Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

How can we say if next year is our year if we don't even know who the manager will be? Not a very good joke really, you can do better than that ;)

Anyway, the always interesting Dion Fanning:

And Torres has ended speculation that he's looking to leave :D Makes you wonder if he'd have said that if Roy stayed in charge though...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Can't believe how excited I am for today, haven't felt like this since Athens. Even if we lose, it's going to be a very special day :D

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Explain me then why next summer will be huge, i ask not out of sarcasm, but i really don't understand (are you talking about transfers? Then i agree).

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Glen Johnson missing todays game due to his wife going into labour.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Team looks like how it should be from the list

25 Reina
05 Agger
06 Aurelio
34 Kelly
37 Skrtel
04 Raul Meireles
08 Gerrard
17 Maxi
21 Lucas
09 Torres
18 Kuyt

Would expect a 4-2-3-1 formation.

@ Gerd,

The summer should represent the start of the new owners reign and their plans for the club. It's a reason why they didn't want to sack Roy till the summer.

- The summer should see a new coach (with a long term future and plan) come in and start the rebuilding process of the team under the guidelines of the new owners.
- Which would see quite a few transfers happening.
- Which should also see the new style of play being introduced.
- It might/should be the moment when plans about the stadium get sorted (new build or refurbishment of Anfield)

And hopefully (sentimentally)
- Dalglish gets to have a proper and succesfull fairwell from the fans. (He just left the first time round and didn't get the sending off the fans would have wanted to give him).

This summer might have been a big step for the club by removing H+G, but really the new start will be next summer. It might be a step like Arsenal made a few years ago with a new stadium and the focus on youth development. A blueprint for how the club will develope the coming years with the first steps being taken in the summer (both on and off the field).

Never, ever saw a more blatant dive. Less than one minute for Fergie's favourite ref to give them a crazy decision, where he ignored his linesman. Great signing by Fergie is Webb.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Already the passing is so much better, along the ground and no hoofing up the pitch to Torres. Closing down from the front, defence playing higher up the pitch. Wonderful to see again :)

We look so much more balanced.....and not sitting deep.

Interesting thing Torres said that it is very difficult for anyone to emulate Rafa's success...

Fucking hell, how can the FA condone a ref like Howard Webb? This is shocking. What's the point in playing against United when Webb is in charge, you've lost before the game has even started.

Two major decisions....and Webb has given maximum leeway to United...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Gerrards tackle officially worse than De Jongs on Alonso.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Despite the first half finishing with 12 men against 10, I've been pleased with our play. Passing is so much better, moving to make space for the ball and the pressing is all impressive. 37 mins for United to have their first shot from open play I believe?

If the play from the first half is a sign of the play for the rest of the season then hopefully it'll be a pleasure to watch us play again.

two players went for the ball....
but Gerrard did himself no favors by getting both feet off the floor...

Agger barely touched Berbatov...

both decisions were borderline....the penalty should not have been
given....the red card ....well maybe...

Lousy referee...

The difference is that Gerrard I think didn't do it to break his ankle, Carrick was coming from his adjacent so he couldn't have seen him coming, although using two studs wasn't the smartest. Could've given a yellow.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

You'll always get that at Old Trafford though. In any domestic game they always get the decisions of weak English refs. You only really get a fair game there in Europe when the refs arent as weak as Webb and will give the opposition a decision.

For instance Webb wouldnt have dared to send off Rafael against Bayern had be been the ref. It's part of the reason why United have such a poor record in terms of European trophies.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

If Howard Webb is supposedly England's "best referee" then all the other referees must be shocking (we get some right arsehole officials in the Championship!). I was hoping to watch a good cup game on TV, instead this match was over as a spectacle after 15 seconds.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

ITV confirm that linesman didn't flag for the pen. Webb's decision alone from a far inferior position.

4 - Howard Webb has given penalties to Man Utd in four of the last six matches he has officiated at Old Trafford. Pointed.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Meireles a huge disappointment today, passing his been awful. Torres shitting out of any kind of tackle, scared to hold onto the ball too.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Wow, nice to see some pro-active subs going on! Shelvey and Babel have great opportunities to get themselves noticed.

Dalglish is trying to win the game....even with 10 men...away from home..

what a refreshing change this is....at least we are trying...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Torres looked awful again today, scared even. Didn't want to run, take control of the ball, tackle, nothing.

Considering we're down to ten men and Dalglish wasn't even in the country yesterday, we're doing well. Certainly good signs in the play and more reasons to be optimistic than I was two days ago.
