PES 2011 Discussion thread

the game is just like a few tweaks away from being truly spectacular! Just a few more fouls, having the responsiveness looked into (i almost scored 2 own goals due responsiveness, player continues to run etc..) and it's there! There's definably a few balance issues with the game, but i dunno, i don't want to be too harsh since ML is pretty epic! Even match has been a different challenge!

Hopefully me and Goalgerd can upgrade last years data and it will sort out the aggression and responsiveness. Those were two of the things I had increased last year. The other changes were forwards staying ahead of slow defenders, game speed, opposition AI and smaller teams being much more of challange to play against.

Sorry if this will sound like a stupid question but is there a way to get the pitches greener ? I have tried to change the color settings but it didn't satisfy me.Is it possible with a patch to change the initial color of pitches ?
edit: I am obviously talking about the PC version
Press pause during a match and there is an option in settings to change the pitch colours and you should be able to get the pitches super green.

What i dont like about this game is that you dont get an indicator for an advantage. It was the same as last year. This is basic konami so often dont put simple things in like this.

Konami has the habit of putting things in and then removing them in a later version. Doesn't make sense.

.That's what I meant by "color settings".I'm still not satisfied.
I wanna the colors to get me closer to this but that's still not good enough

okay, my 1st impression with the full version 1.01; might surprise you guys a bit :

1. actually I find it is SLOWER than the modded demo (I'm on PC)
2. CPU is better at attacking you, creating chances, shooting
3. HOWEVER I could still dominate them in possession but I'm unable to shoot  (I was MU vs Inter, top player; I dominated the match with 62% possession but lose 2-0)

I dunno if patching with PESEDIT will make the game faster, however for years I've noticed that edited PC version almost always resulted in slightly faster gameplay.

KONAMI with PES 2011 don't make proper marketing action. I give you example my country Poland. Everywhere i see billboards FIFA 11. In most tv chanels they advertise FIFA 11 , FIFA 11 and FIFA 11. We are 11 bla bla bla. In all markets like Auchan, Tesco, Media Markt, Saturn, Carrefour you can find ONE BIG WORD FIFA 11. On internet shops everywhere FIFA 11. What a Fu.ck? Everywhere....I'm sick when i hear word FIFA.....Why KONAMI don't do something?! It's ridiculous!

It's because Konami have spent all their money on securing as much licenses as possible - they have no money left to advertise / market properly.

Konami's promotion is about as visible as a Ninja :JAY:

So is the consensus among those that have the full game that it is not as good as the demo?

This is the impression I am getting from the last 5 or so pages and if you are comparing it with the euro demo then I am going to start lowering my expectations.

The moaning about response times is especially worrying.

The only thing that is worrying me, after reading more about it on other forums this morning, is the fouls. I love them on the demo's, I hate the fact the defending side of the game may not be an art in the full retail. I hate the thought of just pressing X to pressure and win the ball.:(

The tactics in this game are really ruining it for me so far. Playing as Chelsea and the players are constantly out of position. For example, Anelka keeps ending up all over the pitch, often dropping really deep into the centre of midfield, even though I have adjusted the team style in the tactics menu it still keeps happening. The movement of your team mates is shocking this year such as when I got the ball out wide playing as Newcastle the right back had p[ossetion but Routledge kept making runs into the middle when he should have been getting down the wing!

You have an option in the strategy sliders that you can make your players maintain the position rigorously. It's something I noticed early and everytime I play with some team I have to apply in order to have the players in their right place. I think it's really nice to see them correctly following the orders we put in the strategy sliders.

What Wishmaster said. Also, some players have cards like chasing back that makes them drop down into midfield. For example, Wayne Rooney lol

I've played the WE demo and the PES EU version Demo and I didn't notice any remarkable downgrade from them. I think that the final version is even more fluid and dynamic than before. The response time of the players in defence I think it's somehow slow but it's something that you adapt quickly.
I'm playing alot of MLO and I must say it's really a matter of players also...I've made some experiences and It's a must to play some games with a team with no rating like the one you have from start in ML, and to try after a game with Manchester Utd or Chelsea or any other great team.
It's like night and day, the response times and fluidity of play increase a lot.

Eh? Worse than the demo? Response times? :CONF:

Never once thought it full game was worse than the demo, and never had a problem with response times on the demo or full game either.

Odd.

Absolutely not, I think the full game is way better than the demo, playing the xbox360-version: Animations are smoother, control is better, AI of my team and espescially from the opponent-CPU is considerably better.

Gamespeed at 0 and -1 are imho just perfect.

The tackling has not been downgraded, you still need the right timing to win over the ball. What has merely changed is that the players don't stumble so much like in the demo when wrongly tackled, they adjust and keep possession of the ball, therefore no need for the referree to whistle... which is imho better, in the demo the game was interrupted too often for slight tackles that in reality don't always justify a foul to be whistled.

More animations for the goalkeeper, better advantage-understanding for the referree and the jog-bug and greenzone-bug fixes are needed for the game to become perfect.

But as of now I'm very happy with the full game.

Maybe this year they make a lot of money.
There are rwo reasons for that:
- It is the best PES ever
- FIFA's online is in complete shambles and I see a lot of old PES-fans returning from FIFA because of FIFA's current debacle.

Yeah it is very odd. I had no issues with the response times on the demo at all. And now playing the full game just feels slow and unresponsive. Never thought I would say this but the response times make it feel like PES 2010!

To be honest Jimmy I feel that even in the demo the defending side of the game is just a case of pressing X to pressure and win the ball, not in the FIFA way but more like the old PES way.

When I figured it out I loved the new defensive system but with time I found it to be a largely meretricious attempt at adding depth and skill to that aspect of the gameplay. It has its uses in certain situations but I have now pretty much forgotten all about it, and to win the ball I just position my player slightly ahead of the opponent with the ball and either just run into them or use X to do the same, this has a very high success rate.
Maybe next year they can really implement it properly and make its use a necessity.

Hopefully this is the case. I noticed it in a big way when playing with Japan that the response times may not be slower but the players actions are. I hope people have just been using Barca & Bayern in the demo and the change to the ML players has just shocked them.

Where is the option for this? I have set position swap to 0 and set attacking style to around 3 or 4 (so they should stay out wide) but it doesnt seem to work?

Really ? It feels totally different to me. My best mate, who is a life-long PES player, tried the demo at mine the other day for the first time, (He has been abroad with work) and the amount of fouls he kept committing was unbelievable, this was due to him having the PES 2010 ingrained into him.

Cheers HH, I totally understand what your saying here, and it has put my worries to rest, for the most part. :)

In my game if you put the position swap to NEVER they do not change positions unless you have a player with a card that makes him move in a different way like Rooney that tends to appear in the sidelines.

I think that maybe there's some positioning you have to improve or be careful with the L1+X effect...if you catch my drift

Experiencing some very shady 'glitches'. In just one of many instances, I was able to finally get a CPU player off balance and move past him, he follows me for a bit then just decides to kick the shite out of me, my player goes tumbling and is injured. The ref, who is standing 3 feet away just stands there. No foul. This has now been happening more and more in my ML. I seem to have built somewhat of a rivalry with NAC Breda, cause those bastards are just destroying my players. I also hate the stupid stumbling animation that occurs when any CPU defender gets within two feet.

Yes shank, I've had problems with player responsiveness also, sometimes they freeze for a second before I have control. I even had a defender run up to a loose ball in front of goal, refuse to accept my control and do a controlled shot into the back of his own net.
I could live with the little glitches here and there. What bothers me most is still the CPU's way of defending though, it's almost like the CPU is exploiting its own shortcomings to gain the advantage (I won't go into this again)

perhaps they consulted Graham Poll?

Yes it is better. Don't have problems with responses whatsoever. Its just the fouls that are less, nothing bad though. Seems to me like people are more on here than getting busy with the game

It's always going to be a bit subjective whether it is better or not. I find the full PES is far better than the demo and that was a great surprise because I had heard it would be identical to the demo.

Reffing is very good IMO. They give cards intelligently and there are very few reds for reckless tackles in midfield. I have seen refs play the advantage rule often, and it has really helped me score some cracking counter attacking goals that would've been impossible in the demo. :))

Sound effects are the best I have ever heard in a PES out of the box. To me, AI is also better than the demo, more aggressive in attack and players making space and runs better. Demo was good, but responsiveness and smoothness of animations seems first class to me now in full. I love it. Team individuality is amazing. But no-one can tell you whether you will like it. My advice : be cautious in your expectations and then you might end up being really delighted.

Made a short video of all my tackles in one match on 5 stars in the WE demo.
All tackles are made by simply running into the opponent, none were called as fouls. There are 1 or 2 that are lucky with their good timing but most are just running into people and geting the ball. One was missed because of half time where the defender walked square on into Muller as he was running into the box and the ball got poked away and Muller went flying, no foul.

YouTube - Easy PES Tackling

The new defending system is not useless as in your case it gets used but it is definitely not necessary, running into people with no thought for timing works perfectly, unfortunately.

I get called back for those kind of tackles all the time in the demo, to the point where I've stopped running in and started timing them lol

that's weird.

Totally agree. I have no issues with the referees at all, they play the advantage when it's appropriate and don't call unecessary fouls. I've also conceded a few penalties in the 10 games I played yesterday. I think they have the balance right. I'll also add the ball feels weightier and the shooting seems to be less floaty and more powerful.

In terms of AI agressiveness, on Top Player I'm finding they really plow on the pressure when they're after a goal and top rated teams are really hard to defend against at times. For example, playing against Liverpool, Torres is proving to be a right handful finding gaps in my defence and wrestling for every ball up front. Kuyt is also a menace if you give him the room. Also, if you don't close Stevie down he's going to shoot and believe me he smacks some rockets - he scored a 35 yarder in my first game against Liverpool in the ML.

They've definitely tweaked it for the better since the release of the demo.
