- 2v2 mode
- traditional master league, minus fantasy boots

...but they don't care. I don't care what anyone says, it's piss-poor on Konami's part. These are all easy fixes. They patched-in a whole Copa Lib mode in the past for christ's sake!

It seems the new patch won't fix neither ML/BAL bugs nor passing ball to the keeper without changing cursor on 0-bar glitch. But sure they'll add "several changes in gameplay" as always.

Is that a 0-bar glitch? I just thought it was a new gameplay thing. Even if it didn't make any sense.

My thoughts exactly.

I need to give PES 2013 a little credit after I have been struggling with it. I was playing ML with Liverpool against United, and I knew Van Persie would be an utter git to defend against. As it turned out he got them 0-2 ahead, but after an amazing game I won 4-3. I was pleasantly surprised to see an actual complement by my assistant as she said the fans had been chanting my name. And that Reina came to me and told me the players were having such great chemistry that it was like they were all telepathic. Which was pretty funny. So now I'm back to wanting to play the game more. At least for now

Just out of interest how many people here play on Superstar? I have been, and like I've said in another thread, I don't know why. I never, ever play other games on their hardest difficulty. I'd never even consider playing Gears of War on Insane, one-shot kill difficulty yet I somehow get sucked into PES on it's toughest level.

Never again though. It cheats, and it decides the outcome of your game for you. In my ML I don't really feel in control of my game. I won 12 of my first 14 league games in ML, then all of a sudden for four games in a row the CPU comes out like it's on crack, sprinting everywhere, barging you off the ball, swarming you with multiple players all over the park, then hitting robotic ping pong passes and scoring off one shot at goal. Suddenly that's 4 losses in a row. I then play the league leaders, in a promotion six-pointer, and it feels like it's gone somehow back to normal again. I thump the league leaders 4-1.

Next match, to a team way down the league, at home, with all my players on red and yellow arrows for a change, and the CPU comes out like a robot again. I'm 2-0 down in half an hour and again I witness the most bullshit goals.

I just wish the CPU on Superstar could actually manufacture itself a goal that isn't questionable. They seem to always come from shitty deflections, moments of bizarre Messi-like dribbling out of nowhere and with a lowly rated player, or, more commonly, it benefits from the controls conveniently going completely wrong.

Take this game for example. Again, I was through on goal early on, with an 81-rated striker, on a yellow arrow. bearing down on goal, I press shoot. The power bar charges. Then for no reason nothing happens. The power bar stays on screen, like it's jammed or something, and I no longer have control over him because the input of the command seems to have failed and left him in some kind of in-between stasis. So, with the power bar charged, he doesn't kick the ball, and he carries on jogging until the keeper dives at his feet. Brilliant.

Moments later, the CPU knocks a long ball 50 yards. It wins the knock down, as it always magically manages to do. It falls for another striker. He hits a shot that is going wide, cannons off the face of my CB, which then hits the backside of my other CB, which then directs straight into the net. My keeper, for some reason, just stands still and watches it roll into the net.

Then, a short while later, the CPU crosses the ball, it wins the header, which hits the post. The CPU attacker then gets up super fast and heads straight for the ball, and knocks it unopposed into the empty net. Why? Because my CB, Garay, rated at nearly 80, an Argentina international, who is also on a yellow form arrow, thinks rather than following up the rebound, he'll just go for a nice stroll in the opposite direction.

YouTube - PES

Here, the CPU is clearly cheating. There is no issue with player ability, or player form. It's just the CPU deciding to 'shuffle' an obstacle out of the way so it can easily score.

This sort of shit goes on all the time on Superstar and I've had enough. It's a broken, cheating mess. And that's not even beginning on the issues and bugs present in ML this year.

:((

I've just read those notes properly and noticed that there was indeed a bug meaning finances in ML don't reflect properly. This has seriously affected my club's finances in ML and left my club in the shit, two seasons in. Plus, none of my players increase teamwork stats work. After dropping from say 70 down to 40 it takes years to rise back up. This is indeed another bug.

So I have the choice of playing the game post-patch with an absolute host of bugs, or downloading the patch with that stupid fucking widget and worse gameplay. Plus, it'll be near the beginning of December and I'll STILL be waiting for a fully functional game. I'm tempted not to bother now.

I can only presume they've just not bothered with this year's game because they were working on the next one before this year's game was completed. I guess that's a two way thing - it might mean we get a great game next year, but it's also pretty disgusting that they put minimal effort into this year's edition and sell it at full price. With all the issues it should have been a budget game at least.

