PES 2011 Discussion thread

The new defending system is not useless as in your case it gets used but it is definitely not necessary, running into people with no thought for timing works perfectly, unfortunately.

This is what I used to do in the demo to avoid fouls, it's not foolproof however, the CPU can sometimes storm through your defence with a quick player if you do it manually, and in an online context it can be risky too.

What Boots And Balls are in there in the retail version, do we have nike balls? and can we choose them for friendly match?

Made a short video of all my tackles in one match on 5 stars in the WE demo.
All tackles are made by simply running into the opponent, none were called as fouls. There are 1 or 2 that are lucky with their good timing but most are just running into people and geting the ball. One was missed because of half time where the defender walked square on into Muller as he was running into the box and the ball got poked away and Muller went flying, no foul.

This is true with the PC full version as well. I don't even bother with the new defending system because I don't need to. You can run into the man and take the ball from him without pressing any buttons, and it's more effective than actually using the new system.

Renders the whole defensive system pointless.

How are the pass and run speeds?

They're awful on the PC version. I edited players down to where I had them on PS3 PES 2010, same stats, and the game is still too fast on default. I was working with pass speeds from about 58-68 on last years game, but it makes little difference with 2011. I edited one player down to 40 on his short and long pass speeds, and still it was too fast.

Shooting is also overpowered on PC full version.

The tactics in this game are really ruining it for me so far. Playing as Chelsea and the players are constantly out of position. For example, Anelka keeps ending up all over the pitch, often dropping really deep into the centre of midfield, even though I have adjusted the team style in the tactics menu it still keeps happening. The movement of your team mates is shocking this year such as when I got the ball out wide playing as Newcastle the right back had p[ossetion but Routledge kept making runs into the middle when he should have been getting down the wing!

go into edit mode and turn off or change some of the player cards,im 100% sure these cards are the reason for this problem

so what platform are you playing the game on pc or ps3? and which one is better?

Seriously considering coming back to PES this year having left the series after PES 6 as I am very dissapointed with FIFA 11. I like the slow speed they have adopted this year but the passing is lacking zip both for ground passes and aerial balls. I'm going to download the demo today to try it but what are overall thoughts on the full game for those that have it....is my beloved PES back to form?

Imho PES 2011 is not only back to form, it's also the best PES ever, better even than my loved PES 5.

It has some bugs, but PES 5 had bugs, too, and Konami have promised to iron out the bugs... so no big deal actually. Except for the nets which won't be made like they should be until PES 2012 comes along.

I've been in the same situation as you (played FIFA after PES6), and I would say that PES is absolutely back with a bang this year from my experience on the demo :). Friday can't come soon enough! :D

I loved PES 5 too :) So what would you say are the main improvements and what is the ai like? I may consider getting the PC version as I'm buying a new gaming rig but in the meantime I could get it for xbox 360, any problems with this version? Thanks

It seems that the group complaining the most is the PC crowd. Perhaps (and this is just an assumption) the PC version is different to the console versions?

Individuality is of course way better in PES 2011 than in PES 5, first touch-control also and the AI is better espescially the attacking-AI on top-player is better.

xbox360-version seems to be the best from the three, the worst is the PC-version mostly because there speed 0 in the full game is too fast and -1, -2 not existing. On the other hand, the editing-community on PC could turn the PC-version into the best version in a few months, but out of the box I would say the xbox360-version is best.

Oh, too many scissor-kicks happen in the game, it should be toned down considerably.

Playing as Russia and Arshavin is just sheer class to play as! The defenders shit themselves and back right off, couple that with his natural dribbling skills without holding any buttons and it's a joy when he's on the ball :)

I hate that fucking lag on online play!!! 2secs lag against somebody in my country?!?!?! WTF! I lost 6 matches in a row duo to lag.

for me it's even slower than the demo, I guess each PC configurations somehow matters...

Totally agree. I have no issues with the referees at all, they play the advantage when it's appropriate and don't call unecessary fouls. I've also conceded a few penalties in the 10 games I played yesterday. I think they have the balance right. I'll also add the ball feels weightier and the shooting seems to be less floaty and more powerful.

