What difficulty are you using? I am playing ML on top player with the original ML line up along with these stupid wonder kids you get given and am finding it very easy. The AI is tame at best, I beat Sunderland at home in the cup 2 - 0 and they had 3 shots altogether with just 1 on target, that team has very good stats far better than mine. I then went and played Arsenal away in the next - round and got beat 1 - 0, the goal was a corner and also about the only shot on target. I had 69% possession... Against Arsenal.... At the (fake)Emirates.
I guess you're either a PES superstar or you're using tactics which confound the CPU. Do your games look realistic in terms of the actual play?
I'm using Top Player, and everything's pretty sweet at the moment. Before I moved up to Top Player, I had 60-70% possession in every game even when I lost, and it was a similar story to what you describe. I'm pretty happy with how things are right now - I have between 45 and 60% possession in an average game, which is about right for a good-but-not-amazing passing side like Villarreal. I could still have 65% possession every game if I sat back and passed around the backline, but I lose the ball more easily now when I come forward.
I'm also playing 30 minute games, which is great. There's a certain amount of scripted "throttling" on 30 minute games to stop every match ending 9-7 or something - you (and the CPU) are artificially stopped from scoring too many goals, but it's done quite subtly with unlucky bounces and little tugs from behind and stuff like that, rather than the kind of obvious cheating AI we've seen in the past. Feels very natural the way you have to keep working and not everything comes off for you - there is a certain amount of luck in real football after all - but if you do something absolutely perfectly then you will be rewarded. It doesn't cramp your style or get frustrating, it actually makes the whole thing feel more real and less arcadey. Last six games ended 0-0, 2-1, 2-0, 1-1, 3-2 and 1-4. No problems there.
I think I'd find Top Player easy if I was playing as Barcelona, but then I guess Barcelona find most games quite easy. Villarreal are a pretty good team to play with - they're not world-beaters but they're a nice passing side with a great tricky winger in Santi Cazorla, and I usually play Rossi alone up front, so when he keeps dropping deep or going out wide as centre forwards do in this game, it looks realistic (he does that in real life). I've been dominating against Malaga or Levante, struggled to a low-score draw against the more physical approach of Athletic Bilbao, and got outplayed away at Porto. Often I find the opposition has one really good player who's hard to handle, but Porto's very attacking approach and fast dribbly wingers made my defence look slow and old (especially as it was one of those games where almost the whole squad's on a downer, and I had to play two of my back four plus the goalie on down arrows).
No idea why you're finding it so easy. Are you lapsing into "computer game" football rather than "real" football? Accidentally or deliberately over-exploiting the green zone bug? I'm not casting aspersions, I'm just trying to think why that might be happening.