I mean the game came out in September and it will be Dcember at the earliest before we have a fully functional master league mode, with working data patches etc.

Slightly offtopic
These are opinions from square enix japanese workers

"For each project, each position is then turned into a clique, and without a big time creator's recommendation, it's impossible to get ahead," wrote one employee in his late 30s. "One's practical worth isn't really looked at, but rather, personal friendship is how merit is assessed."

"You're given so much work, and the atmosphere is that if you cannot keep up, they'll axe you," wrote a 24 year-old employee. "There's a tendency to ask workers to do more physical labor than mental labor."

"There's dissatisfaction with the salaries and the auditing system. Motivation is low because the ways to move ahead in the company are not clear. Because producers are unable to clearly express their visions for games, the titles must be reworked over and over. That's related to games missing their release dates."

Do you think this is what happens inside Konami, too? Maybe this is the reason of many awful decisions made by Konami?

Bit speculative we can't say what happens behind closed doors also don't forget EA are non the better we like to think that PES is the almighty evil but this generation is plagued with incomplete games. Look at COD on the PS3 the game is hardly dofferent from the previous iiterations and plagued with bugs on the PS3.

Seriously guys there's still an enjoyable game far from perfect but enjoyable.

As for the scripting I find playing on -1 is more controllable and a helluva lot more enjoyable.

suuuuupertalk m8 that thing with your defender running away from the ball,
I see it all the time especially in online matches and more so when i play the best team in the game real madrid for some reason.its been there for the last 4 yrs and they have done zilch about it or they are unable to fix it.bet you dont see the cpu doing stupid shit like that.i have been bangin on about the piss poor AI of your team mates for ages its really shocking.
also what is in this years game cud have been implamented in last years version with a patch. to charge full price for a half arsed unfinished product is nothing short of daylight robbery, it really is.no wonder john murphy stopped posting on twitter. i really hope next years version is the game that we all want but i seriously have my doubts, considering there recent track record. and there is no way, i will be purchasing it till i know fully whats in it and whats been left out. especially after leaving league mode out of this years version, now that was absolutely criminal.is konami's motto "less is more"

Either way, I'm done with it now. Absolute broken piece of shit. This is by far the worst PES they've released. Not in terms of gameplay, but everything else is totally fucked.

- BAL doesn't work. There are plenty of threads and posts on how this is bugged to shit.
- There is no league mode.
- Master League has so many issues it defies belief.

So, Master League. The mode has been stripped down from previous seasons.

- You can no longer have any input into developing your club off the field. No investment choices in marketing, or quality of your youth squad.

- Although player and chairman interaction was not implemented properly in PES2012, both have been completely stripped out of this.

- All the default ML players and youth players have ridiculously stupid names. Same goes for the Div 2 players. Anyone fancy signing 'Carlsmental' per chance?

- Teamwork is utterly broken. Sign a player who's teamwork is on 75, it'll drop instantly to 40. And there it stays. It might increase about a point per season, but if you want to sign any players, ever, then your ML team will forever suffer from being disjointed and rely on star players. I don't give a shit if Konami say this is going to be patched near the beginning of December. The game's been out for ages now.

- Internationals take place on a Friday, 24-hours before a match. What the fuck is wrong with Konami? Just programme the fucking friendlies to be either on the Tuesday or Wednesday of that week, so there are rest days in-between, or have them take place at the weekend and don't have any other matches scheduled for that week. I mean seriously, who the fuck cannot ever, ever see this at Konami, year after year?

- Injuries. I haven't had a single injury of any description in nearly two seasons in ML. Not one. So that's broken then.

- Form. Ahh, form. Totally random, and a device used by Konami to mess up your game. They even state on their official website how vital form is to your team. Funny then that my player can score a hat-trick and yet the following match he's on a purple arrow. And then again the following week after that.

I signed a goalkeeper in season one. His form rating is 7 out of 10. I had a shitty coach with a form rating of 2 out of 5. Sitting in mid-table, my keeper didn't have one purple arrow in an entire season.

During season two, I then signed a new coach for a ton of cash with a form coaching rating of 3 out of 5. So he's better than the last coach. Yet oddly, my keeper is suddenly purple every other match. Not only that, but the form arrows actively target areas of your squad so you can't replace them. I'll often find for a tough away match, that both my keepers in my squad will be purple. Or ALL my CB's and my star forwards. Or ALL my midfielders at once.