I agree, I also add that I have no response problems at all, only thing that I notice is when a strong cross is put is difficult to deflect the ball... I dont know how to explain it, you need to time it immediately otherwise the ball just bounce from your defender...

Bit hard to take anything they say seriously when in the first 2 paragraphs it says how bad PES 2008 - 2010 were, when at the time they spoke about these games as if they were the best thing since sliced bread.

Indeed... difficult to even read whatever they write... LOL

Which platform do you use?

4 days to release PES 2011:BOP:

PC version.

The good thing about lag is they changed it so the game pauses and after the lag it continuous... But it is unplayable when there are like 2 secs pause and suddenly the game goes on... especially when you want to shot or slide tackle right in that pause moment.

When I go online and use formation settings, my game freezes and disconnects me from server. Anyone else that has this problem?

What's your connection speed mate? This is worrying, my copy is arriving in a few days.

Could you be bothered to download this little tool Konami released and check the result it gives you? http://www.konami.jp/we/online/

Website is a bit slow.

I have said this before but this happens with every review of every sequel to every game. Not just with PES or the WENB team. If a new game in a series has improvements, the previous game, even if it scored 90+ at the time, is suddenly riddled with flaws.

Hi everyone, my first post here. waiting for my full retail. bout PES 2011 demo based (will use PES 2010 and FIFA 2011 (full) a bit as comparison/ PC version.. bit late but my impression for what caught my attention:

+ "Feel at shooting" outside the box, or rebound ball with my midfielder, need the right timing, has impressed me so far feel rewarding. that "BAM" when hammering the ball is back again.:BOP:

+ Dribbling, i never expect this "change/improvement" in PES 2011 really. close control with better dribble feels much2 A LOT better than previous version (almost non existent in 2010). Thx God with the new coding i believe. For my playing style. Dribbling represented much Better than in FIFA 2011 PC (but see my -)

+ i am awkward with the passing though at the first. After 1 week play. Happy day. Lob through pass is much proper as opposite PES 2010. 360/Manual passing function is quite vast. Nice addition

+ No more "weird & slow 90 deg turn" so far for less skilled player as in 2010 if you know what i mean..

+ In graphic department, not the best graphic-wise game out there. But this konami, is good at Art to some extent. How they blend (faces, kits, pitch, stadium, supporter) it with overall visual presentation is immense. Color looks vivid, it feels more alive than PES 2010. Did i say the lighting is nicer, waiting for dusk/afternoon game in PES 2011.:WORSHIP:

+ The individuality in terms of players positioning for run is good for me as the time i learn how actually they behave. as the time goes on. No, its not FIFA's R1 or L1 style (forgot).. but o prefer PES logic at the end. Fifa style is not bad. just not my taste

Okay the minus

- The animation transitioning/blending is not improved greatly. Okay one time i used Villa to hammer bounce ball, he slowed down from running, preparing to take the shot. Then BAM. Animation blending is proper, but why it seems quite hard for Konami to copy this to other animation especially dribbling is out of my head.

- Freekick (far box), especially throw in. Most player stands still too much. although in some cases players preparing for spaces is looking find (e.g near box) Fifa throw in system is better.

- Although more animation is added, i still need more varied. passing style, player physic, Especially keeper animation btw the keeper ai itself is good enough compared to you know :TTTH:

+/- Jog bug/Green Zone bugs whatever ppl call it. I thought its normal to see that situation if only it is not always  so far i guess the problem lied in RB/LB ai coding or jockeying coding for cpu ai. I see konami's "idea" there, but they might not happy with it i believe. It may not work as they want it.

+/- Harder to sprint pass defender. lol easier and harder to run past defender in terms of players speed shoud be there.the right balance is what Konami need.

The + things has won me over the minus or +/- that i see/feel. So much fun to enjoy the game rather than keeps thinking about the - :SMUG:

Next year i hope 85% of my - and +/- gets attention. For now cant wait for the full game. :BYE:

Wait.. hope to see goalnet editor next year :COAT:
