Telegraph says hodgson is being given one last chance....
not sure what the point is....
even if he flukes a win....which is unlikely given United
are going to play full-strength....
it will only delay the inevitable...

The only explanation is that the replacement is either
not yet found or not ready to takeover...

Perhaps the replacement would rather not take charge of the United game, knowing the drubbing they will most likely get? Blackpool away is a much better game to start your new job.

and lack of experience at the top 4 level...not because he is English.

The what's so annoying with the media, they think the club or the supporters care what nationality anyone is. The only emotional investment people have is for local lads making the team, foreign youngsters coming through the academy and the players working their arses off on the pitch.. Anything else is irrelevant imo.

Just watching Sky Sports news here in the US....
and the section where the presenter is questioning a newspaper
analyst...
He was almost accusing the papers of trying to paint Hodgson in
a bad light...and trying to get him sacked....saying they are
trying to make things happen...the guy was defending himself
saying that thousands of liverpool fans are bombarding the mirror
website unhappy about hodgson...and they are just reflecting the fans'
opinion..

They just cannot stand a british manager getting sacked....
who cares if Liverpool get relegated.

Indeed, after all we have already lost to the bottomside...at home! We have only beating 3 of the teams (WBA/Villa/WH) whilst drawing 2 and losing 3 against them. Everything about the team is midtable atm, with only the run of 3 back-to-back wins really keeping us higher. Without those we would be very much in a relegation battle. That's how close it is this season.

@ Mathew,

Quite ironic that the guy was accusing the papers of making things happen in trying to get him fired. They did exactly that to make him seem like a topclass manager when everything was pointing towards a midtable manager.

I don't get Sky Sports channel....they just show the daily sports news..

I was seeing Thompson's tactics in the Echo....talked about Kelly as RB,
Johnson as winger....Aurelio at LB...
Agger in CB....Raul and Gerrard in the middle...Kuyt up front with Torres..
Maxi on the left...

Some rumors of him also being considered...

Also Owen Coyle is a surprise candidate...now that Deschamps and
even Rijkaard are not keen....(from Daily Star)

Hodgson ducks his Friday press briefing. Only speaking to club website and LFC TV.

LFC tell me Hodgson press conference cancelled due to "ongoing media speculation about manager's position. Club wants focus to be on game".

He is not getting sacked any time soon...
they are just protecting him from the media...
don't know for how long though....till we get a resolution...
it may be after this game...who knows....

I'm sticking a tenner on you guys beating us on Sunday. 5-1 are pretty good odds considering it's a cup competition and we've been a bit crap in the past few years in the FA CUP.

Likely to be a welcome distraction to your team as well, and Lord knows Torres doesn't half enjoy playing against us (even if the sum of his contribution last match was mainly a couple well timed theatrical tumbles)

Let's hope Kenny has modern training methods and tactics.

Will be interesting to see how he and the team does for the rest of the season.

On 365 they added a Hodgson factfile under the news item; it's the essence of mediocraty. Good riddance!

I have that worry aswell. Fortunately we aren't in as bad a position, and Kenny actually has some experience and knowledge, whereas Shearer can barely make a decent point on MotD.

Still, this is a lost season, all he has to do is get the players to actually play and use tactics that actually suit the players. He's seen the club and how it's run for more then a year with Rafa in charge so he should know enough about everything to keep the team ticking over till the new guy gets in in the summer.

Bloody hope so anyway.