Add to that, now that I'm in the run-in to the season, with seven games remaining and three points off the top, it's gone to extreme levels. I just lost a vital match because BOTH of my keepers were on purple. And my two CB's. Skip forwards to my next match, and again, both keepers are on purple, along with another FIVE first team players. The game is hardly worth even playing. Any shot on goal will go in, and all five of my best players won't be able to compete physically or pass straight.

I think it must be seven or so games in a row now, right at the time of the season where I need results, and the game does this. A minimum of a third-to-half of my first team are blue or purple every single week. And this is despite having a better form coach who is costing me half a million quid a season.

- Aside from that, there is actually NOTHING to do in ML except allocate items and boots to players. You skip from one match day through the entire week and play another game.

- And oh yeah, boots. I was awarded three pairs during season one, I've been awarded NONE in the whole of season two. Fair.

- Transfers. I signed four players of a good standard for the league I'm playing in. After that, the game says there are no transfer targets and an advanced search shows that no players in the entire game world are more than 2% interested in joining. So, let's clear that up. As a Div 2 side, with a minute fan base, mid-table, I can persuade 80-rated players to join my club on free transfers. Sign four of them, go to the top of the table, on the verge of promotion, I've doubled my fanbase, and now not even a player rated at 45 is more than 1% interested in joining my club. WTF?

- Finances. The finance screen doesn't update properly at key times, meaning that you have no idea what your profit margin or available funds are at any given time.

All in all ML is a total mess. There are a string of issues broken with the game, and playing my promotion run-in, which should be fun, is a tiresome chore because it keeps trying to fuck with my game and making half of my entire side on purple arrows week after week. I just lost because of it, skip another week, go to my next game, then find again everyone is totally off-form and next to useless. I can't see any point in playing the fucking thing, even on a lower difficulty.

I just don't have the enthusiasm to play yet ANOTHER match in my ML where I'm battling to stop the game from making players on purple arrows do stupid stuff.

It's beyond belief. I wish I could just play a frickin' league mode and set all players to have green arrows across the board.

I then thought to myself, screw it, I'll just play a league or something as Arsenal. Nope. No league mode either.

come back to pes6 mate, youll fall in love with football games again when our phoenix patch is released;)

come back to pes6 mate, youll fall in love with football games again when our phoenix patch is released;)

I can only presume that all their resources have gone into PES2014. It must be. There have always been issues with PES on this generation but never really have game modes and Master League in particular been so bugged. Basic ML stuff has just worked.

I mean, people complained about form in the other games, but the reality was that the more people played together, or the better the coaches you signed, or the better the player's form rating, it would gradually improve over time.

Not so in this game. I see a clear correlation between your success and form arrows working against each other. Don't play so well, form arrows are generally okay, but play well and win games, it'll try to nerf your season by making all your players blue or purple. It's so stupid.

I'm beginning to suspect that form arrows are perhaps linked to good teamwork, which is of course bugged and being patched. But I'm fed up with waiting for fixes, patches, it's a constant stream of stuff being 'corrected' by Konami, from game stuff to data packs to option files. What a mess.

In fact I just simmed the remaining games of my ML season, checking the form arrows before each game. At least five of my first choice starting eleven were on purple arrows for the remainder of the season. Brilliant!

I win promotion and my captain then slaps in a transfer request. A ton of clubs come in to buy him, as he's now a 91-rated right-back. The highest offer I get is £3M. For a 91 rated player. Jonny Evans, rated at 79, went to a club elsewhere for £16M. Yet my players all get crazy low bids.

And oh yeah, I forgot, there isn't even the facility to set your own estimation on how much a player is worth. So I can't say, okay, I'll transfer list you, but you're not going for anything under £12M. Nope. The game decides for me that he's only worth £1.5M and some clubs bid £3M. So I'm left with the choice of accepting the bid and virtually giving him away, or keep him, see him unhappy and presumably off-form (though he will be anyways) and then he leaves for nothing when his contract expires.

Brilliant again.

I also recall how ML no longer has player-exchange deals. Or how you can't negotiate contract renewals. If a player wants a certain amount for a new contract, if you don't immediately accept it, he'll just instantly put his contract on hold and leave on a free at the end of the season. No negotiations. Nothing.

I also noticed how you get gate receipts for home games. Why is it then that during each pre-season, you play a number of high prestige friendlies at home, yet you don't get a penny for them?

Sorry for ranting but it was once my favourite game mode anywhere in any game, and Konami have utterly butchered it. How can it be THIS basic and primitive? I mean FFS I can't even, as a club manager, set a value for how much I think my players are worth? Really Konami?

i still play pes 6 now and again a patched version on the ps2.
back in the day there were not enough hours in the day to play this game.
for its time it was brilliant.will have a look when your patch is finished m8!!

I'm not excusing the lack of, or poor quality of the game modes in PES 2013, that is inexcusable.

But to throw it on the scrapheap and label it as one of the worst of the series is ridiculous.

From a footballing perspective, the gameplay is (on 0 assistance anyway) well above and beyond anything we've seen from PES or FIFA, ever.

If you try to appreciate what's there rather than bemoan what isn't, then PES 2013 does have a lot to offer on the pitch.

I don't need league tables and transfers to enjoy a football game to be honest.

If I feel like I want that kind of experience, I'll play FM because it's far better in that regard and always will be because that's what it's dedicated to.

Football doesn't have to have any context to be enjoyable - I'm sure all of us used to have meaningless kick abouts with our mates throughout our childhood/teenage years and couldn't get enough of it.

That's all I really use PES for these days, to get my football fix by playing random people in meaningless games just to enjoy the football for a couple of games after I get home from work or uni. From my experience, no issues with online play (except the ease of through balls, but that's a gameplay issue).

I can hardly play the CPU in any game and enjoy it either, especially sports games - I don't feel any sense of achievement for outwitting some (lazily) pre-programmed code.

As I said though, it's not acceptable how they've gone backwards in terms of game modes (removal of 2v2 especially), but it's not all bad this year.

Much in the same camp as Rob. LTFC any reason why you aren't online? I really. Is a hrea experience against like minded players the things you can do wih the ball are mind boggling.

Not excusing PES game modes though but I gave up on ML a long time ago. The form arrow thing has been a bug bear since PES on the old gen. The AI as well has also been pretty pooor and along with the scripting.

I understand where you're coming from Rob, I used to exclusively play PES socially with my flat mates, but now I expect a good offline package of game modes. I can live with ML being stripped down so long as it works properly, but it doesn't. I bought the game mainly to play ML so I guess that straight away makes our priorities for what we expect from the game slightly different.

Zee, I never go online because the rare occasions I have with PES, it's been laggy and everyone just aims to exploit the game. I know there is the PEEL leagues etc but I just want a decent career mode to be honest.

I know a few people who have given up on ML, the form arrows have always been randomised but this year it's WAY worse. I slimmed the rest of my ML season just to see if the arrows improved during my last 7 games, my keeper and at least 4 or my top players were purple, week in, week out.

I then tried a ML experiment with Spurs and all the original lineups. Even with world famous players, a £5M a year world class coach, and £150M in the bank,my first game of the season, a champions league qualifying match, Lloris, Dawson, Bale, Adebayor and Lennon were all on purple arrows and several others on blue. Next game, same thing again.

But the main issue is actually how mind bogglingly stupid it is that the player isn't allowed to set how much they think their player is worth. I'm pretty sure you could even do that in the PS2 days. So, in my proper ML with Benfica, I had all my top players celebrating promotion by handing in transfer requests and me being forced to accept bids about a quarter of what they should have been going for, just because the CPU set the asking price for me.

I'm hoping it's another engine limitation and lack of manpower at work with this version. But next year really is the final chance where I'm concerned. If the game doesn't have a vastly improved ML, less blatant cheating on higher difficulties and graphics and animations that are up to date with what other games are achieving with this hardware, then that'll be it where I'm concerned.

I'm in my second season in ML, with Juventus.
I haven't had that experience with the form arrows at all. The complete opposite in fact.

Do you use the original, proper Juventus team with good coaches etc? I thought having this at Spurs might solve the issue but it seems as consistent as ever.

Sadly we are all different and like different things.I want to play a realistic campaign mode in my football games, and it's really disappointing and due to our passion for the sport and the game that this kind of mistakes are made. If you can't understand different people prefer different things, then IDK what to tell you.
Of course I understand that different people prefer different things, that's a basic human function.

We have never had a realistic campaign mode on a PES game to date, even PES in it's supposed prime (PES5/6) didn't have good offline features.

The ML has never been any good or anywhere near realistic - Two divisions (D2 being half a league for many years), random form, badly implemented stamina system among countless other failings. You used to be able to almost go whole seasons without the CPU scoring a single goal against you on the highest difficulties etc.

So if you bought this version of PES with the hope of a realistic campaign mode, then IDK what to tell you, because that was never going to happen.
