PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

usually on world class or one lower. think its normal. but i tried superstar this morning and i managed to play 0:0 with munich against valencia.

ill find my final difficulty setting when i have 10 or 15 min matches going! and maybe in 6 month i will go all out superstar! ;)

btw: what a rocket by kroos! :D i want to play CL soooo badly right now!

i lowered the difficulty to get used to it then put it back up :))
then ended up taping L2 down, with 0 bars passing and manual shooting..
takes abit of getting used to but is so much more realistic.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

OK, before I shut up about this subject, let me say clearly why something seems fishy.

1. Konami added a new feature to ML which they seemed to realise would be very unpopular with the hardcore fanbase, because rather than trumpeting it in pre-release publicity like any other innovation, they kept completely silent about it. They didn't even tell their number one cheerleader, who only knew about it when he got his preview code - in fact, they hauled him over the coals for going public a few weeks before release.

2. Unlike every other feature in ML since the beginning of time, Konami fixed it so this can't be switched off, so anyone who doesn't like magic boots etc can't get out of it that way.

3. They removed League Mode so that anyone who doesn't like magic boots etc can't get out of it that way.

4. There are suggestions that they've removed offline Community mode so that anyone who doesn't like magic boots etc can't get out of it that way. Even if they haven't, it means you have to go through a weirdly convoluted process to play a non-magical league.

5. Why, when Konami seemed to know that this feature would be hugely unpopular, did they take so many steps to ensure you couldn't switch it off - to the point of completely removing popular longstanding game modes, thus diminishing PES 2013 as an overall package?

6. Any possible answer to that question is very worrying and/or very depressing, don't you think?

I totally agree with your thoughts on this matter. I'm still livid about it myself.

The theory that Konami removed league mode to redirect players into the new, sponsor-driven master league is one that was put out there when the news first hit by myself and others. To me the 'bootgate' scandal and league mode removal go hand-in-hand. The latter is a consequence of the former. Konami did this for a reason. They didn't just forget to include league mode.

Unfortunately there are too many apologists on here and in the PES community in general. League mode offered something that cannot be replaced within community mode or master league, no matter what anyone says.

I cancelled my pre-order today. I'm going to try demo 2 before I buy and then wait until October to see what the DLC brings, then make a decision then. I'm not buying an incomplete game where I've been denied the opportunity to try a more advanced build.

This is all such a shame because the gameplay is great this year. Potentially the best it has ever been. Then Konami go and fuck up completely.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Well, the cheating is still in. CPU plays a through ball, I'm the CB running and easily going to pick up the ball .... nope! The computer, for no reason whatsoever, DRAGS my player to the left and AROUND the the oncoming striker almost like there's a forcefield around him that I can't get near. Once the striker runs onto the ball, I'm allowed to control the CB again.

Which obviously doesn't matter at that point as the computer has done its job and the striker scores.

PES has some real bullshit moments at times, scripting bollocks like that has no place in games these days. They should work on proper AI rather than handicapping the player, especially so blatantly.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

after 10-15 matches, this game is a better version of 2012, much more complex at least, i enjoy it so far, we will see after 100-200 games ;)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

The assistance is so much more apparent with the better passers of the ball, therefore highlighting a bigger gulf between those that are competent and those that are not. It stands to reason, it's the nature of the philosophy. Arguably the biggest factor is weight, but direction plays a big part with the through-ball variants. There are also new passing based Player Cards.

Play with Riqelume on 1 or 2 Bars, then try him on Zero, he stands out like a sore thumb on the demo, with both the simple and clever stuff.

1-bar pretty much assists every players weight of pass, Zero does anything but.

I'll tell you what Jimmy, I'll give it a go this time around. Gave up on it fairly rapidly last year as it was too inconsistent, although I hear they've fixed that. Still, I think I'd rather more differentials in accuracey then weight but nevermind.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I'm not a fan of this Manual shooting, I think it's shit. It certainly doesn't feel stat-related in the same way the passing does. Not for me, thanks.

