PES 2011 Discussion thread

Yes its in. I have finally mastered the PK system now. Kept experimenting til I got the hang of it.

For doing the chip, facing the goal to the right, first press shoot and left at the same time for a milisecond, then during the run up, 3 steps ore more, flick up or down to pick a corner or do nothing and goes down the middle.

Hope I make sense.

Hey Lami you can hold the stick left or right when you're setting the shot power. So when I do it and I'm trying to chip the penalty, I hold left while I tap X/square. But the direction of the PK needs to be feathered during the run-up.

Sigh...

Is there a known problem with the form system in ML? After hiring the top athletic trainer this happens: Almost all of my valuable players are messed up. Even their replacements on the bench are messed up too! This never happened to me in ML 2010.

You should have checked his references, his C.V. wont be worth the paper its been blagged on. He has played you like a flute. Also, it serves you right for picking a bigger club for your ML, you must have had a decent kitty to get that level of staff. Either that or they were already at the club. My club Doctor was only a level 1, he was terrible, weird guy, wanted me to hold his balls whilst I coughed. :CONFUSE:

The Goalkeeper Coach is a new addition though, he wasnt in PES 2010.

...

30 Stats Player
WITHOUT BALL
Dead Sprint (secs) – 7.16, 7.13, 7.16, 7.12, 7.14
Average Time = 7.14 secs

99 Stats Player
WITHOUT BALL
Dead Sprint (secs) – 7.0, 7.03, 7.0, 7.02, 7.03
Average Time = 7.02 secs

...

Am I the only one thinking the fast players are too slow to cover less than 55 meters? I expect speed demons with 99 stats to do that in 6-6.5 seconds.

I know a lot of people on forums want a slower game but isn't the game now too slow for the "realism" tag people like to associate with their request for a slower game?

(I just timed the runs with FIFA 11 demo. Running speed is similar to PES 2011 demo.)

For reference, here are some men's world records:
60m Sprint - 6.39s
50m Sprint - 5.56s
55m Hurdles - 6.89s
50m Hurdles - 6.25s
and a WOMEN's record:
60m Sprint - 6.92s
http://www.trackandfield.com/records/world/

Pitch length for a few famous stadiums based on Wikipedia:
Old Trafford - 105m
Camp Nou - 105m
Bernabeu - 107m
San Siro - 105m

Guys doing these "experiments", can you try to activate these player cards: Darting Run, Mazing Run, Speed Merchant (I think this one makes all the difference this year) and Turning Skills.

Any different... "results"?

I prefer empirical evidence over 'common sense':P How do you explain Messi's ability then? He is infamous for his ability to outrun defenders while controlling the ball.

It's obviously a myth, a way to say he's still fast with the ball at his feet and that he's a fantastic dribbler but there is no way Messi would outrun a defender in a 60m race with him having a ball.
You just can't take those clichés sentences litteraly

That video...kick off > 3 straight, assisted passes > goal.

lol, I'm glad I haven't bought neither this nor FIFA this year.

Perhaps it is an issue like with PES2010, hardly a game breaker, you just play PEEL and pass back to your keeper, give the defense some time to set up, and play on.

Or perhaps just better defensive skills will make it a non-issue...if you read it and intercept early.

i am glad that i am not you; i have pes2011.

suddenly, it feels like I'm in 3rd grade again!

People like you are the sole reason why we can't have a decent footie game nowadays, you guys just swallow whatever product these big corps. throw in your general direction, no matter how half-assed and lackluster they appear to be.

Can't really blame the developers either, why would any businessman in his right minds change anything if they can get away with minimal efforts and still sell millions of copies...

You wanna know how a sports-game is supposed to be? Then get NBA 2k11 and draw a parallel, lol.

mate, you're saying that you are glad you didn't buy PES because of a video where a goal was scored from kick off, and you're calling people immature for disagreeing?

Are you serious? For my money, PES11 will be epic, a true deep, rewarding simulation with all the genius of old school PES titles.

I didn't purchase PES because it feels outdated, stiff, assisted and not that different from PS2's JWE2009CC, among other things.

In fact I was just making people notice one of the many fundmental flaws of the game.

Thought it was hilarious that one of them popped up in the first few seconds of a video that was supposed to show how good the game is...

Well it was an online game vs a human who defended terribly. Hardly something that will happen time after time after time.

This is rather strange, looks like he crushed their stamina as well as their spirit. The trainer is apparently "a real household name when it comes to athletic training" which I find somewhat amusing. Have athletic trainers ever been household names?

I actually thing its about time they cut down on the boring speed whores. PES is about passing and scoring good team goals. Not relying on 1 player to run his way to goal its not realistic.

It's all about finding the balance. At the end of the day, dribbling is part of the sport. The likes of Lionel Messi produce the following week in week out :

YouTube - Messi impossible goal Zaragoza HD

But you simply can't do this in pro anymore (and yes I prefer a passing game, but you should be able to do the above).

