Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Torres looked awful again today, scared even. Didn't want to run, take control of the ball, tackle, nothing.

Considering we're down to ten men and Dalglish wasn't even in the country yesterday, we're doing well. Certainly good signs in the play and more reasons to be optimistic than I was two days ago.

talking about optimism....i woke up at 5am to watch this....
have'nt done this since 2008..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Very proud of the team, despite the 12 men of United. Lots of positives and our play was much better than it's been for a LONG time, especially considering we were down to ten men.

When Roy was still in charge, I was expecting us to get beat 5-0 or something. To be disappointed that it took the referee to seperate the teams is a good sign that it's clear we've improved already despite the circumstances.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Anyone hear Berbatov in ITV's post match interview? The ITV man asked him was it a penalty, Berbatov said "of course it wasn't". I could have sworn that is what he said, even rewinded Sky+ a few times and I'm sure he said "wasn't". Whether that is limitation in his understanding of English or a Walcott repeat, I don't know?

Dalglish will do three things...which Hodgson was unable to.
- instill passion
- bring a more attacking play
- will not take crap from under-performers

I hope for Hodgson's sake that he gets a job soon at a club
where he can excel where expectations are low.
I feel a bit sad to see a manager get sacked....no matter how
much I disliked his gaffes.....

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

New assistant manager is very highly rumoured to be Steve Clarke, with Tony Barrett all but confirming it.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Listen, I know fans are naturally biased and all that, but don't you feel the least bit pathetic blaming everything on the ref?

For me the penalty was very, very soft but there was contact (stupidly from Agger) and there's not some rule that says Berbatov has to stay on his feet - he was fouled. If that's in the centre circle it's a free kick and no one has an issue. Rules are no different in the box.

The Gerrard sending off is a red. I'm sorry, but if Carrick hadn't gotten his ankle of the ground Gerrard would have broken his leg in two. It's not a difficult concept - if you dive in with both sets of studs showing it is a red card. The fact that it was a nothing ball in the middle of the park makes Gerrard's actions even more lamentable (as does his insistance that he played the ball - if you want a sign a player knows he's in trouble, watch for the 'I played the ball' argument - it means they know if they didn't play the ball they're f*cked). There was no need for it.

I wasn't impressed with either side. Liverpool were just as dull and midfield-packed as ever, and United were just as slow and '2nd gear' as ever.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Also - would it kill ITV to not hire an ex-Liverpool player to commentate on that match? It was like having Paddy Crerand doing a United match. Beglin is still talkin about the penalty now I bet...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Erm ... how did you expect us to play? Before Gerrard was sent off, 30 mins in or so, we'd set up as 4-2-3-1 as we used to do under Rafa, we were the better team IMO and hardly packing the midfield "as ever". Or are you talking about when we went a man down in midfield and didn't have that link to Torres so he was left mostly isolated?

I'm not entirely sure where you're getting that view from?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

You played as well against us under Woy in the league at OT, nothings magically changed with Kenny in charge.

It was an even game all things considered. Not gonna even speak about the penalty other than to say you'd take it if roles were reversed so don't complain. Also if people are gonna say it's typical for United to get decisions like that, at least look at statistics to back it up, we genuinely don't get any more favourable decisions than anyone else.

Gerrard's tackle was a red and he's an utter cunt to boot.

I take it you didn't see that Webb has given United 4 penalties in his last 6 games at Old Trafford then? You want more stats?

Another?

And no, nothing "magically" changed but if you didn't see that the movement, passing and higher defensive line wasn't clearly different then you didn't take much notice of Liverpool in either game. Hugely different.

It was 50:50, you had Clive Tyldesley, they had Beglin.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Thirty seconds to swing a game United's way. Must be a new personal best for Webb, or any ref for that matter. Gerrard's red card was more than warranted, though. I really dislike Gerrard as a player.

Did you read the follow up to that? Yes United had more injury time at home when losing - but were placed 11th in the table of deltas (out of 20 - so 10 other teams benefitted more than United).

Typical example of the 'United are favoured in every way reporting'.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Not too bad for us there was some good passages of play at times, but webb killed the game off. And whats this bollocks about Berbatoss was touched by Agger, Ahhh bless is cotton socks its a contact sport, FFS no way was it a foul and webb at 25 yards away should have consulted his linesman. I abore cheats even when its our own lads.

Also stevie should know that the rules are there to protect namby pamby footballers who dont like to get hurt! there is a very fine line between passion and intent.