Totally agree with this. I'm as big a zero passing assistance evangelist as anyone, but manual shooting is bollocks. It's not just the lack of stat effect, it's that such a tiny percentage of the arc of the stick actually points at the goal. This means that you can't express yourself with shooting - you just have to get the stick into precisely the right tiny area and hope for the best.

You can actually shoot sideways, at a 90 degree angle, if you jerk the stick a little too far (which no professional footballer in the world would ever do). If you get the stick movement slightly wrong you should miss, sure, but when was the last time you saw a shot go directly sideways instead of forwards, or at least towards the same compass point as the goal? It's not a matter of "oh, learn to shoot properly" - it's that it shouldn't work like that, even for the very worst shots. Yes, in real life you can spoon an attempt in completely the wrong direction. But no one has ever unleashed a solid, powerful shot which went off at a 90 degree angle to the way they were facing, and the direction in which they were meant to be aiming. It's not even possible. Not without overbalancing and falling on your arse, and possibly doing yourself a mischief.

In normal shooting, you miss by aiming a bit too far to one side relative to your position, by mistiming your shot, or by shooting when not properly balanced. That's how it should be.

I didn't see these older posts you mentioned (I've been away) but yeah, I think this is 100% correct and it's a total fucking scandal. I'll probably still get PES 2013 because I mostly play online in various communities, but I can't see myself bothering with offline play at all this year, and I'm really upset about that - and genuinely disgusted that Konami are behaving like this. There's no justification whatsoever - I can understand people trying to look on the bright side, but anyone actually making excuses for Konami on this issue (or worse, having a go at those who are complaining) seriously needs to check their head. Konami have rewarded those of us who kept PES alive through the lean years - when they were incapable of producing even a halfway-decent game, or just too lazy to bother - by taking the corporate cash and giving us the finger. It's an absolute piss-take, and if they're allowed to get away with this then God only knows what PES will look like in three years. Or if it will even exist.

Looking at the various bits of news, I can only see confirmation that the Community Mode DLC in October covers online play. No suggestion whatsoever - anywhere - that this DLC will deliver an offline Community Mode. I think we're screwed.

That happened all the time in Demo 2. It's pathetic. They're not even trying to make it look like the computer isn't cheating.

I agree when people say that a lot of the "cheats" are actually realistic situations badly represented due to limited animation. Things like this aren't though, they're just blatant cheating. Are you supposed to look at it and go "oh ho ho, naughty computer - I'll get that back!" and jovially shake a fist? It's bloody ridiculous in 2012. Sure there has to be some bending of the rules for the AI to provide a challenge, but...

I'm still waiting to hear whether scripting and "momentum" is still in for 1v1 games. This was the single most ludicrous, pointless and enjoyment-killing innovation from PES 2012 - as though anyone thought that 1v1 games were just too fair, and could be improved by blatantly weighting the game one way or another so it wasn't an actual contest. I'll be amazed if it isn't still there, to be honest.

Ummmmmm... sorry if I sound "negative". I hope I'll enjoy this new game (what I can play of it). This stuff is a disgrace, though.

Some people forget that even if custom leagues are available in community mode (and we don't even know that yet), you don't get the cup integration and full authenticity of league mode.

I still intend to pick up PES2013 but I'll probably wait for a price drop. I'm out of the country for the first couple of weeks in October so hopefully when I get back the muddy water that is league mode will be clearer.

this is a computer game with human input, not real life. if a a pes player cant aim for dick then his shots deserve to go well wayward.

you say you advocate manual passing - can you not totally miss hit you passes into no mans land? whats the difference between passing and shots? i'll answer: your skill

be bad at manual shooting - you will miss a lot
be bad at manual passing - you will miss a lot

all L2 is doing for me right now is improving dribbling! i might try using it for crosses as they need some tweaking.

that comment about manual shooting not counting in stats, several of you made here, will let me try assisted shooting tomorow!