Maybe you getting old for video games. Sure there are faults but you sought of looked at a segment of a video and made your mind up there and then. It's a bit sad.

You do realize that's multiplayer, don't you? It's hardly the fault of the game if the human opponent doesn't defend well. Against a good human player or the CPU at top-player, this doesn't happen at all!

In PES 2011 you have to actively do something to defend, you can't leave it to the CPU, they have reduced such AI-helps.

I started an Africa-cup with Morocco and my first match was against Ghana and I lost in the first round four times in a row, being thrown out of the cup by Ghana because they were technically better and having more strength and speed, just like they have in real-life. It was an awesome experience, even if I lost. Then I changed the tactics from my team from offensive to balanced and doing a little better, still losing but not so high anymore and then I changed the tactic to defensive, it helped bring a bit stability for my team.. the first two games I still lost but only 0:1 and in the third game I managed to score my first goal in the africa cup.. 1:2 and I needed to really outwit the Ghana-team for that one, it was one of those jumping out of the couch-moments.. I then got a bit better and made two other goals but they were both offside and then in the last five minutes I made the desperately needed 2:2 to save me into extension-time.

There it was obvious both teams were a bit tired, the Ghana-team couldn't play the massive onslaught they played in the first 45 minutes that led to them to a 2:0-lead... and my team had one or two opportunities but shot way beside the goal, obviously not concentrated enough.. but I was lucky to make it to the penalty-shooting.

Strangely enough in the africa-cup, the camera for the penalty was like known from older PES from behind the player's back, but I didn't understand the system to shoot, shooting most of my shots beside or above the goal, but thanks to my good keeping I could win the penalty-shooting by a slice margin.

There are bugs, the sideline-jog-bug and the cornerline-one and sometimes when the ball was loose between two defenders the playerswitching didn't work well enough leading to a dangerous situation where no defender felt responsible for the ball... but overall this is the most realistic, most thrilling PES-game ever.

Yes, you read right, PES 2011 is imho the best PES ever, even better than PES 5 and PES 6 on PS2!

 common man, that's weak!

Did you see it was the absolute shit defending of the Real Madrid player, trying to pressure madly like FIFA which made that goal so easy? Watch how the defenders all leave their good positions and chase shadows leaving huge spaces in behind.

I though someone who has SUCH a a depth in knowledge of football would notice that, and notice how pretty poor both players were.

Week in week out? No! Mate, that's a special goal, he does that like 1 in every 20 or so games! I watched most of Barca's gmes last season!

He scored a few from runs like that last season but these days goals like that do not happen every week!

technically it's the best football game, but we will find out maybe in say December-February just how good this game really is. Too early to make claims like that :)

 Were you watching the video at all? Albiol goes for the tackle and fails, leaving an easy through pass. If you honestly think every online game is gonna be like those matches you see on TV, then you got another thing coming buddy.

In short - no. Realism is not about mapping real life 1:1. That's the mistake FIFA is making. It's about the end product; the whole package.

Well to be fair Klash, the video you posted is from the demo. Dribbling past any CPU player is a lot harder now because they hardly make any mistakes. The result is that dribbling feels a lot less effective and CPU defenders feel robotic (too perfect).
I mean come on, even Chiellini and Terry make mistakes!
But anyways, i've accepted it for what it is and just adjusted my style of playing to focus solely on quick passing and creating space. It still saddens me, but I hope they'll fix it in a patch (unlikely i know)

Hmm, well in my first few games in the full game, it seemed harder because in my ML with Fyenoord, teams just kept Parking the bus.

I need more games to truly test it though and my controller was broken (left stick jams)

Mate of mine who's playing ML says he's quite upset at how he only earned 3 or 4 yellow cards in an entire season and how none of his players got close to getting injured. Apparently fouls per team are only in the 1-4 count.

KONAMI with PES 2011 don't make proper marketing action. I give you example my country Poland. Everywhere i see billboards FIFA 11. In most tv chanels they advertise FIFA 11 , FIFA 11 and FIFA 11. We are 11 bla bla bla. In all markets like Auchan, Tesco, Media Markt, Saturn, Carrefour you can find ONE BIG WORD FIFA 11. On internet shops everywhere FIFA 11. What a Fu.ck? Everywhere....I'm sick when i hear word FIFA.....Why KONAMI don't do something?! It's ridiculous!

Yea the average for a 10 min game is 1 or 2 fouls on the cpu side and 3 or 4 on mine. I have played games that had 0 fouls on both sides though (they weren't friendlies :P ) I did have an average amount of injuries though. I played Zarate to the point of exhaustion and he went down from a small knick. Out for 9 weeks.
In total I think i had 5 injured players by the season's end.