Torres looked poor again didnt press at all when off the ball in contrast to Dirk the diddler who ran his socks off. I thought that kelly at right back had a good game and i think he has real potential.

Overall a pretty dull game, but signs that things will get better, or am i being optimistic?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Babel is being investigated by the FA for relinking to a photo-shopped picture of Webb in a Man Utd shirt on his twitter.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

to be fair, utd probably shaded it enough to win it overall.never a pen but sendong off was justified.stupid of gerrard that.thought we did pretty alrite to be fair, definitely signs of improvement, hunger was there.ynwa..

Actually they played better under Hodgson against you int he league than they did today!

not that i'm saying Kenny won't do a good job, i think he'll sort out the home form, but i don't know what's it's going to take for Liverpool fans to understand. Your team isn't very good! And Don't expect, well any miracles of any sort! until the summer at the very earliset!

I know you're on a wind-up (and have been from the start), but seriously why is there a weird mentality in football now that if you say "we're not that bad" or "we've got some quality" that instantly gets turned into "we're the best" "we're gonna win the league" etc.?

It's happened an awful lot lately

No need to cover your tracks, i know that you were trying to make out that you were supposedly a Top 4 ' Team still! Which you need to understand your don't have the quality for the Top 4 anymore, and at best your 6/7th strongest team in the league (with everyone playing well).

If you weren't living on loose arguments like (Premiership hasn't been that good this year) This is true but hey, West ham could use this this excuse as well.

of course i was being sarcastic about winning the league, you should know but i still fail to understand why you overrate so many of your players? Not just that, why do you expect Kenny to just walk in, sprinkle some fairy dust and everything will be ok?

Kenny, should sort out he home form, but that's all i can see him doing, just stopping your ship from sinking at the rate it was before.

From now until may it's only about fighting with what you have, sorting out the Home form and laying plans to Regroup in the summer!

all i can say is look at Newcastle when it comes to fans having false belief in the quality of their team.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I for one like seeing fans in here getting excited. I even saw mancs fans getting sign autograph by Kenny . If some of them were happy you lots deserve to feel over da moon.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

You'd think someone who was on a wind-up would at least get their facts right and not keep talking about "home form" when it's our away form that's been so poor :FAIL:

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

reading all the comments make me wonder..

I look on the brighter side...

We dont have stupid owners anymore - Hick and Gillete
We dont have clueless coach anymore - Roy Hodgson

We have new owners, we are stabilised as club.
We have Kenny Dalglish as coach - man who is Liverpool FC.
We have new asisstant coach soon.
We will have new permanent coach that the owners take care to search for.
We have best supporters in the world.
WE ARE STILL MOST SUCCESFULL CLUB.
We have one of bigest fanbase in world.

But most of all we have HOPE again. After half year i look forward to our next match..personaly. Nevermind the results that can be bad or not improved immediately..

So why so serious guys... ? It could have been much worst by this time..

Things will be good again i realy think so, already with new people around the club it will be visible, but we need patience...we are on crossroads this season in many ways, the owners, coach, the players.. many things need to rebuild and stabilise... we just need patience. And support the team.

Who agrees, give me high FIVE

:APPLAUD:

It's been a LONG time since every Liverpool fan I know has been all united together and not in-fighting with themselves arguing over the board/manager. A huge sense of optimism, looking forward to the games again and a sense of hope that we can get back to supporting the club that we started supporting to begin with. Exciting times :)

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Steve Clarke coming in as first team coach as opposed to assistant manager. Very good coach with good credentials, bit dubious about his Chelsea past though.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

About yesterday:

certainly no penalty, but the red card was logical. Gerrard made a dangerous tackle (how stupid for a professional player).

From what i saw, Liverpool did reasonably well.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Clarke confirmed. Interestingly, he's also got experience of working with Villas-Boas as well...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

There is much to do about Liverpool's intrest for Lukaku here in Belgium.
According to virtually all news papers Commoli is in Brussels to have talks about Lukaku.
Lukaku and Anderlecht are adamant: he will not leave before the end of season transfer window (unless a crazy bid comes in???).

This would be a good move for Lukaku's carreer if he can start his Liverpool carreer as back-up for Torres and Liverpool brings him slowly (don't forget that Lukaku is only 17 years old). I'll keep you guys up-to-date.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Cheers Gerd. He's the kind of player that Henry was saying we'd be interested in so it makes sense that there's rumours around.