Played the demo again tonight as full game is in post tonight.
I just don't know. One minute I love it then I hate it.
Keeper animations are really poor but aside from that I'm gutted what's happened with the leagues.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Konami's complete blackout of community questions is what pisses me off the most.

thats only until you can play it. then you are distracted! but a week later... you will be angry again! ;)

but you are right. what if they never answer!? just a release in silence!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

any idea how to perform the "nutmeg" shot, pisses me off its the only challenge that i cant complete

You must to kick the ball inside the penalty area, otherwise the goalkeeper reacts differently and the ball will not pass through his legs.

That´s the great thing of PES, like football in real life. Sometimes you love a match and other times you get bored, but you never loose your ilusion to watch footabll matches.
I´ve got the game and that´s exactly what I feel. I like it. Althought I nedd a camera tool for better playing.

Have felt that way with PES for several years now, really. I'll be looking on here to see how you (and others) feel about the final game before I decide to buy it or not next week. Like me you don't seem completely sold on PES 2013.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Had a few goes on the full PC version tonight. Played 3 x 15 min games.

Feels slow, rigid and not much off the ball movement. Not for me this year unfortunately. There are some things it does well, but not enough to keep me coming back for more. Feels so dated.

Maybe when a decent OF is out to update Aquilani from the LFC team....jeeze that's BAD.

I will give it a few more goes until the other game is out for sure, but I don't think it's going to be the one for me.

thats the thing, you shouldnt have to force yourslf to like any game and it sounds like that some in here are putting up with alot more than really they should be,at the end of the day its a "game" to be enjoyed not to be tortured with

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

played a few more games with a friend tonight, not sure i agree with all the gameplay praise the game is getting. Good AI and gameplay patch of pes 2012 but i feel there is still a lot of work to be done. More specifically:

- Players repositioning during any action is a bit weird, they all look like ants trying to find their proper path. You can almost feel the algorythm, not very immersive to see
- Off the ball diagonal runs were much more noticeble in demo 1 imho. They seemed to have been toned down
- Keepers were meant to be the great addition of the year (i even got an email from konami about that), but there are pretty much the same animation wise.
- Way to many CBs stopping or being off position ( a problem which has plagued the serie for quite some time now). Back in the ps2 days CB would intercept most through balls, now they suffer from collective amnesia.
- Crossing really needs some new animations
- I am not sold on the manual passing/shooting, seems a bit random too many times and passing does not feel 360 at all even on 0 bars
- I think ball physics could use a lot of work

And my biggest complain: It has been made arificially slow. I mean fundamentally it is the same fast direct all fun experience that pes 2012 was but it has been slowed down in some elements (ball physics, some players movement). The result is a weak one: it is by no mean in his core a game thought for deep strategical thinking of patiently waiting for an opening, it is just slowed down for the sake of it. Not quite sure it helps the gameplay overall. it makes it weird.

Anyway I think it will be pretty addictive on line but i really don't feel the single player experience can be much of an enjoyment over some time.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

By the way, some tell konami inter did not qualify for the champions league...

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I was having a look today at the league structures in ML and BAL and i am really disappointed on how KONAMI made leagues work this year.
I will give you a specific example so that you all will understand what i mean.

Let's say that like most people do, we will turn the PES League into a fully licenced Bundesliga, and the WE League into any 2 division european league (for example Serie B).
Now let's see what happens at every choice we made in BAL or ML depending on if we want to play in south america or in europe.

ML in europe will be just perfect (if of course in this case you choose the combo Serie A + Serie B)

ML in south america will be a problem because the PES League will be played in south america (meaning that in our example the Bundesliga teams will qualify for Copa Libertadores) and WE League (in our case Serie B) will play as a second division for brasilian league)

BAL do not matter where you choose to play (if i remember well, the game do not asks you, just put you in a team as always) since the PES League (in our case Bundesliga) will be in europe (which is ok) and the WE League will became a new league that plays in south america (not as a second division for brazil, but exactly a first division like for example liga argentina) with his own cup too!!! In our case we will have Serie B teams fighting to qualify for Copa Libertadores!!!

KONAMI this year really fucked up everything with offline fun, specially for people like me that truly like to play a lot of BAL and ML and to often change teams and leagues. I am depressed...
